Our recent visit to Elegant Farmer has me so excited for another return in fall (aka peek season to get all of their incredible autumn-themed products). My in-laws were in town visiting and happened to be passing through that area. It was a must-stop seeing as my father-in-law's favorite food is apple pie, and Elegant Farmer has undoubtedly the best in the state! We opted for the biggest, 9″ pie for $24.99. Worth every penny. Once a year I'm reminded how dang delicious they are. Make your stop here for not only pie, but endless other goods from their shop like pastas, cheese, sweets, jams, honey, dressings, popcorn, meats, juices, and beyond! So many classics not to be missed. We'll be back in Sept/Oct time for apple picking and all of the fall-family-fun they have on-site!

Great time here for their harvest fest. They've extended it to the full month of October so you have some time to stop by! Plenty of parking on the side lawn or you can try and grab a spot in their lot. The staff look to do what they can to keep people moving. It was rainy this Saturday so it wasn't as busy as it normally is. Still busy but not jam packed. They offer a stand inside a side building for lunch - ranges from bbq sandwiches, pot pies and pickles. You can also grab a slice of apple or caramel apple pie or a caramel apple for dessert. The prices are what you'd expect but their pie is unique and worth it. Always a fun stop this time of year and love enjoying a pot pie on a hay bale. Stop by if you haven't!

The store was a fun place. The design of entrance like a silo was cool. I was there mainly for the fruit pie. I went for a blueberry apple pie. That was really good. That was also the best thing I had from here. I tried one of the fruit muffins, and that was excellent as well. I also took home a Strawberry banana bread and a tart cherry juice, both of which were good.

I just adore it here. Truly a fall-time staple. I look forward to my family and I's annual apple picking and grocery store stop here all year. The look of the farm itself is very coordinated and festive. The grocery story also fits this, and the whole place just looks on brand and fun. A personal favorite of mine here is the pumpkin bar, the cold apple cider, the apple cider donuts, the fresh picked apples, and especially the sandwiches on kaiser rolls--but really everything is delicious. You simply cannot go wrong here. Also, the staff are always cheery and pleasant.

I've been here twice now around apple picking season and it is an absolute joy! I have loved every experience here. The parking lot is easy to navigate and while it's on the grass, it's well marked with plenty of spots. They have free entry into the apple orchards and you can pay for added fun like a hay ride or to go into the corn maze. We opted for just apple picking and picked up a 1/2 peck bag and their print out guide of what color ribbons go with which apples. My friends and I had so much fun exploring the grove, trying apples, climbing trees and ladders and taking photos while filling our bag with our favorite apple varieties. My personal favorites are the Cortland and Crispin apples. They are sweet, juicy and beautiful. I ended up mostly getting these varieties but others we enjoyed were the Jonathan, Macoun, McIntosh and Ida Reds. On our visit there were thirteen varieties available. My 1/2 peck was $15- a steal when you include the fun of picking and exploring the grounds. It was really cool to see couples, families, friends and more out enjoying apple picking and there was plenty of space where it didn't feel too crowded. Across from the apple picking is the real shopping, they have an indoor market as well as a smaller food court area that does some items and caramel apples. The store has everything you could imagine from coffee and cocoa to honey roasted ham, fresh pies baked in paper bags and cheese curds. I even bought some dog treats to bring home to Oslo. It's easy to stock up on your seasonal favorites or shop locally for gifts. My friends and I had so much fun and will have amazing memories long after our apples and pie are eaten.

I have one word for this place. Expensive! $25 for a pie? Other items you can buy at Woodmans much cheaper. This is definitely for the tourist. I was very disappointed.

The Elegant Farmer is chock full of delights both broadly available and homemade loaded with friendly employees and a homey, welcoming vibe. The homemade goods are really why you'll want to make the trip though. The apple pie is as good as the legend suggests and the muffins are both huge and delicious.

This was my first time coming for Apple Picking with my family and really enjoyed our time here at the Elegant Farmer. I looked at several apple picking farms but this place came recommended from a friend who has been here before and told me how much she loved it. We bought tickets for the hayrides which us took to the apple orchards and then the corn maze after. They were $6 per person for each. If you come with a big group then this adds up - just something to keep in mind. I also liked that they had the option of half peck, full peck etc. and we could take one per family instead of some other places where it looked like each person had to buy one bag which could be a lot for one family if you are not planning to use up all the apples soon. After we did our apple picking we went to the corn maze which was so interesting. It was not easy but so fun. They do give you a map but i dont think the map helped me at all.. we had to kind of use our intuition and follow some other folks who were also busy trying to discover their path. After our experience there we went across the street to pick up some goodies from their store. It was super crowded but they had an excellent collection of everything and anything. I picked up their famous apple pie baked in a bag and it was super yummy. What a treat for the entire family!

I'm not a sweet freak by any means and I don't have a sweet tooth compared to the average person so I don't order desserts or buy sweets at the grocery store regularly but I definitely know when I see the good stuff so I will get something sweet. Basically what I'm saying is you won't catch me with a candy bar and the likes but I will occasionally get a sweet treat if it's a high quality spectacular sweet thing. I'm no pie connoisseur by far but the Elegant Farmer has the best DAM pies that keep me coming back for them, I will make the drive. No matter what pie I get it's fuc#ing delicious and the crust is the super star by far because its so sweet and crunchy, almost like brittle like with a great pie filling of your choice. The pies are delicious definitely but that crust is so good and why I keep getting them, honestly I get the pie for the crus. BEST dam pies around so look at my pictures and take one home because you won't be disappointed.

A typical commercial orchard with multiple ways to take your money without any of the charm of a real farmer/orchard visit. Terrible crowds.

DiTullio's was a cute little place with a small store and small outside patio!! The sandwiches all have names but I don't remember. :( The food was good. I really liked the freshness of products!!! The bread was great. We ordered 4 sandwiches. The tuna which was Italian style yellowfin tuna ( in oil )...fresh and delicious. Not fishy or tinny ?? at all. Very simple but decent sandwich. Nothing special. I believe it was $11.95. Then the Italian beef panini. Again, great bread. It was like a Rosemary Focaccia bread!!! The best flavors but the Italian beef itself tasted like Steak-umms!!! :(. Don't get me wrong, back in the day, I loved me some steak-umms after bar hopping but not for $14.95 pic below Then came the Roasted red pepper Caprese. Beautiful!!! Freshest ingredients. Tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella, artichokes, it was delicious EXCEPT a little salt and pepper would have really lit that sandwich up!!!!! Pic below I ate half and brought the other half home just to test my theory!!!! AAAA-MAZING!!!! Lastly, the turkey and artichoke sandwich which we thought was going to be on the same FANTASTIC ITALIAN BREAD THE OTHERS WERE SERVED ON- nope!!!! It came on like multigrain bread!!!!! Wah-wah!!!! While I do like this bread, not from an Italian deli!!!! Sorry. Not a good choice. Italian deli = Italian bread!!!!! Service was good but the girls I would think if this place got slammed for lunch would sink!!!! Just saying!!! But they were courteous and made a decent sandwich. Overall, for the area, it's a must try. Definitely better quality but expect to pay for it!!! Check it out! A little too pricey ----- 4 sandwiches for $60!!! No way. I could go to a great Italian deli/storefront in Oakbrook terrace and get way more bang for my buck!!!! Take a nice ride on a Saturday afternoon and get lunch!!!! Interested in the name, message me?? Store products seemed a bit much but you be the judge! Check out DiTullio's for fresh Italian ingredients but expect to pay a bit more for them!!!

It was when we attempted to go in that we noticed that they did not open for 15 minutes. Thus the empty parking lot. What happened over the next 15 minutes was something we have never experienced before. Cars began pulling in 2 and 3 at a time. People were walking up in groups to stand and wait for them to open. Keep in mind this was December and it was pretty cold outside. The closer we got to the time they opened, the more people that arrived. It kind of felt like black Friday shopping. People kept lining up and before you knew it, the parking lot was almost full. Wow. All for good reason as we got inside. Tenutas' is a one stop shop. They have pre-made foods, frozen foods, deli hot food, alcohol, of course some cheese, you name it. We picked up some Italian sausage, some frozen ravioli with their homemade sauce and a pack of their Italian beef. We really enjoyed the ravioli and the homemade sauce was delicious. Being a Chicago guy, the Italian beef was good, just not Chicago quality. The mild Italian sausage was very good and we look forward to enjoying the additional links that we have left. Very popular place that we would definitely visit again when we are back in the area.
