    Chicken Jalfrezy
    Dennis S.

We had a long day walking around London, took the Uber boat up the Thames, and got off at Tower of London. Walking more, we happened upon another great Indian restaurant, The India Monument 3 at 2 St. Mary at Hill. Downstairs, a beautifully designed, softly lit decor with Indian infusion. Much larger than expected, we were surprised to learn each person needed to order a main course, as opposed to our typical small plate ensemble, but it worked out well. My partner chose the salmon tikki (£14.95). The salmon was perfectly cooked, moist and tender, not spicy, but healthy and delicious. I chose the chicken jalfrezy (£13.95). Tender strips of breast chicken meat in a sauce of peppers, onions, tomato, and spices, including curry. It was a spicier dish, totally enjoyable, I'd get it again in a NY minute. The cheese and garlic naan (£3.95) was delicious and large, but included only a single naan, a high price in my opinion. Our server, Rajal, was attentive, helpful, and made the meal presentation smooth.

Overview: Great service (Ruhit was amazing!!), food was good as well, intimate atmosphere ---- I ordered the 2-course express lunch for £13.95 (£15.69 after VAT and 12.5% service charge so that total was $20.94). Chicken Tikka Masala: - delicious!! - on the sweeter side which is perfect for me - came with 7 chunks of chicken meat Lamb Tikka - good flavor and I like the mint sauce - but it is indeed "bite-sized" - bc of the smaller portion size I recommend getting another side option instead Naan and basmati rice is included along with a small little salad ---- Service was amazing! Ruhit was very kind and pulled the table out for me to sit as well as laid out the cloth napkin for me so that my clothes do not get dirty. At the end of the meal he offered a hot hand towel to clean up and there was a small piece of chocolate offered with the bill. ---- Other notes: - takeaway is available but NOT for the express lunch deal, must order for dine in - from ordering, the food took around 15-20 minutes - intimate setting, dim lighting and lots of seating ---- Overall: If you're looking for a nice intimate meal for a good price, this place is the way to go! Ruhit was awesome and made the whole experience a million times better. Next time I'm in London I'll be sure to stop by again!

Fantastic ambiance and service! The food was phenomenal so very different than the states. Prices are fair and servings were perfect! We opened for the lunch portion as we are traveling and can't take left overs. The husband recommends the Cobra beer to pair with the Indian, maybe just to try.

Wow. It has been a long time since we've been to a place that surprised us like The India 3 - Best in the City did. First off, the staff were all wonderful. We walked into their downstairs area, and the vibe was very chill while a little lively (and lovely). Dimly lit, music playing at a low volume, and a beautiful tiger painted on a wall. We were greeted immediately and in a friendly manner. We made reservations with Fork and were led to our table. First, the staff provided us with the sample of Papadom four different dipping trays including a diced vegetables tray, mango chutney, a spicy pickled limes dip, and a yogurt with mint and honey. So good! Wow! We ordered one main dish and one side per person. - Lamb Shank with a side of Pilaou rice which looks a bit like biryani rice. So good. One of the recommended dishes. - Butter Chicken with a side of rice. The hint of coconut and almond was yummy. - Channa Masala also with rice. My daughter loved it. - My son had the Lamb Biryani and it was a big serving of rice with a tasty lamb in sauce. A little different than we were expecting but still great. - Balti Masala Chicken, my wife ordered it and also loved it. All the dishes were just fantastic. We would recommend any of them. We were so stuffed, we actually had leftovers for every person in our group. Good portion sizes. The staff also provided us with some chocolates at the end. The staff were all just wonderful. They checked on us frequently, but not in a way that was at all intrusive. Everyone was very friendly, conversational, open to making recommendations, and just generally felt like people. Well trained and courteous. Even though we are part of the first sitting, they never rushed us into paying or leaving. Just super hospitable. Thank you to the team at The India 3. Our family highly recommends this place. It's been a long time since we have been this surprised, and that a place has overdeliver food, service, and audience versus expectations versus what we have seen in Google reviews, Yelp, and Fork feedback. Thank you for a wonderful meal and time. From the travelling Canadians with the kids that have egg and nut allergies.

I'm here for work & had to get some Indian. This place was delicious! The ambience was great. I ordered the chicken vindaloo which was perfectly spicy and melt in your mouth tender. I will definitely be back to try again!

First, I started with the mango lassi which was so fresh and naturally sweet. I loved the fennel seeds on top for added flavor. Such a great start to the meal. The chilli chicken was also a super flavorful app to share and the garlic naan was great as well. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Ruby, basmati rice, garlic naan, and crispy okra fries. Now I get the hype. The Chicken Ruby was rich, spicy, and packed with flavor, the naan was perfect for soaking up every bit of sauce, and the okra fries were so crunchy I couldn't stop eating them. This place absolutely lived up to its reputation. They also serve breakfast, and there's so much on the menu that I already plan to come back a few more times before I leave London.

So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes. Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. Booking Process: Made the booking on the phone only a few hours earlier and requested a nice table…read moreand when we arrived we were not disappointed. Location: The restaurant is a little out of the main road and it is just down after the Hakkasan which is next door so easy to find once you get on the right road. Decor & Lighting: Modern design with low light levels and separate bar area as well as a separate private dining room so great for events and private parties. Open Kitchen so you can see all the work. If you want to take photos in the evening you will need to take a light and/or flash. With large glass windows however i think light levels will be fine during the day. Ambience & Acoustics: No need to shout here and music is background and not overpowering. I am sure they can turn up the volume as desired should you want more of a party given i have seen they do live music events in the bar area. But during a normal dinner the level of background music was perfect so you can actually talk without needing to shout. Drinks: Many options here but as i do not drink i focus on the mocktails and they had a good selection and again the staff were able to adjust and amend any based on your taste. You also can get masala chai by the way for all the fans out there. We had the following: Passion Infusion - Asked for one to be more citrus and loved it. Very fresh and sweet but i really enjoyed it. Darbaar Smoothie - A nice red berry drink, thick but full of flavour, i got a hint of cinnamon but i like cinnamon so no complaints there. Food: There is a good selection of food but not too much that you cannot make you mind up. It does seem at first that there is a limited vegetarian selection but this is not the case as they are able to accommodate and make dishes off the menu. One of the party was vegetarian and did not go hungry. Portion size is perfect as any more and we would have wasted it. Worth sharing dishes so you can taste a wider selection. Food all arrived promptly and hot. We had the following: Papad and Chutneys - Great selection and mini papad making it a lot easier to share. Came with three chutneys, all were great and different to the usual. Corn Fritters - Veg option and small portion size but it was nice but not spicy Grill platter (to share) - We asked for the salmon to be substituted which was no issue and you get a selection of Panner, Lamb Sheekh, Murgh Malai Kebab as well as Tandoori Salmon which we had subbed out. The selection and food was fresh and clean. All tasty but mild with the exception of the Lamb Sheekh which had a little kick to it. Chutney served with the dish was just right. Nothing was left.... Nizami / Baby Aubergine - Again everyone liked the dish and something i have not tasted before, came in a sauce which i tried as i don't really like Aubergine (just the consistency i think) but i did enjoy the dish and great vegetarian option for a main course which is not on the menu. I noticed another review said it was caked in oil but i did not find this was the case when we visited. Cumin Roasted Potatoes - Cooked perfectly and a nice side dish. Kasturi Butter Chicken - Cooked well and tasted nice but i am not sure how you can really make a butter chicken taste much different as you get a similar taste in many good Indian restaurants but not too sweet and classic taste so you know what to expect. Rice / Garlic Nan and Roti all served cut and initially looks like a small portion but really fresh and not thick but plenty for us. Garlic nan was really nice and not overpowering. The rice was also really perfectly cooked and very aromatic. Could have eaten the rice just by itself. Desert - Not a large selection but plenty to choose from and they do specials of the day. I was lucky as the special was one of my favourites a Dark Chocolate Fondant with Cinnamon ice cream. Really lovely chocolate sauce inside and it was really good, even though i was full i could not resist and had to eat all of it. Single portion size but enough for a dessert. Highly recommend this dessert if you are a fan of chocolate. Staff / Service: Everyone was super friendly and attentive. There was only some confusion over a second drinks order but this was rectified with no fuss and it is important to know that any issues are dealt with. Head Waiter was always attentive and kept passing by and was always able to help and advice on dishes and happy to make amendments to a dish and even suggested and made off the menu items. We were also introduced to Abdul Yaseen who is the owner and chef. Which was a nice touch. Bill / Cost: We had three in our party and we shared dishes with only mocktails and no alcoholic drinks and the bill came to £50 per head (£150 total for three of us) which i think is reasonable for fine dining. But i would add another £20-40 for those drinking depending on how much is consumed. Conclusion: I would highly recommend a visit and its nice to be in a different area
