WORST COMPANY AND CONSTRUCTION EVER. We had the rebuild the last portion of our fence and gate, along with two other neighbors' complete fence construction. They were very rude about wearing masks, did not want to communicate their plan or timeline with us (a neighbor hired them to repair the fence we shared). They did not follow the design they quoted us on the quote (installed 4x4 cap instead of the 6x6 on the quote to follow HOA guidelines, the latice installed was a good inch larger openings than previously installed, they used wood posts instead of steel) and when we brought all of this up we were met with resistance until they finally agreed to come out and only replace the 4x4 cap but argued about the latice and posts. We also asked if they could fix the gate that they installed that wouldn't stay open without slamming shut because the post was not plum. When we questioned the plumness of the post they said "it'll never be perfect and it's basically plum". It was obvious to the eye, without a leveler. When they came back out to repair the cap and paint the fence, they left a complete mess and even a more poorly hung gate that wouldn't even close. Before the installer left, I had to have him wipe and clean all of the hinges because he sloppily painted on them instead of removing them prior to painting and installing after paint was dry. We had them come back out a third time to repair the gate to fix the hinges that were uneven and preventing the gate from staying open without slamming shut, and they left it basically in the same condition. When I showed the lead the painted ground and planter, he said "ya they should have turned up the soil a bit to hide the paint splatter and not sure what to do about that planter rock. Sorry." Very disappointed and we now have to find and pay another company to repair the horrendous and messy work this company did. Stay away and spare yourself the headache. We have them fair chances to fix their work and redeem themselves but unfortunately they just couldn't. read more

The Fence Dr doesn't usually only do only 2 front gates but since they live locally in the RSD area & we're highly recommended by many RSD residents in the RSD Neighborhood News and Chit Chat FB site, the father and son business came out right away to see our residence, gave us a quote and completed the work within a week of approval. Both gates were installed in 1/2 day and look great‼Prices are comparable to Alpine Fence and Vinyl Fence Company. They were definitely more responsive as other places only gave quotes by phone and were 2 weeks to a month to come out to residence and even longer to schedule work to be completed. Apache Fence Company came to residence, gave quote, said they would drop off samples and we never heard from or saw them again even after contacting them several times. We had a small issue with electrical box not being flush with fence closest to from door and the son came out the next day, fixed the issue and sent us a video with the problem being fixed. read more

In April 2016, We got several bids to replace our old fence. The fence Dr came in about the same maybe slightly under the others but his good yelp reviews helped make our decision. They were booked out a couple months but they tore down and put up our very long fence and 2 new gates in one day. the fence looked great. The gate was installed the wrong way but the workers came right back and adjusted it to swing out. The pully handle kept getting stuck so they came back right away to adjust it. Unfortunately the handle to open the gate completely broke this month so Im not sure if it is strong enough for such a large heaving gate. I will contact the Fence Dr to see if they can upgrade / repair it. I still would recommend them even with the gate issue. read more

We had a fence installed about 8 months ago. It was supposed to be double sided so my neighbor and us would have no bad side. However we got the back side for all panels and metal bars showing from side. After installed they said it would cost more for them to make same-at least they should have told us they were not following the plan of replacing it as we requested/as it was originally and done good neighborly fence. Also a gap at my neighbors garden box was not completely fenced but this was later covered by supervisor but it is noticeably different. I'm not super picky in most cases but we are finally getting to paint it and many upper boards not nailed well and I have found a board that was not nailed at all to a surface. If you go with these guys be sure the crew building the fence knows what the person who quoted job agreed to do. read more

I had them come and do my fence along my driveway about 5 months ago. I am not happy with the job at all The boards aren't even attached to the posts in areas. Also when they were attaching the wood fence to the posts the nails aren't even? My husband has done our fences before and there is no comparison on his work and Dan crew. Do NOT have a fence built by this company. They are unprofessional, use substandard materials, have poor workmanship, and they damage your property. We have been trying to get them to fix their mistakes for over six months now with no luck. I wanted a large wooden fence around our property and chose Dan the Fence Doctor just over a year ago. I now regret that decision. First, Dan removed the old chain-link fence. However, he left the old footings in on the bank where they were clearly visible. The new fence was built behind and on top of these post footings. I had to remove the most conspicuous post stubs and footings myself. Dan recommended that a section of fence be built on existing steel posts and concrete footing. We took his advice and he built a four foot fence plus a picket top using these posts for support. While this seemed to work initially, it turns out his professional opinion was wrong: After less than a year the fence has cracked the concrete all along that side of the property. We also contracted Dan to stain the fence. This was a disaster. They first used too little stain on the fence, trying to spread it too thin. This made it appear patchy and non-uniform, with areas where dribbles of stain had ran down. Asked about this, Dan didn't seem to see the problem, and we had to point out to the fence professional how a fence should be stained. This was fixed after a month of waiting. The worst problem was that during the spraying of the fence, they didn't cover anything. The WHOLE side of one house got a spray of chestnut fence stain - including all our windows and everything that was temporarily stored at that side of the house. My lawnmower is now brown. The concrete (now cracked) got a good stain too. They attempted to fix this by scrubbing the concrete clean. It didn't work. They didn't offer to help fix the damage they did to the windows and stucco, etc. The wood this business uses is of very poor quality. Many boards have split and/or are warped. One of the 2 x 4's used to make a gate has warped and now the gate does not close flush and it looks bad. The fence boards have shrunk considerably and have large gaps in between. Some shrinkage in expected, but not to this extent. Finally, one of the footings on the fence is loose. We have a long stretch of six-foot tall fence and one post has sunk, giving the fence a sagging appearance. You can hold the top of the fence and wobble this whole section. This happened after six months. Other footings now seem suspiciously shallow. Making sound footings is the most basic job of a fence business. They cannot even manage this. Dan the Fence Dr. is not worth the time and stress. read more

The neighbors around my home (three in all) needed to have fence work done. Most of the work was replacement going from old cedar fencing to vinyl. We had some wood fencing too. We took seven bids from area contractors and The Fence Dr. was almost the lowest of all. We all agreed though that we had a great feeling about Dan (the owner) and decided to use him as our contractor. The products he used were the same as what the other contractors had bid, but in some areas he did more than what some of the other contractors had included. In the last year or so I've had quite a bit of work done at my home. Of all the contractors I'd say Dan at The Fence Dr. was among the best. I'm not sure at all about the few negative reviews he's received. This was not even close to my experience with Dan and as I previously mentioned he was HIGHLY recommended by other neighbors in the area. Good luck! read more

Dan is the best. He is knowledgeable and cares about his work. He gave us a very competitive estimate and did a knock out job for us. We even had an issue with the stain after the boards shrunk a little bit leaving some of the boards exposed and Dan came back out no questions asked and put a another coat on free of charge which more than fixed the problem. This is what I look for in a contractor: affordable, knowledgeable, and backs his work up with great customer service, even after he had already been paid. He was also awesome with my 5 year old son and let him be his assistant throughout the whole job, he even paid my son 3 dollars at the end of the job for his "labor" lol. This guy is a pro, and just a great guy. My wife was the one who dealt with him most of the time because I was at work and he treated her with respect and care. Dan, the owner, is very professional about getting measurements correct and making sure that we were completely satisfied with the proposal. We were placed on the schedule and his crew showed up early in the morning and completed our fence and gates in one day and the other two neighbors in two days. His crew is very hard working and did not hesitate to answer any questions during the installation. Dan was on the job site every day which is something that you don't usually find in contractors. He constantly asked questions such as how we wanted the gates to open, in or out, and was able to offer suggestions as to placement of the fencing around obstacles. After having a good experience with Dan replacing the fence on one side of our property (it fell down), we had him come out later in the year to do the other side. Like the first time he provided a great price and installed the exact style of fence we needed (the trim needed to match my neighbor's other side fence). Unlike last time where he had some labor issues that caused the work to take longer than expected, this time his team arrived early in the morning and was finished by mid-afternoon. They left the place so clean that you wouldn't have know they were there. I have since referred Dan to a friend who had him replace a metal fence, and even my mother-in-law. Best value by far! High quality workmanship and attention to detail. We had a large section of our yard cedar fenced in. Dan was very responsive to all of our questions and took the time to help us decide on what directions would work best for our home. No pushy sales and a straight shooter. But the most impressive part..... Dan had replaced a section of our fence a few years ago for the previous owners. Dan asked if it was ok if he went ahead and check out the older portion of the fence and ensure the gates were all working properly. Seriously, if he didn't care about the quality of work and maintaining customer satisfaction he could have just put up the new fence and left. We needed to re-fence our side and back yard, 150' of fencing. We decided to go with a tan vinyl fence instead of wood. Called 5 fence companies, 3 came out to measure and provide a quote. When Dan at Fence Dr. came out to measure, he provided a written estimate before leaving our property. Based upon Yelp reviews, his comments on-site regarding how to handle a few problem areas, and his reasonable estimate, we decided to hire the Fence Dr. for our project. 5 weeks later, Dan arrived with a large crew and they completed our job within one day: removed and hauled away the old wooden fence, installed a Ply Gem vinyl fence, cleaned up/leveled the dirt against the new fence in better condition than at the start of the project. If you want his company for your project, just be patient. Call a few times, he is super busy, but you will be happy with the results. read more

I had a long common fence with my neighbor that was 50 years old and falling down. Fence Dr. had done some work for the same neighbor before, so we had Dan come out to give an estimate for a vinyl fence. He was very competitive, so I also had him give me an estimate on two more fences with gates on my property. He actually drew out on a piece of paper what he was going to do, and the costs for each fence. We all agreed on the price and a date to come out. He said it was going to be a 2 day project to get all the items completed (both mine and my neighbors, plus the common fence). When the date arrived, they showed up before 7:30am and worked all day (minus a lunch, of course), not leaving until at least 5pm. They got a lot of it done (demo, prep, pouring concrete and installing posts, etc.) and even were able to install some of the fencing so after they left we could let our dogs out into the back yard without a fear of them leaving our property. They were here the next morning a little after 7am and had the all the components of the projects completed around 2pm. Not a big job but being that I am a contractor I would have potentially referred him a lot of business had the owner not been such a pompous ass.
