I like this place! The ambience is really cool, whether you're sitting at the bar, sitting indoors, or outdoors. This establishment is located within Tallahassee's old power plant and overlooks Cascades Park. It's a nice place to go for an afternoon drink (they have a decent happy hour!) and then walk around in the park. The food is pretty good too, I can recommend the French Dip sandwich! And they have some fun "games" at the bar, like a mystery beer that you can try to guess, etc. read more

First time LAST time at the Edison in Tallahassee 5/5/23 My review is based on food, ambiance and service. The one star is for the restaurant ambiance/decor up date features with fresh style. The bar, the main focal point of the restaurant was pretty and the cocktails were ok although they took forever to arrive. The area is also nice to walk around with pretty grounds. This is where the positive accolades stop! They had rented cheap birthday party tables and plastic chairs and expected us to sit on that as a table used for kids parties for an almost $500 dinner... really? Not a decoration, salt and pepper on the tables, not even a centerpiece a bud vase anything that said congratulations graduate. Other then the black and white photocopy menu. NOTHING!! I said to the hostess, I will not sit on a plastic wobbly picnic chair. They laid these tables so close it was uncomfortable for all. Literally eating on top of each other. This was definitely Not thought out and management should be held responsible for a poor job! It truly was extremely thoughtless and tacky! The Edison were very difficult reservations to be had, calling nonstop, leaving countless messages till we finally spoke to a someone and a $100 deposit to hold your reservation was required. I now ask myself why? We had a limited menu but that was not the issue. We placed our drink order with a very nice waiter who was busy and forgetful. Our drinks didn't get to us for 30 minutes. The drinks had not arrived and the apps arrived so we started with them thinking the drinks would arrive shortly. When we finished the apps the drinks had still NOT arrived. I had to ask for them as the waiter proceded to ask us for our dinner choices. I said we are not ordering till our cocktails arrive and we can savor them as we are parched! Oh your drinks ok ... obviously he forgot! The drinks when they finally arrived were ok and orders went in. We had to ask what is your special? What is the fish? Do you have soups (no)? He wanted us to order and get out. Such pressure yet there were plenty of empty tables (I wonder why...?). The food finally arrived and it was completely tasteless, bland Hospital food. Starting with $42 New York strip steaks cooked incorrectly with no taste at all, just awful! The pasta carbonara was so basic it tasted like my Hurried weekday cooking. It literally had bacon bits as the pancetta substitute ..Omg who were these chefs or lack there of! The only edible entree was a chop according to my daughter. No bread service at all. The apps were a Daytona dip $14 and cheese board $25 that was expensive for limited slices of cheese barely enough to share. We waited for a dessert menu and the waiter said they had NONE! Well I was very disappointed to say the least. So, NO dessert and NO bread service! Don't waist your money $$$ here, it's not a good dining experience at all. Our final bill was $460 for 7 one did not order a meal. Note they add a 3% charge for credit card and tip is included $72.30! read more

We are moving soon and really wanted to try this place. We finally made it in tonight. When we for there we were sat quickly since we had reservations. We got a great outside view of the park. The waitress came by and got our stink order and when she came back we ordered the nachos for an appetizer. I would not recommend the nachos. They were quite salty. The taste was alright but the cheese quickly cooled into a clump of mush. For an entree i got the burger since they bragged about having ground chuck in it. I also added the Brown sugar bacon. (Which i never received. Waste of $2.) The burger was not all that good. I had to wait around 10 minutes to get some ketchup and mustard to put on the burger. The sweet potato fries which came with it were very greasy and salty also. My wife got the st Augustine chicken and she loved that. She would highly recommend that. While eating there was a loud obnoxious noise that kept coming up. It would goo away after a few minutes but still was very distracting. I also got smacked in the face by the sunshade. It looked as though the cord holding it was ripped. We were thinking of dessert but after the sub par meal i passed. The Edison is my favorite restaurant in Tallahassee. It has beautiful ambiance with both in and outdoor seating options overlooking the amazing Cascades Park. I very much enjoy both their brunch and dinner fare. For brunch, my favorite is the West Coast Benedict, and my favorite dinner entree is the encrusted salmon. The ambiance, the food, I love it here! I've heard some mixed reviews, but I have never had a bad experience here. The salmon is absolutely delicious, my boyfriend gets steak and says it has always been great. I love the vibe inside, and outside you have a cute view of Cascades Park. It's a lovely evening, really. I've had events for my sorority here as well and it was enjoyable, although the hors d'oeuvres went very quickly and that isn't the restaurant's fault though. We went for the first time this past Saturday night, with the craziness that is move in weekend for students, tons of parents in town and a very crowded restaurant we were seated within 15 minutes without a reservation and had awesome service. They were out of the steak frites so I went with the meatloaf and wow, it is amazing! I'll definitely be back for the steak though. I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews for this place, and I get it. I've been here for brunch, for dinner and just for drinks and appetizers. This place is overpriced, and the food is not impressive. There's rarely anything surprising on the menu, and their takes on the classics tend to be pretty standard. In other words, the Edison is pretty generic and seems more like a franchise than a local spot. Is it a franchise?? That said, their food and drinks are good. I recommend the lobster roll as it tastes good and won't break the bank. During the holidays, try their made-to-order spiked eggnog. So good. Brunch here is pretty standard, but if you sit outside (and I always do) you get a great view of the park and its little man-made waterfall. Also, the service is great. The service and location are the main reasons I give the Edison 4 stars. I also like that, after I eat, I can walk downstairs and grab a coffee at the Power Plant. read more

We love this place! I was surprised to see a rating less than a 4 actually. We came here on my birthday and we thought it was so cool inside with that Edison lights all over and the trendy vibe. We came right at the end of happy hour and got a glass of wine, beer, and a charcuterie board which was $4 off for HH. Everything was delicious! I loved the options on the board and the wine was really good. The next time we came for dinner and I got the spare ribs, and others got the lamb chop and salmon. Everyone had raving reviews. It was all cooked so well and had great flavor to it. We also loved the atmosphere and the area surrounding. I know it would be a cool place to come during the day and hang out outside. The ambiance is still very nice. We had not been in a few years. My daughter requested to eat here before going back to college after Christmas break. We made a reservation and arrived early and were promptly seated. (Oddly enough a bartender came over and asked if we were seated there by someone - like we had just come in a chosen a table, that was weird.) We ordered the Southern Board appetizer. I will say, that was by far the best part of our meal! The 3 menu items we chose for our table included the fried chicken, smash burger and skirt steak. All of us agreed the food wasn't "terrible", but it certainly wasn't phenomenal either. The fried chicken batter became soggy due to so much sauce on it. The burger was "go hum" as far as flavor. The skirt steak was ok, but I felt like the chimichurri was overwhelming (maybe a personal preference & unrelated to their presentation). Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ate at The Edison yesterday and had a GREAT waitress. We started coming here after some friends wanted to meet up here for Brunch a few months ago. We always enjoy our food and the vibe. We had a little hiccup on yesterday and we won't hold it against our first waitress because everyone is entitled to a bad day just don't take it out on me the paying customer. Emma replaced the first waitress and when I tell you she gets the MVP Award. She should be the Lead trainer of all the wait staff. We will be telling all of our friends and family to ask for Emma. She is going places with the beautiful personality that she has. We started off with the buffalo dip. It is always good. The fish of the day is always my go to. I am never disappointed. Went for a stroll in Cascade park and found this little place! It's amazing! We sat in the patio with an overcast day and a light breeze making it an beautiful view and pleasant atmosphere. A large group of us dined here for our end of summer session meal. The food was great and there's a nice selection on the menu! The main reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because the air upstairs wasn't working, so it was extremely hot. Also, they seemed short staffed, so getting refills on drinks and filling other requests took a little longer than expected. However, the food we had was delicious! Had been planning to try this restaurant for a while; was finally able to do so; decided that it would be great to eat in an outdoor setting, specifically since it is such a beautiful day; sadly, it was a bit chillier than I anticipated, so we ended up eating inside, not as socially distanced as I would like, but felt that we were ok. The servers had on masks the entire time; however, I am still not totally comfortable dining in at restaurants while this country is still dealing with COVID-19. In any case, I ordered the flapjacks with fried chicken and sweet potato fries; my sister had the southern breakfast (fried chicken, eggs, and sausage gravy over a biscuit), with bacon and home fries on the side; my daughter had the chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. My daughter and sister also had mimosas, which they said were ok. Though my flapjacks (pancakes) were good, I expected them to be a bit more fluffy/thick; the thinness of the flapjacks reminded me of crepes a bit. The only tiny complaint I had was that my sweet potato fries weren't brought out with the rest of my meal; however, the server apologized for this and made it right. The fried chicken was delicious - not greasy, seasoned just right, and very crispy. All in all, we enjoyed our meals. We had a nice time; loved the ambiance. Once we were seated, we were forgotten, no water, no hello, nothing. The Edison has a problem with it's service staff, and unfortunately, it has cost them in losing customers. The Edison is located in on the edge of Cascades Park, a place I personally love doing my morning or afternoon work out, so the people watching from the outside patio of the Edison on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, or a weekday evening is amazing!
