They offer a great app called Solv for a pre-checkin/digital waitlist/appointment scheduling option. Staff was friendly and efficient, and we felt that our concerns were heard and the needs for our child were met. It's truly urgent care as it should be. With such fast and friendly service, we wish they treated adults too!

My husband and son arrived at the Madison location of Urgent Care for Children around 6:55 tonight…read more My husband made sure our son was comfortably situated in the waiting room before attempting to sign in at 7:00. The receptionist at the front desk was visibly irritated and informed him that they were not taking walk-ins tonight. There were two other families in the waiting room at that time, with one hour before closing. While my husband and son packed up to leave the clinic without being seen, I called the Huntsville location at 7:03. The receptionist was very pleasant, and confirmed that they were indeed still taking walk in patients. Ultimately, I opted to seek care in the Huntsville location tomorrow due to the amount of time it would take to travel between the two locations. I wish I could comment on the quality of care in Madison, but unfortunately the office experience didn't allow for that today. I understand how busy clinics can be, especially during the winter months; however, it is very frustrating to be turned away when the website clearly states that walk-ins are welcome.

The nursing staff is amazing too. At my last visit, Sheila was very professional, courteous, and thorough with my consultation. The office was very crowded that day and she checked on me during my wait as well as kept me updated throughout my visit. She is a great nurse! I always have a great experience here and will continue to come in the future.

If you're looking for a clinic that can treat you but excels in ignoring your secondary insurance requirements and botching even the simplest instructions directly given to them by the insurer, look no further. This is the place for you! It's honestly impressive how determined they are to not follow directions. I watched in awe as my secondary insurer, a living, breathing human being, literally spoke to them on the phone and explained exactly what was needed. Like, step-by-step, as if talking to a toddler with a billing system. Did that help? Of course not! Why let clear communication ruin a good disaster? Instead, American Family Care billing department decided to go rogue. They billed incorrectly (again), sent the wrong billing codes (bravo), and then didn't even provide the additional information requested by the secondary insurer. And don't worry, if you're hoping for updates or resolution, just sit back and wait forever. Their follow-up skills are so advanced, they've transcended the concept of time entirely. Emails? Vanished. Callbacks? Hilarious. Accountability? nah...But wait, it gets better. Ever try to email them? Or send a letter? You might as well attach your message to a balloon and hope it floats into the right office. Responses are rarer than a solar eclipse. Apparently, their inbox is a black hole where accountability goes to die. And their physical mail? Probably stacked under someone's lunch leftovers. If you enjoy endless phone calls, re-explaining the same thing fifteen times, and playing detective just to get your bills corrected for care you already paid for with the primary insurance congratulations! You've found your happy place. In short: great place if you want to feel like you're participating in a billing scavenger hunt with no prize at the end. But you will get treated. Avoid unless you're trying to test your patience and sanity or writing a thesis on bureaucratic failure. Primary insurer, no problem...Secondary-DISASTER-no clue what they're doing but it's not the right thing. All the work they put in for $35 far exceeds the return they would get. Amazing.

I was hoping to be able to look around and see their selection before making an appointment. It looked like they probably keep their merchandise in the back. All I could see was the waiting room. It was very dark in there and honestly just gave me a very bad vibe. Everyone looked so sick. If I didn't know, I would think it was a doctor's office. I would have been so upset if I had made an appointment and had to go through that experience in there. I literally ran down the stairs back to my car. Awful atmosphere and environment. I feel bad for the staff having to work in there.

When he had some changes in his vision, I phoned their office on 3/7/22 and explained that he would like someone to take a look at his eye (at his annual appointment he had been told to let them know if he noticed any change). After some time on hold, I was told that there was no available time until August and to just buy some Refresh eyedrops and use them twice a day. Well, we found another ophthalmologist who saw him later that week, identified wet macular degeneration and sent him to a Retina Specialist. He will not be returning to Mccoy Vision.

He informed me while I was visiting that my left eye had a unstable retinal detachment that would need laser surgery and that my Right eye ( MY ONE AND ONLY HEALTHY EYE) was displaying signs of spreading atypical lattice degeneration and would need laser procedures as well. I went to family doctor to verify this diagnosis and that doctor informed me that my right eye was fine, and he could not see any lattice. He also informed me that my left eye was stable and should not be messed with. I went back to Dr. Saunders for another three month consult and he informed me that the lattice in my right eye had spread and that I had developed a tear in that eye and expedient laser surgery was of the utmost necessity as soon as possible. He went on to say that he would not have me wait even 3 more months to see if it had spread because doing so might end in the necessity of vitrectomy surgery with oil placement as had been done in my left eye. I was rightly terrified, and so I went again for a second opinion and was informed by that doctor that not only was my right eye completely healthy and showed NO SIGN of ANY DAMAGE, but that that doctor regularly received patients requesting a second opinion after receiving a diagnosis of retinal tearing from Dr. Saunders, and the doctor found that no tearing existed I have a history of damage in my left eye, and have had 5 surgeries as a result. From experience, I can tell you that my eyes have a propensity to scar after laser surgery. Scaring often CAUSES retinal detachments. Had I followed through with his treatment recommendations, I could have actually precipitated a retinal detachment where none had been. PLEASE for your own sight and eye health, DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! and if going to this doctor is a necessity, PLEASE get a second opinion before undergoing any treatment. Thank you for your time.

Dr. McLain went over a couple of options and explained the benefits and risks of each. I was given the opportunity to review the cost of the procedure and decide without pressure how I would like to proceed. I was out of his office within 30 minutes of arriving. Although the time was short, I was completely satisfied; so much that I made my appointment for my procedure that day. My next appointment was for my procedure. Again, I was greeted warmly by his staff who remembered me. As I was anxious, I was grateful that again that I waited a very short time to be taken for my procedure. The night of my procedure, I received a call from Dr. McLain from his personal cell for follow up. That truly impressed me and showed me his level of commitment to those in his care. I cannot stress enough how warm and welcoming Dr. McLain and his staff presented themselves to me. Having any surgical procedure is very stressful. However, my stress level was relatively low due to the atmosphere they have created. I highly recommend Dr. McLain and have since move all my continuing business to his facility. Just do it, you will not be disappointed.
