I take discrimination very seriously as people advocate, I have reported this individual and business to the appropriate authorities. Please see their response for yourself. Unfortunately, it speaks volumes and helps explain why this property has received so many negative reviews. Look at the pictures First, no refreshments were offered, they were extremely rude as soon as I walked in , and they did not even correctly identify my dog's breed-- is a Terrier. But this is a perfect example that shows how this person ignorance immediately discriminates people who might have pit-bull service animals . If you have a pit-bull or if she confuses your dog for a pit-bull! don't come here ! cause she will ask you to leave your dog in the car in a 90 degree weather ! It doesn't matter if it is a service dog! She decides which breeds can go in and which have to stay in the car . Second, they claimed that my dog was "acting out," which is simply not accurate. The dog was not "out of control " or they did not have a legitimate reason to separate the service dog from the owner . The dog was lying on the floor ! I SHE MADE ME LOOKED FOR MY DOGS SERVICE DOG NUMBER IN MY EMAIL FOR 20min !!! AFTER I FOUND IT AND A COPY OF HERI ID SHE STILL asked me to put the dog in the car because she didn't want the dog to "bother people " cause said that some people might NOT like dogs or could be allergic to dogs. Now that she got a bad review cause I told her that was illegal and I was going to do it ! she is saying that the dog was acting out . Most importantly, their response appears to acknowledge exactly what I raised in my review: ‼‼I was asked to separate from my service dog and leave her inside my vehicle, with the vehicle running, while I toured an apartment for approximately one hour in 90-degree Florida weather.‼‼‼ Before responding, they also apparently failed to read the ADA information I had already posted regarding service animals and the requirement that a service animal generally be permitted to accompany its handler. And she also confirmed in writing that she asked me to showed paperwork and proof that the dog was a service dog when that is not a ADA requirement! Please read their response below and draw your own conclusions. Their own acknowledgment of what occurred is far more concerning than anything I could add. Would put ZERO of I could you have no rights even if you signed a lease. Very unsafe for you and your family!!! The one star is for the maintenance staff which is superb and responsive. The exterior is starting to show decline and the dumpster area is usually an enormous open trash heap every weekend. Non residents dump their garbage freely since it is easily accessible and the surrounding communities are loaded with golf cart driving residents. Speaking of the golf carts, since the gates are rarely working kids will cut through the parking lots racing each other. During our last month at The Elysian there was a full scale SWAT raid complete with not one but two (!) armored vehicles. There are dogs everywhere and more than a few that seem to violate the guidelines. There are also very, very few residents who actually pick up their dog's waste. In fact you can't walk on most of the green spaces because it is so filled with dog waste. Think I am exaggerating? Go for a visit and check it out. If you go when it is hot you can smell it too. The worst area is the grass behind the back units along the walkway that spans the "water feature". We had a small dog. Always cleaned up after her, followed all of the rules and guidelines and only kept her in the kitchen and family room which had hard wood floors. Upon move out The Elysian hit us with a charge of $600 because they had to remove the carpets. When we protested they sent us some random pictures of the back sides of random carpets. Can we prove the carpets were new? No, we can't. Neither could they, they sent us a random undated invoice from a carpet company. Honestly, find another place. They are all over and the one across the street looks way nicer. You have access to all the same features plus you can dump your trash over at The Elysian. Win win. Awful experience and awful place. This place is a dumpster fire. We really wanted to love this place. 30+ day active maintenance requests. Dog everywhere. Fleas in the grass. Kids whipping around on golf carts so be very mindful and try not to run them over. The facility itself changed hands in 2022 so it's now on a pathway to 0 at full speed. We're moving to the facility across the street. It's much less expensive, has much bigger units and it's ran by professionals. Oh, and it's nicer. Good luck American Landmark. I smell 30% occupancy and a multi million dollar rehab coming for the Elysian. What a circus. P.S. We lived here for a few years and moved between acouple apartments during our leases, during each one we had a unique problem that was seemingly never fixed despite them claiming to do inspections prior to move in day. Those problems included: black mold in the cabinet under the sink, a broken pipe which caused flooding in the master closet damaging one of our dressers, mildew & mold that would grow around the vent closest to the air units, and leaks from time to time. Overall, management was never really responsive & quite rude. I would strongly implore anyone looking to lease here look elsewhere. It was a pretty bad place to live for the amount they are asking for. read more

I was one of the first to move in here. In the 11 months I have lived here, there have been 3 different managers. The first 2 were very helpful and kind. The latest addition is terrible. The residents are really nice as well as the prior staff. Since the new owners, American Landmark, have purchased the property and turned the staff over it has gone down faster than a snowball melting in FL in July. They continued to charge us for amenities we couldn't use during COVID and then ripped out perfectly good landscaping and replaced it (The cost of which had to come from residents). Buyer beware here. You will not receive quality service once you move in. Google American Landmark and you will see that the company culture mistreats its residents everywhere! read more

Stay away or be aware! Everything was great until it was time to move out. I gave 4 months notice and confirmed multiple times that my apartment was rented out 2 months before move out date. On the date of the move out, I had a walk through with Francesca who told me everything was good. I asked if I had any liability left on my lease and was assured that I was fully paid up. I asked for a written statement but was told that there was nothing to give me in writing, that I was "all good". Now, 3 months later I have collection agencies calling me telling me I owe money. What money? I was told by the collection agent he hears daily that people are charged after the fact and since nobody wants to deal with it, people just pay. Be aware! Get everything in writing! The only good thing about this property is Becca and Justice and I can imagine they would be even stronger employees with quality management and a company with integrity. Unfortunately American Landmark does not care about the safety of its tenants. Major, dangerous electrical failures (verified by the St Johns County code inspector, the property has been put on notice that they are in violation and have been cited case #220941) that they are ignoring. They won't fix, and tell me to leave. Haven't had a refrigerator, micro, disposal or the ability to plug in a straightener or vacuum since late August. 12 families in an unsafe building, save yourself the headache of getting stuck here for 13 months. When I moved in the assistant manager lied about tenets being able to use the Beachwalk lagoon at any time without restriction. My AC unit caught fire and it took 2 days for it to be fixed and the burnt smell in my apartment lingered for days, even with the windows constantly opened. I had to pay out of pocket to clean my furniture, bedding, clothes, and carpet. read more

I wish I could leave a negative star rating. When I moved into this complex I had stars in my eyes, which unfortunately were lost quite quickly. In just under a year the amount of maintenance issues, construction issues (black mold), office customer service issues, amenity issues, and mail delivery issues are countless. I would not recommend this property to my worst enemy. The original property owner cut their losses and sold the property in just a year and that was the smartest move they could have made. I am so disappointed in the amount of money I have wasted in rent living here. I received my lease renewal letter and they want to increase rent by an obscene amount when this property isn't even close to full occupancy. I have even tried to contact Corporate with NO RESPONSE. Extra kudos to the responsive and professional maintenance person who quickly fixed a minor sink issue for us today. My wife and I moved into this apartment community in the beginning of April. Approximately 3 days later, American Landmark purchased the property and it became The Elysian. Since then the quality of the community has significantly declined. There is no unlimited access to the Beachwalk Lagoon as we were advised by our Leasing Consultant. There are only 25 passes per day for the entire community. One person equals one pass in a community of more than 300 apartments. We are not allowed to utilize the tennis courts or putting green near the lagoon despite being told we could by our Leasing Consultant.The cleanliness of our amenities center and pool area is not maintained as it was when we moved in. The grills and hibachi table are frequently dirty and have been out of gas on numerous occasions. There are ants all around the pool patio area including near the outdoor kitchen, the tv, and fire pit. I have observed ants on the gym floor. It appears the gym equipment has not been cleaned by staff. The wipe dispensers in the gym are frequently empty. One of the three Peloton Bikes has not worked for months. There is a lot of dog poop in the grass around the community. There are poop bags and deposit stations around the community, but some tenants don't pick up their dogs feces'. Many tenants post on the Active Building App and the Facebook Forum about incoming/outgoing mail not being delivered from the Mail Center and packages missing from the Luxor Room. I received a letter from the Office stating starting December 1, 2020, we will be charged a fee of 5 dollars per month for the Luxor Room due to the trial period ending. This trial period was not stated in our lease. It does not appear that the breezeways are being cleaned any longer. The back gate to the community was broken for a couple of months before being fixed. It still does not function properly at times. These are just some of the issues I/we have experienced in our 7 months as tenants. I encourage anyone thinking about leasing here to think again. If you do decide to take a tour, talk to some of the residents outside of the company of a staff member. Really take a thorough look around and make sure everything you are told is included in your lease is in writing. read more

RUN AWAY. I can't even begin to say how terrible and cheaply built this place is. I've been fighting the complex to repair AC issues since March, and scraping paint and glue off the floors and windows. Cabinets were dragged along the concrete then installed. As if anything else could go wrong, my cat found a hole under the corner of my kitchen cabinets and got stuck inside. This place is NOT pet safe. The trim under my counters is made of CARDBOARD and was not sealed off. Less than six months in, there is a roach problem and drains in the bathroom are backing up. I'm so sick of having maintenance in my apartment. I have not had a four week period here, where I havent had a staff member in my apartment. The manner in which these apartments are built and maintained poses a hazard to property, health, and safety. Building construction issues are rampant, and the staff do not even try to hide the fact that they are drowning in work. My first maintenance request in April was #17. My last request in June was #453. I just entered requests numbered 712,713,and 714. Maintenance has been in and out of my unit, numerous times a month since February, doing inspections, installing an unrequested smart plug, and responding to maintenance issues which are never properly resolved. I have had ongoing AC issues since March 2020, and have had maintenance or a contractor here seven times to "fix" the issue. The AC recently failed on a 99 degree day, and I entered a maintenence request for this issue that night. At 1PM the next day, another 99 degree day, I had not heard from anyone. Calling the leasing office, twice, no one answered the main phone line, nor the emergency maintenance line. After more than 30 additional days, with maintenence making excuses and giving me the run around, my electric bill has doubled from $50 last month, to $100, with my AC set at only 75 degrees. No one has followed up to let me know the status of this issue. It is evident that The Elysian could not care any less about resident safety and well-being. Long story short, there is no customer service here. There was complete turnover of the management staff - with no communication of this to residents. To date, I have made numerous attempts to contact a manager, as well as have sent notifications that my AC issues pose a threat to health and property, a violation of The Elysian's own lease agreement. The manager recently sent an email informing us that the office is closed, indefinitely, to protect staff from COVID. For the second time in so many months, we have been asked to communicate electronically, but no one answers emails or messages in the resident portal and the office phone line rings to voicemail. I left a comment on Instagram, got a response, asked for a call back, and the company blocked me! read more

I hate living here. Nice apartment, but staff has done nothing about the excessive noise above me. It is EXCESSIVE. I know it's an apartment complex and other people live here, but this is ridiculous. I have videos and I've invited them to come and listen for themselves. It's been 4 months. Maybe the staff is just scared of saying something, but it's ironic that there's an item in the lease agreement that residents will not do anything to disrupt other residents and staff members. The untrained family above me is incessantly stomping. It's embarrassing too. I can say something. It won't be nice... but why should I have to do their job for them? If you are set on living here, I'd recommend looking closely at who will be living around you since they can't tell you that. Otherwise, it's you on your own and you will get no assistance. The dumpster/recycling area always has nasty trash piled up. Increased waste pick up is desperately needed or a call to the health dept. The package room smells like something died in there and the office is so concerned about "keeping it organized", but do NOTHING about valid noise complaints, trash piled up, and dog crap not being picked up. They are super diligent at sending you texts about food trucks. If they can just do other tasks with that same tenacity, it would be a better place to live. I can't wait until my lease is up. Horrible. Go somewhere else... for the price, it isn't worth it. There is not one amenity here that is worth it. Like I said, I have videos, pictures, etc. this is not just MY perspective. Been a resident for about two months and I should have listened to any negative reviews. The office staff is absolutely terrible especially the manager her name is Lisa. She is very rude and I'm very displeased with her attitude. Access to the lagoon was a selling point whenever we were looking at this apartment per the staff but now it will be $25 per person per day. Our mail room lockers, we we're told that they were a part of our utilities but today I got a notice saying that my rent will increase another five dollars because it was a trial period which was something that nobody told us. I have been living with carpenter ants since the day we moved in, and I live on the third floor so there should be no reason why there are carpenter ants other than the simple fact that the foundation has an issue. Overall I've only been here for two months like I said and I am already regretting this decision on top of the fact that it's very expensive. The office is extremely unprofessional, I've had people walk away from me when I was simply trying to ask for a package and Lisa herself would not even come out of her office to acknowledge my boyfriend who is a minority who was also looking for a misplaced package. Please, if you are reading this and you are in search of an apartment look elsewhere. It is extremely expensive and what you get doesn't even come close to how much you spend on it. read more
