Worst experience I've ever had. We had reserved a uhaul truck and Golden State Storage was the pickup location. When we arrived we noticed a sign on the front office window saying the attendant would return by 2 pm. It was 1:55, so instead of waiting in the hot car we figured we could wait a few minutes. My wife decided to sit on a chair that was located right outside the front office while we waited for 2 pm to roll by. To our surprise (especially my wife's) the owner began yelling at her through the window accusing her that she should have know that he was on lunch and why couldn't she just wait. I could see and hear my wife from where I was standing. My wife was completely baffled as to why this man was yelling and obviously agitated with her. **This was our first encounter with this guy btw*** As the owner continued to yell, he walked out the front door. That was when he realized my wife was not alone. He must not have seen me through the window as I wasn't directly in front of it. Shortly after that he changed his tune. Yet he was still clearly upset and angry for no apparent reason. The unprovoked hostility was a complete surprise. Although we had a very busy day of moving to do, we decided to not rent the Uhaul through him. I would not want to sign a contract with someone who is not just unprofessional but seriously acutely agitated. No thank you. read more

I wish there was an option for 0 stars! I just experienced the worst customer service, alongside questionable choice of staff in regard to personal and professional physical representation of the company. Not only was I ignored for 10 minutes while waiting to be helped, but when I was finally spoken to I was greeted by, "Is that your car? Can you move it?" Okay....will do. The red headed woman with tattoos and a poorly covered hickey on her neck then walked passed and decided she was ready to acknowledge and assist us. I proceeded to tell her my father had just passed away, and I needed more information on the storage units. She seemed to be stumped, and said she was going to get her manager. When this man walked in, he was extremely rude and insensitive and when confused as to what we were trying to ask he responded, "alright, come on you guys gotta give me more, make it more simple. It's my day. I dunno what you need." I am not sure what he meant by this, but it was very off putting and sadly, I wonder if he was completely sober at 10:30am. After simply trying to explain that I needed to know when the storage unit bill was due and why, and still not getting anywhere...my fiancé stepped in to try and "make it more simple" for the man to understand. Not that I need this, but not once did either employee say something along the lines of, sorry for your loss, etc. Unfortunately, I have to go back and I am dreading it; but if you're looking for a nice, clean, friendly and helpful establishment where your belongings will be safely overlooked this is NOT the place. ****Hi Brian, I appreciate your reply! Although, I believe your owners feel otherwise, as I received an email that I am no longer allowed on property. My belongings are in storage, so unfortunately I will need to enter the premises. Please let me know if I should bring police to escort me. I definitely don't want it to come to this, but there is no reason I should not be allowed on site, as I have done nothing wrong. I'm very happy with Golden State Storage (GSS). I did shop around and GSS had the best deal online. To my surprise, they had a promotional price for the first three months. Wayne, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. He even gave me a lock with two keys. The storage unit was clean and ideal for all my personal belongings. There are cameras throughout the facility and a unique security code is needed to enter the premises. I would recommend GSS to a family member, a friend, and to fellow Yelp member. read more

This was the first time I rented a storage unit and it was so easy. Wayne was so helpful and kind and he actually drove me in his cart to show me exactly where the unit was so I didn't have to walk aimlessly trying to find it. He also provided me with a unit that was clean and drive up accessible. This is a convenient place if you are coming off the N 405 freeway. Wayne the Manager was very accomodating and helpful, I hopped on his golf cart, a fun fast ride to two storage units and I chose the second. The paperwork was completed in minutes; the pricing is cheaper than most storages and they always have some type of special going on. The complex is clean, well maintained and it is a one stop shop for rental trucks and moving supplies. I highly recommend Golden State Storage. read more

The Manager who lives on-site, Wayne, clearly is on a major power-trip, throwing around phrases, like, "if I knew you, it'd be a different story..." makes you quickly realize how you get treated is solely based on what kind of day he is having. He takes lunch breaks that are over an hour long, and always makes you feel like you're an inconvenience. Instead of properly keeping an eye on the front entrance, he's known to just prop the door open with a cone so he doesn't have to buzz people in. I have a good feeling that he highly profits from the units that are late on their payments and even end up going to auction. I bought an auctioned unit, and it seemed highly suspicious how the unit seemed like it had already been gone through. It seems to me he goes through them, then to save his time from having to clean it out himself, he sets up the unit to look profitable, but, when you get there, you suddenly realize you paid for a unit that you're just cleaning out someone's trash. I've bought units on an auction site before, so, I know risks involved, but at worst, the legit ones aren't more than 30% trash. However, at this site, the unit I bought on the auction site was set up to look 30% trash, when in fact, it was more like 80%. Definitely avoid Wayne, and avoid this location, as the owner doesn't even know they have auctioned units. read more

Like a trusted friend is watching your stuff. We all have a bit too much stuff these days and while you don't want to toss it you might not need it at your apartment. Wayne (who lives on site) gave us a great rate on a 10' storage area for a year. We got a UHaul truck on site to help with the move at a great price, better than out local dealer. He answers the phone and is always responsive. I felt like my belongings were safe in an easy to get to location at a fair price. I rented a Uhaul yesterday from Golden State Storage and have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Wayne and the company. Everything from reservation, pickup, and drop-off was simple, fast, and explained clearly by Wayne. He even went out of his way to contact me with a concern about my pickup time. Last year in February i moved out of my studio with literally one day to pack up and leave. Problem is i had no place to put my belongings, luckily i was referred to Golden State Storage. My aunt has been at this storage for some personal and work as well as my mother and brother who have been with here for about 2 years or so. Mgr. Wayne Gordon is the worst. Unhelpful, nasty attitude, unkind. Been customer there for 30 years on time payments. I am almost 80 years old and he won't let me use the dumpster except on Wednesday night.. My van broke down and I was not able to be there as I live an hour away. He would not consider my situation and hung up on my boss when she called to ask for mercy All the years there were the nicest couple as mgrs. now this.Not fair to be treated this way. read more
