Went here for dinner on Saturday . They don't take reservations so we had a 40min wait. Once we were seated it was another hour before we got our food. They said they had a party of 20 come in & were behind. Onto the food. 3 of us ordered the shrimp bucatini, it was good. It had marinated tomatoes, asparagus & topped with a parmasen cream sauce. It was very good, but unfortunately mine was not very hot & didn't have enough sauce. We already waited so long, didn't want to send back. Husband had pork chop over kimchi. Rainy night so I decided to try the place that had good reviews and menu and was across the street from the barber shop. Started with a scotch egg and a lavender caipirinha. The bar tender, Will, was very welcoming and made great suggestions for food. Music was a good mix of 80's/90's (Rage, Jimmy Meets World, Lumineers, etc.) Off to a great start with the Lavender Caipirinha. Scotch egg is amazing. The sausage is tasty, egg soft boiled perfectly and the mustard sauce and greens made it even better. Next I went a different than I envisioned. Eggplant Parmesan with loaded fries; Strange combo but excited for it to arrive.... The eggplant had some interesting flavors. The spicy red pepper sauce, arugula with lemon, and toasted rolled. We stopped by on our way through town. Due to the time change from Central to Eastern, we were the last table in for brunch at a little after 2. We had great service and the food was great. The hash browns covered in pimento cheese were delicious but could have been hotter. My Monte Christo was perfect in every way. It was lightly breaded battered, served piping hot, oozing cheese. The raspberry dipping sauce was excellent. The mushroom Benedict was amazing. It used lions mane mushrooms and was super tasty. The drinks were great and very reasonably priced. It's a bar atmosphere so they had a great play list going but it was loud if that's not your thing. Stopped by Liberty Bar and Grill in Tallahassee for the first time, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The burger I ordered was really solid -- cooked just right and super flavorful. Fries were on point too. Definitely tasted like a staple and local favorite. The place was really nice inside -- great vibe, awesome ambiance, and a cool spot to hang out for a bit. I did notice the craft cocktails were a bit on the pricey side, though. They look fancy and all, but I'm not sure the cost matched the overall experience. Service was the main drawback for me. Our waitress only made it by about three times during a 90-minute visit. She seemed super busy and may have been the only one waitstaff member working the floor, but the lack of attentiveness definitely showed. Since it was my first time there, I would've appreciated a few recommendations, but none were offered. I think my experience might've been a little better sitting at the bar instead of a table. We decided to give this place another try after being unimpressed five years ago and my goodness was it a total bust. The place was about half full. Our server promptly took our order for three cocktails (no food) and 30 minutes (!!!) later came back to tell us that they were out of a liquor for one of the cocktails and we needed to choose something else. Fine. 20 minutes later, we still didn't have drinks. No more communication from our server. We simply walked out. Terrible, terrible service. How is it possible that you order drinks and don't receive them for almost an hour? And who knows for how long we would have waited. On a not-so-busy Sunday night. Been coming here off and on since it opened. The problem this place has always been it's inconsistency across all areas. On a positive note, I have never had bad food or drinks here. That's the best thing the Liberty has going for it. That's where it ends. Now, the cons. It is very difficult to get a drink at the bar unless you know someone or are a particularly hot girl, irregardless of the gender of the bartender. Table service is mixed, sometimes the wait staff is attentive, but they almost always take forever. Getting food in a timely manner is always going to be easier during their weekend brunches. Dinner will always take some time, which is fine if you're okay being there a while to drink with friends and talk, but if you're just there for dinner, no time, no drinks, this is not the place for it. Probably the worst thing is the waitors themselves though. They are hired for being good looking, not good at waiting. You will never see them write anything down, when they clearly need to, and their behavior is noticeably pretentious whether you're stone cold sober or three sheets to the wind. read more

I've been many times for brunch and my go to is the steak and eggs the eggs are always perfectly poached, I order the steak medium rare and it's always great. Liberty is not my favorite local spot, though it is a great place to meet friends for drinks or take your SO for brunch. The upsides of Liberty are that it's centrally located, the interior is classy, the food and drinks are all quality (I like the scotch egg ($7) and pierogies ($9 for 3)), and it's nextdoor to a coffee shop and across the street from a brewery. The downsides are it's pricey, portions are small, it can get crowded and loud, and the best parts of the menu tend to rotate off the menu. How are they doing, from a customer's perspective, during the pandemic shut down? Hours: Their hours kind of suck. They're open 5 days a week for 5 hours starting at 4. Though, tbh, I don't know what their normal schedule is. Menu: They're offering a limited menu, but from 4 of their establishments (Liberty, El Cocinero, Hawthorn, Bar 1903). Ease of ordering: Ordering is fairly convenient--the second time around. They decided to go with an app I've never heard of, so you have to create an account and you have to sign in through Liberty's website. But once you've done that, it's a piece of cake. Tipping is another matter. The app doesn't let you tip, and they're not accepting cash, so if you want to tip you have to do it later through Venmo. The app also offers delivery, and the driver is a Seven Hills employee. Contactless service: Liberty is doing great here. If you get delivery, they leave it at your door. If you do curbside pickup, they bring your food out on a cart and then step back while you retrieve your food. The food is packaged in those compostable-pulp-lookin containers which are then placed inside a paper bag which is then placed in a cardboard box. read more

It's my first time in Tallahassee and this restaurant was a pleasant spontaneous decision. My boyfriend and I ordered fries to start which were a perfect thick cut that were still crispy. Man, I wish I had more fry bits with the skin *chefs kiss* & if only they had a special sauce to go with them it would be perfect. I ordered the no way rose drink which is not what you think but you should try it. For dinner we had the steak Diane and the Bistro filet kabobs. My boyfriends food was hot mine was not, but I said something and they made me the most perfect plate of food, that was hot and fully loaded to perfection. This one hurts to write. I've been coming here for years, told scores of folks that this was my favorite place to eat, and I've even hosted an Unofficial Yelp Event here for my Yelp friends to try out Liberty. Not anymore. The past few visits have been pretty lackluster, today was the visit that broke me and forced this review. I had a former colleague and his family traveling through Tallahassee and I wanted to spend some time with them and to take them to "my favorite" restaurant. We went to Liberty. Actually, I called ahead and asked what the wait time was for 7. I get that they don't take reservations, but the person answering the phone couldn't even give me an idea on wait times. All she told me was that she has several large tables sat and they should be up soon. She told me I could get in the wait list once I arrived at the restaurant. Okay, we grabbed our stuff and headed out. I get to the restaurant and we're greeted fairly promptly. I ask the gal if she is who I spoke to, only so I could put a face to the voice, she replies with, "we don't take reservations". Heh, I get it. I wasn't even asking about that, thanks for jumping to conclusions. Were told that they don't have any tables for us and that we can wait at the bar. My former colleague's family consists of 3 year old, so we ask if we can sit at the high top by the bar to wait, we didn't want a 3 year old at the bar. We were told it was fine, but she could offer no estimate on time. No problem, we'll order some drinks when we hit that table. We sat here for 25 minutes, guess how many folks asked us if we would like a drink, or an appetizer. Yup, none. It wasn't that busy - especially at the bar (maybe two patrons). We finally get a table and the server is horrible. We've had her wait on us before. I order three scotch eggs for the table (Saturday brunch), and they come out. No plates come with. I literally flag her down after 7 minutes and she hurries off to get them - wait - she stopped and hung out at the bar talking to coworkers instead. I'm glaring at her at this point and finally grab some poor other gal that was walking by for plates, which she got for our now cold scotch eggs. We order food. Kitchen has been taking FOREVER with food on my last few visits and this time is no different. The restaurant was thinning out due to the game, and we were the last "big" order. Two mid-rare Liberty Burgers and one ordered medium came out like burnt hockey pucks. This has been a trend lately. Historically, I've done the "$10 beer for the kitchen" add-on, but I've stopped that after the last 3 visits. Service has suffered for a while and now the kitchen is slow and they send out food that isn't to order. What is happening to my favorite restaurant? Is anyone there paying attention? Some friends and I came here for brunch today. I told them that we should probably avoid the omelettes even though the descriptions sounded so good. I ordered the Shakshouka which was a generous portion of an African stew with two poached eggs on top. Tons of flavor- absolutely loved it! Others at my table ordered the classic, chicken and waffles, and elote toast. Everyone was very pleased. I wish they served hot Lucky Goat coffee. Our server, Rhiannon, (cool name) had no idea what brand of coffee they served. It wasn't very good. They have LG cold brew though. The service was ok, not great. She offered us more coffee shortly after giving us our first coffee then left us with empty mugs for a while. The ladies restroom is cute. It's painted confederate blue with cute mirrors. The noise level in the restaurant is just too much. There is nothing to absorb the sound and it gets louder the more mimosas and bloody Mary's are being served. My friends and I tried to have a conversation, but we realized we were screaming just to be heard so we left.
