Before I could even finish the second half of my sandwich, a fly landed on it, and I had to throw it away. The restaurant was noticeably dirty and uncomfortably warm. We asked for the ceiling fans to be turned on, but it took quite a while before someone was able to find the switch. The locks on the women's restroom stalls didn't work, and the restaurant had also run out of ice for drinks. I'm not sure if the restaurant has changed ownership, if management was absent, or if this was simply an off day, but the experience was dramatically different from the positive visits we've had in the past. This was our first visit and we were able to secure 5 Trace Tour tickets for our group, which worked out perfectly since two others opted not to go on a tour (they had craft cocktails in the bar area! Win-win). The tour gave a nice overview of the history and the bourbon process. I plan to take one of their other tours in the future for more in-depth knowledge. The tour is free and you get a tasting of 4 of their bourbons at the end (plus a piece of their amazing chocolate.) The gift shop has everything you could possibly want related to BT. They also have nice selection of bourbons available for purchase that I'm not able to easily find in PA. On the day we visited they were giving out samples of their new RTD bourbon lemonade and their bourbon cream with root beer. Needless to say, we purchased all three of these items! We did grab lunch at the John Carlise café on-site. It was delicious and affordable. We had the Bluegrass Melt which was loaded with meat and came with chips. Their chocolate chip cookies are also quite tasty. I recommend grabbing a bite to eat here. Overall, I was very impressed with the organization of the BT tourist operations. They efficiently moved hundreds of people through quickly, while still creating a welcoming place. The friendliness of all the staff is commendable. We will return in the future!

I usually skip breakfast or have a protein shake, but a good American breakfast sounded good on the frigid cold morning. There is nothing more America than a Waffle House breakfast. When I arrived, I chose a booth by the window. It was just me and one other customer in the diner. I was offered a quick cup of coffee to start my waking up process. Love Waffle House coffee. After I enjoyed a few sips of coffee I ordered up an All Star breakfast which includes scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle and some grits. Way plenty to break your fast. My order was up fast. Everything tasted delicious. They have breakfast diner food down to a fine science. Simple but good. Nothing fancy, just good tasting food. The service was friendly and down-home feeling. I could tell she was tired from working overtime during this snow storm, but that didn't stop her from being friendly and attentive to the task at hand. I don't know about you, but I appreciate that kind of work ethic. Overall my experience was positive today. Nothing to complain about. I'd come back to this location.

It's sad how many places serve sad looking hashbrowns that are barely cooked and soggy for twice the price. This was not the case. But what set Waffle House apart was the service. Honestly, I felt like I was part of the family there. The waitresses, cook, cashier, etc. Everyone said hi to me and asked me how I was doing. They checked in with me to make sure everything tasted good. I'm a fan of diners! The good ones, the waitress will do that, but that's about it. Here, everyone did.
