While browsing, I had a great conversation with a fellow dog mom about the grooming options, both self-service and full-service, as well as the impressive variety of food brands available. The highlight of our visit was meeting the owner. Her passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive shopping experience truly sealed the deal for me. It's clear that she genuinely values her customers and their pets. The store offers several perks that make it stand out: they match online prices from other retailers, provide curbside assistance by bringing purchases to your vehicle, and offer a free membership program with valuable discounts. I also noticed that many of their prices are slightly lower than those of the larger pet store chains. I highly recommend this location. I'm confident your experience will be just as welcoming, friendly, and positive as ours was. As for Brooks, he had an absolute blast! I'm writing this review to share a very upsetting experience we had with the grooming service at…read morePetSmart in Bowie on September 6, 2025. We dropped off our dog Leo at 7 am for a grooming appointment. After hours with no update, we returned around 11 am. When we arrived, two groomers were examining him and said he wasn't ready yet. A few minutes later, one of them mentioned something might've gotten into his eye. They had tried flushing it, but he still wouldn't open it. Leo was then taken to the adjoining veterinary clinic for an exam. The vet used a green dye test and found that his cornea had been burned. After reviewing the grooming products used, she discovered that one of them wasn't water-based and should never have been used near the eyes. Leo was prescribed several medications to treat the injury. This experience has been heartbreaking. Leo is not just a pet--he's a cherished member of our family. Seeing him in pain and knowing this could have been prevented has been devastating. We're sharing this to help other pet owners make informed decisions and to raise awareness about the risks involved. Please be cautious when choosing grooming services. We wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I let them know that my dog was matted, and they shaved him down so that you can see some pink. The clippers they used made him inch and he had sores on parts of his body. Sometimes, there was never an issue with Petco in the area. The picture you see was his last grooming at Petco. I may go back to Bowie, but they need to work on customer service. Every once in a while, there's an employee at the counter.

Then a few months later, I saw that the building had been split in two, and Dollar Tree took over one side. I didn't expect a pet shop to take over the other half later on, given the much smaller size... but here we are! On my way back from some nearby business, I decided to drop in before they closed. The place is bright like most pet stores are, and it is split into 4 aisles -- mainly for dogs and cats. But, they have aquarium supplies and other miscellaneous things. I saw a small section of fish and an adorable sleeping ferret in the back! They didn't have the brand of cat food that I currently get, but what they do have is neatly organized and I could see myself becoming a regular for fish-related things or backups. It could be because they're new, but their aquarium section is so CLEAN! I have no concerns about the health of those fish. I also had a great time chatting with the staff, asking questions, talking about my experiences, listening to his answers... it was all very pleasant. Being a part of Greenway Center, there's plenty of parking... but sometimes I have to park further away than others, especially at peak times. If I need cat food or litter, that's usually pretty easy to grab and go. There have been a few times where there has only been one register open, and when that happens it can get long. But thankfully that's rare! Now, what I do see as a recurring thing is that no one is usually around in the aquarium section -- even in the middle of the day. I recall wait times up to 20 minutes to get some fish! If anything, I hope they work on that. Otherwise, for your pet needs, PetSmart should have what you're looking for.

This review is for the grooming salon and Sharelle…read more I've been taking my dog Chloe to this location for grooming, and her vet visits since she was gifted to me almost 9 years ago and my experiences have almost always been pleasant and I'm always pleased with how well she's groomed. It can take awhile sometimes but it is worth it IMO. I now know to make express appointments because Chloe has separation anxiety and can have seizures if she gets too upset. Sharelle is the BEST groomer although she's typically booked out months in advance. They are always very careful with Chloe and Sharelle picks out the cutest bows! There are other locations that are now closer to where I live but I still and will continue to go back to this location for grooming. Thanks Sharelle!

Recently, due to the closure of the Upper Marlboro location, I began shopping at the Brandywine location and for the first time ever after spending thousands of dollars over the years, I returned an item that cost less than $25. To my surprise, I was the subject of a profanity laced diatribe from a female owner of the store who excoriated me for making the wrong purchase which required her to a do what she called " a time consuming credit card refund". I began shopping at R&D Cross when the southern part of Upper Marlboro had one fast food restaurant and you saw store employees at church or the grocery store. That period has passed. What remains is my insistence that I treat others with respect and be treated the same way. Regrettably, I shall never make another R&D Cross purchase.
