Gaslight Diner knocked it out the park on all phases. Food + service + wait time + overall impressions. I have passed this place a million times and finally tried it. Encouraged by the positive reviews, it lived up to the expectations. All the food was hot, terrific, and nothing disappointed at all. Friendly laid back kind of place that is spaced out really well. All the customers were relaxed and chill. My food was ready when I got there. As far as parking in front of restaurants may be tricky since traffic can build up at the stop light, but I solved that by parking just a few buildings down from it. It made for a nice walk and easy exit. You betcha I will return and explore more of their menu.

Met a friend for lunch here recently and it started out well. Sat quickly, got drinks quickly, ordered the tater tots appetizer with beer cheese dip and they came out looking good but were still frozen on the inside. I called the server over and he took care of it pretty quickly and they took the appetizer off the bill which was very nice. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings and my friend ordered the fish sandwich with french fries. Both meals were adequate, but not knocked our socks off. We did have to keep hunting down our server a few times and it was a mildly busy Saturday so the routine should've been flowing a little better. I didn't hate this place but I think I expected more from it and I'm not sure I'll be back.

I'm learning I enjoy lunch options here more so than the breakfast. Gaslight Diner wowed us today with their BLT, bologna sandwich, chicken sandwich, rueben sandwich and biscuits and gravy. The fries are good but don't blink on the upgrade to a side salad or onion rings. If you're looking for summer cocktails they have you covered too. Our server was friendly and attentive. We waited a bit for our order but I believe we walked in when the crowd was larger. Their new patio tables were full! We sat inside and there's plenty of seating there as well, including bar seating. The space is a casual diner, just as it's named. Parking is available on the street and typically not as an issue to find.

Went for our Sunday after church brunch date. Food was very good. I chose a breakfast bowl, hubby had an omelet. Coffee was smooth & hot! Service was wonderful. Christy our server was so kind and helpful. We told her this was our 1st time visiting. She made a delicious ample sized mimosa, will try the pineapple version she recommended next time, maybe cranberry the next! Ambiance was family happy & still decorated for Christmas, as was the downtown J-town store front. So cute. Yes there are TV's, but not needed at that time of the day. At least the sound was off or turned down. We will be back another Sunday morning!

We've wanted to try Gaslight Diner for so long as J-Town residents but haven't had the timing work out for us until recently. We decided to give it a try for a brunch date! The dining room area is very cool and looks almost like an old retail store. (It may have been at one point.) Very spacious and open. It is a bit dark in spots though. Our server got with us quickly and she was very friendly. We got our soft drinks quickly while we were able to look at the menu. We decided on two breakfast bowls that sounded good and we also ordered a pancake and a homemade biscuit to taste them. Presentation of the food was very nice. The pancake was not super flavorful but the syrup saved it. The biscuit was absolutely great and our bowls were good. I did have to add salt to my Country Bowl as the Gravy didn't really give me that kick of flavor that I'd expect. My wife had the Farmhouse bowl and she really enjoyed it. I may do that one next time. Overall good experience and we'll be back for sure to try the lunch items!

A food was okay, the prices are outrageous. The service was good. However, we found it to be very expensive.

I don't expect an entire separate box of fries, but more than 10 would be nice- especially for $4! They were sure to tack on a $1 service charge as well, even though I was picking the food up. Burger Girl used to be a Louisville classic, but lately that's come to mean less "don't skip this if your life depends on it" and more "renowned for their awful food." As time goes on, I am honestly becoming more and more disappointed with Burger Girl. The point of a greasy spoon is to be cheap, quick, and filling, and Burger Girl misses on all of those fronts. For their prices I could go to a nicer restaurant with better food and a better experience. Honestly, as inflation continues to soar and quality continues to plummet, I find myself asking why I even bother going out, when I know I'll just be disappointed in the end. This might be the last straw for me, at least when it comes to Burger Girl. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

First off - I love this local gem, and I think it was just an odd/off night. It started with a scary trip to the ladies room, and it was just a mess. The first part of our evening (meeting friends) was great. Cocktails were tasty and the music was vibing. Fried pickles were AWESOME. At one point, the bartender changed the record and it became crazy loud - we literally couldn't hear the person 2 feet away speaking. A member of our party got up and asked the bartender if he could turn it down (asked politely), and was ignored. Literally ignored - bartender looked at my friend and the just walked away (and not to turn down the music). Next cocktail was AWFUL... food came out, and it was hot but nothing great; fries were oily. Churros were tough and overcooked as well. Our server (a younger woman) was attentive and friendly, and that was the highlight of our visit. She did turn down the music when we asked (and after another table I believe also asked). It wasn't a busy night, and I love the vinyl vibe and cool venue - we will come back and try again, but when 3 cocktails, an appetizer, and entree cost close to $100 before tip (for 2 - our friends were the same, so $200 for a table), you really need to be on point and provide solid service.

THIS IS HOW BREAKFAST IS DONE!…read more I'm always looking for the local flavor that stands out among the crowd and Breakfast AF (cool name btw), really held true to their brand. Situated an easy drive from downtown, and part of the Schnitzeltown are of Louisville, this apparently was a legacy deli counter back in the heyday and the original corner Hauck's deli sign is still visible. The expansion seems to include a few bars, a pizza joint, breakfast joint, and a revised deli with a smoker actively going at the end of the complex. And it is complex... we sat out front on the patio of the breakfast joint since we had the pup with us, but had I known how large the rear patio was, we would've chosen to sit back there away from the road traffic. I the menu is straightforward... the fare is on the higher side of breakfast pricing, but the portions are enormous and I easily made two meals off my sandwich and home fries. Speaking of which... get it... wich... okay fine. I chose the fried chicken/bacon/egg sandwich on Texas toast and it was... substantial. I added home fries, but honestly, the sandwich was a meal on and of itself. The two succulent chicken tenders exploded with flavor of a distinctive savoriness and that flavor peaked when I dipped them in maple syrup (they have a dispenser next to the coffee pots). The egg and bacon were perfectly cooked, complemented each other well, and the buttery toast just pulled it all together. My wife chose the shrimp-n-grits and that was just a flavor bomb with every bite. Savory grits with the slightly sweet shrimp, topped with smoked pork belly, and drizzled with a chili crisp oil that simply overwhelmed the tastebuds with every bite. It's a line order with pagers, so place your order, grab a table, and the coffee/water is self serve over across from order pickup. The back patio is open air, expansive, and spans the entirety of the multi space front buildings. There's even a soft surface children's playground behind the new deli. I was just absolutely astounded and definitely want to make it back to try their lunch fare next time I'm in town!
