It's the 10th (ish) restaurant on the left, the 14th (ish) on the right. But the best on the street. Service was terrific (attentive, informed, appreciated suggestions), menu was extensive with all the good stuff-starters, appetizers, rices, vegetarian/fish/lamb etc. We ordered 7 dishes, our daughter declared her favorite the chicken korma & tandoori saag. The vegetarian biryani was great! (Needed a *little* more spice?) The chicken tawa was delicious, flavorful and perfect portion. I've lived in this city my whole life but have never made it to Brick Lane - so what better thing to do for my birthday visit to Brick Lane than dinner at The Famous Curry Bazaar that Eddie Huang with Vice ate at when in London that other celebrities have also raved on about too? This place is a landmark. The food was excellent and the service was divine and the location is fantastic and this establishment only adds to the area's charm and appeal. Arriving early we were kindly shown another location next-door operated by the same family/owners however deciding to wait for this place to open to the public was great as this afforded me and my sister an opportunity to explore the area and in doing so discovered a very cool vintage market that I went shopping at before dinner; I bought what I bought, had it boxed, went off to the Post Office and had it shipped home (I bought a lot of stuff that I didn't want to carry around) before enjoying my birthday dinner at this establishment that day, thank you for this opportunity to see more of Brick Lane before my dinner, thank you. read more

After walking in the rain for a mile we found the Curry Bazaar and it did not disappoint from the initial seating, to the service at the table, the attentiveness to my sisters gluten allergy and then the FOOD it was all amazing!!! The food was so delicious, top 5 garlic naans I've had in my life. I even ate lamb curry which I refuse to do in states because its gamey. They slowly cook the lamb in the best tasting curry I've had and when paired with the jasmine rice and garlic naan the combo is unstoppable. Highly recommend this spot if your looking for curry when visiting London! They are open late, the food is near perfect, and the staff is friendly. read more

I was very surprised with how highly reviewed this restaurant was considering my experience here. First, our waiter seemed to be disoriented and it was very offputting. We ordered three dishes and were disappointed to find that they were all served to us lukewarm, and had no spice to them at all. The butter chicken tasted like tomato soup out of a can, and the other dishes were equally lacking the traditional kick that makes Indian food taste so good. Every single restaurant with homemade signage proclaiming to be the most loved on Yelp, Trip Advisor, people out front luring you in with 20% off deals and a free drink, etc, etc. My crew was starving, and the man from The Famous Curry Bazaar was delightfully aggressive, so in we went. We shared lamb, mutter paneer, and a couple of other little dishes I don't quite remember. Boyfriend and I luckily avoided Slick Rick Steve's subpar recommendation and ended up here...Delicious food , lovely and friendly staff, very reasonable prices, and great drinks! House wine was amazing value, boyfriend loved his cobra (classic), and naan was the best we've had in London (and we've been to lots of Indian restaurants here thus far). The service is great and our server Rha really took care of us. The Famous Curry Bazaar is a pretty solid restaurant in the heart of Brick Lane. I went with about 15 other students from Uni, and the staff managed to handle our large party (in an incredibly small restaurant) with the utmost friendliness and professionalism. Pros: Great staff. Our waiter was super friendly. He hung out, cracked some jokes and was just all in all a great guy to be around. The food was unbelievable. Some of the best naan I've ever had and the dipping sauces were just out of this world. Cons: Small, and cramped, but not oppressive, at least. It took a really long time for our entrées to come out, but then again we had a really large group, so I'm not sure if this was typical. The worst part was that I ordered a starter of vegetable samosas and when they were delivered, I bit into one and got a mouthful of beef. As a vegetarian, I was less than pleased. I can say, however, that the staff was very friendly and professional about remedying this situation. But all in all, I would suggest the restaurant to anyone who wanted some amazing food, especially vegetable masala. read more

Brick is awash with curry restaurants and there seems to be no measure of quality and is a continuous dialogue from the restaurant workers offering you their establishment as the finest, etc etc. The famous curry bazaar got picked in advance due to offering Taste card discount. Decent-sized restaurant with open front windows. We shared mixed starters and poppadoms, none of which were memorable. Main for me was lamb tikka masala. Fake colouring and flavours. Tough lamb pieces. Portion size was fine. Naan was poor, mushroom rice had barely cooked mushrooms. Garlic mushroom starter wasn't big enough for a child. Only the saag paneer was good. Service was patchy, not providing glasses or filling up water and forgetting to bring items out. Yet friendly in banter. Overall, I would give this place a miss. I'm afraid, the only good things about this restaurant are that it's BYOB and they offer Taste card discount which made food half price. Which is what it's worth. read more

It breaks my heart to give this restaurant a 1/5, because some of the service was so sincere. But nonetheless, I have to. Between the three of us, we all had a lunch special of our own equipped with an appetizer, an entree and rice/naan. We had a vegetable curry I can't recall, the chana masala, and the vegetable korma with appetizers of pakoras and samosas. Let's start with the appetizers. The pakoras were not traditional at all. they instead looked like vegetable nuggets (chicken nuggets minus the meat) packed with an odd combination of vegetables. They seemed utterly spiceless and bland which was a huge disappointment. How could you get pakoras wrong? The samosas also weren't traditional. They were tiny, and looked and tasted like the premade samosas you can find in grocery store freezer aisles in the U.S. Again. not authentic at all. Unfortunately our entrees were even worse than our appetizers. The chana masala, though edible, lacked flavor and the chickpeas seemed undercooked. The vegetable curry too lacked flavor, and oddly enough was a tad sweet. But worst of all was the vegetable korma. Vegetable korma is supposed to be a creamy, savory gravy curry filled veggie goodness. What we received instead was a watery, soupy, sweet (what even?), bland dish. It was absolutely atrocious. Let alone the awful texture, why in the world would you make an Indian curry sweet, and sweet with no spices nonetheless? The only decent part of the meal was our naan. But how can you mess up naan? Anyway, this has got to be the worst south asian food I've ever tried in my life. I urge you to try another curry place on Brick Lane instead. read more

I went to Curry Bazaar recently, enticed by the offers of free drinks and the fact that it was the only crowded restaurant on Brick Lane that evening. I tried my old stand-by of "I'd like whatever is most delicious." My waiter seemed very confused by this request, and was reticent to make recommendations. At his suggestion, we ordered the chicken rezala which, incidentally, was pretty bland and not delicious. We also ordered the lamb ureebisi (which we chose ourselves), which was spicy and pretty delicious. Overall, the food was decent but not amazing. the pressure was minimal compared to the other Brick Lane curry joints, and they gave us free beer. They've also got a decent selection of vegetarian dishes if you're into that sort of thing. read more

The food was alright. I was enticed in by the fact that they threw in free popadoms and also a free naan for my daughter who couldn't handle a full meal on top of the free drinks. The waiter struggled when I asked what vegetables were in the vegetable curries and jsut repeated whatever vegetables I mentioned. The food came quickly and was very tasty, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was delicious. However when it came to paying the bill they were tediously slow.
