My wife and I left the Eye care Group today for ever. We didn't really have a problem with the doctors. We had a problem with over booking and the help. Young man was very insensitive to our situation. AND RUDE. Two weeks in a row we had 2:15 appointments. At 3:30 we hadn't seen the doctor yet! After the check in the young man was given my wife's file. He presided down the hall and was doing something on a computer. While cit catting with co workers. After that he went in to one of the rooms to talk to another co worker. 25 minutes after her initial appointment he proceeded to call her. I explained that my wife had a 4:00pm appointment else where, and could we be seen in the next hour and a half. His answer was = We don't work by time, we go by patients. And there are 8 in front of you. if each patient took 15 minutes which they take much more than that. That's 2 hours ! That is not expectable. Many of the other patients were complaining also, how many left? They thing they have the only show in town. Many of business that have thought that way are not in business anymore ! We went to eye Care center for my husband's cataract problem.Dr. Brandon made the surgery with no problems . Came in with a cut on my eye that had been bothering me for months. Dr. Ando helped me get it healed within a week. Not only is she an expert in her field and a bona fide genius, but she's personable and somehow makes you feel comfortable amidst the typically uncomfortable process of having your eye examined. Next time I need an eye doctor, it'll be an easy decision to return to The Eye Care Group in Orange. read more

Very inefficient office. Every time I come, I spend a total of two hours at the office and it's always at least an hour before seeing the doctor. It would be better if I was told "thank you for your patience" but they couldn't be bothered. I enjoy select doctors and staff but overall would not recommend this office. I'm switching my provider. read more

When I made an appointment over the phone I was told they accepted my insurance. When I presented at the office for my appointment they took my insurance card and I paid a copay. Three weeks later I get a phone call from Eye Care Group stating that the Dr. I saw didn't take my insurance even though she is part of the group! On top of that the prescription I was given for glasses actually distorts my vision. A friend of mine went to this group once and didn't recommend them, I should have taken that advice. read more

Care is excellent and personable, even though they are a large group. They are very thorough also.

I don't understand all the complaints here on yelp about long waits. Yes, going to the BEST eye doctors in CT (or the best in country) could take a long time, could be organized better, but when it comes down to it- it is the care that matters. I can honestly say that Dr Kostina saved my life. Without her I would never have gotten a diagnosis. I was shuffled from one doctor to another until I was told to go to her. She discovered what was wrong and without her help I don't know what I would have done. I am so thankful that there are doctors who care, who go out of their way to help, and who take things on that other doctors have dismissed. I'll take the long waits. Thank you for saving my life and for listening to me instead of dismissing my symptoms. read more

I had an appointment for cataract surgery. I showed up as scheduled at 11.30 after a hour and half wait at 1:00 I was taken to another room for pre-op. I was told that Dr. Dao is two patients behind and that I was to wait until 4:30 to have surgery. I left without having surgery. The thought of waiting on a hospital bed for another 3 and half hours. These people are grossly inconsiderate. They could have called or texted to come at later time. This delay also ruined my ride plans. I allowed three hours time; I was told two hours and allowed for an extra hour for safe planning. This Dr Dao was two patients behind; was poor planning or over booking. I do not feel confident in using this doctor who is poorly planning her day. We are people not cattle! I have never been contacted by this facility to reschedule the need for surgery has not gone away. I wanted Dr. Rose and was stuck with this overbooking Dr. Dao. read more

Having a reception person hacking all over and handing you a pen etc is kinda funny seeing that you take temperature checks and ask questions about sickness at entry door. With only a shield, no mask! Time to do the same for staff. Won't be going back. read more

Worst Doctors office we have ever been too. Arrogant Dr's with poor bedside manners, seem to be all about the money they are getting as opposed to patient care. The only good thing to come from our experience there was the nurses and PA's and they have more contact with the patients then the 15 minutes you get with the Dr. read more

I haven't had the complaints described here. And the most important thing is, these doctors are really experts. The most thorough exams I've ever had, the clearest explanations. If that means they run late, so what -- even though that hasn't happened to me more than at other doctors' offices. read more

Been going there 5 years now always met with an attitude when I get fitted for overly expensive glasses. Woman acts as if I'm wasting HER time and money when really it's the other way around. I love Dr. Thornquist he fixed my lazy eye and has been incredible. BUT the wait for getting into the appointment to see him each time is a minimum of an hour. Terrible job of time management and getting people in and out of the rooms. Had an appointment at 10:30am still haven't been seen by 12:40.. Horrible wait time - just to make an appointment! Be prepared to be placed on hold over and over again.

I have no complaints about the level of care my child has received at this practice, but I agree with the other reviewer about the ridiculous wait times. Not only did we wait for a half hour beyond our scheduled appointment time, but we then waited over an hour after they administered the drops to dilate her eyes. So that's an hour and a half of waiting around a doctor's office with a restless two year old! All in all it took nearly 3 hours from the time we checked in to when we left. This is the second time we've had this happen and it is very frustrating. I get the sense that they must double book people. read more

I have spent many hours waiting at appointments here. They take you past your appointment time, then keep you waiting in the room. Again I have spent up to 4 hours in one day there. And when I asked how much longer it will be there give me such an attitude. They have no respect for peoples time. read more

The eye techs are all wonderful and professional, but I am always disappointed with Dr. Kostina. Unfortunately, I am stuck with her for now as she is the only neuro ophthalmologist in the group. As a patient with an optic brain tumor, you come in with a lot of questions and anxiety; this doctor comes in rushing through everything, and no time for answering any concerning questions. After 30 years with my eye doctor I decided to try someone else. I chose the eye care group and was not disappointed. I walked in at 2:30 for my 2:45 appointment and saw a large bright clean waiting room and was greeted by the lovely lady at the desk who checked me in and took a copy of my insurance card. Promptly at 2:45 I was taken into a room by another pleasant employee to take a field test. She then brought me to other rooms for more testing that was needed where I met several other pleasant employees. Dr. Wandel was very thorough and explained everything in a way I could understand, she did not rush and answered all my questions. Every single staff member was very kind and they all dressed in crisp clean grey scrubs that made them look very neat and professional. Honestly I have never had a better experience at any type of doctors office in my life. What a great group. In addition to the great staff, they have at least a dozen doctors with every eye specialty you can possibly think of and they offices in 4 different towns. This review is for the Orange location. If you are looking for an eye doctor this is the group to go to, trust me, not only have I been wearing glasses/contacts for 30+ years but I work in a big hospital and I am a tough critic. This place is like being Disney Land. I was so impressed that when I go back in 6 months I'm bringing doughnuts for these lovely professional neat clean kind staff.
