My boys are working on a church assignment and had to think of 10 places they are thankful for. Farm Kitchen made the list, so I feel compelled to write this. We have been coming to the farm kitchen for almost 2 years now, couple times a month on our way to visit our in-laws in Simpsonville. We love the food and we love the hard working women running the place. Lunch specials are our favorite. (PLEASE MORE SHREDDED BEEF SANDWICHES!). My youngest specifically wanted me to say that he is thankful for Miss AL. So shout out to her for always making us the best breakfast and burgers in the county and always being so good to us. I have travelled in for breakfast a few times now and when listen when I say this place is a diamond in the rough! Blink and you might miss it but if you're lucky enough to stop in you will leave full of delicious home cooked food! And with a smile on your face from the great service and environment. Our recent stop was for pancakes before school and some time to study vocabulary words...not a bad combo for a kid if you ask me. My only draw back is that parking is tight during certain times of the day, but if the lot is full it's because people know how delicious this place is!! 6/25/26 This is now my 3rd time coming here and every time I have the best experience. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is amazing. So friendly, kind and accommodating. I love the Christian community and the southern culture this restaurant brings. The ambiance is very causal yet welcoming and homely. If I didn't get weight, I would eat here everyday. The food is just so dang delicious! On this visit I had the chicken fried steak with white sauce, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I also got a side of their very hefty peanut butter cake. Definitely get yourself a piece if you're here's they are phenomenal! Everything is so good, you can't go wrong getting anything off their menu. Family run place where everyone pitches in and is so friendly! Service was fast especially since they made the food to order. We ate there two days in a row when we were staying in the area and both days everything was delicious! First day hubby and I both got the Farmers breakfast and everything was perfect! Stopped at the Farm Kitchen on our way to Lexington. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are going through Kentucky on I64. A couple of miles off the expressway through beautiful Kentucky rolling farm country. The food is all fresh off the nearby farms and home cooked. The people are friendly and the food is delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy. Huge fluffy biscuit drowned in a rich sausage gravy. Yummy! My husband had the farmers breakfast. The bacon was crispy and full of flavor, the eggs cooked exactly as he asked and fried potatoes crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. My younger two kids and I were in Shelbyville visiting our horses. I've heard good things about "The farm Kitchen." We arrived 15 minutes before closing for lunch(2pm). Informed owner, Daisy, our first time there. She informed us to take out time and no rush. We ordered 3 of their 1/3 lbs burgers with Fried potatoes pieces and green beans. The burgers were tasty, delicious and full of flavor. Everything was delicious. Even after 2pm People still walked in and allowed to place orders but they pretty much sold out of some of their sides but Burgers seemed to be the option. We plan on coming back for breakfast as it's made from scratch pancakes and biscuits and Gravy. Very reasonable for farm fresh farm to table food. read more

Seating is family style mostly so grab the end of a big one if it's open! Menu is short. Burgers, fries and breakfast stuff. All looks very fresh. You know that a place is good when the entire sheriff's department is having breakfast there. When we were getting out of the car, we were met by 2 deputies. They approached, looked us over, and said "You HAVE to get the grits. They are the best grits in the whole world." My friends had never had grits (they don't get out much), but I'm a connoisseur. The food was great, the service was great, and it was clear that the "Defund the Police" movement had not encroached on Shelbyville -- all the deputies were working on the biggest breakfasts on the menu board. They were clearly not interested in enforcing child labor laws, because the whole family was working the tables. Biscuits and gravy were awesome, the bacon was just the right crispiness. Pancakes were intimidatingly large. The grits were indeed the best I've ever had. Grits skeptics might question how you can make something as simple as corn grits tasty, but KFC ain't the only secret recipe in Kentucky. Only my wife, an inveterate oatmeal fan, was disappointed by the protein and carbs focused menu. If you ever pass a "Welcome to Kentucky" sign in your travels, keep on going til you get to Shelbyville, and park on the shoulder until the sun comes up again. When your done, you pay at the counter. All good signs when a place is busy, but yet the meal was lack luster. Why? Biscuits were almost warm as was the heavy gravy, the homefries also were not hot. The youngest little girl brought out our order and I gave her a hard time (joking) and she played right along with my nonsense. From the moment I was greeted at the door by the staff I was floored at the family vibe you get.
