This is the 2nd time my car window has been shattered on their property. I pay to park there and on my last visit, I saw my rear window had been shattered. I went into the office and spoke to the office manager. She said she didn't see anything. I pointed to the surveillance cameras and they were pointed where my car is parked. She wouldn't let me review the footage, or contact anyone who could give me permission to see them. She was stonewalling and didn't seem to care that my property had been vandalized. I called the Sheriff department and they came and took a police report. I know for a fact that they are responsible for this but they don't care. Your property is not safe here. Our unit is broken into. I had to wait for the police report on Carson station finally got it. I was given an incident report to fill out so they could give this to the owner. I am hoping once the owner gets this. He will reimburse us for the items that were stolen because this was an inside job. This was not the first time that a unit has been broken into or a vehicle or an RV. There has been other incidents spoke to.Shilita in the offers, gave us the incident report to fill out. There's much that she could do. It's out of her hands. Now it's for the owner of the empty attic two make his decision. There's a lot of proof that it was an insight job. They forgot their tool their gloves, cigarette butts and other stuff. Everyone knows it's a inside job. They only have cameras just to protect their office. They should put more cameras for their employees. Don't have access to any other units and are able to break in because there's no cameras. These guys need to be stopped with a set. I hope the owner from the empty attic reimburses us some money or all of these came on the property saw even they said it was a inside job so the owner of the attic please make this right for your paying clients who choose to get units and think their items are safe read more

I have to update my review bc in the last review I was not nice. What I would like to say is "Cindy take a deep breath step back relax and be patient... The empty attic is really a nice place to store your things. The ladies in the front office are very nice, courteous and professional. Think about this I did : I didn't think a storage facility would be so busy but they are!!! really and they get a lot of nasty crude mean customers who are mean to them , take a lot of anger out on the ladies . And then there is the nice people who don't . But I'm trying to say is be nice to them and everyone and shilita is so very sweet and understanding and patient . She has such a soft spoken voice and she can calm ya down in a minute if your stressed or mad I know cuz she did it for me and I need to say it publicly and apologize cuz I was mad thinking I wasn't getting a pro rate, oh poor me.... ... And the tongue is a very dangerous thing, so think before you act out on a person as I did shilita again I apologize to you and thank you for everything. I am being charged for 2 units. Percilla refused to pull up my files. She doesn't have any answers. I just keep getting "I don't know" , "I don't know" but you gotta pay for 2 units in order to get access. Percilla is super rude. Horrible customer service. I feel like I am in the hood talking to a teenage girl. I asked to speak to the supervisor and she refused. I asked when the supervisor would return she wiggled her head at me like a teenager and told me "I don't know". Never rent from here unless you want to be price gouged. Their monthly rent may seem lose but they make it up in fees later one way or another. Percilla also has her two dogs in the office and my allergies are going crazy. Planning my move I went over to visit the office late in the day and met Shilita. She could not have been nicer and said she was looking forward to my coming back the coming Thursday. I got there a little after 7am and she was there with a smile. She did everything she could to help with my rental. Most people would process you like you were at the DMV. The prices are fair and don't increase as much yearly as other places. Getting a unit was easy and paying for it, is flexible with advance payments as an option. The storage units at least were pretty secure near the front around the A blocks. It is in a somewhat industrial area so ymmv. Whenever I had a problem with billing, Priscilla at the front desk was helpful and got things settled efficiently. read more

The WORST company in the world..... I can't tell you how many times I have sent the payment on time and they told me I'm delinquent on my monthly rent. I call the a_______ that answer the phone say they will look into it and I never hear from them. When I do hear, it's a threatening letter from their bull management company. Ms Shilita was amazing. She was super friendly, great customer service, and helped me with all my needs. I even heard her give excellent service over the phone while I was waiting. The Uhaul service here was great and easy. I was able to get my fridge from the second floor because of their appliance dolly. I was able to pick up and drop off with ease. I highly recommend coming to this place if you need some help moving. Again, Ms King and her crew gave me A+ service. read more

I was in need of a hand truck late one evening to pick up a Craigslist purchase I made on-line. The Empty Attic was the perfect solution. This place is located right off the 110 in Torrance on the quiet side of Del Amo Blvd. While they are primarily a Self Storage company, they have many U-Haul Services there. This included: Trucks, Boxes, Dollys, Hand Trucks and other rentals. The staff was very courteous and friendly, and they took the time to explain all my options before I rented with them. While I chose to rent through the U-Haul system with a credit card, they will let you rent with cash (though a deposit and ID is required). The rates were the same as U-Haul, which was very reasonable. The best part, besides the convenient location, was off-street parking and no giant trucks to steer around! "Take that, average U-Haul Franchise!" It was super easy to pick up what I needed and hop right on the 110 freeway. If you've read my other reviews, you know I like anything that makes my life easy! I might not be able to speak about the storage side of their business, but if it's anything like their rental services, they are definitely worth considering! read more

Very poor security at this site. The fence area is unsecure and staff goes home each day leaving the rv storage area unsecure. There was one staff member that was so rude I had to hang up rather than talk to her. Others were much more accommodating but found myself only calling on the bad managers days off. Had our RV broken into several times before we finally left the facility. Contacted management via email asking for assistance and to report the rude employee, but no reply. Unprofessional. I noted transient folks walking freely in the rv storage area as well as someone conducting a business using two of the spaces. Again, unprofessional, won't go back there again! read more

My review is about the people who run the business. Whatever you do, DON'T pay ahead, you won't see your refund for two months, if at all. I moved out of my storage unit to move to another state. I had a credit of one month's rent, which the new people in the front office did not tell me about until I told them I was moving out. The day I cleaned it out, the girl in the office gave me a receipt printed from the computer. She said it would take 6-8 weeks for the refund to be sent. It has been 8 weeks, and I haven't received my check. I called the front office and they transferred me to a woman in the business office (a separate location), and she said she did not get the information. I think that is b*llsh*t! They have the same computer system! So, I ask for a phone number of someone higher than the woman in the business office, and the girl gives me a name/address of someone in Philadelphia. read more

Back in mid 90's to early 2k's, I kept a storage unit here (don't remember exactly how long but I know it was 5+ years). This was long before they added on site resident managers (I became really good friends with the first set they had as they were my age and we found we had a lot in common) and way before they incorporated the new 24 hr.access. Not once did I have a problem with anyone in the office, payments, the customer service or anything. In fact, there were plenty enough months that found me having to be a few days late which never took more than a phone call to let them know. There were even a few times that they waived the late fee for me, provided I had called them and let them know in advance. I never found water damage, nor did I have any issues with insects other than maybe the occasional spider having spun a web in one of the corners. Then again, they ARE outside access so that was to be expected, I think. The only issue I DID have was that they closed ON TIME which sometimes left me racing to get there, after work, in enough time to drop things off or pick things up. (and there WAS NO grace period. Lol) Last night I reserved 2 units, 1 for me and 1 for my brother, and am looking forward to receiving great service once again. I'm quite sure the new 24 hr.access has eliminated the timing issue and I will be a truly happy renter this time around. Thanks, everyone at the Attic, for providing such great service, yet all the while managing to keep the prices so incredibly reasonable. You guys are awesome!!! read more

Be aware of this place their online payment system fails and they blame on you I had to paid late fees after the payment was approved but their system couldn't process it. I was a long term customer but they didn't care so I'm moving out. read more

The people who run this business have no business training or knowledge. Staff also does not know how to differentiate between long time customer or a flake. We are renting space there and the mail caused a delay of our payment, the threatened us with a "lien" and selling or stored items. Interestingly enough our check arrived exactly one day after their threat. Now we double paid and they do not want to refund our funds which is the rent for a full year. These people need business training and I will report it to the chamber as well. This is bad business and unacceptable. read more

I don't rent space here. But i have helped two different friends move in to the Empty Attic, and I recently had a run-in with a woman in the front office when I went to pay a bill for my friend. Now, I'm sure this place has helped many people over the years by providing a cheap place to store things. At least I HOPE they're cheap because they certainly aren't convenient, well maintained, or nice. First, the space: The good news is that most if not all of the units are drive-ups. But there's considerable bad news. I have been to a lot of storage facilities in my day, but I've never seen one where virtually every unit has a series of small STEPS leading up the door. Rickety, wooden, uneven steps. Forget trying to wheel your hand truck into the unit: the strange step set-up makes it virtually impossible. If you're renting one of their smaller units, be prepared for the fact the the buildings are so close together you can spread out your arms and touch two of them, and that the narrow walkway in between has, yes, steps. Steps are the enemy of an easy storage unit move-in, and this place LOVES them. Next, the staff. I went to pay a bill for a friend and the worker there, whose name is Priscilla, made an error which cause me to be charged twice. She did credit one of the transactions, but when I pointed out to her that the funds were now tied up in two separate authorizations, and asked her why she didn't just apply the funds to the correct account instead of crediting it and recharging it, she rolled her eyes at me, made a "you're so stupid" face and blamed HER error on me, even though I had communicated properly and had done nothing wrong. She outright refused to admit she'd made an error - never mind that the error was a FACT and not a matter of opinion - and behaved as if I was just one giant pain in the ass. People make mistakes. A simple "I'm sorry" goes a long, long way with me, and with most people. But Priscilla wasn't having any of it. Apparently, all customers are idiots and she is never wrong. Her shining personality is another reason why I will never, ever rent from this place. I have 4 storage units at various facilities. You could tell me that The Empty Attic would give me the same amount of space for half the price, and I STILL wouldn't take it. I'm a cheap person, but not THAT cheap. read more

I'm still pending on a call from the manager, since 9/6/15. my experience was a mileage issue from the previous renter that end up costing me 20 mi x 1.09 versus my actual drive time. according to clerk, another clerk 3 days later, were incapable of providing customer service. except for forcing the system to charge me what they thought was right. I have found this place to be excellent, the lady at the front that i have had to pleasure of dealing with has been great. She is fun and engaging but NOT NOSY.. We needed to store a complete house , for a few months. We are moving out of state , she was completely understanding of our needs and very helpful. The process was very easy and simple. I have access to our unit and i feel like our belongings are safe and secure. I looked around for units and The Empty Attic was the most convenient for us and by far the best price.
