Both tango's locations are fantastic! Always delicious food and great service. You can't go wrong with any of the empanadas but my favorite are BBQ, Rancho, and Cafemello. The fries are a must as well!

Stopped by here for lunch with my husband, who's from South America, and we enjoyed our experience! We ordered the Gaucho, Saltena, Tinga, La Boca, Cheese, and Arroz Con Leche. The service is quick and friendly. There's plenty of indoor seating and lots of parking as well. The empanadas were nice and hot! My personal favorite was the Saltena - it was juicy, savory, and delicious! Definitely want to come back here to try the other flavors.

Wow wow WOW these empanadas are HUGE!! The pictures don't really demonstrate just how much bigger these empanadas are than I expected. As an added bonus, they are also delicious! I gotta hand it to my guy, Guy Fieri, for showcasing this specific empanada restaurant on his DDD show. The producers really did their research here. I also did my research on what to order beforehand as their menu is huge and can cater to most tastes out there. I ordered the same as Guy did, the pork-based "El Puerco," as well as a beef option that is considered a traditional Argentinian empanada, the "Gaucho." For dessert, I enjoyed a warm "La Nona," as dulce de leche and bananas is such a winning combination. The empanadas exterior were crunchy and airy, and surprisingly not greasy at all for a fried food. All 3 of my choices were filled to the brim with their respective fillings. The meat was fully cooked and seemed to be of decent quality. As for the restaurant itself, the staff weren't too helpful in helping my friends narrow down what they wanted to eat, but the interior was clean and had a lot of tables and chairs, perfect for large groups. The best part of my whole experience was the PRICE! I know, I'm surprised as well that a restaurant in 2023 had reasonable/cheap prices! We all ate very well at around $8-12 a person.

I love empanadas and am often disappointed by limited options, the dough or the overall price. Then, luckily, I found Tango's! What a welcome surprise. Friendly and helpful service. Empanadas take a wee bit longer than usual to come out...but they are hot, fresh and most definitely worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the "El Puerco" the best. Chimicarne was very good. The dough was soft enough to eat yet firm enough to hold on the fillings. Dough was very savory without being a competitor to the superior fillings inside! All the meat was perfectly seasoned without being overpowering. The dough to filling ratio was on point. My daughter and husband enjoyed the Gardel empanada and upgraded to the combo (which is an amazing price!). They both gobbled down everything, including the crispy golden fries. We cannot wait to go back and enjoy more options this amazing menu has to offer. Excellent job!

I've heard such good things about this place so we drove 30 minutes to try it out... workers were nice. we got our food to go and when we got home I cut them in half to split with my son and they were pretty much empty. mine and I got him the kids meal ones and his were empty as well??? pretty disappointed

Tango's new location at this Meridian is in "pre-opening" mode as of January 17, 2022 doing take out only on Mon - Fri and hours are limited to 3p - 7p. Details follow. Reviews posted here with dates prior to 1/17/22 appear to be for Tango's old Nampa location which closed a couple of years ago. Looks as if Nampa reviews were carried over to this new Meridian. Regardless, the bricks and mortar store in Meridian just opened as of 1/17/22 (owners originally hoped for opening in early 2021). Here is what you might find useful to know before you go to enjoy empanadas made by these lovely owners who are originally from Buenos Aires so they know Argentinian food and started introducing Boise to it in about 2006 when they opened the original Tango's in Boise. For the Meridian shop: *Hours are M-F 3:00 - 7:00 *No dine in options now, carry out only. Orders need to be phoned in or texted in advance and no later than 2:00. 208-447-0701 *Credit card payment only for now *All 50 empanada options are available, but only empanadas at this location and for now no gluten free empanadas can be ordered for here. Empanada menu is at the top of Yelp page. *When this Meridian location is fully open it will include an Argentinian grill menu too. NOTES: *This location - Near Big Lots and Albertson's, same complex, on E. Fairview. is easier to access than the Boise location and they have a parking lot. *The parking lot has ADA / accessible parking. The building is level in for people with mobility disabilities. *These are fried empanadas. If you're looking for baked empanadas you can find those in Meridian too, owners are also from Argentina and are in the kitchen making their delicious food, down Fairview a mile so so at The Empanada Club which has been open for maybe four years.

Great empanadas! Service was good and the dining area was clean and nice. I feel like they should have a few more side options.

Like most empanada joints I've eaten at, the crust was disappointing. It should be like a pie crust, crisp, buttery, etc.

I ordered Bandeja Paisa, which comes with carne asada, red beans, chorizo, pork belly, egg, sweet plantains, and a small corn cake. It was a flavor ride in each bite. My wife ordered the carne asada, which was flavorful and well-seasoned. It came with a chimichurri sauce that made the dish come alive. Everybody raves about the authenticity and flavor of the food. Empanadas, tamales, and fried plantains stand out in particular. People also favored guava juice and unique drinks such as tamarillo and maracuya juices. Portions are large; platters can be shared. The place is warm, well-organized, and inviting, which makes me feel at home. The ambiance is relaxed and inviting, providing a great dining experience. It is an unpretentious place, but the food and service at El Cafetal are great. If you are craving some authentic Colombian flavors, look no further. Definitely back soon!

We were enjoying our food and drinks so much I forgot to take photos of our entrees until about halfway through. Food: 4/5 Everything was pretty good, but only a few things were really great. My first sangria was just ok, but the second one was delicious (maybe my taste buds just needed to warm up to it?). The Bacalaitos in the appetizer sampler was my favorite part of the appetizer. The sauces that came with the sampler were also pretty good. The guava and cream cheese Pasetillos were also a favorite that just melted in my mouth. The entrees were both good, but nothing that I can't wait to try again. The pina colada cheesecake is another story... I have been craving that ever since we ate it. I think in the future I would get a variety of pastelillos for a meal. Service: 5/5 The service here was outstanding and very impressive! We arrived a little after 5pm on a Thursday to a nice gentleman that greeted us. Our waitress was extremely helpful with recommendations and our drinks and food came out promptly. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 Great, welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to go back when it gets warmer and either sit on the patio or the rooftop. I will say the location is interesting and kind of off the beaten path, which isn't a bad thing. Kid friendly: 3/5 We didn't take our little one this time, but there were some kids there. I didn't notice a kids menu and don't know that I would recommend taking kids here.

Since the owner died along with the ownership opening up numerous other restaurant concepts, I feel the ball has been dropped on what was once my favorite Boise restaurant. I don't mind paying a little more, but I do expect consistently good service and food quality, and I feel both have lacked that lately. I still go occasionally but not nearly as much.

Barbacoa is your place to go for a half entertainment and half great food overlooking the (Parkcenter) Pond for a great time and a great meal - (or not, there is a rooftop bar called Luna where one can imbibe if food is not your jam). This is a second trip to Barbacoa. This trip was perfect as hunger was involved AND a late reservation was needed. Barbacoa really books up, but we were in luck, snagging one of the last reservations on a Friday night! We had a lovely waitress and clean-up guy . Lighter appetites can get by on an appetizer (such as Stuffed Poblano Chile with its namesake Barbacoa Beef). We shared the Calamari Fritti with four different sauces which was lovely in presentation and delish! Saved for next time - they make guacomole table-side! Looks so entertaining and yummy! This review reports that surf and turf were enjoyed! One diner had the Baked Salmon, which was promptly eaten (so it must have been good) and yours truly had the special *American Waygu Ribeye Steak*. Not a staple on the menu, but a GREAT meal, especially if ribeye is a favorite cut! Pro Tip: If there is enough room for dessert, tell them you are here for a special occassion and they produce a cotton candy concoction that is sure to please! They were flying out of the kitchen on this late June Friday night visit. Hang on to your wallet! Not gonna lie, this is a pretty pricey meal, but if in the Boise area, this is a must! There is something for everyone and combined with the entertainment and low state tax ;), worth the trip! We all left happy and full and forgot all about the delayed flight! Another Pro-Tip: Oh and for those with a sense of humor, (or not), there is a small keyhole in the men's bathroom that appears to look directly into the women's room. I don't think they see anything serious, but it is cheeky for sure - ladies, make sure you are fully clothed before walking out! This will be on our regular rotation on future trips to Idaho!
