If you're in the mood for some good, comforting country eats, look no further. My MIL has all her meds at Carolina Apothecary (need to write a not very favorable review on them later), so we've been checking out places to have lunch in Reidsville. She's been going to Farmers Table for years and wanted me to try it so we went for lunch on a Wednesday around 11:45. Got a table right away but within fifteen minutes they were full. Appeared to be many regulars enjoying their meals and making small talk with the very friendly staff. I went with the chopped steak with grilled onions, hush puppies, green beans and Mac and cheese. The meat was very tender and well seasoned. The green beans were canned but decent but I didn't love the Mac and cheese. The puppies were great! My MIL had the fried pork tenderloin with black eyed peas and mustard greens. Biscuit and cornbread came with it and were very good as well. I got a side of the brown gravy and loved it, just like my aunt Freda used to make! We enjoyed our lunch and will definitely return. Loved the sign on the front door advising not to enter with muddy shoes!

Note the line item "Service Charge" of $0.28. Clearly a charge and not a discount

Sadly, the menu reads much more exciting than the food ultimately tastes. I have eaten here several times because I genuinely thought I just had not found the right dish yet. Everything looks fresh and presentable, but the execution stops at visual appeal. The BBQ chicken flatbread was decent, but unfortunately, most of the other items I ordered across several visits were discarded after only a few bites. From a culinary standpoint, the biggest issue is the lack of flavor development. The egg salad and chicken salad needed more texture and depth. Celery should not be in every "salad". It makes them all taste the same especially since there was no flavor character that set them apart. The flatbreads looked attractive and were plated nicely, but the flavors felt muted and one-dimensional. Every bite should hit a little different, within the flavor profile offered. I am from the Deep South, so I naturally expect a bolder flavor scope and more personality in dishes like chicken salad, egg salad, barbecue, turkey and flatbreads. This may simply be a difference in culinary style, but after several visits, the food profile for this spot feels tragically bland rather than clean or delicately seasoned. The restaurant has a pleasant foundation, but the menu needs more dimension--- add some character-- bolder bread options, seasoning in the base meat selection, texture with cheese, bacon, garlic, blue cheese crumbles, candied pecans, grilled onions, multigrain flavor packed bread, grilling toast or chicken for crispy textures... these are basics.

Start the meal off right with some Patatas Bravas. Double-fried potatoes with a tasty salsa and garlic aioli. Those went by quick! It's savory with a hint of spice. For the dinner service entrees, the real winner is the Fish and Chips. It's a huge battered haddock fillet over a bed of fries, accompanied by cabbage slaw and tartar sauce. Don't forget the malt vinegar to pair with the fries! The haddock was done perfectly, as it was both crispy and juicy. It was filling, but not over the top. Quality over quantity for sure. The chicken tikka masala is also a nice touch to the menu. A bit different from the rest, but not overly left of field. It was spiced to be flavorful but not overpowering. The chicken was nice and tender. The herb rice was decent, but still paired well as a sidekick to the tikka masala. Feeling desserts? Leave some space for the tuxedo cake. It's very rich and a solid bite to close out the meal. Shoutout to the wonderful waitress who executed everything without an issue. Reservations are recommended. I'll certainly be back.
