My husband discovered this place during a disc golf tournament nearby and we have been several times since. We loved it so much we got it catered for our baby shower! We thought we ordered more than enough for the party, but everyone loved them so much they went quickly. If you are craving empanadas, this is the place to go! Food: 5/5. We have tried pretty much every empanada at this point and each and every one of them is just exquisite. Absolutely delicious! They also gave my brother-in-law a free dessert for his birthday that was also fantastic! Service: 5/5. The main couple is a delight to interact with. My GF and I have been wanting to come check out the empanada club for a bit, today We had the traditional #1and the chimichurri and chicken chimichurri #5 ... they were both outstanding, although I'm a little biased towards the traditional one. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and welcoming, so the service was great ambience. It's just normal for an empanada place. Very odd, standing inside of the store, I needed to open their website to see the prices and hope they were still current. Owner stated to me that a lot of places don't list prices. What‽ However, they do have prices on their beer & wine. After that conversation, I enquired if the sauces on display are included with an order. I was told they were an extra charge. Then dead silence as I looked at them and said, "Do I need to ask the price on those too"? Sign out front says, "No Public Restrooms". I'm the Public. I'm a paying customer, but you don't have a restroom for me? But I did noticed a restroom. Maybe for customers only, but then the sign should say that, not none available. Verdict- Would I return? I'm always on the hunt for something different in the sea of sameness and driving through Meridian after visiting the Post Office, the The Empanada Club logo caught my right eye. I wasn't even sure if it was what I thought it was. When I arrived home, I quickly accessed my Yelp app to look it. Sure enough, The Empanada Club was listed and I was able to look at the pictures and check out the menu. The Empanada Club offers a variety of tasty empanadas. If you're not familiar with Empanadas, they are baked turnover stuffed with deliciousness. The Spanish verb, empanar loosely translates as ' embedded' They got that right. There's a lot of tastiness embedded in these empanadas. There are 10 different empanadas to choose from. There are the traditional meat choices ranging from Carne Picante - Spicy Braised Beef to Chimichurri Chicken. They also offer a vegetarian and vegan options Woohoo! The vegetarian option is the Portobello Mushroom with onions and cheese delightful stuffed inside the empanada. The vegan option is the Vegan curry. Fresh roasted vegetables in a coconut curry sauce. I reached out to the owners via Yelp Messaging to ask if the pasty / dough was vegan and if it stayed vegan during the baking process. Sometimes with baked breads, eggs and milk can be used. The owners quickly replied and reassured me that the dough was vegan and remained vegan throughout the process. I made my plans to stopped by at the beginning of the week and get a variety of empanadas. I entered TEC and its is bright, welcoming, and the empanadas are separated out by types and clearly labeled. Behind the counter is some amazing tile work and wine bar. There's also a nifty Empanada toaster machine. Check it out! One can order the empanadas as they are or warmed up. It doesn't take but a couple of minutes to warm them up as they travel through the toaster machine. The empanadas are a good size and reasonably priced at $3.50 each. It is possible to order dozen. Doing so saves you some ' DOUGH ' ! If you order a dozen, which is highly recommended, you may wonder how to tell which ones are which. TEC has it figured out. Each empanada flavor has its own number baked into the corner. There's no mix up a Carne Picante and a Vegan Curry. When you want to eat one at home, toaster ovens are recommended. 375 for about 7-8 minutes. My daughter used the microwave, kids these days. Arrgh! and while it was hot and tasty, the empanadas really love the heat from the oven. There are also Tartes and Mini Tartes. These are like pasty pies. They look fabulous. TEC also offers baked sweets and goodies plus dipping sauces. So make sure to check it all out. The owners are super sweet and very welcoming. Lastly. Nice Argentinian café and lovely ladies behind the counter. As the name of the place indicates, they specialize in one thing: empanadas, a variety of them. I tried three of them; the traditional (ground beef, hard boiled egg and olives), the Carne Picante (spicy beef) and the Chimichurri Chicken. The three were good, although the Carne Picante was too salty. Wow. Who would've thought that you would be able to find empanadas in Idaho that make you feel as if you're in Argentina. They were flavorful, crispy, not greasy, and all of them were stuffed full. My family is from Argentina and I would happily bring them here. The chocolate chip alfajor was an interesting twist on an alfajor and was very tasty. It also didn't seem to be too sweet. Yes please! I felt like I was cheating on Tango's but now I'm happy to say that I'm in a polyamorous relationship with both establishments. :) This place is so awesome. I loved the set up. Clean, open and modern. Lots of fun Argentinian touches. The star of the show is the empanadas. We had so much mixing and matching the flavors. We tried the beef, chicken, chimichurri chicken and ham and cheese. Everyone (even the picky 2 year old Hurricane) enjoyed all the flavors. Next time we are ordering double so we can all have our own. I love green olives so the traditional flavors were my fave. The little people enjoyed ham and cheese and my old man wanted more of everything! We really loved that these were baked. The grease was non existent and we think they traveled really well. The queen of Yelp Boise (she's a triple black - you know who she is) says that the uncooked pockets of goodness freeze and bake up at home super well. We went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch, and the gentleman behind the counter was very informative, helpful and courteous. He told me all about the different empanadas from Argentina, and then I decided which ones would be best for my sons and me. One is not so in adventurous with food, so I gave him the Italian sausage with marinara empanada. The other is, and he LOVED the Traditional empanada. I also ordered a Traditional, and then we ordered a dozen to go because they were that amazing, delicious & tasty. When you get take out & freeze a few for the week, be sure to thaw them out & then bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. In addition, they are numbered in the crust & you'll get a receipt, along with your take out order that acts as a legend to let you know what type if empanada you're reaching for. This is helpful, if you get an assortment, even tho I was very tempted to get a dozen cherry cream cheese empanadas. Full disclosure: I attended The Empanada Club as part of a Yelp Elite event in which I was given two free empanadas. This review is not in any way influenced by free products, however. Additionally my friends and I purchased a dessert and their meals while we were there so we also financially did support the business. Our experience of the food is true to any visit of the restaurant. The service here is beyond kind. I hadn't ever been to this restaurant so I had questions about the empanadas and the employees were patient and so friendly as they chatted with me. As for the empanadas themselves, I got the vegan one, which is vegetables in a coconut curry sauce. I don't love coconut so I wasn't predisposed to like it, which was unfortunate. That's one minor problem with this restaurant: the menu is incredibly limited, especially for vegetarians, so if you have any taste preferences or dietary restrictions you might not find anything you like on the menu. I didn't like the vegan empanada, but that was due to not liking the filling. My friend got the chicken, which had a nice, moist filling, but she thought the addition of the boiled eggs inside was strange. None of the other empanadas ad appealed to her, though, so she chose that one. My other friend got the original, with ground beef, onions, and the same boiled eggs. She said it had lots of flavor but again, thought the eggs were weird. However, they are obviously a traditional part of the filling so we accept that as part of the meal. We just wish they had more options available for people to try. Instead of being fried like traditional empanadas, the versions here are baked. That makes them much healthier but not as crispy and flaky as the deep fried kind. I have to say, I wished they were fried. If I'm going to eat something in a butter crust with a rich filling, I'd rather go all the way and have it fried. I think these would be outstanding that way. However, they do make them nice and as crispy as I think they can be in the way they bake them. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and open. There's plenty of parking and it's easy to find. I will come back and hope that maybe I can find a great treat here. I can say that the prices are fairly reasonable. You will pay about the same as a meal at Subway plus you're supporting an awesome local business. I felt like all the ingredients used were high quality and they were making everything fresh. They also did an excellent job in keeping the atmosphere in the restaurant feeling welcoming, so it's a great place to try. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since I first saw it and am so glad I did! The owner is super friendly and attentive. The empanadas are little pillows of heaven! I tried the chicken bbq, traditional, chimichurri chicken and the blueberry cream cheese. I got it to go and they were all individually wrapped so it didn't get messy in my bag. Al of them were so delicious but my favorite was definitely the chicken bbq. The sauce was thick and not too sweet or salty. It was simply perfect! And of course, what is a meal without dessert??? The blueberry cream cheese empanada was wonderful! None of them were oozing with grease the way others I have had before do. This is definitely my new go to for empanadas. They charge for everything, the sauce should be free, that's part of the empanada experience, them charging you is like going to get pupusas (Salvadorian) and the restaurant charging you for the curtido. Anyway, sauce should come with your expensive empanada! I know is a business but not to have free water, come on!! Like I said they nickel/dime for everything. If you ask for a fork or any utensil they don't provide it. They tell you they have certain items on the menu, you order it, after waiting for 5 minutes they say "sorry we don't have that one" they don't even compensate you for their error or your time, just "sorry" , they need to work on their customer service a bit! I'm not sure how my husband first discovered this place, but I'm glad that he did. I understand that they have food trucks that go around to various events, but my family has only ordered from the Cherry Lane location. I love that they are cooked to order and the variety of options. My young niece is particular about what she eats, but even she was able to find an empanada that she liked.
