This was a 10 out of 10 experience for my daughter. That is a huge deal since she is really particular about her food. She got the mac and cheese empanada and it was perfectly cooked on the outside, delicious mac and cheese filling, and crunchy fries. I got gaucho empanada combo with a guava Jarritos (my favorite). The filling in my empanada was perfectly seasoned, not oily or too moist. It was just enough so it wasn't dry, but didn't make the shell soggy. For dessert ny daughter got the churros with strawberry jam and I got a guava empanada (sub cream cheese for mozzarella). Next time I'll try it with mozzarella, but I really wanted to try cream cheese/guava combo. It was so hard to decide what to get because everything looked good. Now that everything tasted so good, I need to go back. So sad that I'm only in Boise for a few days. Service was excellent - they give you a number and bring it to the table hot and fresh. Stopped by here for lunch with my husband, who's from South America, and we enjoyed our experience! We ordered the Gaucho, Saltena, Tinga, La Boca, Cheese, and Arroz Con Leche. The service is quick and friendly. There's plenty of indoor seating and lots of parking as well. The empanadas were nice and hot! Wow wow WOW these empanadas are HUGE!! The pictures don't really demonstrate just how much bigger these empanadas are than I expected. As an added bonus, they are also delicious! I gotta hand it to my guy, Guy Fieri, for showcasing this specific empanada restaurant on his DDD show. The producers really did their research here. I also did my research on what to order beforehand as their menu is huge and can cater to most tastes out there. I ordered the same as Guy did, the pork-based "El Puerco," as well as a beef option that is considered a traditional Argentinian empanada, the "Gaucho." For dessert, I enjoyed a warm "La Nona," as dulce de leche and bananas is such a winning combination. The empanadas exterior were crunchy and airy, and surprisingly not greasy at all for a fried food. All 3 of my choices were filled to the brim with their respective fillings. The meat was fully cooked and seemed to be of decent quality. As for the restaurant itself, the staff weren't too helpful in helping my friends narrow down what they wanted to eat, but the interior was clean and had a lot of tables and chairs, perfect for large groups. The best part of my whole experience was the PRICE! I know, I'm surprised as well that a restaurant in 2023 had reasonable/cheap prices! We all ate very well at around $8-12 a person. read more

My first time to try fried empanadas so I came to the newer Tango's. I read the review about the big empanadas but not much ingredients inside the empanadas and it's true! Not much inside at all. The flavor is, great but the inside stuffing was disappointing. I went to the original location and it blows the doors off the new location. It was packed inside the tiny restaurant for a great reason. Their empanadas were packed full of deliciousness. Needless to say, go to the original location and you will not leave hungry or disappointed. read more

I love empanadas and am often disappointed by limited options, the dough or the overall price. Then, luckily, I found Tango's! What a welcome surprise. Friendly and helpful service. Empanadas take a wee bit longer than usual to come out...but they are hot, fresh and most definitely worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the "El Puerco" the best. Chimicarne was very good. The dough was soft enough to eat yet firm enough to hold on the fillings. Dough was very savory without being a competitor to the superior fillings inside! All the meat was perfectly seasoned without being overpowering. The dough to filling ratio was on point. My daughter and husband enjoyed the Gardel empanada and upgraded to the combo (which is an amazing price!). They both gobbled down everything, including the crispy golden fries. Reviews posted here with dates prior to 1/17/22 appear to be for Tango's old Nampa location which closed a couple of years ago. Looks as if Nampa reviews were carried over to this new Meridian. Regardless, the bricks and mortar store in Meridian just opened as of 1/17/22 (owners originally hoped for opening in early 2021). Here is what you might find useful to know before you go to enjoy empanadas made by these lovely owners who are originally from Buenos Aires so they know Argentinian food and started introducing Boise to it in about 2006 when they opened the original Tango's in Boise. For the Meridian shop: *Hours are M-F 3:00 - 7:00 *No dine in options now, carry out only. Our first time trying Tango's and we'll definitely be going back! We enjoyed the birria empanada and it the meat had so much flavor that you didn't even need the consommé. Their empanada dough is so flaky and flavorful. We also devoured 2 cheeseburger deluxe empanadas...the addition of mustard gives the right amount of tang and flavor to the whole thing. But, no tables to sit down at for indoor dining. Told their supplier is having difficulty with everything being back ordered. For a traveler this means taking the food back to the hotel or, worse, eating in the car. Meanwhile, they have this huge floor with no tables. Maybe they could hist some dance events! There are so many things to like about Tangos. The choices and flavors are delicious. The dough is light and airy. The owners and staff are down to earth. They are humble, welcoming, and just good people. I appreciate the cultural pieces the have embedded into the new restaurant beyond just the food, from the dancing playing on screens to the painted hallways and bathrooms (make sure to read the plaque). If you're already familiar with Tango's empanadas on the bench near BSU, then you already know how good these are. The good news now is that they are in Meridian with the same great empanadas and indoor seating for more than 50. We love the chicken moleh empanada and the chimicarne with beef, potatoes and onions. They also have other dishes like an Argentina style sub sandwich and cheese and dessert empanadas. You do need to try it out! The empanadas are made to order but they get them done quickly and they always come out hot! Between $3.5 and $4 each sounds expensive but they are surprisingly filling! I ordered 4 empanadas for delivery. Unfortunately only 2 empanadas were sufficiently full. The other 2 were only a quarter full, if that! The taste was decent (not a 5/5 as parts of were doughy) but where's the quality control?? As far as taste, I would only order one of my selections again. The other 3 were pretty meh. Gaucho was good. Full and cooked enough. Linguica was less than a quarter full, undercooked. Hawaiian was about a quarter full and def just ok. Lemon was also just ok but was not any better than the little warmed pies from McDonald's only the dough on this one isn't sweetened so it isn't very tasty especially when it's undercooked. Pretty disappointed. I'd be very unhappy if I had gotten only one for take out for lunch and went on my merry way to find only one bite of filling once I got back to the office! read more
