Overall excellent care for a SNF. So many wonderful people working here who were incredibly kind to my mom. I won't lie, there were those who were sub par, too, but few. Fortunately, my mom has a very vocal daughter, so the extra set of eyes and voice helped. But I would refer Redwood over all other local places she's stayed to occasionally rehab. Notably, Julie was invaluable in helping us illuminate an injury missed by the hospital and address it. Beyond that, she was simply an awesome human. Special nods to some of the nurses and CNA's who went the extra mile to make my mom feel cared for and respected: Tan, Teresa, Luz, & Sylvia. (More names to mention in coming updates) read more

My 88 year old father was there (snf) for longer than he should have been due to lack of care. Understaffed for sure. I would like to see video that my father actually was able to walk 100 feet as he was bedridden and extremely weak. He should not have been exerting himself whatsoever since he had chf. He was neglected often and got reported from Jenny for taking his diaper off and having an accident. He was on laxatives for Pete sake. Got discharged shortly after being reported of course. Shame on you Jenny!!! They claimed he was able to walk that far and I am certain it's bs. Upon notice of his discharge date, I was given zero guidance to where he should be. Zero suggestions. I transfered Dad to a private board and care where he got very well taken care of by Rosalinda with Bed of Roses. My father was dying and there were zero attempts to find out the root cause of his weakness. Every single employee claimed it was because he needed exercise. All they did was shorten his life that much more. When he would stand up his BP would drop dangerously low. And was only found just before I had radiant hospice evaluate him 6 days before discharge.....this happened literally minutes before hospice arrived which was very suspiciously coincidental since they knew when they were arriving. His shortness of breath was obvious just sitting up and rolling over. They kept making him do things that worsened his condition. Nobody would listen to him. Nobody would get him the help he was begging for.The staff did him a disservice. Their medical Dr wasn't helpful! I never heard from their Dr once. My Dad left in worse shape than he arrived. It was an inhumane experience. I got along with most of the staff even though nobody was on the same page EVER. Often I would call to speak to the assigned nurse, she was busy so I was told she would call me back and never received a return phone call. I whole heartedly could not and would not recommend Redwood to my worst enemy. Sadly, he passed a week after they discharged him. I regret him going there so much that I could never refer anyone there. Keep your elders out of there, beware of this facility. Plus they charge $617 a day, not worth even half that. One gal had clocked out for a break but was still sitting in the hall when Dad had pooped in his diaper. Gal said in other words it's not her problem to change it since she had "already clocked out". So he needed to sit in his dirty diaper for 30 minutes until she returned from her break. He already had a rash from prior neglect. Husband changed it since she wasnt willing to, nor did she offer to get someone who would. Hubby noticed he wasn't thoroughly cleaned prior as there was crusty shit stuck to him. That was absolutely not from his fresh poop. Unacceptable and cruel to not have gotten someone else to do so. If she is on break, there should have been another employee available to do so. The gal Jenny had a horrible attitude and it was clear (crystal clear) she did not want to take care of my father. Then don't work in this field. Her heart was apparent that it was not in the job. She told me this place isn't working for him. I asked what do you suggest? She said she didn't know. I asked if a different facility would be better, memory care, or home? Again....zero direction which is so unhelpful. I felt so defeated and they didn't care for him as best as they should or could have. Very disappointing and disheartening. Do your loved one a favor and steer clear, far far away from this place. I got covid 3 days before his discharge date.and wasn't willing to risk getting my father or anyone else sick. I kept getting called requesting me to come in to sign even after they knew I was sick, highly contagious with covid. I said "I don't know what to tell you Julie, I'm sick and it's a virus". All they cared about was getting me in there to sign stating I would pay $617 a day. The pressure that week from them was unreal. The lack of compassion and nurses being put out when asked for help was disheartening. The audacity of them to follow up for feedback. I really should have given the caller a piece of my mind. But I refrained. I told them he was sore from having to move. The caller made it a point to call back to ask if hospice transported him. They did by ambulance. The caller was only worried about the liability obviously, missed my point. Dad was sore from small activity being moved to a gurney to be transported.Nurses eye rolls and acting put out when asked for something were extremely rude and unprofessional. My Dad would call asking for another blanket or ice water. He didn't have any water. He would call asking me to come change his diaper. Do better Redwood Terrace read more

I was at Redwood Terrace for nearly 8 weeks in 2022 after being diagnosed with Post Polio Syndrome and other issues. I absolutely loved the staff who were friendly, professional, and extremely caring. The on-site physical therapy was great, and the therapists had a tremendous amount of patience with me as I was not an easy patient. My legs were basically useless. They started my very long road of recovery, and today, I am walking with a walker for short distances. I want to sincerely thank the entire staff at Redwood Terrace. I also must applaud Redwood for their outstanding menu selections and food quality. I know this commendation is a bit late, but I really must. My mom was recently transferred here from Palomar Hospital (last Sunday 23rd). I'm always skeptical of senior rehab facilities because they seem to be old, need updating workers don't seem to care about patients. That said, my family and I are very happy with the care my mom has received thus far. Her nurses; Liberty and Joreen, CNAs; Aracelia and Catalina have been very attentive and look after her as if she's their own mother. I apologize for forgetting other staff members' names that have taken care of her. Everyone here is caring and I feel relieved that my mom is well taken care of, especially when we're not there. read more

I don't know what all the glowing reviews are about. Prospective residents looking for 'security' fork out hundreds of thousands of dollars of UPFRONT fees for the 'privilege' of living in this prison. In addition to this, they still have to pay thousands of dollars each month to Redwood. Do the math and it makes no sense. Moreover, there's a waiting list of desperate elderly willing to pay them another 'entrance fee' for your dwelling, so they are eager to find reasons to force you out. You'd be much better to buy a little condo and have a careworker. You have no equity when you move out of Redwood because you gave it all to them when you moved in! read more

I think this is a great place, if you don't mind the fact that they don't pick up their phone or return your phone calls! Also, if you are putting your elderly person on their bus - watch out! My mom has been a resident of Redwood Terrace for 10 years. Moving there was the best decision she made. She is close to us. There are committees that she participates in. She does thai chi, balance training, and swims in their heated pool. The staff are friendly, patient and always there to help. My mom will be 96 soon. I truly believe because of the loving and caring environment has been a factor in her long life and the quality of life. I was in for rehabilitation and I would give it a 5-star rating. During my stay, the entire staff treated me professionally and very caring. I stayed for over a month, and was not eager to leave due to the wonderful and caring staff. The entire place is spotless, odorless, and the food is served hot, not to mention the wide variety. Admittedly, I have high standards and never once was I disappointed. I am so impressed, I am seriously considering moving into the independent living area of Redwood Terrace. The lack of care givers in the nursing side is less then desirable. Every time I am with my mom it takes forever for someone to respond to the buzzer when she needs help. Not what I expected for the money we pay which is crazy. Since new management has taken over the place has changed and the quality has gone down hill. Poor management!! I would look else where for a better updated facility that has better security for your loved ones. read more

Wow, the customer service at Redwood Terrace has been absolutely amazing. My mother-in-law moved in here and it was the best experience for her and for our family. The process of her having to sell her house and move into redwood was seamless. Gentle Transitions was such a great company to have come help us with the move. They are wonderful and friendly. I have visited a friend who was convalescing at Redwood Terrace. I have been super impressed with all interactions with nurses and all staff. They are outstanding - way beyond expectations. We toured the medical side of Redwood Terrace because my Dad needs rehab after a hospital stay. The facility is clean, the residents appear happy and the staff was happy. They have a full time nursing staff and they knew all of their patients well. My Dad was in tears about the thought of rehab. After hearing that he will have his own room, it is clean and quiet, and he can hopefully be there for a week - 2 weeks, he is now ready. read more

I recently spent a short term rehab in the skilled nursing facility here after back surgery. Dr. Salada and her staff could not have been more caring and understanding on a 24/7 basis! My needs were well taken care of and the therapy was outstanding. read more

My Mom is in the assisted living section and she receives excellent care. Very friendly nurses and very responsive to her needs. I would recommend Redwood Terrace to anyone. Although the appearance of the buildings are slightly dated, they more then make up for it in their care and friendliness. read more

My uncle lived at Redwood Terrace and had a wonderful apartment that was larger then most apartments we had seen when he was looking for a place to live. My uncle's health deteriorated over the last few months and I had to take over his affairs. Their financial director (Jonathan) was very helpful and understanding and delayed money owed (with no late fee!) while I took control of his finances. Their social worker Sandy even went to the store to purchase clothes for my uncle! (I live several hundred miles away). Then while I was clearing out my uncles apartment their marketing director (Kay) offered much needed advice on movers and also on their ability to take care of items left in the apartment. Everyone was very helpful during trying times including all of the nurses I met while visiting. Even the the head of their maintenance assisted in bringing boxes and offered bags to remove some of the items out of the apartment after my uncle passed away. Another wonderful thing about Redwood Terrace is that they have all types of care from independent living all the way to nursing/hospice areas. Kudos to the people and the passion they have about the care for the senior community they support!! read more

An older place, but they really do try to take care of their residents. I have had a bad encounter with one staff member, but it was a very busy day that maybe she didn't realize her demeanor was offensive. The place is tucked away in North Escondido, so it is a quiet area. read more
