Quality and variety of offerings, though mostly "American traditional" (burgers, meats, conventional salads) as they claim to use "local" sources as much as possible/practical. This place is great, full stop. My wife's family stopped here just before our wedding not realizing they were catering for us the next day. They have great service, great locally sourced food and their catering was flawless. Everyone at the wedding was impressed with the food. Really, I cannot stress how good this place is. We chose to eat here because they were ranked at the top of a Yelp reviews for gluten-free restaurants. We walked in the door at 6:00 as other people were obviously waiting. The very kind and fun person who greeted us took our name and asked us to return at 6:30. We were so pleased that she was able to seat us! The place was full, but the tables are all spread out enough that it really felt safe from a health (COVID) perspective. Sharon was our server and couldn't have been more friendly. She was very knowledgeable about gluten issues. She was engaging and fast. We saw all the people on the floor running at some point in the evening. We started the meal with drinks, and I had a Margarita, and my wife had red wine. For dinner, I had the special which included a delicious steak, prawns, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The steak was cooked medium rare to perfection. The prawns tasted fresh and were full of flavor. I loved their mashed potatoes. My wife had the Mesa Chicken, which she said was tasty. The staff could not have worked harder. We had to wait a while to be served and fed, but Sharon kept us informed and apologized more than she had too. We do not go into a restaurant to eat quickly. We enjoy taking our time to talk and relax. And the amount of time we had to wait was not very long at all. We are only passing through Cortez, but I would definitely return! read more

This is a case where all the raving reviews didn't met our expectations as customers. First of, although the place was half empty, we were have to wait for twenty minutes to be seated. Second of all, I ordered a Caesar salad without onion, but I got a salad with onions. I also ordered a grilled chicken breast. What I got was a half of a quarter of a chicken breast (!!$3.50). The burger was fine, my husband had no issues. The overall experience I'd described as "disappointment". Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Yum. I got the chicken and egg salad and a cup of carrot coconut soup for lunch. Everyone was very friendly, recommended great items from the menu, and everything tasted very fresh. You order at the counter in the back, help yourself to silverware and water and find a table. They give you a zoo animal in lieu of a table tent which I think is precious. My coworker got the pita sandwich with a side salad which he said was great and a big portion. Lovely place! I would definitely return. read more

We waited forever for our food, and once we got it, realized most things on the plate were cold( veggie, rice, fries, and my husband's burger just Luke warm). Only my chicken was hot. I one ever came by the table to see if it was ok. O one ever refilled our glasses. The hostess was our server too , but if they were short staffed they should have let us know before squeezing us in a corner of the bar area, and then forgetting about us. This is a favorite for many of us in Cortez. I have never ordered anything that hasn't been amazing. Their food is from scratch and always fresh. I especially love their breads. It's an intimate place with a cool vibe, and the staff are really good. They even have local foods for sale at the register. My coworker and I came here for lunch around 1:30pm. It was not too busy and it was seat yourself. The lighting was bright towards the front of the restaurant and a little darker towards the back. The menu had a few different categories so it took me a while to decide what to order. I finally decided on the Harissa Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($10.50) with french fries as a side. My coworker ordered the same thing but with a side salad. We walked to the back of the restaurant to order. There was a chalkboard that had their daily special as well, but you would need to walk to the back to read it. After we placed our order, they gave us a brush to put on our table so they could find our table to deliver the food. Some places used numbers to put on tables for staff to know where to deliver the food but this place used items like brushes. I found that interesting and a change of pace from what other restaurants did. We paid for our food and sat down. On the ticket they gave us, I noticed they wrote down the time that they took our order. I don't know why they wrote it down, but it just made me more conscious of how long the food took to come out. It took about 35 minutes before our food came to our table. I thought it was a long time to wait for food. The Harissa Grilled Chicken Sandwich was big and looked good. It was delicious and I was glad I chose that. The french fries were alright and I didn't think anything of them. The amount of food was just right so I wasn't food coma full and I wasn't hungry still. Overall, I thought this restaurant was good if you don't mind the wait for the food. read more

We were passing through and craved some real food. This place said they closed at 8 and we were so sad since it was 8:15, but we passed by and decided to pop in and they sat us anyway. My husband and I were on an 10 day road trip around western America's national parks and other sites. Read the reviews and it sounded charming. I loved the atmosphere. The service was great. My food was delicious. However, my husbands meal didn't quite come out as the menu read but he said it was still good. When my husband was at the register to pay the bill he wanted to use a bunch of one dollar bills he had. We were staying in Cortez for two nights (the RETRO INN is SO cool!), while in the Mesa Verde area. I like spontaneity while traveling, but I also like to plan to make sure I don't miss the good, local stuff. The Farm Bistro came up as a place not to miss on a number of sights. We went on our first night in Cortez and it did not disappoint! Great food, great staff. We live in a tourist town and felt the local vibe there. It is comfortable and relaxing. We spent the next day exploring Mesa Verde and returned to the Inn, a little worn out. We had prepared to have "Bed Picnics" and eat our own snacks. But well, we just decided that the Farm Bistro Salad options would be way better! And they were! Great staff, amazing server again! (Who gave us a great recommendation to take a little detour and check out the town of Deloris! Thank you!) The food was fresh and hand made. My family and I ordered to go because of COVID but it was amazing we had the chicken fried steak, chorizo mushrooms, wontons, chicken breast, mushroom pasta and a piece of carrot cake everything was great. They also sell masks, sauces, honeys, lotions, creams and purses inside the restaurant which I found really cute. In a word- FRESH. One of the best restaurants we went to on our cross country road trip from Dallas to Seattle. We were so deprived of fresh produce by the time we got here after driving through the Texas panhandle and were so grateful for the farm fresh greens and veggies we enjoyed here. Very cute spot with eclectic wooden chair seating, a counter to buy local produce, and a great menu. Had an amazing salad with a huge array of extremely fresh veggies on top. Loved the homemade dressing as well! Very fresh and flavorful green chile stew. Staff was very friendly and efficient. We loved how this place supports it's local farmers. My friends split the meatballs, but there really wasn't enough for two people portion wise. The highlight of the meal was the black bean burger.
