Absolutely love this place. I totally forgot the servers names, but they were awesome. I had the Reuben, it was absolutely fantastic. My husband's burger was cooked to perfection and taste great. Oh, and they came with homemade chips with a fabulous gorgonzola dipping sauce. It's a must! The picture of dessert doesn't even show the deliciousness of it. Great big messy sandwiches. Delicious housemade saices, dressings and chips. Sweet potatoe chips are easy to find here, not so much anywhere else. Nice local beer selection and friendly staff. The decor is incomplete: mix of ski lodge and frat lounge. The seats are not comfortable enough to stay more than 45 minutes or so. Several HDTV's but never anything interesting to watch on a weekday afternoon. The staff is pretty friggin' awesome: helpful, attentive, knowledgeable and quick. This is my absolute favorite bar. It's low key, intimate, and just the right kind of take-no-shit place everyone looks for. The drinks are actually amazing and flavorful in comparison to other places opening up recently. Each of the servers are phenomenal and the only time they aren't is when you're an asshole. All I can say this is one of the worst places I've dined at in a long time. Not enough staff for the crowd so we waited almost 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order. Once order was placed, we watched other tables receive their food who had come in after us. Once the food did arrive, it was all warm. The only thing that was hot was the burger, so there is obviously an inability of the cook staff to correctly time dishes to come out hot at the same time. Most of our meals tasted like they stayed under a warmer until the entire order was completed. I eat at most places based on Yelp reviews, so I'm not sure how there rating was inflated because I did not enjoy the place or food at all. read more

Wow! This has got to be one of the best little spots I have found so far. My boyfriend and I just moved up to Beaverton and decided to go out. Stopped at three other places and their atmosphere turned us away. As soon as we walked in the door here we were greeted by a waitress. Out to the patio we went. All of the staff have been super friendly. Do you remember "one headlight" and other great "alternative-pop" songs from the 90's? They do as well. Are you looking for a great burger? Maybe a 1/2 pound of made to order burgers? They got em! Sandwiches and an amazing scotch egg on the menu! Decided to try the "adult" Capri Sun insight and was not disappointed. Mindy was our waitress, I'm big on learning a persons name, and in return she asked is for out names and as we were leaving she and the other gentlemen running said good to us! I think we just found our new spot. A beer on tap, a cocktail, 2 appetizers and a sandwich for 30 dollars. It was happy hour, so one of the appetizers is normally a full entree. This is one of my favorite places to go out for dinner and drinks so I was stoked to see that they were open. I felt safe safe eating there on the patio and they are taking COVID precautions seriously. The service is always top notch. Seriously, it seems that everyone that works here is friendly and helpful. This was my first time and honestly only earned three stars. But I've read such great things that I really want to go back and try again. So for starters, my friend and I were sat at a booth. She ordered chips and a beer. The chips came..but no beer. Our server disappeared and basically left us there for about 20 minutes. Eventually he came back, took our order and then she reminded him about the beer. I got a simple burger, with chips and she got a bacon burger with a side salad. Still no beer. Our food shows up pretty fast and finally the beer comes with. The burger wasn't that good, which makes me sad. I was REALLY looking forward to this. And based off the reviews I'm thinking it was just a combination of an off night and a bad order. I got a simple 1/4 lb (rather than the 1/2) cheeseburger with ketchup. The patty was small and tough, lacked and the bun completely swallowed it. It was like eating a large, charred bun with some meat occasionally. I think I need to get the 1/2lb and emphasize I want ketchup on it too. The chips were great though and my friend loved her salad. She like her burger, so again I think I just ordered wrong. Then the server drops off the check and basically runs away. We put our cards in and he eventually shows up. He then takes the book and assumes we're splitting the check even. I ordered one burger. She got an app, beer and more elaborate burger. What should have cost me $9 ended up being $20. The server just dropped off the book, picked it up then dropped it again without ever giving us a chance to explain or get a word in. Ugh. I do really want to try again but I might wait a bit.. Update: Ok. SO glad I tried again. Oh my GOD the burgers. I was right, I ordered wrong! I got the full sized burger and added ketchup (I don't care what they say, I LIKE ketchup on my burger) and it was SO good. This is where I'll dream of when I'm craving burgers. YUM! Lost a star for the chips this time..sadly some of the chips were soggy. But still yummy. The boyfriend got the burger with an egg and he devoured it. We stopped in for lunch after having been here once before. The burgers are good but the service is very lacking. A couple that walked in at the exact same time as we did was served 20 minutes before us and another couple who walked in 15-20 minutes AFTER us was also served before us. We waited approx. 50 minutes for our food while on a 1 hour lunch break. When I asked why others were being served before us, when they arrived and ordered well after us, our server said he didn't know what to tell me and proceeded to call me "dear" a few times. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is to give credit to the cook who was working hard and trying to hustle while 3-4 other staff were standing around, mostly just watching him. I believe this industry is about 50% how good the food is and 50% about how good the service is. We won't be back to this one. read more

Outstanding neighborhood establishment! Arguably one of the best burgers in greater Portland area. The Bomber Burger is to die for. And the Gorgonzola cheese sauce with the chips. The homemade ketchup rivals or even beats Portland Ketchup. If you die from a heart attack after this meal you will go to heaven in good standing. Drinks are always great. Wait staff is always friendly and they seem to keep folks a long time. Never a bad experience in years of frequent visits. The hunting video game is a hoot. Only slight complaint is too many televisions and occasional noise level. Otherwise I'd give them five stars. I really do love this place. read more

I, Wife N., and Brother N. visited for some Happy Hour drinks and a meal of appetizers before heading a few miles up the road to Cinetopia for a movie. We each ordered a beverage and several appetizers to share. We really had a somewhat varied experience. Some of the food was fantastic and unique, and very well executed for what it was. Others were okay, but not particularly memorable. The highlights: Scotch Egg with Dijon Aioli. Fireside's Scotch Egg adheres to the classic: a hard-boiled egg, encased in sausage, breaded, and deep fried. The sausage retained a bit of the frying oil but it didn't detract at all from the dish. It was absolutely excellent and an item I haven't seen on many--or really any--appetizer menus. Also, the waffle-fried chicken was incredible. Waffle-battered breast strips fried to perfection (and remaining perfectly moist), served with maple syrup. Another rare item that was a total treat. Honorable mention goes to the house chips with Gorgonzola cream sauce which was pretty good. The "okay, but nothing to write home about": Mac n Cheese. It was "good", the combination of textures was nice, but it just lacked a flavor direction--maybe a bit more (and I mean a SMALL bit) nutmeg or nutmeg/paprika mix would have done the trick. The wings were also okay, but I found the buffalo sauce way too tart for my preferences. Brother N thought it was just fine after acclimating his palate to a few bites. The drinks: This is where I have somewhat mixed emotions. Wife N. has some very distinct flavor likes and dislikes---let's just sum it up with "she's picky." So, to her, it's an honest question when she expresses interest and asks "what's in your such-and-such drink?" The bartender (who also turned out to be the owner) answered "don't worry about it; you'll love it just like the name says." But we weren't really asking whether she'd love it. We were asking because we honestly wanted to know if it had any of the ingredients in it (for example anything with coconut) that she knows she won't like. The drink menus are (as we found out) intentionally cryptic because the owner has had people "steal his drink recipes" in the past and he's (in our opinion) overboard-defensive about it. Now, I've been to some pretty serious bars with some pretty outstanding mixologists (for example nationally-recognized Lucy Brennan at Mint/820 in N Portland) who have no problem describing the ingredients in their drinks. After all, it's not just what's in it, but the proportions and how it's mixed that will make or break a drink. I had a whiskey/peach drink that was nice, a bit complex--not bad at all. Wife went with the "F*n Delicious" (except he spells it out) which she thought was "okay" but didn't live up to its namesake. And my brother had a spiced coffee drink which we all agreed was WAY overboard on the cloves. It had vanilla and cinnamon notes somewhere in there, but the overbearing cloves killed the drink. We came away with one opinion on the cocktails: the drinks have to be good enough to back up the defensive attitude. These weren't. Wife N. and I have invented better at home and had far more memorable drinks elsewhere. We'll probably just stick with some beers next time. In all, this place is decent. It's a 21-and-over, kind-of-sports-bar-ish place. Some of their dinner selections looked pretty good, and I think we'll be back to try some of them. If the food is good enough, it could redeem this review to a future 4* update, but for now, going with "A-OK". read more

Stopped in last night. Place was hoppin. A server took our drink order pretty promptly but she had so many tables she forgot to take our food order. About 15 minutes later Another server noticed our menus sitting on our table - a sign we still needed to order food, so He took our order. About an hour later, still no food. I had a direct view into the kitchen and noticed several tables who were served food who had come in after us. We had to leave, they rushed the order and boxed it up. We hardly ever venture over to this part of town but we wanted to try something new. The Yelp reviews were pretty spot on. When we entered, it was a seat yourself and thank goodness we found a table. Our table happened to be in front of the massive collection of flat screen TVs. There happened to be an NHL game playing on the TV right next to our table so on one side we were bathed in a white glow. I pretended it was a crackling fire, LED-style, more romantic. Do order from the cocktail menu. There are some interesting drinks that make you go "whaaa?!" but go for it. It's delicious. When the cold weather rolls in, it puts me in the mood for hot cider so I had their adult version of it. It didn't disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Merniere (?) which is a thinly sliced chicken filets, lightly breaded and moist with green beans that are perfectly crunchy and since they ran out of mashers, we were recommended the potato cake with gorgonzola cheese and bacon. It was so delicious. The sweetheart had the double pork chop and it was deliciously moist. It tasted the way pork should. Pork. He had a ... blackberry sauce? Some kind of berry and it was delicious. It really did enhance the flavors. The portions are perfect. We both ended up cleaning our plate which doesn't happen often when we eat out. The service was a little start but everyone is very nice. There was a constant flow of people. There are plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure. The seating arrangement is such that it can accommodate a group or if you're on a date. We showed up around 6 PM it was really busy on a Saturday evening. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes for a spot and had some drinks while we were waiting. Our server was really great! She did a great job describing the different types of bourbon and beers they have. I have to say their wait staff is incredible Look no further for a excellent Reuben sandwich it was delicious! My wife had the fireside bourbon burger and she loved it. A lot of the food is made from scratch which is really nice to see. I would've taken pictures but I was just too hungry. The hamburger was cooked to perfection. The sautéed red onions and Swiss cheese mixed well for a full effect of flavored melding much like the melting cheese. The Cobb salad was fresh and delicious. The varietals in the salad made for a scrumptious crisp tang. Plenty of fresh turkey and ham. The egg was cooked just right and the cherry tomatoes were superb. Still the best burger I've found in town. I highly recommend the Fireside Burger. However, this is our first time back since having our daughter because they don't allow minors at any time of day. The service was pretty bad. The only times we were helped were taking our order, delivering food, and giving us our check. My wife sat with an empty water glass the whole dinner, she needed to wait 10 minutes for extra burger sauce, I really was only able to order 1 beer. When the tables were full and people started waiting around for tables, we got quick service to get our check and us out the door. Went for breakfast with family. Waitress was rude and condescending. She didn't check on our table except for taking the order and delivering the food and drinks. I took a dish to the counter to ask for it to be warmed up because it came out cold. They fired a whole new dish and one of the cooks brought it to our table. We wanted to order a second round of drinks but nobody ever came back to our table. We waited about another 20 minutes. At that point I went to the bar to get the check The waitress was rude and told me she wouldn't charge us for the new dish. Ummm...we didn't ask for a new one. She was just snotty from the start. Definitely one of my favorite places in the Portland area. This place is tucked away from thoroughfare and you have to know what you're looking for in able to find it so the parking lot can be a little adventurous as well as the limited space inside. Once you find a place to sit and park your car you will have a great time. This place does not allow children so do not think about bringing your kids. That's not necessarily a negative mark it's a good place for adults just to be adults without having to worry about being within earshot of a family. A great restaurant starts with great leadership, the owner Dave provides great leadership for this restaurant. You won't notice Dave unless you act rude to one of the servers, bartenders, or bus boys. Dave will be working side-by-side bussing tables and taking orders so please be respectful to your server here because Dave will have their back like he should when customers are outrageous. Or you might just have Dave as your server. The food in here is amazing, everything on the menu has a really unique taste but I recommend the sweet potato chips and the bourbon Burger. But I'll go as far to say that everything I've had on the menu is delicious. The hummus plate has ample portions and delicious pickled onions. The salads are bountiful and tasty. Dave has personally designed some great drinks. As a child of the 90s my favorite is "the Capri Sun." Just don't ask Dave for a mojito, seriously he will refuse to make you one it's pretty funny actually. Even though you can't get a Mojito here, the drink menu is pretty robust so I suggest stepping out of your comfort zone and trying all the seasonal and regular drinks on the drink menu. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a full 5 star review is the lack of seating inside. It's one of those places that if people linger it'll create a blockage all night and it'll be hard to get a table. During the summer season, the patio seating is really nice and really opens up the restaurant. During the winter there is very limited seating. This is my fourth time eating here. One for brunch and three for lunch. All 4 times, unfortunately, I was not able to sit outside as it was winter the whole time. Their chips are made there, and it is just the best damn potato chips I have ever had, and yes I've been to Kells and had their Irish nachos. Their drinks are always on point. It wasn't fancy by any means but the food was very good. I had the ribeye and the person I was with had the hamburger. Both were great. My ribeye was cooke perfectly and tasted great. It wasn't even all that expensive. I think this is a quiet gem that is worth going to for great food without having to pay fancy prices. Love The Fireside Grill - the steak wrap is where it's at. I get sauce in the side otherwise it's a little messy and don't be afraid to tell them how you'd like the steak cooked in it. I also love the gnocchi appetizer - but if you order it to go, check the box as they might skimp you and only put two pieces in it and still charge you full price.
