This is in response to the establishment's reply to my posting. Rudeness is rudeness despite whether we were guests or not. We were invited in for a tour and he was incredibly nasty. He was just plain rude and for no reason. Also your reply is incredibly defensive - I wonder why - and as is typical of how you operate people. Just nasty. This place has the rudest proprietor I have ever met. He brought us on a tour and was rude to us the entire time. Don't stay here unless you like arrogant people taking your money. read more

What a horrible experience and we never stayed there! My husband and I made reservations nearly 3 months ago.... last week I went to the ER and they found a 3mm kidney stone, so I didn't think it would be a good idea to travel 3 hours away with a stone. I called Joe the owner and asked if we can postpone our trip and arrive in mid August, he said no.... we asked if we could get a credit, he said no...... I asked if I showed him my emergency bill would we be able to postpone, he said no. What a TERRIBLE business owner- I don't care how many rooms you have, you don't treat customers like that. We've been staying in Lake George our whole lives for the summer and have never met anyone so crude and unprofessional. Save your money for the Sagamore Hotel!! read more

The last email I sent to Joe is attached- sadly, I will never, ever go here despite the fact I go by it several times throughout the summer for over 40 years.....My daughter knew my husband and I wanted to stay so she gave us a gift certificate for our anniversary last May. I booked last October for this May 17-19 2019. I was charged the full amount of the stay in advance - 1 nite + the use of my gift certificate- Their own policy states that is to occur only when the reservation is made 10 months in advance. I decided to go to Florida in March 2019 and I would have to reschedule the Boat House for later in the season. I called Joe April 3, 2019- per their policy, I was over the 30 day period so I was entitled to the entire amount less a $100. See attached- When I called Joe on April 3rd- he wasn't happy about having to cancel. I explained I really didn't want to reschedule but actually just reschedule- he still was nasty but agreed and asked for my dates. He was on speaker, I was with my husband in my car. I told him I would call him when I was positive of the dates but for now, heads up to take my reservation out- I actually said, "don't forget to take the reservation out. I wouldn't want you to lose the weekend." I never received a written cancellation. Makes sense. I am re-scheduling- right? Well I called to reschedule on May 17th, 2020. What a jerk. He doesn't remember me, our conversation and actually said I was a scammer. Yup called me a name! I called him on the 17th because originally that was the date- I remembered I gad never rescheduled...I was omw to the airport for Florida and called. To date- he has collected $832.50 from me (outside of his own policy as you can see) and I am out the money & gift certificate. Of course I have no desire to go back now. I should be reimbursed the money and the Gift certificate- I would give it away. I WOULD NEVER SET FOOT IN HIS PLACE but why should my daughter have wasted over $416.25. This is disgraceful. He is a horrible human being. Nasty, greedy and a complete ass. Approach booking a reservation with caution!! I am sending this to the Editor of the local paper and plastering all over social media. He has no right to do any of this! He 100% forgot to take me out. His only defense is and I quote, "shoe me your cancellation email" .....I do not have one. I never cancelled. I was simply rescheduling on April 3rd. I have attached my phone record as well as my confirmation booking to Florida. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Boathouse Bed & Breakfast. Our room was lovely as well as the views. I highly recommend the boat ride with Joe. We will be back. Too bad they aren't open for Christmas. read more

Our stay at this Lovely B & B turned Sour Quickly..... We were given the smallest corner room with a Bumpy Little Full Size Bed, No Air Conditioning & a Porta Pot size Bathroom. It was so uncomfortable for us..... (The Ciara Room) We dreaded going back to the room. The Owner Patty was completely unreasonable and continued to blame me for the choice of rooms. I would never have chosen their worst room. We were not on a Budget. Although it was a Beautiful setting, we just did not feel comfortable at all. We never went to breakfast Because we just did not want a confrontation with her. We will be going to The Sagamore in Lake George during our next visit. The Room makes all the difference. Instead of relaxing; we felt as though we would rather have been in our own beautiful room at home. Such a disappointment. read more

Beautiful location and views but customer service and accommodations were a big disappointment. After booking a room with a "private bath" we learned upon check-in our bathroom was across the hall, separate from our room. This was not disclosed when we made the reservation. Very uncomfortable with this, it was brought to the assistant and owners attention. They basically told us to take it or leave it, no refunds allowed and quickly the situation turned sour and uncomfortable; so much so we considered forfeiting our money to avoid being there. Our room (Allayla Room) was a closet sized back room with a small window and a lumpy queen bed for $400/night. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Joe and Patti are amazing hosts! We stayed in the Mason's Adirondack suite which is on the top floor of the carriage house (main house), not the boathouse. The suite has a large sliding glass door that opens on to a small porch. You can see the lake over the top and side of the boathouse. The room was very clean and well decorated. The bed was nice and large, and made of solid timber. There is a gas fireplace controlled by thermostat, and a small flat screen tv & dvd player above the mantle. They had the DVD playing a nice fireplace scene when we arrived and checked in - which was a nice romantic touch. The room has a dedicated heater / ac unit, two comfortable reading chairs, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and sink. The bathroom in the suite was very nice. A nice large Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and plenty of room for two to move about. The boathouse was immaculate. The main room was well decorated, had very comfortable couches in front of a fireplace, and a very large table for serving breakfast. Coffee and movies (for taking back to your room) are available in the boathouse. We didn't get to spend much time in the boathouse, as we were out exploring, but next time we are there we plan to relax a bit in the boathouse and enjoy the view over the lake while reading or drinking coffee! Breakfast was served promptly at 9am, chef's choice (but they do handle any dietary restrictions if you let them know in advance). The breakfast was a 3 course meal and well prepared and presented. Late arrivals are easy, just talk to Joe in advance. Keep in mind restaurants close early, at least during the off season (about 9:30 or so). read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE. I have tried to think through how to even write this review as I have never written one for a business before nor have I ever experienced something like this before. The experience wasn't just bad, it was scary. A back story: I was supposed to get married this year. Because of Covid I had to cancel my wedding, my shower, my bachelorette party, etc. My fiancé and two girlfriends made a plan to surprise me and send me off to Lake George to relax and lay in the lake since we live local. Friend #1 was surprising me on Saturday and the 2nd friend Sunday morning. One was staying one night because she has an infant at home, one was staying the other. In fact, my fiancé when booking my surprise even told the person who took the booking this. What happened: I was at breakfast with friend #1 (which by the way, show up at 9am prompt and don't eat slow or that won't be enjoyable either but that's the least of my worries here) and friend #2 showed up Sunday morning and wasn't allowed to surprise me. She was yelled at for coming on the property and removed. Now, I don't even know she is here because this is a surprise, which she explained to Joe upon arrival. After she was removed, Joe came flying out onto the front porch angry and I was met with a "I am going to tell you right now how this is going to go". The owner was so abrupt and hostile that I even said, "sir I think you have the wrong people." He read us the riot act about having 3 people at his home and we left the front porch without finishing our breakfast scared/concerned/ bewildered. Almost forgot, we are paying over $500 a night to get treated like this but more on that later. All three of us left the property to figure out a new place to eat and a new place to go for the day until friend #1 went home. Found a new place to eat and found a new place to sit in the water with our tubes, perfect. We went back to the room so that friend #1 could pump and get the breastmilk into the fridge/pack up her bags and friend #2 could put her valuables in the room/out of her car/change into bathing suits for the day. This is where things got very bad: We heard banging and screaming at the other side of the door. The owner Joe was livid and accusing us of lying to him because we went in the room together (the room I have paid over $1,000 to be in). At this point I turned my phone video camera on because he looked like he wanted to drag us out with his own two hands (Yelp won't let me add a video, inbox me if you want to see him in action). We tried to calm him down and asked him to stop pointing a finger in our face and screaming. His response was you leave in 5 minutes or I call the police. The friend that is pumping was in the bathroom and he accused her of hiding. We were told we are liars, a disappointment, "something is wrong with our DNA", made fun of where we went to college, etc. Because we were physically unable to leave within 5 minutes, he called the police. What happened for the next 10 minutes of scrambling out of their and finding a new hotel was something I will never forget in my life. Looking back, I would have asked to talk to the police officer because we later realized he just wanted us to be so scared and flustered that we didn't get the proper documentation. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE PART: To the general public, if you are still considering booking here read the fine print in his contracts. Whether he kicks you out, you cancel, a natural disaster occurs, a family member dies - Joe will still walk away with your money. Just filter the bad reviews and look at what others have gone through with this guy and his negligent responses to those reviews. He mocks, blames, and misconstrues the review of every single customer and takes no responsibility. This behavior is unacceptable. Joe was able to kick us out and still take both night's money. We were only able to stay one night. My 2 friends & fiancé paid over $1,000 of their hard-earned money so I could have a weekend to celebrate what was supposed to be my wedding all to get screamed at, surprise ruined, kicked out, embarrassed, and mocked. We didn't get to finish our breakfast, shower, brush our teeth, nothing. I hope you sleep well at night with our hard-earned money Mr. Silipigno, we are good people and I hope I NEVER have to deal with someone like you again in my lifetime. read more

The boathouse is a gorgeous bed and breakfast directly on Lake George. We stayed in the Mason's Adirondack suite which is an addition to the original boathouse. It sits behind the original building but the lake is still visible. The bed was extremely comfortable with super soft linens. There is a fireplace that is set via a thermostat. There is a small balcony that we did not use because it rained the whole time we were there. The bathroom is huge and has a Jacuzzi tub and rain shower. There is a small bar area with a mini-fridge and cups, coffee, hot chocolate, silverware, etc. The breakfasts were amazing too. The owners were very nice too. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it is pretty expensive. read more

This is just the most wonderful place to stay you will ever visit. The building has been lovingly restore by the owners, Joe and Patti and what a job they have done. Nothing is left to chance and it is so beautiful you will feel right at home. The morning breakfast that Patti cooks is out of this world and leaves you feeling ready to take on the rest of the day. Jos's boat tour is NOT to be missed! Another great feature is that you are within walking distance of both the village of Bolton Landing, with lots of shops and restaurants, and also the world famous Sagamore Inn. We have never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast before and didn't know what to expect. All I can say is that this was the best mini vacation my wife and I have ever had. The owners made us feel like family and between the quiet atmosphere and beautiful surroundings it couldn't have been better. Patti kept us well fed and joe was very knowledgeable as he took us on the boat tour. Although slightly pricier than some places and less than others you get what you pay for. I would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to coming back again. read more

We stayed here recently and were fortunate enough to have great weather. The view from our room (Adirondack Suite) was gorgeous, and sitting on the front porch and drinking coffee while staring at the lake was heavenly. The bed was comfortable and we slept through the night without waking up once. The innkeepers were very nice, their dogs were adorable and the breakfasts were delicious. The rate is a bit high, but it was a nice splurge for a special occasion. read more

IM SO EXCITED TO WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT THIS PLACE...i stayed here a few weeks ago and it was so great. Not only were the views in this adorable mansion just stunning..but the couple that owns the house is also amazing. The wife and another woman cook the breakfast...which both days is stayed, the breakfast was so great. The couple is so nice, and really welcome you like you are part of their family. We stayed in the reis room i believe it was and it was so cute with a great view.... I wish i had a reason to return every weekend....i hope i get to go back sometime soon! read more

The way we were treated on this very special occasion was unacceptable. We came for our Anniversary from NYC. We were in the jacuzzi relaxing Saturday night and the owner started knocking on the door and shouting at us like a maniac . I got out and went to the door and he shouted at us to turn it off because it was dripping downstairs. I was so perplexed that didn't even say much to him. We turned the jacuzzi off and stayed in there for a bit feeling very confused and upset about the the way he treated us when we were not doing anything wrong. The water was running, but it never went overflow as he was accusing us! I couldn't believe it!! We responsible calm people in our early 30s, we go to hotels and B&B all the time and use the facilities with extra care and never had any problems. Next morning we went to breakfast, we talked to them like normal because we didn't want to have any conflicts and be at peace at our anniversary, and we even hired the boat tour with them that morning. After the boat tour, he takes us to the kitchen, shows us a mark on the ceiling and tells us we have to pay for that. I tell him we did not misuse the jacuzzi and if they have pipe / leak issues they should take care of it. He insisted saying it would take about $200 to fix. I couldn't believe this after we spent about $900 on stay for the weekend and then another $100 in the boat ride and we hadn't done anything wrong !! We are couple in NYC that would have brought them tons of business from young NYC couples to their place and make them much more than those $200.... My wife ended up handing him a $100 bill and we left, and he said " i'm a millionaire, you think I care about 100 bucks? its a matter of principle". Very classy sir! Our stay at the Boathouse created a special memory for us. It had been over 40 year since we had been on Lake George, and our memory served us right. Lake George is one of the most beautiful places in the world and this was helped by the views from the decks of The Boathouse. Loved having my 17' foot Boston Whaler Montauk to tour the lake. You have get on the water to fully enjoy the lake, the islands, campsites, homes, and inns. Also, the boathouse is close to the Sagamore Hotel which has fantastic restaurants that are reasonably prices in view of the quality they provide. It is an experience to see how the other half lives.
