Would not recommend this place if you are not from Lancaster. I'm not sure if they felt the vibe of where I'm from but they did not welcome me and my company. We sat at the bar and didn't get a menu till 10 - 15 mins after . We came in at the same time as another party and they were greeted , given menus and served meanwhile we waited the whole time . If your Latino or Latina your gonna get treated like shit.The bartender didn't even wipe down the table after me and my group got there.We had to wait 10 min after asking the bartender to wipe it down for us until he actually decided to remember we were there.I even ordered a beer and didn't get served till after he took care of everyone else , and already started cleaning his station. We came in here Saturday on Jan 8, '22 in hopes to catch something open late night and to also grab a bite. It was our first time in Lancaster and in this establishment. We came around 10pm right after having a very bad unwelcoming experience at a different famous town establishment, for which I have a separate review. Here at TE, we were seated at a bar with a very nice an friendly bartender helping us. The drinks he made were so delicious. My husband and I were thrilled. He made very careful and considerate food recommendations according to our dietary needs. His service was impeccable. He graciously gave us many recommendations as to where to go and what to do in the city of Lancaster, and...he snapped a very memorable picture of us at the roof terrace without us even asking. We were so so happy; he turned around our night after our unpleasant experience at a different establishment prior to coming to TE. Last but not least, the ambiance and interior were very tasteful. The Exchange Walking into the door of The Exchange, I felt a change of ambiance immediately. When you enter in the building, you are greeted by a hostess that checks your ID, and communicates upstairs if there is space for your party. I totally suggest that you make a reservation in advance because this is an establishment that is a hot spot in Lancaster. Once you have the okay to be seated, you are directed to the elevator to take you to the top floor. Mind you, this is a high rise restaurant. Once the elevator doors open, you are greeted again by the host. Me and my friends were seated and we were taking in the classy ambiance. Our sever was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive, (good-looking), and knew the menu inside and out. Again, you may have read before in one of my reviews that I am a socialite and I LOVE to go out for drinks. The Exchange has a unique drink menu. If you like Old Fashion, I highly suggest that you get their buttered old fashion. That may not be the proper name of the drink, but it's close enough. I suggest that if you are going to visit Lancaster during the spring/summer season, make sure you stop by The Exchange to look over the city. read more

First visit to The Exchange. Although they are part of the Marriott Hotel, the entrance is separate on the side. It was pouring buckets, so the Marriott front desk staff were kind enough to lend us an umbrella (we parked in garage). You enter and then there is a host at ground level who checks your reservation and then sends you up on the elevator. We were seated promptly at 8:30pm and the place was not too busy (probably weather). It's a pretty neat spot with a grand view of the city. We sat inside given the weather. Menu looks limited compared to what we saw online. Entree's looked just okay so we went with four appetizers for dinner - beet hummus, crunchwrap supreme, peach and arugula salad, and fried chicken Bao buns. All apps were pretty tasty - only diss is the bread for the hummus. The broad ends were too thick and uncooked (see the pics). Drinks were good - Mood Swing and a regular Hendricks gin. Fiancé and I checked this out after hearing all the hype. Pleasant bouncers and elevator attendant. You seat yourself wherever there's an open table, which is different. We didn't have trouble finding a seat and we're quickly greeted, given menus, and waters. Kristen took care of us and was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. I like the philosophy of the menu being all shareable. We got the fried chicken bao buns which are one of the coolest things I've eaten. Full of flavor and a really cool texture. We also got the BLT pizza which had great flavor combinations. Long list of craft cocktails, large wine selection, and decent beer list. Lancaster's new rooftop bar and restaurant did not disappoint! Different and unique from all the other restaurants downtown. You are greeted at the entrance and escorted up - nice touch. Love the design. Grab a cozy sofa inside, table, seat at the bar, or enjoy the beautiful city views from the outside seating areas. Diverse menu, something for everyone. French fries and pizza for the not so adventurous (but also have a chefs twist) to lamb and bao buns. I didn't have a cocktail, but look forward to trying a few in the future. I'm not really sure what all the negative reviews are about because my experience was delightful and all of the staff was SO friendly. My friend and I decided to go here because we wanted to have a different experience at Lancaster and thought this would be perfect! I loved that this is on a rooftop and we booked a reservation through open table at sunset time. We sat inside but right by the outside doors and it was perfect! At first we wanted to sit outside but with how chilly it was the inside seating was fine! If you're coming for a traditional dinner this is not the place but if you like more casual food and shareables than this is it! We decided to get two shareables and split a burger. If you get anything at all from here get the chicken nuggets with hot honey as it is the most delicious item and had the best flavor ! We also got the supreme crunch wrap which had good flavor , loved the pickled onions but the meat was a tad chewy. The burger was just okay. Overall the presentation of everything was awesome and I love that you have a view of both the kitchen and the bar! I got a drink as well , the mood swing, as it was recommended by my waitress and it was very good! I definitely over indulged eating here so maybe don't order as much food as we did for two people ! But it's definitely a hit in Lancaster, I'm so glad we went! Have been to The Exchange many times, and the food is usually amazing! They have a few cocktails that are always delicious and staples on the menu. The ambience and view overlooking the city is unmatched. My only disclaimer is that the service is sometimes slow. Also, every time we try and walk in, they act as if they are super busy and it's some exclusive rooftop. We wait 15 minutes for two people just to sit at the bar only to get up there and the restaurant be empty. We let it slide the first time, thinking that it might've been a staffing issue, but this seems to be their normal every time we go, and we've heard it from other people as well. Plus they do not allow kids, which is frustrating when we want to go out with our friends and family. Just a heads up! read more

Ok so this is easily one of my favorite restaurants, let alone in Lancaster. From the incredible view to the delicious food and drinks, you are in for a treat. The customer service is always top notch as well. Every time I go I end up saying, "this is probably the best _________ I've ever had." Let's talk burrata. It is sooooo creamy and all the other elements are so fresh. You feel like you're having summer on a plate and the pita is so fresh and crisp. The Nashville chicken sandwich was equal parts spicy and equal parts sweet. It was perfect and the fries...yum. I'm not a huge fry eater but these kept me coming back. The spicy crab Bucatini--omg. Give me 5 of these. The layers and layers of flavor. It's just ridiculous. It's so complex and delicious. And that's one thing I love about the food. The flavors are so layered. The Exchange burger melts in your mouth. Two patties in between that delicious bun. Easily one of the best burgers. Drinks are always yummy. Lastly, the dessert. The monkey bread is once again layered with flavor and it makes you want to eat more and more. Such is life at The Exchange. The caramel apple was decent. I made reservations for The Exchange as soon as I found out Lancaster was opening up outdoor dining. My husband and I had a weekend getaway planned and I was thrilled at the prospect of going out to eat again. It was great that we had a reservation for Saturday night, because I heard the host tell another party who walked in after us that they were fully booked. Though we had planned to dress up for dinner, we ended up walking around town all day and going straight to dinner in pretty casual outfits. I hate being underdressed but considering we're in the middle of a pandemic I think we were okay. That said, I'll be sure to utilize that cuter 'fit next time, because this is probably one of the nicer spots in downtown Lancaster (and great for photo ops!). We took the elevator up to the appropriate floor, and were seated outside at a shared long table that had a fire pit in the center. A little awk to be seated directly across other people, but I was happy to be at a fire pit table because the breeze made for a chilly evening. Our server was great and everything came out exactly as requested. We started with cocktails and I switched to a light rosé once the food arrived; the wine was perfect! The food menu is pretty small and seems to be a mix of Korean and Italian influenced plates. We had the kimchi fries, chicken nuggets and salumi pizza. We enjoyed everything and had substantial leftovers. The outdoor deck was lovely but the space inside, which I scoped out on the way to the bathroom, was also gorgeous. ** I would like to start by thanking Philadelphia's CM Michelle for introducing me to this wonderful establishment thanks to her recent informative review Wanted to surprise my sister (college graduation and new job celebration) and mother (birthday). I made a note of each in the reservation, and they brought my mom's pizza out with a candle in it it was so sweet and thoughtful! She was very appreciative :) The view is everything anyone else commented on, and it got better as the sun set. Even with clouds in the sky it was perfect. The menu, while small, still impressed all three of us. Huge brick oven pizza fans, and the Margherita was full of flavor, even with its simple ingredients. The burger was outstanding. Cooked a perfect medium rare, even with two thin patties (how they do that?). The bulgogi fries even with a smidge of heat my mother surprisingly loved. Great wine list, I sampled the Mood Swing cocktail first, which was very tasty. Couldn't taste the alcohol (but was able to feel it. Ha). The main complaint was we were going to get another round of drinks, however our waitress didn't check on us in over a half hour so we decided to just cap it and leave by that point. It wasn't her fault by any means. She had a very large party in front of us, and I could tell there were issues with bills/orders by the way she kept interacting with inside staff. She also had tables inside I noted. So unfortunately they lost out on a chunk of change those drinks would have brought in, but they should make sure their waitresses aren't overwhelmed with guests. The inside I noted was breathtaking as well, with a view still capable on the one side. Oh and a drone popped in for a good 20 minutes to spy? If that was for the restaurant.. please never again. Service: - Check-in was easy for our reservation and there were several hand sanitizing stations along the way. - Server was friendly and seemed to show up just when drinks were low which is really all you ever need in a waitress. Ordered: - Sangria: pretty solid and would def get again - Hott & shand: sweeter than I expected but tasty - Chicken nuggets: really freaking good - Burrata: too much bread to cheese ratio - Salumi pizza: pretty decent. We came tonight and we were extremely impressed with this seasons menu. The bao buns were so good especially with the slaw. The pizza again never disappoints. Our service was incredible as always and the price in my opinion is very reasonable for the quality of food. In my years of going there I have never once had a something that wasn't to my liking. Perfect night out! We loved our experience at Exchange. We arrived an hour before our scheduled reservation but the host downstairs checked and was able to find a table for us anyway. We sat outside on the rooftop sofas with a gorgeous view of the sunset and sipped on 2 well crafted cocktails - White Russian - Mood Swing (pre-made, cannot substitute) similar to a cosmo... Both were great but what really knocked our socks off was the fries. We got regular French fries, which came with two very flavorful sauces. They were perfectly seasoned and the most crispy fries we've ever had! Seating was adequately socially distanced and guests were required to wear masks when walking around the bar. I hate to give this place a 3 star review because the drinks, the view, and our bartender, were all 5 stars! This is a fun spot in Downtown Lancaster if you are looking for a bar that is a little more upscale and different than most other bars in the downtown area. However, the doorman/bouncer was extremely rude. One of my friends had a tank top on and he almost did not let him up because apparently they have a "no tank top" rule. He had a sweater with him and put it on but got hot after a while and tied it around his waist. The bouncer came up to him and was VERY rude and condescending. He ordered him to put it on even though there were other people there with sleeveless tops, including a woman in tank top. I felt like he singled my friend out and it would make me think twice before returning here. This area is not super upscale and I think having such a strict dress code will really alienate certain people from coming, which I did not like. But, the views were beautiful and the drinks were great so I am torn about my experience there. read more

My fiancée and I decided to come from Reading and enjoy a nice Sunday Brunch for what may be a while (damn you Coronavirus). The vibe at The Exchange is pretty cool, we got there around 4pm which I'm glad we did because around 5:30 is started filling up with people that we're celebrating St. Patty's at bars nearby. So I definitely recommend getting there soon after it opens to guarantee getting table. Crispy Brussels- delicious. I loved the pairing of the golden raisins and the ricotta cheese. My fiancée said they were a bit too burnt/crispy. Crispy Potatoes & Bacon - delicious. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and were hot when served, almost too hot. Chicken Skewers - this was the most disappointing part of the meal. The chicken really didn't have much too it. We wished we ordered the chicken nuggets instead. The drinks were delicious. My first drink was the one infused with chamomile tea, omg so good! My second drink was the peach one which was also good. As you can see in the photo they came out completely burnt. I showed them to the bartender and asked him what's wrong with them. I said they were totally burnt. He said "that's how we serve our food. They are charred." I asked for a manager and got the same response. The place could use a good cleaning too. No need to go back except for the view. read more

Was expecting a lot more from this new lounge/restaurant. Ordered a couple drinks and 3 shared plates. My fiancé's Old Fashioned was only filled a little over 1/2 way up the glass. I ordered a signature cocktail called the "Mood Swing". A woman next to me ordered the same drink. Both of us made the same face when we took our first drink. It was very sour and not sweet. Now to the food. We ordered the fried mushrooms, "crispy" tofu, and mini burgers. The mushrooms were excellent! The tofu was nowhere near crispy as described. I wouldn't of ordered it had I known they would be jiggly and soggy. The mini burgers had been flattened and flavor was just okay. The experience is begun with a greeting in the lobby, and an elevator ride to the top with a friendly lift operator. The view itself is worth the trip. The decor is manhattan modern, but plush and comfortable. This space is best suited for friendly mixing and casual meetings. The menu has a dozen or so finger food options to choose from. The Crispy Tofu, I chose, was quite flavorful, but lacking on crunch. The cocktail options seem to be limited to the specialties listed on the menu. I am docking a point simply because I was not able to order a classic Bloody Mary on an early Sunday afternoon. After some deliberation I chose the Fresh Start. Tequila, Tomatillo Shrub, Cucumber Water, and Sesame Chili Oil. Very refreshing and slightly sweet. I do highly recommend The Exchange. And will return to further explore the menu. read more

What an awesome spot - so, so glad we checked it out. We went on a pleasant fall Friday night, and downtown was bustling. We were seated quickly, and encouraged to wander and explore to check out the views and take pictures. Our server couldn't have been better - she was friendly, attentive, funny and so sweet. She talked us through the drink menu, made great recommendations and was quick to take care of us. The cocktails were lovely, and the beer list was ok and had a few nice craft options. The views are fantastic, and the vibe is very cool. When she found out it was my girlfriends birthday, she brought us a dessert menu and again was spot on with the reservation. The chocolate brownie sundae with homemade cinnamon ice cream was a beautiful way to cap a great evening, and it was on the house which was so generous! This is a post COVID review. We understand the difficulty in systems and new staff. We have had great drinks, service, and food in the past. Tonight was an exception to that expectation. The drinks were great, the service friendly and inattentive and the food below average ( rated by past experience). The hostess was particularly unfriendly and refused to accommodate our request for a preferred table. The table sat empty most of the time and I can only assume this was a new hostess unfamiliar with customer service. Additionally many of the menu items were unavailable. We'll expect a return to post COVID quality soon. A disappointing family evening out. read more

We made reservations two weeks in advance for my birthday during our visit and had such a let down of an experience. We were seated at the one awkward table on the rooftop that's obviously just for them to shove a two top in a corner. I asked the waitress if we could move to one of the couches and they said there was no room. Meanwhile we sat and saw two open couches (pictured) in the duration of our time there. Aside from that, there were other tables that they let get up out of their seats and walk around with no masks on, so close that one table moved and shoved our metal table with their body. So that was cute! I'm just bummed. We visited this place because we had hoped for a good experience, got shoved in a corner where we couldn't even take advantage of the view and then had a bunch of mask-less people in our space who were maneuvering around us like we were an inconvenience. I just hoped that when you make note of it being your birthday that they'd honor that -- in the very least, by just putting you in a good spot.
