Also a nice place to get opinions on products and practice swaddling babies, talk about different bottle options, support for breastfeeding, essentials to have in the house for when baby comes (for example a rectal thermometer was not on our radar as something to purchase). It's also nice to get to know them because they provide birth and postpartum doula services which can be really nice to have especially if you don't have family in the Omaha area. I did go back for a chiropractor appointment later and did not like that experience as much (I think chiropractic care just freaks me out in general with all the cracking and potential for injury). They do have tea and a nice waiting area for patients.

I liked my chiropractor but couldn't get over the frustration with billing so I worked with my insurance to find a different provider. I also stopped my weekly massages during COVID as it didn't seem the pandemic was a concern to most of the staff - the lobby was usually busy with no protocol and masks were: not on, not on properly, or not enforced. Their response to COVID and staff safety also seemed to cause a mass exodus of massage therapists in the late Spring of 2020. I prefer the Papillion location but would often go to Center St. for more availability. The experience didn't vary too much between location. I've slowly started back for massage now that I'm vaccinated. If the insurance billing improved, I'd start PT/Chiro again - but right now it's not worth the headache. On a more positive note: I enjoyed the yoga classes they offered at Papillion for a short while, too. Hope those eventually come back! And, finally, my favorite part of Essentials: Natalie! She's like my Norm in Cheers :) Natalie is knowledgeable, great with scheduling - she just makes visiting the office a better day! I seemed to have the fewest issues with insurance billing if she handled the appt check-in (some of the front desk staff seem to be HS/after school job, which is fine - but they don't seem as knowledgeable about the insurance process).

I looked at a few yoga classes around my hotel and landed on "community acupuncture" as my self care of choice today. This was my first acupuncture experience and I enjoyed it. I ended up being the only person for community acupuncture but I think with other people, it still would have been a great introduction. Janice took amazing care of me (she mentioned the new moon which was something I was thinking about). She took great care of me and I truly enjoyed this experience of reflecting and some release (i shed a few tears during the "session") I came feeling chaotic and worried, I left feeling more centered and cared for. If youre new to acupuncture, I would recommend Janice and the community acupuncture. It's all going to be okay. Now put some needles in my ears.

I purchased a Groupon a while back for 4 yoga classes at this studio. I belong to another studio here in Omaha, but what attracted me was the aerial yoga classes they offered. I've done aerial yoga before, but never in Omaha and I was excited to see it offered here! The space is super clean and serene feeling. You feel like you're in a meditation area, as opposed to a gym, which I love. Big glass windows adorn one wall, so when you practice, you're staring out downtown. Exposed brick walls give the space a modern, yet cozy feeling. The studio itself a pretty small space -- for aerial yoga, only four people can sign up per class. I really liked this though ... it created an environment where we were all encouraging one another and laughing as we moved through poses. Aerial yoga can be challenging, and so having fun with it is important! Karen is the instructor for aerial yoga and she is great. Her voice is super calm and relaxing, and she's really great at helping you through the poses, regardless of how well you can do each one. I leave every class energized, but also sore... it's definitely a workout for your upper body!! There's free parking, which is awesome -- especially downtown. After class, I usually pop over to the new cute coffee shop next door for a coffee or a quick bite to eat. It's all connected, and feels very welcoming. Natural Therapy also offers a lot of other services besides yoga, and after visiting the studio and interacting with the employees, I'd be interested to see what else they do! The only con I have is that for aerial classes, you have to call in advance to sign up. I wish you could do this online, because I've spent a lot of time, calling and calling and calling when no one answers. I've had to leave voicemails (that don't always get returned), and sometimes it becomes a hassle to sign up for class. Other than that though... definitely check this place out!

This is a small Y embedded in the new Buena Vista High School (opened 2023). It's in the southwest corner of the building, just to the left of the main school entrance. It's best if you enter from L Street then stay to the left. They don't seem to be overrun by students, and there is dedicated parking. There are no small children running around. The intimate, welcoming environment attracts people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, and abilities. What this location doesn't have: CROWDS, a pool, fresh towels, kids activities, childcare, or large classes. No spinning, Tai Chi, aerobics, Tai Kwan Do, or basketball. No late evening hours. Your memberhip lets you go to other Y locations to access those things if you want them. What this location does have: weights, a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, semiprivate showers, Egym weight machines, and easy access to friendly staff for advice. They have a few small-group classes aimed at general health and fitness. The Egym machines are the big deal here; each machine helps you exercise a particular part of your body. The Egym system automatically adjusts each machine to fit your body and fitness level, so you don't have to carry around a clipboard or remember how to make all of the adjustments. A video screen shows you how far and how fast to move so you can exercise without hurting yourself. It's really quite easy and non-intimidating. The YMCA membership price is a little more expensive than basic memberhip at gyms like Blue Moon or Planet Fitness. But the money goes to a good cause, and you can count on them being ethical. They won't keep charging your credit card if you decide to cancel. As with any gym, I won't be posting interior photos out of respect for the other customers, but you can find photos on the Facebook page or on the Metro YMCA website.
