They boast a wide variety of Irish whiskeys, gins, Scotches, ales, and stouts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing that would've made it better was if they'd had Irish music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would guess that they typically do, however we visited on a night that had a college football bowl game on. My husband is British, and I lived in England for just over six years, so we were excited to try the Wayside Pub. We went on a Monday just after 11am, and it wasn't very busy that we could see. The woman at the front was really nice and sat us right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place didn't really give off a British pub ambiance, but it was nice, and it was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We opted for a starter that wasn't very British of fries, gravy, cheese, and a fried egg. That was kinda mid. However, our main courses were really good! I got the chicken florentine with a double side of mash since my stomach issues won't allow me to really have any veg. (Not very a British, I know, but it did sound good!) My husband got the Tour of Britain. My main course was so good! The chicken was nice and moist and had a great flavor. The mash was so good, and I loved the garlic in it! My husband's main was really good too, but he was disappointed that they served cottage pie but were calling it shepard's pie although it's not really a shepard's pie. Shepard's pie is made with lamb whereas a cottage pie is made with beef. The Wayside Pub served cottage pie (made with beef), so calling it shepard's pie is not correct since it was not made with lamb, but hey, it tasted good. My husband was happy that they served the traditional cod for fish and chips like they do in England. He also liked that they serve proper English sausage instead of the American sausage. All in all, this is a great little pub. It's not super authentically English, but it's close, and the food is great. Service was five stars for sure! Have to have some Gypsy fries! Unique flavor. My husband had fish tacos and he said 9.5 out of 10. I had the fish and chips. The flavor of the cod and crunch definitely made it taste delicious. We visited twice on consecutive days (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day). We sampled the fish & chips with the chili (Awesome!), Grilled Chicken Salad with the Tomato Basil Soup (Awesome!). Next we ordered the Shepard's Pie and BLT on marbled rye. Both of these entrees were excellent!! We love fish and chips in the UK and had high hopes, however my husband thought the batter "tasted funny", which may come down to the beer used in the beer batter, don't really know. Neither of us were blown away by the soup - my French onion had an herby flavor that I couldn't identify and it didn't tasty oniony. My husbands tomato basil had an odd chunky consistency. My BLT had a lot of bacon however the jalapeño avocado Mayo did not complement the sandwich. The service was very efficient and we were quickly served. Creme Brule, needs work. If you're going to waste good chocolate and caramel sauce then don't lay the spoon handles in it. Use a real blow torch. Add enough sugar to make an actual crust. You missed the point of thw Creme Brulé. Crack it, eat it. read more

We like coming here and getting that Irish pub feeling. Today was a miss on the drinks. The fish and chips were good. But we got here to early and the bartenders were not on yet so there's that. But being told we good still order a drinks Norm ordered a dirty martini and I ordered a Mango margarita. The olives were so salty Norm couldn't finish his drink and my Marg was so sour I couldn't drink it. When we asked for our bill the waitress didn't even ask if something was wrong with my drink since I didn't drink much of it. So will we come back ? Yes but after 12 when the bartender is there and I'll stick to a reg Marg from now on. read more

Excellent experiences 99.7 of the time in the last year. This night I was excited to try a menu item that was a hit in reviews I've read. I've enjoyed Shepherds Pie numerous times prior to this, so after a busy day I was ready for deliciousness! Never mind that this recipe had ground Beef in lieu of traditional lamb it mattered not I was happy with what was described on the menu at Wayside! As our appetizers (2) arrived our order was taken. The sea of melted cheese which arrived in the guise of Shepherds pie was surprising. My spoon scooped down into the shallow dish revealing little mashed potatoes, meat mixture and less than a small amount of vegetables( traditionally peas and carrots). The richness of the meat mixture and The greasiness of the abundant melted cheese needed more mashed potatoes! Having a reasonable Ammon of starch to absorb the cheese and meat mixture seemed rational. When the waitress informed me she would bring me more for $2.00 I elected to have my entire dinner packed to go so I could make mashed potatoes at home and enjoy it. The pint container she brought wouldn't have even accommodated the cheese let alone the meat mixture. The waitress seemed mystified that I had the gall to request a to go box. My left over Scotch egg and Reuben ball somehow did not register on her radar for any sort of packing for the trip home. Did she expect me to put them in my pocket? When she did bring a small box for them I had to request a to go serving of the sauce that accompanies these appetizers. Wow.. is it really necessary for customers to think for servers? Sigh. A brief conversation with Simon a manager as I left(thank goodness she did offer me a bag to place all four containers in!!!) highlighted the need for staff to be more attentive to the needs of diners. Hubbys Cod Sandwich was delicious. Fries were tasty! The contents of my Shepherds pie were enhanced by the addition of 3/4 cup of peas and Carrots and 2 Cups of Home made Garlic Mashed Potatoes. I hadn't planned on cooking.... but this casserole will feed three tonight with side salads. I'm sure it will delight us all. read more
