A hidden gem in friends lake. We stayed here for one night and they literally have everything you can think of for a vacation home; outdoor jacuzzi, pool, bar, theater room, boat tour, smores, fireplace and a steam room. If you are lucky, you can spend time at outdoor jacuzzi for yourself/ your family. They also serve room-service breakfast which was delicious. The only minus points I want to mention are 1. no real fireplace (electronic fireplace) in your room (totally understood, but thought they had a real fireplace in each room from the pix we saw online. but they have like 3 real fireplaces in the property) and 2. we texted the owner the morning before we checked out to ask about the neighborhood, but we still didnt get a text back from her lol. but this place still gets 5 stars because we will definitely come back. such a cozy place and I can see that the owners really care about their property and also their customers. read more

R-e-l-a-x-I-n-g First time staying at a a B&B and I would definitely do it again. This was a two night get away. The Fern Lodge is tucked away off the beaten path with no signage. It's easy to miss but that's the whole point! You're off the grid and ready for some down time. Don't plan on using the internet much while you are here. We had a hard time getting and maintaining internet service. This was great in getting us to disconnect but a bit of a nightmare when we needed to use Waze or Mapquest for directions. We arrived 40 minutes early and the inn keeper initially seemed annoyed, frazzled and somewhat terse but quickly recovered once she realized our room was ready. After a tour of the grounds and the lodge we freshened up and headed downstairs to the main area for hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour. I envisioned this to be much more than it actually was. I can't say that it was disappointing because I never expected it to be a highlight of my stay. I was however, very surprised at what was provided given the cost of our stay. The inn keeper offered us beer and wine and gave us a plate of four deviled eggs served on a plate with paper doilies. That was the extent of the hors d'oeuvres. Nothing else was prepared and nothing else was offered. On our second evening we had a small plate of cheese and crackers. They should bill this more as a light snack vs hors d'oeuvres. But again, not a big deal. This happy hour happens each day around four. On our first night we sat in the screened in porch and enjoyed the view of the lake before heading out to dinner. The second night we sat by the fire. There were a few other couples but everyone kept to themselves and enjoyed whatever space they were in and our time still felt private. There are rooms on each level of the lodge all offering a beautiful view though not all overlook the water. The inn is beautiful and if you're focusing on the ambiance of the lodge and the natural beauty surrounding it you'll realize the deviled eggs mean nothing. Our room was spacious and included a fireplace a fire pit and a jacuzzi tub. There are multiple fire pits around the lodge and s'mores kits to enjoy. If you choose not to gaze at the lake from afar you can enjoy any of the water toys down at the dock. There are also several walking trails to burn off the s'more you ate the night before. The inn keeper was a great concierge providing us with directions as well as suggestions for food and activities. Despite having a full house we really didn't bump into the other guests much during our stay. Downstairs is a pool table, a bar, fire place, puzzles, pool table, chess board etc. the bar is an honor system where you sip and sign for whatever you consumed and it will be added to your bill. During our stay there was a family of four staying at the lodge. Their children were around 12 and 15 and played darts while we played pool. There was plenty of space for us not to get into each other's way. There are books that other guests have left if you'd like to sit back with a good read. Breakfast was multi course small plates that were beautifully presented, tasty and just the right amount of food. You can have it brought to your room or request to dine in one of many areas of the lodge. We chose a table on the second floor with a great view of the lake. It was our own little spot with no distractions. The per night cost is $$$ but well worth it to relax, reconnect or just get outside and enjoy nature. read more

We spent part of our Honeymoon at the Fern Lodge and we absolutely LOVED every minute of it. Wendy, the innkeeper, was amazing and was attentive and available for anything you needed while at the same time offering you the privacy and peacefulness you are at the lodge for. The breakfast that we got each day was AMAZING from french toast, to eggs, to waffles, it was all great. The inn (depending on your provider) has limited cell service but the wifi is high speed and works great. The TVs have so many options with YouTube TV being the primary source. We loved the common area with a small bar, pool table, darts and as many games as you can think of. The movie theater was awesome and they even offer complimentary microwaved pop corn which was cool. They take the boat out on the lake every so often as well. The outside area has a hot tub, fire pit and a grill area. Friends lake is a beautiful lake in the Adirondacks. My fiance surprised me for my birthday and rented out the whole lodge for a fabulous family celebration. We were treated to an amazing dinner by a private chef, slept in sumptuous guest rooms with every detail attended to and were awoken to the most amazing breakfast spread! Sharon worked with my fiance to make sure I was completely surprised! My adult children, their spouses and grandchildren each were made to feel so welcome by Sharon and her staff! This lodge has all the makings to be an amazing experience but fell completely flat with lack of execution, detail, and communication between hosts and guests. My boyfriend and I booked the Forest Guest room (listed as the most luxurious and most expensive room) for our anniversary. Before arrival I emailed the host Sharon to notify her that I have a service animal. No response and I had to reach out to confirm she had received his paperwork. Upon arrival to the lodge , we were greeted into an empty large living space, no fire places going, no one around, just people's luggage packed at the front door. It took me having to text Sharon again that someone finally got to us. When we entered the room it was beautiful, tub, indoor fireplace. However outdoor our "private terrace" area was un shoveled and the small fire pit covered in snow and not cleaned up. Note the day we arrived was sunny and beautiful. As I slipped into the bath, the water in the adjacent shower began to back up and rise and we had to wait for Sharon's husbands to come and draino it. Later that evening we wanted to peak into the shared common space 10+ seat theater to find it locked. I gently knocked and no answer, knocked again, and was greeted by another guest "yeah what's up". His female companion was in nothing by a robe and they soonly left the theater after our encounter which completely turned us away from even being in that room. Later that evening around 10 we used the app system to ask Sharon if we could start a fire outside our room. After multiple calls and texts, she did not answer me until 7am the next morning, even though she lives on the property. Another detail in the morning was our breakfast was missing items requested on our form. Sharon did not acknowledge us in person not greet us goodbye. As someone who has worked in customer service for over 10+ years, I was shocked this is how you treat your guests in your Inn. While scenic and nice, not worth the $600 and made our anniversary a crappy one to remember by. read more

My wife and I just returned from a 3-night stay at the Fern Lodge, and let's get the critical line out of the way up front: It was amazing. We live in Arlington, and it was a 7.5 hour drive, which made us a little hesitant, but also made us stay three nights instead of two. And I am so happy that we did. When we arrived, Sharon and Greg were there to welcome us, and they could not have been any nicer or more friendly. They also have two adorable dogs, the younger Noche and the older (more stately) Shadow. After getting the tour, we were shown our room, Cedar, which was awesome--gas fireplace, steam shower, dual sinks, heated floors, jacuzzi, king bed. There was a minor issue with the in-room jacuzzi, for which Greg and Sharon apologized profusely (and in our opinion, unnecessarily). They upgraded us to the Birch room, which was even more impressive! All the above amenities in a bigger room with a great lake view. It was fantastic. Fern Lodge is a wonderful place, with lots to do in the lodge itself. There is a massive fireplace on the main level, excellent for reading and chatting with other guests. The lower level has a wet bar (honor system), pool table, some fitness equipment, sauna, movie theater room, and outdoor hot tub. They offered us the use of snowshoes for hiking, of which we unfortunately did not make use. Every morning they serve an excellent breakfast. We had a variety of dishes during our stay: waffles with bacon, a sweet potato hash with eggs, a sausage broccoli and mushroom omelet. Everything was great. They also had fruits, cereals and yogurts available. Sharon and Greg also provided excellent recommendations for things to do and see, including places to eat. Do yourself a favor and trust them. They were spot on with everything. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and many many thanks to Sharon and Greg, who could not have been more gracious. While I doubt we will be back in that area any time soon, we would not hesitate to return--it was so much better than a mundane hotel room. read more

I hate to even write this because I selfishly don't want too many people to know about this place. It's like my own little private haven at the outskirts of Lake George. Sharon is just magic. She's attentive, helpful, a great cook and so incredibly generous and open. She greeted us after a hideous day of travel, told us where to eat, showed us the property and carried our bag for us. She made us vegetarian, gluten free options for breakfast. Her two dogs, Shadow and Noche, are just precious. The property. I cannot speak highly enough of the attention to every single detail. Sharon and her husband built this home together with the guests in mind. There is a rec room complete with full bar where you can make yourself anything you like and mark in on a "score" sheet and be charged later. Pool table, foosball, workout, hot tub outside overlooking the lake, rentable kayak, nightly tours of the lake, incredible breakfast with espresso. Our room had a jacuzzi and a rock shower with full body shower heads, Aveda products, fireplace in room, private patio, turn down service. It's. Just. Ridiculous. The woodwork is sublime. Full slat puzzle piece hardwood walls with tapered, shellacked floor boarding and crown moulding with beveled shelf woodwork throughout room. The piping for the gas fireplace is buried within this ceiling woodwork so that you, the guest, see only wood, beauty, comfort. All details have been hidden for a more seamless and relaxing experience. This couple LOVES their guests. This is the only way to describe it. I have never really seen this attention to detail and beauty anywhere and I travel the world for work. Thank you, Fern Lodge. We hope to see you again sooner than later. Absolutely magical. Sharon and Susana were kind and considerate hosts, along with the gorgeous amenities and luxurious ambience. It was the perfect destination for our anniversary! From the downstairs bar to the private movie room ~ to the scenic views from the balcony in your bedroom, this is now one of my most favorite getaway luxury retreats ~ and when I say, "reTREAT", I mean absolutely stunning! My boyfriend and I just spent 4 wonderful nights at the Fern lodge in July and had a relaxing time! I had emailed Sharon ahead of time to let her know about my dietary restrictions (vegan) and she was able to accommodate my needs every morning (delicious oatmeal, sweet potato hash, fruit, french toast, veggie scrambles, soy milk and granola). My boyfriend also enjoyed all of his (non-vegan) breakfasts! We went out on the evening boat rides twice and enjoyed learning more about the area and relaxing on the water! Sharon and Susan provided great local recommendations for lunch/dinners! We also enjoyed making a bon fire on site and spending the late afternoons swimming and relaxing on the property. We took out a 2 person kayak that was provided and enjoyed our paddle to the lagoon! We stayed in the cedar room, and although it did not have a lake view, we had a screened on porch that was very private. The bathroom is true luxury with double sinks, double jetted tub, steam shower with multiple jets and plenty of room for two! I felt like I was at a spa every night! We enjoyed the company of the staff, other guests and, of course, Shadow (the lovable resident pup)! The lodge was close enough to lake George and boltons landing, but far enough away to have more privacy on the water. Sharon and Greg gave us enough privacy and allowed us to really feel at home at their inn, yet were very warm and hospitable at the same time. Just got home from my anniversary weekend. Omg, I'd go back right now if i could. It was so romantic, i can't even put into words. We stayed in the forest room with the babymoon package. We had a fireplace and jacuzzi in our room which was very nice. I received a prenatal massage which was just what my body needed at 7 months pregnant. Sharon & Greg are so hospitable. They cook a delicious breakfast every morning and are there to help with whatever you need. Can't say enough positive things about my experience at the Fern Lodge! We spent the weekend here and rented out the lodge for a small wedding in July, and had the most amazing time! The lodge itself, and the attentive and welcoming staff, made the whole weekend special and stress-free. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and all unique in their own way. All are so comfortable and the beds/sheets were so luxurious, it truly felt like a relaxing get away. The grounds are beautiful and so well kept, the multiple firepits are awesome and allow you different views of the lake. The main lobby is gorgeous and great for big groups to gather and share meals. The provided breakfast was so delicious and we couldn't believe the amount and quality of the food, the chef was great. The bar and recreation room downstairs is spacious and perfect for gatherings and celebrations. Sharon went above and beyond before and during our stay to make sure everything was perfect and we couldn't appreciate it more. We can't wait to visit again, and recommend the lodge to anyone who wants to truly relax, escape, and feel pampered by the amazing surroundings, amenities, and staff! read more

We enjoyed a (too) short honeymoon at Fern Lodge and could not have been more pleased. The property is absolutely gorgeous, and nothing has been left out of the whole experience there. Such a pretty, peaceful place with beautiful landscaping, a lovely house, and every amenity you could imagine. Our room was perfect, from the steam shower and fireplace, to the comfy bed and private balcony. The boat ride with Sharon was great fun, and we enjoyed playing pool and eating popcorn. The hot tub was relaxing, the location was quiet, and there were many places to sit and enjoy nature. Our visit was too short to enjoy all of the activities possible without leaving the property. We came to The Fern Lodge as part of a wedding weekend. Although we didn't stay overnight here, we spent a considerable amount of time here for the ceremony, but also the night before and after the reception just hanging out. This is a gorgeous spot for a special weekend getaway. The lodge has a pool table, hot tub, and movie theatre! It's right on the lake and we were able to take boats out and my husband enjoyed fishing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of the 30+ people that were hanging out all weekend for this wedding. My girlfriend and I spent valentine's weekend 2015 at The Fern Lodge. You pull into a long driveway which leads to a secluded getaway. When you walk in you see magnificent fireplace in the great room which is floor to ceiling and a view of the lake in the back and are greeted by your hosts and owners Sharon & Greg, as well as the resident labs!! We stayed in "The Oak" room on the first floor which was fantastic! The room was so perfect with it's beautiful view of the lake, steam shower, Jacuzzi, double bath sinks, big comfortable king size bed, fireplace, and mini bar!! The room also had a porch overlooking the back of the property and the lake but it was way too cold out to use it!! Each day the staff was wonderful, the room was fully taken care of and ready when we returned. We had our breakfast each morning at the lodge which made to order, and was so nicely presented, everything you could ask for! The woman who was making breakfast for us, sorry I cant remember her name but she was so accommodating and made sure everything was perfect. Sharon & Greg made you feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for you! They suggested great restaurants and places of interest in the area. The lodge is in great location close to Lake George and surrounding things to do, but also secluded enough to feel like your no where near those things!! There is also a theater room on lower level along with a pool table, bar, popcorn machine etc. We had a absolutely fantastic stay at The Fern Lodge and will return again!!
