We had some time to kill before dropping my daughter off at tennis camp at UW Whitewater and stopped for some years and beverages. My daughter ordered a chocolate covered donut. It was better than most bakery donuts. Soft and moist. It wasn't s as heavy as a cake donut but it had more body than a raised donut. The chocolate frosting was a good chocolate flavor without excessive sweetness. We split a chocolate chip cookie. It was full of chocolate chunks, and large chips. The cake was delicious! We had a three tier and the exterior of the cake was cream cheese frosting. Each tier was a different flavor. Red velvet, Strawberry, and Carrot Cake. My husband and I had the sweet spot cater dessert for our wedding rehearsal dinner and wedding day. Everything was absolutely perfect and we would recommend the Sweet Spot 100 times over. Their cake is so moist and flavorful. Not only was everything delicious, the cakes and cupcakes were beautifully frosted. Everything looked so elegant, just like we wanted. The online ordering process for the bake house is a breeze. We loved that we could include inspiration pictures. It did take a bit for us to hear back about an order confirmation though. I travel to White Water about twice a year for Camp. I love the little town feel and the run of everything with very little traffic. So, I'm a Latte guy and appreciate a good Coffee shop. Honestly I'm mostly a Starbuck's regular. The nearest Starbucks is about 25 minutes away and we thought we'd give The SweetSpot a try. I'm sure glad we did! The SweetSpot is located in a small college town on the edge of nowhere and they absolutley nail what they do. The drinks are awesome and made with care. Though they're great, the desserts are the star. The counter is filled with fresh never frozen treats that will have you coming back for more. I want a cream dessert right now! The bottom line is this place is 5-Star good and will hit your Sweet Spot. Give them a try and save a few bucks on the purchase and a few bucks on gas. read more

Stopped by for a coffee during a visit to Whitewater. Appreciated the drive thru accommodation and social distancing measures in place (Curbside service only at time of visit). Order an iced oat latte in the drive thru, and drove to the pickup window with it practically waiting for me. Quick service, friendly staff, fantastic lattes. The need for better trays for beverages is absolutely needed. While receiving 4 drinks with the most flimsy tray all drinks went in the car floor. When confronted the issue to the girls inside, they were not too helpful in trying to resolve the issue. Be aware of the flimsy low quality trays. read more

I hosted a bridal shower for our nephew's fiancee and special ordered a 1/4 sheet cake. The lemon cake with cream cheese frosting was absolutely delicious. But (pun intended) the artful decoration was the icing on the cake! Literally, I sent a copy of the invitation to Ashley Valentine and the decorator matched it perfectly! It was a big hit even before we all tasted it! Ashley said the 1/4 sheet would serve 20-24 and she was right on the mark! If I lived here I would be at The SweetSpot every single day. This place was recommended to me while on a work trip, so much so that my coworker asked me to bring her back some pastries. I looked them up prior to heading there and was already excited for what I was going to order. Everything I had was amazing and everything else that my friends ordered looked great too. The first day I enjoyed a cold brew coffee and the baked quinoa/oatmeal dish. Such a unique breakfast and way better than just regular oatmeal. The second day I had the divinity latte and the garlic breath bagel. All of it hit the spot and wasn't very expensive either! Their pastries looked delightful and were priced really low - which is great if you're needing to pick up a gift or treat for someone. They even had mini birthday cakes - so cute! This place is very, very small. Like, super tiny. They basically have a little menu for regular food and drink, but amazing desserts. I guess that's what most people come here for. I stopped in here on a quick visit to Whitewater before I had to hit the road. It's a really cute little spot & this a great little Wisconsin town. I had plain coffee, which they called dark roast, but it wasn't all that dark. Maybe I just like mine extra rich? That's probably it. Regardless, I needed an extra shot of espresso in mine. Next time, I'll know. The highlight was the service and the cherry scone. From what the barista told me, they don't always have these cherry scones, but mine was outstanding. Thank you SweetSpot for providing vegan options! You can get your coffee drinks here made with soy, almond, or coconut milk. They also have vegan brownies, carrot cake bar, and cinnamon rolls. The brownie and carrot cake bar are fantastic, non-vegans would also love this. The cinnamon rolls gave a good taste but the texture is off, these are gluten free, so I think that is the cause of the texture issue. read more

Love this and the cafe. It's sad every few years when the regular employees move on from college, we get used to you while you're working there! Margot is super friendly, and idk where the "have a magical day" guy went, but his greetings always added a fun element! We remember some of the original workers, and certain ones since. The cakes are amazing, the baked goods as well for a sugar rush. We have cut out a lot of sugar from our diet so we don't visit as often as we used to, but I still recommend them! Great place for birthday cakes (or any other type of event). Been going here since they opened the cafe about 12 years ago. We used to live a block away & I LOVED IT. The staff was awesome & super friendly & personable! We don't go as often now, as we moved out of Whitewater; but still love a trip back. However, as is normal with a college town, the staff changes, & recently a lot of the staff is just not personable at the bakehouse or the cafe. I find a couple still are. But, must be the "newer generation" that doesn't know how to talk to ppl. But I try to make light conversation if the time allows & they don't crack a smile or try to reply. uncomfortable. :-( There was a while there they were getting a lot of my orders & my sisters (who frequents there also) wrong. But I've had a few cakes & cupcakes made through Karen & they are always AMAZING! Aesthetically & in taste! She is very easy to communicate with,& always does awesome! I'd totally recommend Sweet Spot for any special occasion dessert. And, of course,my favorite...the coffee, hot or cold brew. Yummy! I only gave 4 stars Bc of the staff lately. read more

I love this place. I've tried a wide variety of their drinks and baked goods and haven't had anything that wasn't good. The only thing is that sometimes they aren't stellar (which is basically what you come to expect from the excellent quality). The scones are fantastic and I ask every time what they are if it doesn't pop up on facebook for me in the morning. They're never too sweet nor too dry. You won't go wrong with any of the baked goods here. I've ordered a variety of items over the years from both SweetSpot locations and the bakery items are worthy of their own location. This mother and daughter team has put something really special together to make it a must-stop in Whitewater, even if just for a quick dessert with the Cupcake of the Month or any of their other fantastic offerings. We did a wedding cake testing for my partner's mom for her wedding and she got her cake here after our difficult recommendation between several great choices. The decorations were a huge hit at the wedding! I usually get a coffee drink when I'm there and they're good to me, but I don't have a refined espresso pallette. However, what I have gotten hooked on is the mini-growler (or howler) you can purchase and refill with cold brew coffee. As I drink almost exclusively iced coffee, there is simply nothing better. I normally wouldn't turn to writing a review to comment on my drinks but I don't have time in the mornings to do anything but take the drink I'm handed and pay the price I'm given. I make an hour drive every morning and the sweetspot was my go to coffee house, but I roll the dice whenever I go. One of your morning openers is fantastic. Very friendly, always a full drink at the right temperature and she asks for my number to add my drink to their rewards program. The other worker ( worked this morning 8/12) is lacking. I consistently am handed a drink that has more foam than actually drink and today was charged more for a medium than the large I normally order, and the actual drink could fit in a small! I can't roll the dice anymore and hope the Barista who actually knows how to make a drink will be there. I have been overcharged for a half full drink one too many times. read more

This place is fantastic. It is one of the best places to be in whitewater. Their staff is always quick and friendly. The delicious sweets are always fresh and mouthwatering. The coffee is made by some of the best baristas and with good quality beans and flavor. You can even go through the drive thru if you need a quick stop. My morning routine usually begins with a trip to the Bakehouse or the SweetSpot Cafe (same owners, other side of town). I love the multigrain bagels and the baked oatmeal. The cold brewed coffee is also a necessity on all but the coldest days. Owners Lacey and Karen are friendly as is their staff. Their small business has brought life to the community. It is a fun place to stop for lunch or dinner as well as breakfast. Any of the panninis or salads are a hit as is the soup. The specialty cakes and desserts are out of this world. There are some excellent cupcake flavors and cakes can be ordered for any special occasion. They will be one-of-a-kind and as delicious as they are beautiful. read more
