The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and the service was first class. Each and every guest enjoyed themselves all day and dozens of people told me this was the best wedding they've ever been to. We were impressed with every detail of this venue from the moment we stepped foot inside a year ago while we were still venue hunting. My conversations with Sabrina and Rachelle solidified our decision to have the biggest day of our lives here. They are the glue that hold everything together, they are consummate professionals, and just the most fun! Careful, you will want to be best friends with them before the planning process is over! We are not rich, but they maximized our budget and this venue made me feel like a wealthy queen on our big day. It has been about a month since we hosted our daughter's wedding at The Elks Tower in downtown Sacramento. It was absolutely spectacular! The ballroom is a stunning two-story space with an elegant balcony - ornate, full of character, and the perfect setting for such a special day. Truthfully, we are all still on cloud nine, and I want to tell you why. It starts with the real stars behind the venue. Sabrina and Rachelle, our banquet event manager and coordinator, delivered seamless execution and went above and beyond at every stage. With more than 20 years of experience, their expertise was evident from the moment we began planning. Unlike other venues/coordinators we encountered, Sabrina and Rachelle genuinely listened to our vision, offered thoughtful suggestions, and shared creative ideas that elevated our event beyond what we had even imagined. Their attention to detail was impeccable. From the food presentation - exquisitely elegant, with varied buffet heights and beautifully ruffled tablecloths to the flawless table settings that radiated sophistication - everything felt extraordinary. Guests enjoyed an hour of pre-dinner appetizers, including a central charcuterie board and pre-poured champagne glasses, which helped avoid the usual rush you often see at events like this. They also suggested two fully staffed bars with two bartenders each, open the entire time, ensuring easy access for everyone. They were spot on as there were no lines the entire night! The buffet for 185 guests - featuring salads, chicken marsala, teriyaki salmon, vegetables, and a show-stopping prime rib carving station with two carvers - was beautifully presented. Guests moved through the line amazingly fast, with everyone served in just 30 minutes. We were at a company holiday party at the Elks Tower. It is a gorgeous building, both outside and inside. Built in the 1920's it has a similar style to the Library and Courts Building a few blocks away (where I used to work at the California State Library.) The event was held in the ballroom on the second floor. From the second level (which is reachable by elevator though we took the stairs) the ballroom is about five steps down. If you attend an event at the Elks Tower, make sure to look up to see the ornate ceiling (as well as the walls) The bathrooms had plenty of stalls for the number of people and were very nice and more importantly clean and well stocked. I'm not sure if the food was catered by the Elks Tower but it was really good. It was a challenge getting there. We took the Tower Bridge from Davis and planned to go down 5th street to J but apparently there was an event at the Golden 1 Center so 5th street was closed as was a number of other streets downtown. We were detoured and delayed, but eventually got to our destination just as my husband's boss' boss arrived. Great timing. We parked at the City lot on 11th. We took the stairs down from where we had parked and ended up on 10th street by mistake so had to walk up J Street to 11th and over. There were a number of homeless tents lined up on 10th street but no one bothered anyone. read more

If I could give ten stars I would! My husband and I held our wedding reception here on 5/24/25 and it was the best day of our lives by far. We did our ceremony at a separate location, but every detail was perfect following our ceremony! We had about 110 guests, a tritip and chicken buffet, special cocktails, and the best bartenders ever. We had a dj and a florist, but kept all the vendors simple and nothing else was needed because the space was so beautiful to be in! We borrowed some of Sabrina's shelves to decorate with photos in the room. I did my bouquet toss over the balcony in the ballroom and it was EPIC. From the early planning stages, Sabrina and Rachelle eased my mind of every single worry. Their security guards ensured we could celebrate without having to manage anything. Sabrina understood the style vision and I totally trusted her to roll with it. She let us come in the day before and have free rein to set up some details. When I entered the room I was BLOWN AWAY! I truly could not imagine a better team and we were in the best of hands. They have so much experience and they're total pros! I actually enjoyed the party, had no clue what time it was, and just followed the expert guidance of Sabrina. She was by my side whenever I needed her and predicted what was needed all over the room. When we arrived at first, she greeted us each with a signature cocktail and a huge plate of apps. By far the best part of the day though, was when she shared a part of the building that is full of history and old feels - she let us and our photographer take some epic photos and sneak away from the party to enjoy Sacramento from above. If you are looking for a wedding venue this is the spot. Or for any large event/party! The catering and bar included was life changing. The day of coordination and the unexpected help leading up to the day. The included cost of chair, table, linens, napkins, all utensils and plates and glassware! The food was by the way, AMAZING, even though I was way too sidetracked to eat enough. I dream about it still! Kristine is pleasant, punctual, and professional; moreover, she pushed hard to make our various requests for the reception a reality at every turn, which was a huge relief and validated our choice of the Elks Tower for our reception. Kristine is wonderful, but so is the Elks Tower itself! We wanted a Gatsby-esque/art deco aesthetic for our reception, and the Elks Tower Ballroom was the perfect, elegant venue to make that possible. We had our wedding at the Elks Tower in September 2023 and we were extremely happy with our experience. First of all, the venue is absolutely gorgeous. Kristine, Sabrina, and the staff were very helpful and cooperative and Food was delicious! We were worried about few items but thank God it was all just perfect. We had about 240 guests and we were worried about the venue being too congested with not enough dancing space but that was no issue at all. We thought the lighting might be a bit too dim but it was also just right. On top of all that, Sabrina, our event coordinator who was there during the set up and the wedding day was out of this world. She went above and beyond to make everything we wished for possible. I attended the Peter Petty annual Christmas show at the Elks Tower 2nd Floor ballroom tonight. It was my first time in the venerable Elks Tower. Love the architecture! Renovated in the Italian Renaissance style, it provides an old-worldly ambience than adds atmosphere to an event hosted here. Located on the second floor, the main ballroom coats ample space for a a large bad/orchestra onstage as well as seating/table space. There are also two side balconies for getting a great view of the expansive space! There are side service areas for serving food or drink on both sides, too. I estimate close to 300 people in attendance, and the space still felt "roomy" and crossing the room was not congested, at all. read more

We hosted our annual Medical School Ball at Elks Tower and could not have been more happy with our experience. The venue is historic and breathtakingly gorgeous, and perfect for an event of our type and size. We had 240 guests, many of which commented specifically about the amazing ballroom decor and style. The success of our event was in no small part thanks to Sabrina, the venue event coordinator, who made our planning experience as pain-free as possible with her communication and receptivity. I can't say enough about her team at Elks Tower as well - amazing service throughout the evening from security, wait staff, and bartenders (another special shoutout to Lane and Anthony behind the bar)! We just hosted a company holiday party here. I cannot say enough good things about it. The space is gorgeous and is perfectly constructed to accommodate groups of all sizes. We had less than 150 people so we just used the lower level of the ballroom, but the upper level balconies could have made it easy to host a group much larger. Kristine and Sabrina were great. They arranged a tour of the facility ahead of time and answered all my questions. They gave me honest recommendations for what they thought would work for our type of event. They clearly have a lot of experience. Everything was coordinated ahead of time so I simply had to show up and enjoy the event. Everything was ready on time and there were no issues that needed me to intervene. The city hall parking garage is right across the street and made it very easy for all our guests to park there and walk right over to the venue. We will definitely be booking here again! read more

Whoa, theres so much for me to say here, but i'll try my best to keep it concise. Im working with a team of local film makers to shoot a series of short films. I originally contacted Elks tower staff in the winter of 2018 to shoot a couple scenes in their ballroom. Both the building manager & operations manager agreed to allow my team to use the space for free. (Something i should make clear: They insisted I film without paying them. They were excited about my idea, and just wanted to see it come to fruition). Long story short: We were originally planning to shoot in April of 2019. However, the operations manager that I'd previously spoke to no longer works with Elks Tower. So, I took it upon myself to contact the new operations manager: Kristine Ayers. I first spoke to Kristine in person (at her office) & she agreed to "honor" what the previous staff promised me. She told me to email her the time/dates I'd like to film, and she promised to get back to me quickly. Well, Kristine did not get back to me. She ignored my first email. After about a week, I went to her office again, and she told me to be "patient." So, I waited longer. After about another week I emailed her again (the date that I was requesting to film was approaching). She then finally responded. Kristine's words were: "We have given the space away at no cost and have gotten screwed a few times and we are taking a break from doing that. I hope you can understand. The staff that used to be here aren't here anymore and they were giving the venues away at no cost too often without permission. My paying clients are going to be 1st priority. If you are interested in booking the space I am more than happy to meet with you and draft up a contract." My response was: "Okay, I understand business. It was a misunderstanding, I thought we were already given the okay [to use the space for free]. Moreover, I can pay if thats what this is about. When can we meet to draft a contract?" That last email was sent on 4/26/19. To this day, she hasnt responded to me. Its clear to me that she had no intention on renting the space to me. I wish Kristine would've been honest upfront. I wasted so much time. Terrible business on Elks Tower's end. I was WILLING to pay. And made my intentions clear. Its disappointing that I'd be ignored in such a manner. read more

Awesome place. Went in for dinner on a Thursday night. Only a few people inside at the time. Victoria and Melanie the bartenders were very nice. Scott the chef came out and asked us how our meal was before we left. They had a DJ playing music. Much to my surprise it was actually karaoke. The host did a horrible job and seemed to only want to play music, sit with his friends, and not have people sing. It took him a while to find songs because he was searching YouTube. From my understanding that's illegal and could cost the establishment a lot in fines. All in all it was a great experience and we will be back. read more

I selected the Elk's Tower Penthouse for my mom's BIG surprise birthday party. I have never been so impressed with a team of professionals in my life. Mary and Scarlett should be renamed "The Dream Team." They were such a joy and a pleasure to work with. I was so nervous and had so many questions, but they held my hand through the whole thing. Had my wedding over the weekend here. The venue is beautiful. The food was delicious when we had our tasting but the food was not the same during our event. Also it seems that the venue wasted a lot of the food because they took it when much was left over and payed for. We are upset that the food expense was so high and we're not given the opportunity keep the remaining amount. Lastly, A gift of ours was accidentally left in a side room no one went in except the staff and two of my family members went into and the gift is now missing. Overall my wedding was lovely but there was details that seemed to be missed or glossed over by the venue and it's staff. read more

Note: This is a review specifically for the Elks Ballroom. The Elks Tower is one of those distinct Sacramento landmarks that doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself and is easily overshadowed by the Capitol nearby, so I was excited to check out it's main selling point, the Elks Ballroom, during the recent and wonderful Sacramento Fashion Week. After climbing some stairs, you enter into a grand, spacious old ballroom with high ceilings, nice restored old touches like the trim around the walls and a cool second level area that is great for viewing the room as a whole. I took one look and knew I was in event planning heaven. It's the perfect place for events big and small, formal or casual (but mostly formal). I wonder why I don't here about more big public gatherings here. I'll be sure to spread the word about this wonderful place whenever I have the chance! read more

I'm very sorry to offer this review of the Elks Tower Ballroom, despite the amazing layout and beauty of this space. It seems that in the last six months since the last review was posted there have been some staffing changes - - - and not for the better. If you plan to communicate with the venue staff at all, do not choose this venue. If your event is an 8th grade graduation where you're just arranging for a DJ and some food, by all means this is a great place to do it. Here's my experience in looking for a wedding venue... I first tried to contact the venue after I discovered the Grand Ballroom will be undergoing renovation throughout 2016 and will be unavailable. My first phone call was to request a walk-through of the space. Nobody answered the phone so I left a message, and then waited a week and a half with no return call. The second day I tried to contact them, my first call went unanswered and I did not leave a message given my previous experience. My second call that morning was answered by Amanda and I was able to schedule a tour for 11:00 the next day. My fiancé found out that afternoon that she would be pulled into a meeting that conflicted, so she tried to call to reschedule. Nobody answered the phone, and she left a message with her request. We never received a call back before the 11:00 tour so I went on my own . At the tour, Amanda apologized for not being responsive and said that even though she's not often near the phone during the day she can respond easily to emails and asked that I contact her by email. After the tour, she again apologized by email. After reviewing a few venues and their requirements and offerings, my fiancé and I decided the Elks Tower would be a great place for our wedding - the style matched what we wanted for our theme. About a week after the tour, I emailed Amanda asking for a very quick walk-through for my fiancé at which time we would give them the deposit for the space. It was clearly a guaranteed reservation at this time. But, I did not receive a response. The email offering to pay them a large sum of money was sent well before business hours, and by the next afternoon I had received no phone call and no email to acknowledge it had been received. I called the Alexis Ventures management (who manages the Elks Tower) and asked Michael for a secondary contact who could be responsive. I was pleased with his response at the time and still hoped to reserve the venue. A couple of hours later, I received an email from Amanda stating: "After chatting with the staff in the office we do not feel that we will be able to provide you and your fiancé with the level of service you desire. If you would like recommendations for other wedding venues, please let me know as I would be happy to pass them along. " Apparently, asking to pay them money isn't enough incentive to pick up the phone. Your wedding at this venue will not go well if you and your vendors can't contact them for reservations, questions and payment. read more

The Elks Tower Ballroom is a beautiful venue, a hidden gem in downtown Sacramento. I recently held my wedding here, and the room is large enough for a 250+ person event. We held our ceremony and reception in the ballroom and had about 125 very comfortable guest, and a large dance floor once the ceremony chairs were moved. Kathleen was great to work with and was able to accommodate all of our requests. A major upside is the ability to bring your own alcohol (you just have to hire their bartenders to serve it) and they have a decent list of preferred vendors to choose from. The rental charge is comparable to other ballrooms in the area, and the staff was all very friendly and helpful. read more

My organization had an awful experience holding our event at Elks Tower Ballroom. We held our annual dinner with silent and live auctions there and were appalled by the long list of things that went wrong. As a nonprofit it is very important that we keep our donors happy, and when they are paying $100 per ticket or $1,500 per table reservation, they are going to expect a well run and lovely event. 1) They presented us with a projector and screen, but not the correct cords to set it up or a table for the projector to sit on. They refused to fix it or provide us with a projector that had all of the parts. So we were unable to show our slideshow that was supposed to be able to run throughout the event OR our live auction information slideshow. 2) We were required to use a rental company from their list that they suggested to us, which gave us the dessert plates, coffee cup saucers, and bread plates (all different styles and sizes) intermixed so nothing matched up. 3) Set up was completely on us. I personally was there two days in a row for setup, which probably took us a total of 7 hours to complete JUST for the tables and settings. 4) We used their onsite caterer. The hors deurves served were cold. 5) The servers brought out the dishes very sporadically. One person would be served at a table 20 minutes before the rest of the table was served. There was also a ridiculous amount of time between the salad and the main course coming out. 6) Some people were never even served dessert, while others were. 7) A long time supporter of ours wrote the venue a letter expressing how upset he was that all of these problems occurred. The venue manager then proceeded to reply with a long, unprofessional letter that pretty much dismissed everything he said without the slightest apology. I would advise against this venue. The wedding that they had put on in the same ballroom the weekend before that we got to look at seemed very nice. They definitely care more about weddings than non-profits they agree to work with. read more

Great venue for special events, especially a wedding reception and etc. Elegant and spacious. I believe it has a lot of historic value as well. The pictures won't speak for themselves so don't bother. Contact someone and get a tour. You have to see it with your own eyes. read more

Came here for a silent auction/wine tasting event. The place is spacious, and quite pretty. The upper balconies are nice and make a great place to rest your feet after tracing around in high heels. Clean, well kept, and with helpful staff. I hope my school holds more events here! read more

I had my reception here following my wedding at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament just down the street on November 18th of this year and it was great! Not only did my husband and I think so, but our guests were blown away as well. My mother in law thought it was absolutely gorgeous and she's hard to impress. It didn't take much to make the place look great... you just add a few personal touches here and there that let your guests get a feel of you as a couple but the Ballroom does great on its own basically. And we were sure to not do any damages to the building and let our vendors know to be careful to the historic building and we got our deposit back after 3 weeks just as promised! Elks Tower is the most beautiful ballroom located in Downtown Sacramento near the Cathedral Church. The ballroom is spacious and perfect for pictures. It's perfectly laid out, there are beautiful chandeliers throughout the room and separate smaller rooms sectioned off by sliding glass doors, an indoor balony upstairs on both sides of the ballroom and a kitchen on the right side of the room. It was our top venue to book our wedding reception but we decided on another due to location and parking. Theres no parking lot, only street parking and a parking garage across the street. The rental price only includes the venue itself and the parking was a deal breaker for us since the other venues included tables and private parking lot which results in two items that were off my list to take care of. Katherine was very helpful answering our questions both times meeting with us, at the bridal fair and over the phone. read more

Old but elegant. That's the best way to describe the Elks Tower, located on the corner of 11th and J Street. They recently redid the entrance, which now features a new chandelier hanging from the lobby. The ballroom is really nice, and there is a nice event space for a conference as well. I work here so I keep waiting for them to upgrade the elevators, which are old, their appearance is run down, and they make really odd noises and move incredibly slow. I often joke with others that someday I expect the elevator to unexpectedly drop multiple floors with me in it, but luckily that day has not yet come. read more

Love this place always have great cocktails and specials. Love outdoor seating. Busy but always worth the wait.

Excellent venue for a classy and elegant event. I coordinated for a wedding in the ballroom and it was such a beautiful canvas to work with. The staff was great and the ballroom and lobby are breathtaking. read more
