Nile Coffee Shop has honestly become one of my favorite places in downtown Mesa. The food and drinks are always great, but what really makes the place special is the people. The staff is genuinely kind, welcoming, and creates an atmosphere that feels comfortable the second you walk in. It never feels fake or corporate... it feels like a real community spot. I've also had the chance to talk with Michelle, the owner, and she's seriously awesome. You can tell she actually cares about the space she's built, the people who come in, and the community around it. That energy really carries over to the staff and the overall vibe of the shop. I also really appreciate how supportive and welcoming they are toward the LGBTQ+ community and music scene in Mesa. Places like this are important, and Nile Coffee Shop has absolutely become a staple of downtown Mesa because of it. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise for Mesa. Apparently the building used to be a movie theater from the 1920s; they've modernized it a bit, but you definitely get a nostalgic feel once you walk in. Impressive note: the entire menu is plant based. It was a bit of a surprise given costs and customer preferences, but it makes them stand out . There's a real vintage photo booth tucked in the back, film and all, which might be one of the last working ones in Arizona I heard. I also learnt the building doubles as a music venue hosting punk and hardcore shows. Grabbed my standard double shot, and was able to settle in and get work done with the not-to-loud coffee shop soundtrack. Really delightful find. Parking may be a bit challenging, but there's enough around a 2-3 minute walking distance so you should be good! read more

This place is nowhere near "new or trending", however it has been around for a while and for good reason. I've been to The Nile but only for music shows. I finally made my way in for the coffee shop! Took me long enough :) Per the other reviews, it's a love it or hate it experience for people. For me, I was happy with my experience there. It's a super cute spot with plenty of seating. I liked the music playing and it was a nice coffee shop vibe-- steady activity yet also chill. Plenty of people were meeting up there and others working on their laptops solo. We were meeting with our realtor and it was a good spot to fill out some paperwork with him and chat. The 2 baristas I interacted with were friendly and answered my questions about menu items. Drinks were made was speedy and bagel came out before burrito. I was told they were making the batch of vegan "steak" so I was given a heads up. All good things. For the drinks, I really liked them. The flavors all worked. The matcha latte was smooth and delicate. Not obnoxiously sweet like some coffee shops. I ordered the hazelnut cookie latte and it was better than I expected, sweet but again not overly sweet. Both with Oatmilk. I knew the Nile was a vegan place, and used to be called Volstead. I'm not vegan but always willing to try out vegan places. I ordered the breakfast sando w/ bagel and the breakfast burrito w/ steak. Both were good but I learned that I don't like the taste or consistency of vegan eggs, so that part I took off the bagel. However the hashbrown, vegan sausage patty and cheese remaining were yummy! Luckily the burrito didn't have the eggs in it and I'm glad it didn't. For me, the burrito needed a salsa or sauce inside. They have Cholula available on the side, but it needed more flavor in the burrito itself. I took the burrito home and reheated in toaster over for lunch, added some green tomatillo/avocado sauce and then it was perfect. I hope this downtown Mesa gem keeps going strong as a small, local place since there are so many Starbucks already no one really needs more of that. On the fence here because I really want to love The Nile. Let me start by saying we had an awesome experience with the time we got to spend inside. They had an event starting soon or it would've been longer. We got to take a few sets of photos in their super fun Photo Booth and just chill and talk a bit. The place has a really fun vibe. Pretty ample seating inside and some outside as well. Service was wonderful. I opted for a cold brew which is my typically go to. It is a 100% Vegan shop so my heavy whipping cream was out, but was able to get their cold foam option with vanilla. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the cold brew itself. It tasted a bit acidic to me. I didn't want to rate too low however from one drink when everything else was awesome. I have been frequenting Mesa more so I'll come again and update them with a couple different drink options. read more

I wanted to check out a new coffee shop today and decided to finally check out The Nile since I frequent this area. It's super cute on the inside, and there's even a vintage Photo Booth which was a big attraction for me, I love a good photo booth opportunity. There are pictures on the wall which I thought were their signature drinks and asked for one but I'm honestly not sure they were. The cashiers didn't really ask me any questions or make recommendations as this was my first time here. I ordered a white chocolate raspberry latte and I am a person that likes my coffee sweet so this missed the mark for me. I even asked the barista to add an extra pump of syrup for me which she happily obliged but it did not change the taste. Additionally, I ordered a blackberry danish which looked absolutely delish through the display case, but was not warmed so I decided to save it for home. I do think the customer service here could be improved and maybe with more understanding I could return and order something worthwhile. read more

One of my fav coffee/tea spot in downtown Mesa. They are a bit pricier than some of the others places but their product is better IMO. The atmosphere is chill and staff is polite. They also have a pretty extensive vegan friendly menu of food so you can grab a bite to eat (avocado toast, please) with your drink. read more

This coffee shop still rules! The renovations and awning upgrade really makes this place stand out. I have always loved their menu, especially during the winter months. I visited today and had my doggy with me. I ordered their holiday Orange Cardamom latte and a sage lemon scone. These were the perfect combination of bright and cozy. The service is top notch and the space inside was very welcoming. We stayed out on the patio area for a while before heading it. The Nile Coffee Shop is definitely a vibe. They are a 100% vegan shop, which I can appreciate. I am not personally vegan but do enjoy visiting them and they have a nice line up offerings! The offer great outdoor seating and indoors options. It's definitely a vibey spot an great place to meet a small group or solo spot. They have redone their space since I had visited last, which I do not find super functional, between the line, the seating, the ordering, and pastry case, it's a bit chaotic and not the most conducive for lines, but if you catch them at a slower time you wouldn't notice. They offer various coffee beverages, hot food, pastries and a cold case. I got the overnight oats, thathad peanut butter and berries. It was tasty and definitely covered me for two meals/snacks! I've come here three times because everyone says it's sooooo good. Nope I've come three times for the Nile to redeem its self and it never has. The staff aren't helpful and somewhat passive aggressive but that's not important. I spent $20 on a matcha and overnight oats. First I can't even taste the matcha, I didn't see any green when I got my drink. Then I got overnight oats and they were fucking soup. As nice of an environment it may be, there is absolutely no reason to go here. I hope they can do better or at the very least put actual matcha in my matcha latte. read more

In a little nook within downtown Mesa is this edgy, fun coffee shop that offers not only coffee and tea but local organic vegetables offered too! The service was good, it did take some time to get our drinks but that means they were made with care. FYI they use a dark roast and spicy chai so keep that in mind. They also have a fall menu available. I was not a huge fan of the sweet potato but that's because it isn't super sweet. The person who got that loved it though. I got a maple chai and it was yummy! I can Only talk about my pour over coffee which is amazing! Hot, tasty, and well done. On par with my pour overs in Hawaii (of course, not the same but as close as I can get). Today was a rough day to Nile. Went there to sit for a while, patronize the business & to get some work done. Arrived at 2:50 PM and asked the lady behind the counter what types of coffee they had. She said they had dark roast, and I asked them what the notes were or what it tasted like or anything. She and her partner both said it's "dark. That's what it taste like dark." They couldn't give me any more information so then I ordered a pour over because they told me the drip was empty. Then she asked me if I wanted a latte, and I said no I just want a drip. She looked at me like I was crazy. Charged me five bucks for an 8 ounce coffee and then I got everything situated at the table. Logged on my computer & I got all set up ... Then she announced to the room that they were closing in two minutes after everyone to leave. WtAF. If it's your normal closing time and I order a coffee and walk in with a backpack and everything else five minutes before you close instead of being money grabbers, give us the considerate heads up. If you're closing early because the Super Bowl is today then have a friggin note in your window. Ugh read more

First time at The Nile Coffee Shop did not disappoint! I love that it's in a historic building and has cool retro decor. The staff was very friendly and cordial, they even complimented my hair and look. They have the coolest old school photo booth, a great vibe and friendly vibe. A small corner stage is great for live music that they sometimes feature. It's a nice place to grab a beverage, sit relax and enjoy the surroundings, a place you want to linger. I have always driven past this place and I finally made it in on Wednesday around noon. There was only one person ahead of us in line so we had some time to look over the menu. The cashier was busy doing other things but she kindly greeted us as she walked by. We told her we needed a few more minutes and she told us to let her know when ready. I opted for a small Pistachio Rose Latte - off their special menu of the month and my sister had a small Strawberry Matcha latte - also off their special monthly menu. We waited a few minutes and they called us up. By this time, a couple had walked in and they were placing their orders. All the inside tables were taken so we waited by the door. They have complimentary cold water by this front area along with condiments and utensils. We sat outside on a bench and we people watched for a bit. The drinks were good. I really enjoyed my Pistachio latte as it had a creamy texture, a right amount of sweetness, and wasn't too strong. My sisters latte was a beautiful color before she mixed it and it tasted pretty good as you could really taste the Matcha. The cashier complimented us both on our Valentines day nails and she was friendly. Overall we had a good coffee run! I would come again. read more

This was my first time visiting! the shop is so cute, with a chill atmosphere i would love to come study here! I got a flavored latte and a concha while my friend got a ice tea. Food was okay. Not a lot of options and not very kid friendly. Speaking of kid friendly, they only have one high chair. Barista said they didn't have any ready-to-grab foods, and their front cooler was off, so nothing was cold. Hope it's non-perishable! Only two milk options almond and oat, no coconut milk which was sad. Coffee was fine. I got the cold brew, and it tasted real watered down, and bland. maybe their espresso is better? Honestly, I'll stick to my cold brew at home. Cheaper and actually tasty. And 75 cents for a squirt of flavor is actually crazy. No thanks. I think they forgot the sugar too which was no big deal. I added a little of a RAW sugar packet. Didn't take a crazy amount of time but it was not fast, at all... despite not being packed yet. Don't come if you're in a rush (we weren't, but for reference). I would hate to see the wait times for peak rush hour. I wouldn't order anything from here again. Too expensive and sub-par quality. Cool vibe if that's what you're into. This Sunday morning while I was up pretty early, I decided to give the Nile Coffee shop a try & cross my fingers there would be parking this early in the morning. Apparently there's a private lot across from the theater which is good to know for future reference. They have a small patio out front & they are dog friendly so I will definitely be back with my pupster. The vibe is pretty chill, I could definitely sit in here during the day & work when I get bored from sitting home. I got the Mc Blufin with vegan sausage, egg, potato, and cheese on an everything bagel. They had Cookie butter rolls from sugarloaf lane bakery. I'm not sure what was in it or what it was supposed to taste like but not a cookie but it was still so good. I've never had any of their baked goods but now I must find them.lol They were out of the french toast latte raspberry white chocolate mocha. It is a very cool and unique coffee shop. The Nile Theater and The Nile Coffee Shop host a wide array of live entertainment events from jazz bands to wrestling. There's plenty of street parking as well as a large lot behind the building. The interior is spacious and bright. I love the exposed brick wall and natural light. There's tons of seating inside and a few tables outside. There aren't many outlets, but the wifi is strong. I've tried their oat milk latte as well as the chia pudding parfait. The latte was well balanced. The chia pudding parfait was sweet and delicious. It came in a large cup filled with chia pudding, berries, granola, and agave. It was a generous portion. Absolutely love this coffee shop! Everything they offer is vegan! They don't have Soy milk for their coffee, but they do have Oat and Almond. They always have new seasonal flavors available for their craft coffee selections. My favorite from winter was the Ube latte with almond milk! Absolutely cozyyyy interior vibes with couches and plants. Create memories in their vintage photo booth and watch the camera mechanics on the video outside of the booth, or sit outside on their gated patio with your pup to enjoy the weather(: Their "chorizo" breakfast burrito is so dang good! It's roughly $5 for a latte and the burrito is the same. You can get it cold and have them warm it for you! Came here to work with my sister and stayed for a solid 30 minutes. Ordered food and a coffee, sat down and tried to join the wifi. The username and password they had posted on a sign was incorrect, and when I went up to the counter to ask about it, the girl said they "changed it and would bring over a piece of paper in a couple minutes." She proceeded to come over and bring us our food, but no WiFi password. After waiting 15 more minutes, I decided to ask the girls sitting behind me and got the password. I was getting my car oil changed at a local store and I had to kill about an hour. It was super hot outside and I decided to come to the Nile Coffee shop to grab a cup of coffee with a relaxing vibe. The music is always chill over here and it just puts you in a very good mood. The service as usual was very good and I got a white chocolate raspberry hot latte.
