Hidden Gem! We were looking for a place to have good breakfast and orange cafe bistro has a lot of good reviews so we went check it out. I was surprised to find this place hidden in orange. Lots of menus. Big portions. Emilio is our server and i can see how hard he works, he was fast and very friendly and respectful. Like what i said it was hidden, and when you see a crew of firefighters hanging out you know the food is good. the place was busy when we arrived but we were seated right away. Love it!! We had the ham and eggs and sides of fresh avocados and tomatoes! The toast was so good, I loved the larger slices nicely buttered up, like the old diners used to have. Emilio was our server and he was very attentive. He even made sure my dog had lots of water and he recommended a puppy patty for my pup. This was the perfect family post-graduation brunch! We heard about this place recently, that it's one of the best brunches in Orange and it lived up to the hype! I love that it's a hidden gem tucked away in a small shopping center. It's a small but quaint spot with both indoor and outdoor (limited) seating. Emilio our server was wonderful, the food was delicious and the portions were great. Especially awesome that you can choose a pancake with your omelette as your choice of bread! Because everyone always wants a side of just one pancake with their breakfast, literally perfect, and included in the price (epic)! The hash browns were delicious and I especially loved the squaw bread option (amongst many others they offer). A little disappointed overall with the food. Pastrami Sandwich was OK. The pastrami itself was a little dry, thick, and not fatty enough. French roll wasn't crunchy like I requested. I asked for the crab cakes as a side instead of Benedict. I should've asked whether it were made with real or imitation crab before ordering. Turns out, it's imitation crab. I'm not sure I've been to a restaurant that serves imitation crab for crab cakes. Feels kinda wrong. And these "crab" cakes came out not as hot as I expected. Yes they were crispy on the outside but the inside was not hot. Makes me wonder if it's old. Originally told it would be one cake for $6 but they gave me 2. So that's cool. Local Gem. The food here is really good and reasonably priced. If it's your first time, they'll point you toward their popular dishes, which is helpful. Their portions are very generous! The pancakes are a standout--super fluffy and not dry at all. They have indoor and outdoor tables available. The staff is warm and welcoming--our waitress Alicia was great. It has that true home-style diner feel, where they actually take the time to chat with you and make you feel like a regular. We were greeted and sat down by a wonderful young man named Emilio, He got us coffee right away and made sure we knew that our food might take little longer since they were at capacity. Solid breakfast spot! I met a few friends who live nearby. Parking lot was easy and restaurant was empty on a Thursday morning. Service was strange- the server kept saying 'everything is good' and didn't really good enough feedback. We ended up ordering vanilla cappuccino (excellent), shared the French toast (incredible) and got three separate egg dishes with sour dough and some hash browns to share. Everything was excellent! I got the Meat Lovers Omelette with a side of potato salad and pancakes. Omelette was not the best. It was kind of wet and would break apart when I cut into it. 3/5 Potato Salad was fine. Same kind of quality you would get from the grocery store. Pancakes were the highlight of the meal. Delicious! 5/5 Kind of pricy for the food and it was alright. Also water had a very weird taste. There are a number of seats inside as well as some tables outside covered by an orange awning. The menu has so much variety from a variety of breakfast dishes to burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They also have a kids menu with a Panda Face Pancake - cute! We ordered the 2 pancake combo, the crab cake benedict, and the Creme Brulee French Toast. Everything was soo good! The pancakes were fluffy and delicious just the way I like it. The french toast came with a yummy custard sauce with that candied crunchy sugar crust. The crab cakes were equally delightful, with a crispy crab cake and perfectly poached eggs, covered in plenty of yummy hollandiase sauce. Service was great, our server was upbeat and friendly. From the food to the service, I totally enjoyed my dining experience here. Parking is very limited, so you may have to find street parking if it's busy. read more
