I was a member for over a year and up until recently when I stopped going to this gym, I had enjoyed working with one of the trainers and fellow members. However, as Minnesota state laws relating to COVID-19 were not consistently practiced or enforced, it did not feel safe to continue. I witnessed the owners and members fail to wear a mask in the gym and/or while working out as well as members fail to wear masks covering both their nose and mouth. Let me be clear, this is NOT about lifting the mask to sip water. This was clear violation of the mandate to wear a mask over nose and mouth while working out. The owners and their trainers turned a blind eye despite multiple requests to follow the COVID-19 mandates. Aside from blatantly disregarding the law and everyone's physical safety, these recent events took an emotional toll on me as well. I have never felt less a part of the Tone 2 Day community than I did during this time. A member rolled her eyes at me in response to a request that she put on a mask while working out. I didn't get much, if any, support from the owner after this incident except to tell me she had a good online program. For these reasons, I highly recommend you look elsewhere to find a gym where more than your dollars are valued.

There were many options, and the machines were some of the most premium options you could get. They also had a recovery room and posing room additionally. It wasn't too crowded although parking was a bit tough. The staff was friendly with an approachable demeanor, at least for the members that I spoke to. However, when meeting the owner, he was oddly dismissive which left a weird feeling, though I don't anticipate that to be a factor in reviewing this gym. As for pricing, I would say it's pretty okay, however it does seem a bit expensive when you consider the add-ons. For example, the recovery room is an additional $40. The costs can definitely rack up, and I don't think the extra options are worth the price.

While the overall structure of class is the same (sections for upper body, thighs, abs, etc), each instructor brings their own style and moves to class, which keeps it both interesting and challenging! Second, the workout itself is TOUGH but in a good way, and even the most in-shape person is going to find it challenging. But don't let that scare you if you've never done barre! Third, they are welcoming to everyone! My classes so far have been filled with women of all ages and abilities. There's no judgment if you need to take breaks, and the instructors are there to help you if you're not sure how to do a certain move or to help adjust your form. There is plenty of parking, there are cubbies and some lockers available, and they have a small retail area if you're looking to buy workout tops, grippy socks, etc.

I received personal training from Amy and also attended group classes led by both coaches as well. Both trainers are kind and approachable--no drill sergeant mentality. They will meet you where you are in your fitness journey. In classes, although it is a group setting both coaches do an amazing job at keeping a pulse on each individual. In group classes, Kurt seemed to be aware of and know each person so though you were in a group setting, it felt like a private session because you got individual attention! Amy came prepared and had a plan for every single one of my sessions having considered what we accomplished previously, where we are heading, considering recommendations my chiropractor from next door gave her, and investing her own personal time outside of our sessions ahead of time to create the right plan just for me. She planned my individual workout for me and I saw her commitment and dedication in doing the same for every single one of her clients. I tried to call and get in touch with someone there to find a time to set up a meeting with a personal trainer. I was very excited and ready to start my powerlifting journey, and after seeing these positive reviews I thought this would be the place to do so. I called. Someone answered the phone, I didn't get his name, but he was chewing loudly in my ear the whole duration of the conversation. I asked for one of the owners/managing trainers and he said that no one was available. When I said I could call back later he told me "You don't need to." I hate to leave a bad review, especially considering it's my first review ever, but I'm quite fed up with not being taken seriously by gym owners, staff, and trainers. This was an incredibly disappointing experience.

Minneapolis has so many Anytime Fitness and Planet Fitness, which are not bad establishments, just not a place that fits my workout personality (i.e. "lunk alarms", no real heavy lifting and dumbbells that stop at 50#). Southside definitely provides the atmosphere to focus on your strength and lifting goals. Loved the gritty atmosphere of "go in and get it done, no excuses". The main gym is awesome and has a ton of speciality bars, racks, DBs that go up to 150 and platforms specifically for oly lifting only plus other platforms for powerlifting. I came in around 3-4:30 and was one of the only there...so no issue whatsoever of having the run of the place. Honestly I wish that there was a place like this in Omaha. Will back for sure next time here.

I did a ton of research when l started looking for a personal trainer and interviewed several trainers in person. While they were all great in their own right, Lenora stood out among the rest. She has a solid education backing her training up and truly approaches it in a holistic way, which was exactly what I was looking for. So far she has helped me greatly! We are working through some postural issues I have and she is really great during every session making sure we are doing the right exercises to help strengthen and balance my body and changing something if it isn't working. Lenora really knows her stuff. She also helps me out nutritionally and is very educated in this as well. She makes workouts fun, but also kicks your a$$. She is very good at helping you learn to push yourself and cheering you on the whole way. She finds out what really motivates you and utilizes that in your sessions.
