This place is so chill! The Marriott told me to come here and when I arrived I was put off that it was in a strip mall behind a 7-11. I was so wrong! The staff is some of the best I've ever met and I travel all 50 states. The music was on point and the food was SO good. I had the cowboy and it was really good. The only complaint was the meat had a bit of gristle but everything else gets a 5 star hands down. The beer selection is varied and decent... cold! Don't let the store front fool you. Fireside grill is a local bar food favorite of ours. We haven't had a bad meal ever and everyone has been super nice and efficient. The wings are my favorite, but I do ask them to crisp them up when ordering. Flavor is great! The burgers are delicious and my husband has had the Club Sandwich. Definitely not a typical Club Sandwich but he said it was delicious nonetheless. Great neighborhood grub! read more

Once upon a time, I would have given Fireside 5 stars. My partner and I have been coming here for a while now (~5 years), and used love everything on the menu. Lately, this has not been the case. While the burgers are still amazing, the other entrees, especially the steaks, just aren't as good as they used to be. There seems to have been a decline in the quality of service as well. We came in this morning for brunch, and ordered mimosas right away. When the server came around to take our order, my partner got the French toast and I asked for the wrap. She asked if I'd like steak or veggie, and I chose steak. When we got our food, the French toast was expected, but the wrap seemed off. It was not served with sour cream and chipotle sauce as the menu described, and there weren't any potatoes. I mentioned this to our server when she checked in on us, and she said I was describing the breakfast wrap. I told her I didn't realize there were different wrap options because we were ordering from the brunch menu, which only had one wrap on it, so I thought I had ordered the breakfast wrap. Instead of making any attempt to rectify the situation after I made it clear that the food I received was not what I had thought I had ordered, she laughed it off and said I ought to come back again sometime to try the breakfast wrap. I was pretty disappointed by that response. I've had mix-ups happen before, and the staff have always been more than willing to go above and beyond to solve the issue. Unfortunately that no longer seems to be the case. Honestly, this experience is making us think twice about coming back to Fireside again. We used to really love this place, but it just isn't the same anymore :( read more

His med. rare burger was tartar rare. Same thing just happened in Carmel, Ca. NOT same result. These folks had his burger do over fast plus an entire plate full of the homemade chips and cheese. Hubby didn't like the cheese dip. Normally greasy and dipping sauce is NOT happening with me. Nope. HOWEVER, rules were broken with these homemade warm, naughty, sinful, fabulous chips and cheese. My husband and I went for our first lunch date as a married couple and it was amazing! While it was odd to have multiple different waitresses, our service was amazing. The chicken wings were fantastic - my husband is very picky about his chicken, and he was so happy to know a place where they're finally served up to his expectations! I had the BLT for my lunch with a side salad - so delicious and fresh! My husband has a burger (I can't remember which one) but he ate every last bite. The menu listed a cider on tap that was no longer available- but the server suggested something else, offered a taste and it was a great suggestion. The food is top notch, and the drinks are a flowing. Location is tucked behind a 7-eleven and a dry cleaners on Hall Blvd. And there is parking in the back. The steaks and burgers are my favorite. There are aspects of this restaurant that make it five star. For example, the service is warm and friendly. Many of the plates they serve contain homemade ingredients. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and the marble rye bread was extra thick and tasted homemade. The sauerkraut was beer steeped and very tasty. And the sweet potato chips were homemade with a cinnamon salt seasoning that was very nice. But the corn beef was cubed instead of sliced. And it just ruined the sandwich. I'm sorry the texture wasn't what it should be like the classic deli style Reuben. All that effort into those home made ingredients for not if you use the wrong type of meat. This is like making a Waldorf salad with fresh homemade mayonnaise and organic lettuce and candy walnuts, and then opening up a can of fruit cocktail for the fruit. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I hope this feedback can be taken with what it's worth, just an opinion. And four stars is still an excellent rating and we will come back,! I honestly don't know what the hype is about. Worst food we've had in a long time. Maybe its bc we don't drink? Maybe the food tastes better when you're drunk? There was no less than a cup of oil on the bottom of my pasta. Disgusting. I literally poured out the oil hoping to salvage my pasta. No luck. Husband's $16 chicken was bland af. The staff was nice when they came around (which wasn't often) and I normally don't complain about food to the staff but I literally could not eat their food. When I go to rank a restaurant, I try and think, what went wrong and what could have gone better? I don't want devalue my 5 star reviews! Well, this place was great, and I couldn't find something to complain about if I wanted to. Service was friendly and fast, servers were knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make everyone in our party comfortable, including bringing out blankets for a couple of them. Speaking of which, we ate outdoors in the tent area, which was great. It was heated, and well spaced out. I went this morning to try the eggs Benedict, it is an odd dish, with the addition of apple butter. The apple butter does not really go with Hollandaise. And they used bacon rather then Canadian bacon, which just does not work IMHO. I may be back again to try the Monti Christo sandwich, not sure. The bacon, canadian bacon, burger, and the fried egg on top was the winner compared to all the other burgers. They hand cut their chips and made to order so it definitely is fresh. Plenty of great beers on tap, yummy drink concoctions and one pretty cool fire pit on the back patio. The decor is nothing to gawk at. Simple. Not a huge place. Decent patio. Awesome 90s rock music playing. Yeah...I was singing along, so what. DRINKS: On par. No complaints. Good variety. SERVICE: No complaints here either. They are fairly prompt, accommodate to larger groups, and professional. FOOD: Both good and bad. Here's the scoop. They are supposedly known for their homemade chips with gorgonzola sauce. Not impressed. My chips were so soggy I could barely eat them. The sauce quickly became cold and tasted pasty. They did not live up to the hype. The burger I tried...the Fireside burger....total fat kids paradise. Cheese, bacon, ham, egg...the works. I couldn't even eat the whole thing. It was freakishly good....and messy. Cheddar cheese bun?! Heck yes. For the $13 I paid for my burger I wish I could have had fries vs. chips. Next time I'll know to opt for a salad. Oh....and did I mention on their Happy Hour menu (and ONLY their HH menu) that they have waffle dipped chicken strips...yeah. No joke. Thems is good. We went here for dinner on a weeknight. The bottom line is that the food is fantastic, the restaurant is a little odd, and the service is a disaster (but friendly). This place is not really equipped with a waiting area. When we got there, all the tables were full but the waitress told us one of the tables were leaving so she could seat us in a couple minutes. It ended up being closer to 15-20 minutes, and we had to awkwardly stand around right next to the bar where people were eating while we waited. When we were seated, I noticed there was a pile of boxes randomly piled in the corner behind a booth. It almost looked like trash that they didn't have anywhere to put, so they stacked them behind a booth in the dining room. I'm pretty low maintenance about restaurants, but this was unsightly. The waitress promptly took our drink order and my friend ordered a wheat beer. About 5 minutes later she brought him a sample of another beer (an IPA) and said the keg had blown so try this. We were confused, but assumed she brought it to tide him over while they changed the keg. She came back 10 minutes later and asked if he liked it. He said "not really," and she replied "well I'm not changing the keg anytime soon so...." She then took our food order and ended up bringing him a beer menu, but never returned to see if he wanted another beer. The food came out really fast (probably within 8 minutes) and was awesome! I wasn't particularly hungry so I ordered a cup of their soup (Parmesan potato bacon) and a side salad. They had a ton of delicious sounding dressings, and I went with the honey rosemary balsamic and oil. The salad was fresh and the dressing had a great flavor. The soup was incredible! It was creamy and had chunks of bacon and potato in it. Two of my friends ordered burgers and said they were excellent. Our waitress disappeared until it was time to pay. When she brought the check, the beer my friend never received was on it, so we had to flag down the bartender to have it removed. We also asked the waitress to split the bill (we had two couples who just had entrees so it would have been an easy split) and she seemed sort of confused by the request and told us to write what what we wanted on each check and then disappeared again. She never returned so we scrounged up cash and handed the check to the bartender on the way out. The food really is incredible (definitely 5 stars) and it's worth dealing with the oddities of the restaurant and the subpar service. There is a lot of potential for this place to be excellent with a couple changes, though. read more

I usually hit this place up for lunch. It's a 21+ only establishment that's located in the back of a strip mall. Look for the 7-Eleven or Si Señor's as a landmark for the "Riverwood Center" or you may end up driving past it. It looks dumpy from the outside, but that's because that whole strip mall looks dumpy. The inside is clean and inviting as well as the patio area. The food is excellent here and my favorite hands down are the homemade chips with the gorgonzola sauce. Other favorites include the Steakside Wrap, the scotch eggs, and their burgers. The service there is very fun and friendly but can be a bit on the slow side because they seem a bit understaffed at times, especially during the lunch rush. Of course, the service is faster by leaps and bounds compared to that awful McMenamins that used to be at this place's location. Fantastic margaritas, very delicious food, and wonderful staff. What a gem!!!! Party of three on a Thursday night. The happy hour wine was good, the gin & tonic very good, and the margarita almost perfect. I got there first, so I made small talk with one of the servers. His name is Houston. He explained that all of the servers are also all bartenders, so no waiting for a drink to be made. The only down side we discovered to this process is that the server who made the first gin & tonic asked what kind of gin so the drink was made with a high quality gin. The second one didn't ask and we just assumed it meant we were going to get the same thing, but it was clearly not the same quality. I got Houston's attention and he very sweetly and graciously took the drink away and made a new one with the better gin. Problem solved! THAT, my friends, is how customer service is done, even when there's a bump in the road. Houston also explained to me that the food is scratch-made in house. One in our party had the happy hour street tacos and she loved them so much, she placed an order for a second plate ($5 for two). Another in our party got the rosemary chicken and she really liked it. I had the other chicken dish (lightly breaded with a light lemon sauce). It was all super tasty. Can't wait to come back with my husband because they actually have two of his favored beers on tap and the burgers look amazing! I would say that this bar isn't going to win any decor competitions any time soon, but I can overlook a torn booth cushion because the drinks, food, and service were so exceptional, and I love that there is also outdoor seating, too. On rainy days there is no fireside. This is one confused place. Is it a wine bar? Is it a sports bar. Is it a pub. Is it a fine dining. Actually this place is trying to be all of these and is failing at all. The menu is "fine pub food" and the place clan be nice except you have several televisions blaring at you from all directions. I tried the fireside burger and it was a beast--so much meat! I nearly had a heart attack and only ate 1/3 of it and my hubby ate the rest. I liked how juicy it was but then the bottom bun was totally disintegrated from the juice and weight of the burger. I wouldn't eat it again but it was good to try. So close to 5 stars. If only my husband would of said something when he received his lunch I am sure the staff would of fixed it. We were just about finished and I decided to try one of his fried chips that he order as a side. Something definitely went wrong. They were so soggy. No crisp to them at all. I asked my husband "Were they good when you go them?" He said no. The chips were totally soggy and greasy from the time they arrived. Bummer. We arrived around 12:30 and every seat in the house was taken except 3 bar stools. There was a party of 6 waiting for a table and they were still waiting when we received our lunch. As we sat down we were greeted by a cheerful bartender, giving us menus and asking what we would like to drink. My husband and beer! He tried 5 and the bartender offer another. One of her favorites for him to try also. He really liked the selection he tried, in other words most gave me that beer face..... so I went with a Spanish Coffee. It was terrific and I like how they flavor their whipped cream. My husband had a burger, rare, and it was perfect. The chips we won't mention again. I had the breaded chicken sandwich with sweet potato chips. When the server said it had cinnamon on them ( and I like cinnamon ) I was a little reluctant. If I didn't know it had cinnamon I wouldn't have known. They were like sweet potato fries except cut into chips. Very good. I took half of my sandwich home because it was too much to eat. The chicken was in the form of chicken strips. I am sure they are hand breaded in house. Breaded in Panko. I find most places that offer breaded items are extremely salty. I am sad... Why? There aren't more than 5 stars.. My wife and I quite often are caught between my wives vegetarian diet, and my "vegetables arent food, food eats vegetables" approach to eating.. We wanted to go out for dinner, and in going through our normal list of restaurants, we just couldn't come up with one that sounded great.. On a whim, we decided to try out the Fireside Grill... Boy were we pleasantly surprised.. A bit of a wait, but 15-20 minutes on a friday night at 6pm is perfectly reasonable. The hostess was courteous, and the was taking drink orders while we waited. The house drinks have humorous names, but more importantly were well made, and strong. The staff was hopping, and were apologetic, but when people are holding tables after they paid, is no ones fault.. They offered bar seats, but we declined. Everyone was friendly, and seeing the food being put to the line, I was getting hungry. Side note, the iced tea, was clearly fresh brewed.. I wasnt planning on drinking, and little things like crappy tea can ruin a meal for me, not here.. great tea.. I had the scotch egg, my wife had the gnocchi sticks.. Both were amazing, perfectly cooked, and CLEARLY made in house. More importantly, the sauces on both were freshly made, and tasted amazing.. The scotch egg was exactly what i was hoping for, a carnivores delight, egg surrounded by savory deep fried to perfection, the dipping sauce was a mayo based sauce was perfect.. The chef's take on "bar food" ie, mozzarella sticks, was amazing.. mozzarella wrapped in gnocchi dough, deep fried, with a fresh marinara... well done chef.. excellent take on typical bar fair When looking over the menu, one thing that I notice was the statement on how the filet would NOT be cooked.. Nothing over medium!! Well said.. I had the rib eye, cooked perfectly to medium rare. Seasoned perfectly.. the sides of beans and salad.. were, well vegetables :) but they were cooked perfectly as well. My wife had the smoked mac and cheese. freshly made cheese sauce, another rarity at a "bar/grill". But then it happened.. and man did it happen.. the "bar tender' came over to refill our drinks, (I was still on iced tea) but remember, all the staff was working everywhere, no idle hands anywhere. We started talking, and a bottle on the topshelf had my eye.. Turned out to be a irish whiskey.. we started talking further, about what bourbons and ryes I like, and if I had any in mind.. I said, simply, one that I hadnt tried before.. He asked if I had a price range, he said he had something in mind, a Willet XCF that was not typically imported into Oregon. Perfect, and he SERVED IT PERFECTLY.. meaning, with the ice on the side, so I could add it as I needed it.. To be honest, I'd go back for the steak.. I'd go back, even if my food was horrible, just so my wife could get a great meal... But to be able to get a great steak, a great meal for my wife.. And they have an amazing whisky selection!!! ill be back many times in the future.. When I left, I wanted to say thanks to the person who recommended the whiskey, turns out he was Dave the owner.. Cooked the way I requested, medium well and served with "house chips" sliced Yukon potatoes drizzled with Gorgonzola cream sauce. They were light, crispy and not greasy. My husband and I went to dinner with another couple, it was our first time here. The is a big deck with a fire pit. There is ample seating and they are properly staffed. The interior is a little lounge more than restaurant, more of an observation than complaint. The chips with Gorgonzola sauce is not to be missed, the sausage appetizer was also good. I had the Reuben on gluten free bread with a salad. The bread was instantly soggy, as gf bread can be so I just peeled it off and enjoyed the tasty meat and cheese. The menu is very gluten free friendly. I had their chard by the glass which was good. Overall the service was prompt and attentive. The food was good and we enjoyed our meal. The overall ambiance was not my favorite for a place for dinner, and the music was not great, but I'm sure if I had said something they would have changed it. read more

I tried the fireside burger and it was delicious! The fries is like none other, it's got a super nice crunch and kinda oily.

Service was OK, but clearly they were overwhelmed on a Saturday afternoon. One bartender, female, was scrambling while the second (or maybe the bar back - young guy with man bun) really didn't know what to do to help which was frustrating the others who were obviously slammed. Food was good! No denying that!! Everything I saw come out, including my food, looked really tasty. My sandwich was delicious!! And the mixed drinks looked like nice fat pours. I didn't order one, but I watched them make a couple for the guy next to me at the bar. I might go that route next time. My main gripe is the full price for a *cough* "pint" of beer. You're not fooling anyone with the pint glasses that are an inch thick of glass at the bottom and noticeably smaller overall. These are NOT 16oz glasses, so why are you charging me $5.75? Ditch these lame glasses and get REAL pint glasses. This charade appears deceptive and rather insulting! read more
