It's St Patrick's day. I called Wednesday to make sure they'd have corn beef and cabbage,yes. We got there by 6 and they had 6 orders left, I got one. I was expecting the traditional boiled dinner, carrots and potatoes were roasted. The dinner was OK but I was surprised at the price, 19.95 for corned beef? Service OK. But I've noticed they are high on price for the meals vs what you get. Corned beef should cost 14-17. So I could afford it, it's just a matter of principle. I'll start by saying the theme was totally cool. Our server Brittney, awesome. Appetizers - delicious. Main course - slightly disappointed. However, the most disappointing part of this experience was the fact that near by in the kitchen with the door wide open they were cleaning the floors, which I understand must be done. During service hours I would expect a broom or a mop....not a loud machine which disturbs the customers. We could barely hear one another talk! read more

Came here for lunch with my husband. Decor is very charming. Food was excellent, made with attention to detail, I can tell my fries used to be a potato not long ago. Nice selection of menu options. The only thing is it's a little pricey. They have Wednesday scratch made pasta night which I'm kinda priced out of unless it's a special occasion. Decor is interesting-Thomas Edison themed- reminds me a little of TGI Fridays. Stick to the basics here. It's the only game in town for what they have. Burgers, wings, anything fried..great. I recommend avoiding anything more ambitious, you will be disappointed . You can usually get a good beer, especially if you like DIPA. Myself, when I go out, I'd rather have a regular ipa so I'm safe to drive. Last time I ordered one I got a light lager instead. Not sure how they tell the difference- taps are unmarked and bartender was sure my Pilsner was an ipa..I was not going to argue..if you must eat in town it's fine. I vacillated between 2 and 3 stars but ultimately decided on 2- I've subjected myself to this place for the sake of convenience several times and invariably come away feeling like I wasted my money. If it's all the same to you I recommend you go to Litchfield, Waterbury or Torrington unless you want a burger, then you'll overpay but that's the best possible outcome in my humble opinion. read more

We have always had a great time when we went to this restaurant until Saturday night May 12th 2018. I called for reservations for 4 and was informed the minimum for reservations was 6, but not to worry as we shouldn't have any trouble getting seated. As it turns out, the wait was 40 minutes. When we did get seated, it was the table closest to the front door. The evening was damp and raw and the table location caught a lot of the outside air when the doors were opened. When the waitress did finally show up to our table, all she said is "what would you like to order?". No mention of drinks or appetizers. From then on it was all downhill. We didn't get our drinks until we chased down another waitress and requested them. When the food showed up it wasn't prepared the way we expected. It was edible, but as enjoyable as it normally has been at this establishment. We are hoping this isn't an indicator that the service and food are beginning to fall off. It has been great to have a good "go to" place in town, but if the service and food remains like it was on Saturday night, our default position may be to go to somewhere else. read more

Went here on Saturday with the family and was very disappointed. From the time we were seated till the time we received our food was an over 90 minute wait. Our waitress was very pleasant and told us a few times that she was sorry for the delay. What made matters worst was when the food came out two of the dishes were cold. The meatloaf dinner and the salmon. You would think after waiting for that long that the food would be at least hot. It would take a lot for me to try this spot again read more

Best place for breakfast in the area. It's pretty standard when it comes to the type of place it is, but it's definitely an above average spot to grab breakfast. Their menu has most of your 'normal' choices when it comes to eggs, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, etc... However, the portion sizes are massive, and for a relatively inexpensive price too. I ate there twice recently for breakfast and both times the level of food and service was great. I got an egg, cheese and sausage sandwich on a bagel and it also came with a side of breakfast potatoes. It was very filling and not too greasy. The other people I ate with got waffles, pancakes and another egg dish and all were equally happy. It's definitely a place worth trying out. The only drawback is there can be a wait as there aren't many tables and the restaurant is a little tight. read more

recently we checked out the Edison grill for breakfast, and just went back to try dinner and drinks too! Let's start with breakfast, I ordered the coconut crunch French toast, and it was really good! The crunchy texture was definitely different from your normal French toast. I also ordered home fries, also very good. I think my only complaint about breakfast would be the prices, they seemed a little steep compared to what breakfast usually costs me when going out, but nonetheless it was very yummy and filling! For dinner, we had ordered the appetizer sampler, which includes potato skins, jalapeño pierogies, and wings. The potato skins were unusually different, but extremely delicious! I wish they had a little more cheese in them, but I also am the type to dump shredded cheese on anything and everything. We got the garlic buffalo sauce on the wings, and that was very good, not too spicy. The pierogies were really good, the sauce included with them was different, not for me as I'm not a big raspberry fan, next time I'll ask for a side of sour cream. I ordered the Mac and cheese for my meal, which included a side salad and dinner roll. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp scampi florentine. The portions were huge! The Mac and cheese was a little sweet, and not as creamy as I was expecting, but it was still delicious. The shrimp scampi was very good, I was expecting it to be a bit more garlicky, but very yummy regardless. The drinks were good, we ordered the alligator drink special and it was yummy! Went here for breakfast with a small group yesterday. Two orders of poached eggs were both well over cooked with solid yolks. The home fries were burned yet hard as pebbles which is actually sort of impressive. The brie and blueberry stuffed French toast is basically a brie grilled cheese sandwich.y fiancee's toast was more like stale rye with some butter. The pancakes were as my friend put it; "like eating a warm washcloth." So yeah... We were thoroughly unhappy. Only made alright by our very friendly waitress. Very interesting place to eat. The theme is as described before by other reviewers. I personally only have gone once for breakfast so take this review lightly. Walking in we were seated quickly, and our waitress was kind and quick to get us drinks. Our section was very busy but she tended to us fairly well. Didn't catch her name though, or probably forgot it. Again it was a bit busy, and it was only about 9:30am on Saturday which tells me good things for the business, but it was a bit loud, maybe I was just cranky and hungry, but maybe some light tunes playing would sooth me? Anyways breakfast didn't take long at all to be served for how busy it was. Wife got a stack of apple pie or apple cobbler Belgium Waffles, can't remember what they called it. It was exactly what it sounds like, waffles with baked apples in it and dusted with cinnamon and powder sugar, topped with whipped cream. She loved it, but it was a bit sweet for me, all preferences I suppose. She also ordered a side of bacon, and home fries for us to share. Bacon was good, home fries were excellent. What I got was the IRISH BENEDICT. This was a slice of english toast, corn beef hash and a poached eggs with hollandaise sauce or what they called hollandaise, because when I got it the sauce was BROKEN. The sauce tasted good but... Come on? I don't know how that happened, it was just a bit of a turn off for me. The hash was just ok in my mind but, I'm rather spoiled by Corn beef hash since I went to the KC Dubliner for their Irish Breakfast that they do once a year and have been on a mission to find a place that does it better. Not this place, still will keep looking. Also had oatmeal with fresh fruit, very good. All and all, besides the hollandaise sauce on my benedict being broken, I am eager to try more of their menu Items. Will be back. Best breakfast place in the area for sure. read more

This was a great find for us when we were looking for a place to eat while we were in the area after wine tasting. The food was so good, & we enjoyed talking to the person who waited on us. We found out this is a family owned restaurant, & her dad owns the electric store next door. We loved the atmosphere that was based on Thomas Edison. It was very unique. Had our first meal here tonight with the family. I was so pleased with the food and the service, we'll definitely be back. I had the special which was a bacon wrapped chicken breast with spinach and goat cheese. The girls ordered a burger and a meatloaf and couldn't finish their meals. The portions are large and fairly priced. My husband enjoyed his Cobb salad. We finished the meal with the Belgian waffle sundae shared by all 4 of us. Mediocre service from the waitress, Bitter coffee, cold waffle (butter wouldn't even partially melt), and cold/shriveled potatoes(home fries)- the potatoes were obviously a few days old. We've had terrible customer service at this restaurant and the food was average. The entrance was an issue making the whole restaurant cold. I recommend other restaurants in the area where you aren't cold with average food. read more
