I had spent the morning at nearby Highview Park and was really wanting a coffee. I prefer to support local businesses so I did a Yelp search for a coffee shop nearby. After driving by it because we didn't see a sign for a coffee shop, we turned around and found out is a part of High Foods. We were greeted upon entering and browsed the coffee side of the shop while the staff completed a food order. The inside of the shop has an almost industrial feel with several tables and some bench seating on one side. Several arcade games are available for those who enjoy them. The most impressive thing about our visit was the pride that Tammy, our server (and apparently the cook and barista!), took in her work. It was obvious that she loved the establishment and her job. After finding out it was my first visit, she went out of her way to share the menus and told me about local favorites. She was very outgoing, friendly, and willing to find suitable substitutions with the coffee menu that would accommodate my dietary needs. I was also thrilled when I learned that the cardboard sleeve on my coffee had artwork by children from a local elementary school! What a great way to get children involved in their community. Having already had lunch, I didn't get to try the food. But everything that I saw looked delicious. One patron was eating a BLT that made my mouth water! This was my first time here. Celebrate burger week. I will definitely come back. The guy on duty was awesome. It was at lunch. He handles everything to a t. It's a diner. You will love it. This is one of these places you need to try. Great for late eats. Great menu. If you are not careful you will drive right by but it's a great hole in the wall that will have you coming back. I was very disappointed with my experience at High Foods. The macaroni and cheese was horrible, it tasted like plain noodles with barely any flavor. Honestly, a box of Kraft tastes much better. The shrimp tasted like it had been fried in week-old grease, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were both undercooked and incredibly bland. Nothing was seasoned well, and the overall quality of the food was far below what I expected. To make matters worse, shortly after eating, the food had me running to the bathroom. Whether it was the grease or something else, I felt sick afterward, which made the experience even worse. Based on my experience, I won't be returning, and I definitely can't recommend this restaurant. read more

Had high expectations from all I read about this place but left with low impressions. The good is they are open late and inside the establishment is cool. The bad is the food was disappointing and some of it tastes weird or average at best. Nothing blew me away or made me want to try again. Not all marriages are made in heaven. read more

Saw reviews for this restaurant and thought I'd give a local business a try. Ordered wings, burger, fried fish, tenders, chicken sandwich, potato salad, deviled eggs, fries, onion rings, cabbage and Mac & cheese. The food took quite awhile, which was fine. The restaurant is small so you'd be best to order to go, unless you have a small group that will dine in. The food- everyone enjoyed their meals. The chicken may have been cooked just a tad too long and the deviled egg was slightly runny. Otherwise prop to the chef. Will definitely be back to try more items. read more

If you haven't been here you have to go!! We came in late with a group of about 15 without calling first and they still absolutely crushed it!! The food was out of this world! There was nothing that wasn't incredible. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating! The greens are the BEST greens I've ever had before! I really wanted this place to be good. I have seen it multiple times as I visited the arts center and finally came early to try out. I should have realized that there would be issues when I saw so many items on menu as sold out. My wife and I came for dinner and wanted to eat in. While they have seating, they don't cater to them. The few tables were stacked with stuff and when we cleared a spot, the table was sticky and had half drank bottles, etc. We ordered double burger and Philly cheese steak. They were ok, but very greasy. We also ordered curly fries but they were out but had krinkle cut. We wanted a drink but the soda machine was out of order and all they had were energy drinks. Did I mention the burger and cheese steak were greasy? My cheese steak looked like it was on a foot long hot dog bun. It was tasty but the grease made it so I could not pick up but had to use a fork. The two gentlemen there who cooked were very nice but the entire store needed a good cleaning. It is obvious they cater to door dash and not in store customers. They had zero a/c and some fans running. Between the grease, the lack of cleanliness and the fact they were out of drinks and fries, I can not recommend this restaurant. They are waiting on a beer license but tbh, even with the room next door, which was packed with gambling machines and stacked furniture, not sure how they would serve. Maybe door dashers don't mind the greasy food but continue on down the road to a pizza and beer joint if you want to sit. read more

We've been excited for this place to open for months. It's in Highview and next to their already established coffee shop. We discovered they were now open through the Burger Week app. I ordered online and picked up my order. I only had to wait about 5 minutes before my food was ready. My burger was super juicy and packed with flavor. The bacon was crispy. The fries had a tasty seasoning on them. The mac and cheese was too cheesy, and the cheese was chunky. It wasn't creamy or well combined. We came back the following week for breakfast. We both ordered the Sunday meal. The sausage and eggs were fantastic, but I was disappointed the hashbrowns were actually just a hashbrown patty. I was expecting the kind you get at Waffle House. We chose this place on our way through Kentucky because they were the only ones open before 9am! They are actually open 24/7! We are on a carnivore diet & allergic to gluten anyway so our lovely hostess (presume the owner) gave us a tailored meal. No extra charges, in fact taking off costs for things we couldn't eat. She could not have been sweeter! I had eggs & bacon that were perfection & hubs got a burger. Coffee was only fair & ambience looks like they might be renovating? The woman in the kitchen was so rude to every customer I saw come in the "restraunt". One couple came in before me and one person picked up an order and it took over an hour to get my food. It was sticky from the floor to the chairs to the tables. No drinks. High Foods in Louisville is a new restaurant in Highview that specializes on making sure the customer gets whatever they want their way. Me and my friends came here for burger week and were greeted by the owner and his warm personality and willingness to tell us to go crazy with our selections was just amazing. We all got burgers and I customized mine with bacon and onion rings and BBQ sauce on Texas toast with curly fries.. this is by far one of the best burgers and fries I've had in a long time. So they're up charging for no reason and we didn't even get anything for the inconvenience. We tried High foods today. My husband had the chicken sandwich and curly fries. The chicken sandwich was huge and so flavorful, just a tad overcooked but that happens. The curly fries were very good. My son had the chicken tenders and Mac n cheese. He said everything was really good but again the chicken was a tad overcooked. I had the cheeseburger on Texas toast, cabbage, and greens. The burger was great, toppings super fresh and they use the good pickles. If you're a pickle lover then you know what I'm talking about. Only suggestion is to grill the toast a little more. The cabbage and greens were great and had what I think was ham hock in them. We will definitely add this restaurant to our rotation! It's a great addition to the Highview area. We ordered take out and my husband said the restaurant was busy and the staff were really nice. I would've given 5 stars if the chicken wasn't a little overcooked. read more
