Gathered with my siblings here for lunch. Pretty chill vibes with a big bar area up front. Ordered the single sparks burgee with mixed greens. So good and the greens were amazing with the vinaigrette. Service was prompt and food hot. Drinks are self serve with soda fountain and iced tea options. I decided to come check this place out since it has been on my foodie list for a while. My son and I came here on a Saturday night. That was a little rainy and gloomy. It was about 30 minutes away from my house so I was indecisive if if I wanted to drive that far for food. This place is located in like a mini mall there weren't many cars out in the parking lot and they really weren't that many people inside. But you could tell there's regulars there because when we walked in they were like we don't recognize them lol It is not table service you order at the cash register what we used to call it. They do not have Coke products. They only have Pepsi so I ended up just getting a water. My son got a sweet tea that he liked. He started off with a beer, cheese dip, and that came with pita bread and chips. The server threw some toast and that was really good too. I ordered a cup of the French onion soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the Quattro (Four) cheese flatbread. My son ended up getting the spark burger with mac & cheese. He was dazzled by the burger, but not so much the mac & cheese. I ordered a water. He ordered a sweet tea. I had to ask for a refill for him and I never got a refill for my water. They really weren't a lot of people there so it wouldn't be hard to refill drinks. There is a bar there with a bartender it might be better to sit there so you can get more attention It was definitely a 70s 80s theme in there. In the bathroom, they had a cassette box with real cassettes in there. I really did like the decor. And they do have several TVs in there to watch sports. I was on my way to be a guest on the Blerd Survival Guide podcast and I had a little time to kill so I popped up over to The Electric after being told many times to try it. So what are the odds that this place was only 3 minutes from my destination! Anyways I popped in and checked out the inside and it was a very cool, comfortable, and hype like establishment. I put my order in online and didn't go in until it was the said time they gave me on the order. When I went in my food wasn't ready and so I had to wait probably another 30 minutes. Staff was working hard though so I wasn't stressing about it to hard. Staff was nice and offered me water while I waited. I finally get my food head back to the car and proceeded to unbox everything. I gotta admit that visually the food looked very good. First up I had the Classic which is a Flatbread that consists of pepperoni, conecuh sausage, mozzarella, provolone cheese, and basil. This ended up being very good. Nothing crazy to wow about but it definitely got the job done. Flavors were decently balanced I think my only grip with this is the pizza sauce could use a bit more work. I still would other this again anyways so don't let that stop you. 7.5/10 Lastly I got The Ballpark which consisted of country sausage, chili, cheddar cheese, yellow mustard, scallions, and hugged tight in a toasted bun. This was probably my favorite thing. The chili was so hot and tasted as if it was homemade. If it's not homemade I want to known where they buy it because it was pretty darn good. I'd eat it on its own! The sausage was very flavorful as well. The only issue with this was the bun it's definitely well toasted it was way to hard for me and shredded the roof of my mouth I would personally change the bun to something else but that'd just me. Either way this bad boy is a will order again and I give it a 8.5/10. Definitely go try this place when you get the chance it was really good and I hope I can come back soon! read more

I grew up in Bluff Park, and worked at the garden shop that used to be in the location that the Electric is now occupying. For whatever reason, I hadn't tried this place out yet. I am glad I did! My wife and I love a good smash burger; when we saw it on the menu, we had to see about it. We've been disappointed by far too many restaurant burgers, so our expectations were tempered. Once we saw the burgers, we knew somebody in the kitchen knew what they were doing. It was delicious! Perfectly thin patties with a great crust and melted cheese that was carmalized on the edges. We also got the seasoned chips, which tasted great. My only note for the burger is that with the sweetness of the brioche bun, it could use a little more salt and/or acidity (the sauce was phenomenal, perhaps more of that!). We ordered takeout, and it was right on time and the people inside were prompt. The restaurant seems well put together, and the bar looked to be well stocked. Overall, I am glad this place is in Bluff Park and I know we will return! read more

Service people were absolutely rude. Came in to eat and was holding a shirt just for one employee to get all mad. Sat back down just to hear her complaining about us in the kitchen right next to us. Went on and on for 5 minutes as if we weren't paying customers sitting and eating. Never have I had someone do something so rude like this. Will never eat here again. read more

Really good local place for lunch. My daughter and I stopped by today and enjoyed some delicious food and good service. I went with the Downhome - bologna sandwich and she tried the Mitchell-cheese, bacon, apple and hot honey. The bread was really good as were the homemade chips. They had really good sweet tea. My friend invited me to lunch at The Electric. To tell you the truth, I had never heard of it until we visited, but I'm so glad she introduced me to it. Tucked away in a Bluff Park neighborhood, this is a hidden gem, and if you are looking for something new, you should definitely try it out!! When we visited, I was super impressed with the number of craft beers that were available. They also had a great selection of fun cocktails. I ordered the Frozen Blue Monday which is a pretty drink with vodka, blue, pineapple, and coconut. If you dread Mondays, drop by after work and try one. It will put a smile on your face. Also, check out their Happy Hour specials For food, I ordered a flatbread. It was really good and surprisingly went well with the cocktail. I definitely want to go back, especially for their Tuesday Trivia nights. read more

Has the potential to be a good spot, but it's not there yet. I liked the venue, idea of the menu, and idea of the bar. However, it needs a lot of work. The reuben I ordered was average; it had slaw on there instead of sauerkraut, which I needed. I was expecting fries, but there were only chips instead. So I ordered soup on the side. The French onion soup was pretty disappointing. More like broth only instead of anything creamy. Also, I didn't see any beer on draft. They had a wide variety of canned beer, but $6 with no draft option isn't good. The menu was also pretty limited (no burgers!), so I'm hoping they will have more options there too. read more

Really cool sandwich shop with full bar! I met my friend for lunch. Someone came over as soon as we walked in the door and handed us menus and told us to sit anywhere including outside which was nice since we were the only ones there! I ordered the curry tomato soup to start. It was delicious. I didn't find it to be the least bit spicy as one reviewer complained about. I would definitely get it again. They have salads, sandwiches and flatbreads. I got a sandwich. My friend got a flatbread. We both enjoyed our food very much! I got the Blue Monday to drink. It was really good! After we were done eating, the owner came over and chatted with us which I thought was really nice. He told us about their Tuesday trivia night so we are going to come back for that. One of my new favorites for lunch. I tried the Boardman, OH (Pastrami & Beer Cheese), the only thing that could make it better would be a freshly baked bun. The Martin's potato roll was good, but fresh baked bread makes everything better. It will be hard to try some of the other options, as good as they sound they don't have the extra beer cheese to dip the kettle chips in. I didn't get one this time but the Cereal Bars were huge and a bargain price. Will definitely try one next time. read more

Met some friends for lunch on a Tuesday at The Electric. The space is cool and eclectic. Restaurant was mostly empty except for a solo diner at the bar and a 6-top. I had the tomato curry soup and a the rosebud salad. I really like the soup, salad was good too. Just "basic". We had to order at the bar - which is fine. But these was no way for us to know that, so we sat at our table waiting for service since the restaurant is very much set up that way. It wasn't until the 6-top got up and ordered at the bar that we realized that we should do the same. A table card letting us know this would be helpful for first time guests. read more

We did a takeout order and we were not at all disappointed! The food was very fresh and ready quickly. We started off with the buffalo hummus and pita, which was delicious. Since I had a mad craving for pastrami and beer cheese, I opted for the Boardman OH-however l did leave off the onions. It was absolutely delicious! The bread was fresh and soft, and the pastrami was seasoned so well. I wish the beer cheese could also be a soup, since we have so few places that have it in a soup-it was that good!!! We also shared a cheesy flatbread which was a larger portion than I expected and it was great! The service is slipping. The food was fine, the lack of quality service was pathetic and it's no secret they are existing because the area is desperate for a bar and food spot. Today was a disappointment. There is no way an owner was there. If you're not doing your job well, own up to it and apologize. 5 stars all the way-fantastic little venue with a hip vibe-classic bar menu with variations of country favorites (like the iconic bologna sandwich) and perfectly made cocktails. I had to try many things it all looked delicious and I'm glad I did. The pizza was a spin on a childhood favorite-a pickle sandwich with cheese on toast The tomato curry soup was a home run-an absolutely perfect blend of curry. I was sad when my bowl was empty! The Boardman, Oh sandwich was ooey gooey with beer cheese that had a nice snap of beer tart and salt. Both drinks I had were amazing and well balanced- I'm coming back-I must have the bologna and cheese sandwich with chips (The Downhome) and another cocktail-or two! I found myself in Bluff Park tonight around supper time and happened upon The Electric. I'm always up for a new eatery so I went inside. The bar was packed and a couple of the tables were occupied, but there was plenty of room for a hungry traveler, so I traveled on over to the Order Here sign. The friendly cashier asked if I was dining in (I don't know why people are so surprised at the sight of solo diners) and I told her that no one could tolerate me but I promised to behave. I also told her it was my first time here and she recommended a couple of dishes, including her favorite. I ordered the TG sammich. She said it came with a side and I ordered the "tomato soup". She corrected me and said it was the "curry" tomato soup. I have the world's wimpiest palate so I asked her how spicy it was. "Oh, It's not spicy at all," she promised. Trusting sort that I am, I took her at her word and got the soup. She gave me my drink (serviced in cans, so I assume no free refills) and a number to place on my table. While I waited for my food I amused myself with the Trivial Pursuit cards on the table. I'd only made it through a few cards when the food arrived. I took a bite of the "not spicy at all curry tomato soup." Liar, liar, pants on fire! Not spicy at all, indeed! Not only were her pants on fire, so was my tongue! Well...maybe not on fire, but that soup was spicy! Not crazy spicy. I mean, I ate every drop and if I'd been home I would have licked the bowl. It was spicy soup, but it was good soup. I'd order it again, even knowing the spiciness level. The sammich was better than good. It's served warm. The slaw on the sammich is a nice contrast both in temp and texture. The noise level is perfect. You can easily have a conversation here without screaming. Staff checked on me often while I was eating, but not often enough to get on my nerves. After a quick visit, I can tell this place is going to be a neighborhood institution! This area of town doesn't seem to have any place for families, friends, or individuals to gather for food and drink, so The Electric is a welcome addition to this locale. The Electric has a bar area, tables, and a lovely covered outdoor patio for those who prefer the fresh air. I appreciated The Electric's wealth of natural lighting as well as quirky, retro-inspired decor. Yes, they have a Velvet Elvis! The other patrons I noticed were families and individuals who were unwinding at the bar. I ordered a ginger ale and the Cuesta sandwich, a delicious concoction comprised of a potato roll, ham, cheese, roasted red peppers, and a delightfully "secret-saucy" aioli. I got a side of fresh fruit which was crisp, sweet, and perfect. Can't wait to go back and try something new...or eat the exact same thing! read more

What a pleasant experience! We heard about this new restaurant in Hoover / Bluff Park, so we came by to see what it's all about. We were welcomed at the door by a young lady (I believe her name is Brooklyn), and she offered us menus, explaining that we would order at the register, and she would deliver food to the table. She was enthusiastic and competent in walking us through the menu and getting the order placed. We ordered the TG sandwich and the Camilla - both were delicious. The TG is a pepperoni, ham and swiss, and the Camilla is a chicken with cheese and white BBQ sauce. Even the freshly made slaw is really impressive. We were there early for dinner (around 5 pm on a weekday), so we had the place practically to ourselves. It seems that they have happy hour deals at their bar area until 6 pm, so there were a few people stopping by for a drink. With both indoor and outdoor seating, a bar area, amazing food, wonderful service and reasonable prices, this place should succeed in the long run. I look forward to coming back soon. read more

What a neat little sandwich shop! I went here and was super pleased by the service-- everyone was SO nice. The sandwiches are also pretty good sizes, as well. The environment of the place is very pleasant, it's small, colorful, and very personal. When I went in, we were immediately greeted, and sat quickly. The drinks are a good price for the amount of alcohol you get as well. I like that they have outdoor seating as well as games outside. It's a good place to be if you want a relaxing, but fun place to go with a friend or partner. The only thing I would say, is the fruit that I had on the side of my sandwich had a tiny gnat on it, however, that's easy to fix and I just picked it off. Otherwise, my visit was superb! I will definitely be back. The other suggestion I have is that I would like to see more sides on the menu, as it is very small. But, they definitely achieve what they meant to do with this little hole in the wall. Also the only bar in bluff park to my knowledge. read more

Pleasant cozy atmosphere with a large bar and a nice choice of bar food. It was half full on a Sunday afternoon. I had the pear salad which I enjoyed but felt cheated with only about 1/4 of a pear sliced into 6 to 8 pieces on the salad. More pear, please!!Red onion, nuts and homemade balsamic plus feta cheese rounded it out. Decent serving for $10. Hubby got the pastrami ham sandwich which was warm, a little spice to it and delish. It had a generous amount of meat. They had flatbreads and soup and about 5 sides. They offer happy hour drinks; located near the newish Piggly Wiggly in Bluff Park part of Birmingham. I visited The Electric for the first time today. I placed an order for their Veggie Melt sandwich while on my lunch break at work. As soon as I walked in, I was acknowledged and treated like a priority until I left. However,the restaurant wasn't too busy at the moment, but the customer service was still good.I only had to wait about 10 minutes and my food was done. The veggie melt came on perfectly toasted bread. It's is packed with fresh, sautéed vegetables, gooey melted cheese, and a rich, savory sauce/dressing that actually tasted pretty good. One of Birminghams best kept secrets. A local sandwich shop that has such a great variety of options that it's hard to choose each time you go. They also have a full bar and a great beer selection. Combine that with a patio that is super kid friendly and a very attentive, friendly staff and you've got the perfect place for an afternoon cocktail with friends or for a Saturday night dinner with the entire family. We came by this place unexpectedly for lunch one day in October. Hidden in a shopping plaza - I noticed the sign. I am glad we stopped in during a not busy time of day 2:00 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. We sat down and ordered the Buffalo hummus which was full of flavor and not spicy at all. The restaurant was empty so that did lead to a small lapse in service as the servers were doing other things and somewhat lost track of us but that was not a huge deal. The tomato curry soup was good but not necessarily what I thought it would be since there was not alot of spice. The Cuban was the special that day and while I love the flavor it was a tiny bit dry. We will come back for sure and try some other items now that we know this place exists! read more

If you are looking for something to eat and drink that is light on your stomach, this would be a nice place to try. This restaurant is tucked off in Bluff Park and is perfect for bringing the kids by after school or camp. They do have happy hour from 3pm-6pm with beer, wine and cocktail specials. I ordered the Baron (polish sausage) with the slaw on the side and kettle chips. The food was just okay, but the customer service was wonderful!
