I've been getting my blonde hair done for over 15 years so have been to tons of salons, seen many stylists, and have had every technique under the sun done to my hair during blonding sessions. When you've had this much experience getting hair done there are certain things you look for that really set apart some stylists from the rest. Two of the main things which I really appreciated from Gabby during my babylight session was that 1) she took out the beginning foils about halfway through her foiling [when you have thick hair or are getting lots of foils this is almost always a necessity to avoid over processing in the starting sections] and 2) she took me back to the chair to properly give my shadow root, during which she was super meticulous to leave out the money piece section until the end [lots of stylists will have you hover over the shampoo bowl uncomfortably while they slap the toner on]. It's little things like these that build my trust in a stylist and I VERY much appreciated. I'm picky and am usually one and done with most salons when trying somewhere new because I'll walk out with splotchy spots or overprocessed/overtoned hair [don't even get me started on my horror show of an appointment at Cranford's Hair Studio 924]. I can say I'm confident I found my forever hair home at Blush. Other things which didn't affect my hair specifically but made a great experience was that Gabby is also one cool chick. She wasn't overly chatty (bless these stylists for working and talking in masks all day) but just enough to be friendly and avoid too long of silence. The salon is adorable and could be pictured in an anthropologie magazine. Chalk it up to the quarantine rules [less people = more personal hair attention], relief of finally being rid of quarantine hair [I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror], but everything about my visit was wonderful and I left one very happy customer! I was recently going to Blush in Cranford and working specifically with Diana. She was doing an…read moreamazing glaze on my hair and in conversation we had talked about extensions and how she put them in to grow at her bob. I also currently have a bob and was looking for a more fun way to grow it out. I ultimately decided to have the extensions put in. They were fine to begin with. The cut that she gave me was terrible, it was like I had a mullet, super heavy in the back and just about no hair on the sides, other than my own. It was impossible to style without it looking like I clearly had poorly installed extensions. I had to go back twice. One of the clips was sticking in my scalp behind my ear. She fixed it, then I had to go back again because the bottom track was coming completely undone. About a week and a half later the entire bottom row came completely out. I had to remove all the extensions myself because it just looked ridiculous. Almost $1000 between product, installation, glaze on the extensions (that didn't need it) and a cut and blowout. I messaged them to cancel future appointments and let them know what had happened. Of course they wanted me to come in to fix it, but at that point I had already taken them out and have a terrible taste in my mouth about the entire experience. At the very least, they should've offered me some money back for my troubles...they didn't. I definitely will not be going back and definitely will not be referring them to anyone.

The quality of my hair has also improved, it's falling out less and is very soft and growing out nicely and quickly. I have been using the hair oil she sells in the salon (Ruhe) and I think that's helped a lot. I also enjoy the aesthetic in the salon, lots of plants, quiet (She only takes 1 appointment at a time), low music. I'm not much of a talker during a haircut and Kelsey respects that. My appointments with her are always very relaxing and as I said previously, my haircuts are perfect and my hair looks so good. She is definitely worth the price (which isn't that expensive in my opinion).

They did my hair and the idiot whoever it was had my track showing as a PART! UGH I was livid never went back. I was desperate this time and decided to try again, I came in with my son and was told immediately he couldn't be there. I was annoyed since I had called earlier and would've appreciated a heads up. But alas, I came back and got my hair done. I had braids already in and thought they could just go straight to sewing in but they weren't the right type for a closure. So I was charged for taking out the braids, washing my hair and re-braiding. THEY CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING! If they could charge you for breathing they just might. They were about to charge $20 for using already used hair and I almost lost it ;( but the receptionist was nice enough to actually waive that fee. Now my hair came out great I believe her name was Toya who did it. The braider a slim white or Hispanic girl made me apprehensive. As a natural of 10 years I had to ask was she well versed in combing black ppl hair. But she said she was and did a great job of washing, combing and braiding. I just wish I would've know to bring my own products. All in all great place to go to when you REALLY need your hair done.

One went home early and didn't clear it with the manager who thought the stylist was still present in the shop(she called the stylist and found out she has left early for the day). She was very knowledgeable and professional. Overall, my hair came out great and I love it, but when I got home I realized the balayage was only on my crown. None of the underneath layers were colored. I reached out the the salon to ask what I paid for ($377 in total) and they confirmed it was for full balayage. When I asked why there was no color on the under layers I was told they book and price by the hour, so I paid for the full hour of service and not necessarily full coverage balayage. I couldn't help but feel like I was overcharged, but like I said, I like the result. I went in hoping for full balayage, paid for full balayage and I still can't help but wonder what partial balayage would look like (and cost). But the salon did offer to refund their standard $30 for the misunderstanding.
