Our family ordered cubano sandwich and 6 pack empanadas. The sandwich came with a side and we upgraded to garlic parmesan. Cubano tasted a little off (I can't pinpoint but a weird aftertaste). My daughter liked her beef/cheese empanada and garlic parmesan fries. They have a wide variety but the size is much smaller than anticipated. 6 for $21 is not worth the money. These empanadas tasted okay. Nothing to shout about. The sauces are off, mango habanero is way too sweet, garlic mayo looked like oil with grated cheese inside (from a consistency standpoint). All considered, this is an okay place to eat (this is a 2.75 star) but taste does not make up for the portion size. read more

They have 7 vegetarian options and lots for meat eaters including chicken, pork, seafood, etc. so there's something for everyone. This place is tucked away in a nondescript shopping center in Wake Forest near Capital Blvd. so you would think it would not be very busy but it filled up fast at lunchtime on a Sunday afternoon! First visit and I ordered two empanadas - the Picken Chicken and one that had ground beef, onions, green olives and cilantro (can't recall the name). The ground beef empanada was a clear winner for me. It had so much flavor! I liked that it was different than anything I've tasted recently. The Picken Chicken with rice was good but not spectacular. Two empanada combo comes with one side so I got sweet potato fries. Here's where a star was lost. Not cooked all the way, not flavorful. My husband got black beans that were good and if the rice in the empanada is the same as the side of rice, also tasty. For the price, I'd certainly return for the ground beef empanada. The very nice man behind the counter said the menu will soon slim down - I hope it's to concentrate on a few really great empanadas and sides. I feel like this place could become really great! They have pretty well priced combos where you can get some empanadas to try plus a side and a drink. They have beer too (Modelo)! I tried several, and my favorite so far is the Cuban. The Dominican was my least favorite. It tasted like hard cheese and ham, with no flavor. The regular empanadas are $3, while the specialty ones are $4. Now, these are not huge ones, but just the average size. I think the price can come down a dollar, and then I would eat them more. I am always craving savory pastries of any kind, so I was excited to see that this gem existed in Wake Forest (I also love that it's called a factory). We stopped by for a post hike snack and got the lunch special, where you can pick 3 empanadas, a side and a sauce for $10-11. We got the picken chicken, brasileiro, chicken and cheese with a side of yuca fries + chipotle sauce and a meat paella empanada. I love how big and crispy the empanadas are, it is cheaper than many other places in the Triangle. My faves were the picken chicken as it is packed with veggies and reminds me of a chicken pot pie pocket as well as the brasileiro where the ground beef was minced well with potatoes. The chicken and cheese was okay but I prefer sweeter cheeses! I was not expecting so much rice in the meat paella; it came off a bit dry. Lastly the yuca fries are delicious- thinner and crispier than other places. We got this as takeout and the order was ready in 10 minutes. The crispiness of the food is well retained even after an hour, which is a major win. Update: After falling in love with this place my husband and I decided to pick up some empanadas on our way into town. Some... ok ALL! I called in the afternoon and said I had a very large order to place. The woman I spoke to requested that it be placed with the owner Brittany. 20 min later Brittany called me back, she had worked out all the math for the order and said it would be ready by 6pm (I gave 3 hours notice)! I requested that the boxes be split up by protein (& one mixed meat box) and not only did they do that (and split the vegan from the vegetarian!) but they were all labeled as well! If you have a large event, or if you're just showing up from out of town to visit friends, words cannot express how delicious these empanadas (and sides and sauces!) are, so I added some pictures! We ventured here in search of a good empanada... what we found was a humble little spot with a very customer friendly an d helpful staff. They were very willing to explain the menu and clean a table if asked. As far as the food was concerned, they make good sweet potato fries, but the empanadas were disappointing. After breaking through the crusty shell, the meat filling was bland, super dry and encased in heavy cheese. Even the spinach empanadas were packed with more cheese than spinach. I have had empanadas at other places including a trip to Puerto Rico this summer, and these don't stand up to the flavor, taste or texture that you expect from a kitchen or restaurant. My advise, if you're looking for authenticity, don't go to a factory. read more

This was my first time eating here. I love empanadas and can not get them in Goldsboro. My brother told me to try them out. I and my boys were on a father-son weekend and we went for it. Went back in to get a full refund as I couldn't accept the food...told them that the women had no mask nor gloves on handling the food...she went my bad. I love this place. It's a pretty much my wife and I's fallback takeout spot, if we can't decide on dinner we can ALWAYS agree on the empanada factory! Some recommendations: the sweet pork bbq empanada, the one filled with mozzarella and pepperoni and peppers and the spicy chicken and jalapeño are my favorites! this is a hidden gem. Hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. I got garlic cheese fries, and two empanadas. I got the queso and the spicy chicken. I love their ketchup mayo sauce (it has a fancier name but I'm not sure of it) and it's free! Make sure to ask for some! The fries were no good. I would not order them again. Next time I'll be getting three empanadas instead. The queso empanada was good but a bit bland in my opinion. It was not nearly what I anticipated. I'd probably try a different flavor next time. The spicy chicken is HOT! It's good, but be prepared. I wasn't expecting that much heat! If you like spicy, you'd love it! Overall, the dough was good and they were cooked perfectly.
