Service was impeccable with Ari Awesome spot! Really cool, old architecture, dark inside like stepping back in time. Walked in, no reservation, and sat immediately. Had some awesome bread, the lobster bisque, which has a little kick to it, and the lamb. Lamb flavors were incredible. I'm not a cauliflower fan and ignored that, but bet it was good if you like that. Had a gravy and lentils, maybe, and I devoured it. I have to say they are an accommodating group of people. They accommodated me coming in after I had to cancel my reservation because we would not make it in time. We intended to order from the bar, but they found us a table. There was a lovely Happy Birthday sign at the table for me. Elizabeth our waitress was nice and attentive. The ambiance is old style glamor. The chandeliers were beautiful and when the weather warms up there is roof top dining. We did check out the rooftop and there were small see through pods. We had fried calamari appetizer, a Mahi Mahi Thai inspired special with brocolini, and a half portion of grilled romaine Ceasars salad with chicken. The dressing was so creamy and delicious. Ach, you hate to see it. The cocktails are still very solid and the Belvie bread remains insanely tasty. But the rest of the food has taken a serious turn to the mediocre. The salads are unremarkable, the fish over engineered, the filet mignon without character, and the less said about the "risotto" the better. I hope it was just an off night but at these prices we will take our splurge dinners to sister restaurant Josephine's, where the quality has always been sky high and seems to rise every year. read more

The inn has been set up to have wonderful decor with their dark/brick facade and the ambiance of the restaurant is moody and cozy. The food is unexpectedly fantastic- tried the focaccia bread, gem salad and the chicken piccata and each was better than the next. read more

Service (Lindsay this time) is always on point and so is the food! Everything was delicious, especially the arancini ball appetizer and the Chicken Katsu dinner - so flavorful and scrumptious! I like the atmosphere but because we had some guests who are hearing impaired, it made conversation upstairs difficult. Go here for FOOD not SERVICE! Let's see we started with the happy hour burrata cheese. Can out with no crackers or bread. Ok. "Could we order house bread" *first eye roll" okay. Oh by this point we ordered two gin and tonics. Eats half the burrata with the bread, asks for more bread. *eye roll* okay. We'll order two Vodka shiftys (as listed on the happy hour menu), they come out *rum*. Okay again. I'll order the sliders too. *Genuinely surprised that I would order another bite* finishes the absolutely 10/10 sliders and ask to finish our drinks with bread * eye roll * don't finish leave an 18% tip because the sliders were amazing. We had such a wonderful experience at the Belvedere Inn! From start to finish, everything was perfect. Lindsay provided absolutely amazing service--she made us feel so welcome and truly went out of her way to make our evening special. We were visiting Lancaster, PA, and our hotel recommended the Belvedere for our special night. Even though the restaurant was fully booked, the hostess kindly suggested we try the bar. When we arrived, she somehow worked her magic and found us a cozy spot by rearranging a few tables. We couldn't have been more grateful! The food was outstanding--the bucatini, Belvi bread, and crab cakes were simply spectacular. It was our first time dining there, but thanks to Lindsay and the entire team, it certainly won't be our last. read more

I realized how much cooking methods can travel across cultures. The mussels were cooked in a white-wine broth, a style that comes from coastal France and Belgium, where people steam shellfish quickly to keep the flavor fresh. The cod taught me what pan-searing really does--it makes the outside crisp through the Maillard reaction while keeping the inside soft. This place is so good. If you know you're going to be in the area I highly recommend making reservations way beforehand as they are pretty booked up. The building was an old mansion back in the late 1700s early 1800s. The ambiance is great. The host is friendly & Ari took such good care of us, even taking pictures & ensuring they came out good! The food is spectacular. From the appetizers to the main dish to dessert & coffee. Afterwards we went up to second floor which has another bar & a piano player as well as a beautiful outdoor terrace which they set up with igloos & individual electric fireplaces for each table. The views are spectacular & I hope to dine out there next time. This place is fabulous & I can't wait to return. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Booked a "patio table" for my sister's birthday on 4/13/26 and was placed in a bubble/igloo in direct sunlight with no AC or fans. It was easily 95+ degrees inside the bubble, my sister and I couldn't sit in there for more than a couple minutes, it was like being in a hot car. When I asked if we could be moved inside, the server stated "I know it can get really hot in there" but due to the "time of our reservation" there was no way to move inside unless we wanted to sit at the loud and extremely crowded bar. We decided to leave but my sister was VERY disappointed because her birthday dinner was ruined. When you book an outdoor patio table they state they "may not have a back up table for you inside if the weather is inclement" but I wouldn't consider a nice day with a beautiful breeze inclement..... Unless you get stuck in a hot greenhouse without AC or a fan or the option to move inside.... What a joke. read more

Everyone raves about the Caesar salad so we decided to go give it a try. Yep its yummy. however $14 for the salad, right on the border of ridiculous. I added chicken to mine which was an $8 up-charge, friends when I tell you I got three pieces of chicken in my salad that could have hardly weighed 1-2oz in total. So like $2.60 per bite of chicken? This was our second time here, our first being before we decided to live in the area! It's always a pleasure to come, the staff are very kind, very knowledgeable and attentive to every need you may have. You are greeted every time you come and go, and there's always a smile to go with it! The ambience is opulent and historic. They have kept the charms of the original building, decorating it with tasteful art and flowers everywhere. This is a great place for a date night, a special occasion, or a even just a great experience. We were lucky enough to book outdoor seating on their adorable balcony, there's only a few tables so reservations recommended. I'll let the photos do the talking! The food is ALWAYS delicious here, and plating is artful and creative. We had gnocchi, some salads (the carrot salad was such a highlight! We loved the flavors!) and the duck was also cooked to perfection. My husbands only complaint was the udon noodles it was resting on (the duck).. he said it was delicious but didn't feel like it go well with the duck. Otherwise, no complaints If you're in Lancaster, this is a MUST TRY! I will definitely be coming in for a third visit and many more. We are in Lancaster for a family event and wanted to try a restaurant that is unique to the local area. I went to my trusted Yelp App, like I always do when visiting an unfamiliar location. For my wife and I The Belvidere was the most intriguing restaurant but unfortunately their website didn't have a table available until 10:00 p.m., my wife called them and luckily they had just received a cancelation. We had a 7:30 p.m. reservation. They have free street parking and a parking garage a few yards on the left, we found a spot on the street and we walked in at 7:15 p.m, we gave the hostess our name and we were immediately seated. The decor is very relaxing and warm. It's not quiet because the place was packed, but I didn't consider it noisy. Now to the important part, the food. We hadn't eaten all day, so it was game on! Appetizers: Arancini 5 stars! Beautifully crunchy on the outside and the perfect texture on the inside with a great overall flavor. The sauce it is served with was perfect. The Belvidere Bread 5 stars! Get outta here! I could eat this bread every day, all day. It's crispy and so tasty we forced ourselves to save some so we could have it to properly clean our dinner plates at the end of our meals. ( ya know, like Italians do) Lobster Bisque Soup 4 stars. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the portion. It was the largest bowl of Lobster Bisque that I've ever been served in a restaurant. It was very flavorful, but it lacked lobster meat. It had very small pieces of lobster meat, but it didn't have that one big piece that is the prize. Entrées: I went with the special. A 14 oz. Bone-in Ribeye over mashed potatoes served with asparagus with mushroom sauce. I ordered it medium temperature. 5 stars. I am not a fan of mushrooms, so before ordering, I asked the waiter if the sauce had big pieces of mushrooms, but it did not. I hate to change a special a chef has created, so I ordered as the chef had designed, and I am happy I did. It was cooked to what I consider a perfect medium temperature, and the flavor was so good that I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. The asparagus was the best restaurant asparagus I've had not just because of the light seasoning but because it was cooked, so that it was tender. In my experience, most restaurant asparagus is undercooked it seems like it had been picked, cleaned, heated for 5 minutes, and served. Not this asparagus, it cut with a fork, and I finished every stalk. My wife had chicken picante 4 stars. She loved the flavor of the sauce, but she didn't give it 5 stars because of her personal preference that the chicken cutlet be pounded out to be thinner and the breading to be crispier. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the cranberry spiced margarita. For us, it wasn't sweet enough. We had entered the restaurant with the intentions that we'd be ordering dessert, but that was not to be true. Sadly, we were full. Side notes: The waiters name was Jamie. He was friendly, knowledgeable, accurate, and attentive 5 stars for Jamie. It was just my wife and I, and we were very happy not only with the service and the food but the total time the dining experience lasted. Wow! This is a hidden gem. From the outside it looks like a good restaurant, the further in you go the better it gets. There are three areas, downstairs, upstairs terrace and upstairs bar and dine in area. It is a higher end place, but worth every cent you spend there. Menu is long but not overwhelming; it has all that is needed and nit more. There are very few plates that might look overpriced but the rest are absolutely fantastic in flavor, value and creativity of new flavors. The drinks are perfect and an amazing value as well. Street parking and garage parking within walking distance. I will be back many times as there are many more things I want to try. read more

What a Gem! This was such a cozy well dressed restaurant. I was in shorts, but their food was dressed to impress!! The surf and turf filet and scallops was my choice and it was perfectly cooked and melt in my mouth, and scallops were delicate and nutty. This is a great place to bring a date, but is booked up so you best reserve a table. There are two floors so it's bigger than appears. The drinks are top notch and they had a nice selection of bourbon & whiskey. I had Boondocks and that's hard to find. Reasonably priced too with a top bourbon at $16 for a double. Went here for date night yesterday. I grew up in Lancaster but never went until now. We got the crispy pork belly appetizer and it was very yummy. Good flavors, and the pork was melt in your mouth tender. I got the scallop entrée. Came with four scallops, perfectly seared. Also had a corn succotash and grits which created the perfect bite with the scallop. My husband had the filet which he said was okay. It has a bleu cheese butter which he doesn't like. We had the crème brûlée for dessert. It was silky and smooth under the crunchy brûlée. Service was good. Definitely a pricey dinner but I thought it was worth it. read more

I have been a patron of The Belvedere for many years. Sadly, it is no longer a staple on my go-to list. The nostalgia has been swept away. I started noticing a decline with the last chef change, but this past visit was the worst yet. Wagyu Bao Bun Sliders for $14? Unheard-of. That was the first red flag. To my surprise, our server did not ask how I would like it cooked. The presentation was poor. Let's throw some budget meat with a slice of American cheese in torn buns and slap it on a plate. That was not wagyu. It was overcooked hamburger that was devoid of flavor. Patties not large enough to fill the bao buns. And if you've ever had a bao bun before, you'll know this isn't it. Bao buns are fluffy, airy, petite little clouds of perfection. I would be embarrassed to call this a bao bun. In fact, the bao bun has been disrespected! The entire plate was a misfire. A wilted piece of lettuce tucked under the bun, an Asian inspired sweet sauce that paired terribly with the cheese and meat, and some kind of unidentifiable pickled (yet tasteless) vegetable. Not to mention, I was terribly sick when I got home! My friend ordered the crab cakes and sent them back. He was only able to muster through half of one cake. Service (Elizabeth) was excellent! Always is! Food is all á la carte. Belvie bread was heavily layered with cheese, but really tasty! Grilled romaine salad has been a long-time favorite with a "drizzle" of cream & Parmesan cheese. No longer so! Seems the chef has opted to smother the romaine with a tasty but fat calorie & salt heavy Parmesan "goop" that required an extensive debridement to be edible as a salad entree. Classic example that more is NOT always better. That said & once reduced, the romaine was perfectly prepared and the tenderloin tips & grilled salmon were excellent additions!! Cocktails, soups & desserts are predictable winners! The Belvedere is an "gold standard"downtown Lancaster fine dining restaurant which continues to deliver. BTW: while the "virtual fireplaces" seemed a bit cheesy, they did offer a visual warmth without the heat allowing for added tables. Perhaps in colder weather the real-deal might be considered again. The Belvedere Inn is a charming and historic restaurant with a beautiful setting. My husband and I enjoyed the outdoor area. It was warm and inviting. The service was outstanding. Our waitress provided us excellent service. She welcomed us with a warm and friendly greeting. She provided efficient service between taking our order, filling our drinks and bringing out the food. The food was served so elegantly. She definitely went above and beyond. She even said Happy Anniversary. The food was delicious and well prepared from the plate setting to how the food was served. My husband and I started out with steamed mussels. They were full of flavor and presented at the table perfectly. The mussels were cooked excellent. We also each had the pan-seared Salmon over top of wild rice, lump crab meat, roasted butternut squash with a spicy coconut curry and chili oil. I normally don't tolerate spicy foods well however this plate was my all time favorite. I loved everything about it. For dessert we had the mango cheesecake. I am a fan of cheesecake this with the mango and pineapple compote was so refreshing. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family at our next gathering. read more

The bisque was a little thin and lacked sherry. I went for the duck and asked for it med rare but it came out lacking any pink. Flavors were on point but she must have been the last picked at the prom or someone else got some slices of my breast. My son had the burger and the flavors were on point. Just moved to Lancaster not long ago. This cute place has amazing ambience. Large groups make it a bit noisy for a party of two. It's a beautiful place that I'm sure it can't be avoided. Food was great, presentation was noted. Felt a bit rushed with the service at times. I had the chicken marsala with mashed potatoes. My friend had scallops. We have to say, delicious! The ceviche appetizer didn't come with chips, that was disappointing. Overall a great place. I would go back to try more. I recommend. read more
