I'm so glad I gave this place a second chance! The last few visits have been great. Good cocktails (even NA), good food! The service is a little slow and I wish parking was easier but that's not their fault. The outdoor seating is nice when the weather is good but not too hot. I came in twice when they had just opened and I was not impressed. The food seemed very mediocre and didn't justify the high price tag. I avoided coming back for years. I'm happy to say that the food quality is much improved and I've enjoyed my last several meals here. read more

What a delicious brunch spot on a lovely Sunday morning. We decided to sit outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. We had family visiting from out of town and their menu looked like it had a nice variety of items for everyone. Service was excellent and very attentive. The macadamia nut white chocolate chip pancakes were super delicious. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and we had a great visit catching up. Had a reservation then we struggled to get the inside table we requested when we arrived. Apps were ok, Caesar salad dressing left me wanting some anchovies or anything with more punch as the dressing was thin and bland. Halibut risotto was ordered by 4 of 7 people at the table and while the risotto with few bits of crab bits was delicious, every order of halibut around the table was cooked like chicken - way too dry and lacking seasoning. My cousins and I meet every few months to try new restaurants or share old favorites, and this time none of us had been to Tavern on Kruse -- so it felt like the perfect pick for lunch. We had both done our "menu homework" ahead of time and were joking about how excited we were to try the fried chicken... only to realize it isn't offered on the lunch menu. A bit of a letdown. They were also making menu changes while we were there, so a few other items we wanted weren't available either. The restaurant itself is divided between the bar area and a dining corridor. Based on the reviews we read beforehand, we expected something a bit warmer and more inviting. The vibe felt a little flat for midday. Service was friendly but not very attentive. Our food was dropped off, but no one checked in afterward, which made the experience feel a little disconnected. As for the food -- it was fine. I came here for a meeting with some vendors, and wow--these folks know how to pick a restaurant! We started with two appetizers: the Grilled Marinated Prawns and the Savory Goat Cheese Torte. The prawns were covered in a delicious harissa sauce and cooked to perfection--honestly, they might be the best prawns I've ever had. I loved them so much that when I ordered my gnocchi and was asked if I wanted to add a protein, I got excited at the thought of having those amazing prawns again--and that's exactly what I got. No regrets! My only minor disappointment was the crostini served with the goat cheese torte--it was so hard, I could barely bite into it. If you'd like to keep your dental work intact, I recommend doing what we did: ask for softer bread. Our server happily obliged, and the whole table agreed it was a much better pairing. The rye bread with mushrooms was the star of the show. As someone generally averse to mushrooms (dinner guest my man writing), this dish was downright pleasant. Back to me, Yelp Elite here, the ambiance inside Tavern on Kruse is shocking for the busyness of the area, it's hip, easy and a good place to relax. Unique light fixtures and many rainbow liquor bottles elevate the space. The bartender was our server she was kind and working hard at the Monday bar. Food: the Caesar salad is serviceable, the focaccia croutons tasty, the hangar steak with a blueberry Demi-glaze is tasty but we craved a bit of salt. It came with a lovely potato pavè. Texture dream. Again the rye bread is fanatic with shrooms galore. The Mac n cheese was truffle oil forward, we finished it but it was disappointing. All in all we liked this restaurant and the vibe and will come back- hopefully to try the ravioli. read more

Came here for a work dinner and was really impressed overall. The staff were really accommodating and understanding when our reservation for 10 became only 5. They sat us at our main table early for drinks while waiting to see who will show up. The wine was great and the food was delicious. We tried the Brussels sprouts and goat cheese torte appetizers and I decided to go pescatarian and have the salmon because it just sounded so good. It did not disappoint. We shared some of the espresso mousse but I was not prepared for the embedded espresso beans. Those kept me up! Overall, great restaurant in LO/Tualatin area. Located in Lake Oswego, right off Kruse Way, this tavern has ample patio seating with umbrellas as well as indoor seating. Parking is a bit tough as the parking lot is shared by too many other restaurants but we were able to eventually find something. There is no street parking so be warned. The receptionist asked us if we had reservations, but we were walk-ins. She seemed a bit scattered and disoriented as she was trying to figure out if they had any outside seating which they had plenty of. We came for happy hour so I expected tables to be fuller even after we sat down but it really wasn't. Our waitress, Kerri (sorry if I spelled this wrong) was excellent. In fact one the best waitresses I've had in awhile. She sat us down, got us water immediately and cane back shortly while we decided what we wanted off the happy hour menu. This is a place with happy hour food and drinks which I love. I ordered the pork belly tacos and garlic rosemary fries, but asked about the cider which she recommended and she was right. Not too sweet and not too dry. My partner ordered a Fire in the Sky mocktail. I love that they have so many alcoholic and no-alcoholic drink options. Really, just a great happy hour menu. Kerri came and checked on us several times throughout the process and even allowed us to sit a bit after we were done eating. The fries were well season and delicious and not overcooked or burnt but perfectly crispy. The pork belly tacos, unfortunately, were boring and bland and the pork lacked any flavor. The kimchi helped but it wasn't enough. The cream sauce they used made the tacos sweet. I'm usually ok with fusion tacos, but this was just not good. I cannot recommend the pork belly tacos. This doesn't mean I wouldn't come back, but I think they have a good menu and good service, but I won't get that dish again. I did see someone there with ribeye bites and fries and that looked great so maybe that next time. read more

How to write this--- the ambience is great, food amazing and service sometimes a 5 and sometimes a 2. This week for my birthday they came by and the first time just asked one person at the table for her drink order, than came asked for everyone else and took appetizer order......................35+ minutes later ............ FINALLY took main order.........bizarre. Food was amazing and friendly service and I know they were busy but not unusually busy. Asked for desert order............. A great space with an inside eatery and a great patio area. However don't think that you're just going to walk in... it is constantly full and I recommend making reservations. It was a beautiful day to sit outside soak up some wonderful fresh air enjoy a drink or two (non alcoholic for me) and listen to the live music they had here. The service was good the, food was great and the vibe awesome! I had the muscles... they were in a garlic butter sauce that was great for dipping the bread in. Fantastic service, vibrant ambiance, and unforgettable food! We chose Tavern on Kruse for Father's Day because it's one of the few local spots with live music, which we love supporting. The indoor space feels almost like an outdoor patio thanks to its retractable walls, but we opted to sit outside to better enjoy the jazz band and balmy weather. They happily accommodated us. Having dined here once before, we hoped the service would still impress, and it did not disappoint. Our server, Christina, was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was the real star. We started with a glass of wine and the Woodland Mushrooms on Grilled Rye Bread. I'm not usually a rye fan, but this small plate was a sensational blend of earthy flavors, textures, and visual appeal--definitely a keeper! For entrees, the King Salmon was perfectly cooked with a rich flavor, while the Artichoke & Feta Ravioli offered a creamy, tangy delight. It is right on a cute patio area that I would guess they use on summer days (and I plan to test that theory next summer!). Stopped in for lunch around 1pm on a Friday. Must have hit the lunch rush as the parking lot was packed. Way too many compact car spots in parking lot...they seemed to be the only ones left. Located in a strip mall. Entered the restaurant and was greeted by hostess who informed us there were only high top bar 'communal' seats left. We told her we preferred regular table seating and she wasn't sure how long the wait would be. She checked with a server and one of her tables was paying their bill. She then said a party was more than 10 minutes late for their reservation, so we could have their table. In total, we waited for about 5 minutes for a table. Not bad for it being super busy and not having a reservation. They menu was concise with a nice variety of options. We opted for the grilled Alaska king salmon and fried brussel sprouts with added chicken. Both meals were tasty and fresh. The brussel sprouts were cooked nicely with a green goddess dressing. I will opt for shaved parmesan instead of the manchego next time as I don't care for the taste of sheep's milk cheese. The salmon dish was served with a fall vegetable gratin, which was yummy. We were too full for dessert...something to try next time! Our server was friendly and attentive. It was pretty noisy when we were seated, but as people cleared out, it became more enjoyable. Both sides of the restaurant are open, so it can be extremely loud. Some partitioning may be beneficial in keeping the noise down between parties. The outdoor dining area looks nice too. May have to come back during nicer weather to experience it. Overall a nice first time visit. The food was satisfying and service friendly. Would definitely recommend and return. read more

Discovered this gem tonight. An ambiance of class and a culture of world class guest service is obvious as the restaurant is beautiful & clean and the team is wonderful and accommodating. A fine place for dinner however the food and service don't seem to match up to what one expects for the image they portray as a high end restaurant. We were in a group of ten; the service was fine. They were at times attentive however there were misses. I expect for the waiter to pour the glasses of wine for everyone when you are buying $150 bottles. Instead, after the usual tasting for the person who ordered the bottles, empty glasses were just placed on the table and the bottles left on the table. Second, they removed our appetizer plates and dirty silverware (customary) but didn't bring us replacements. Dinner was served and I had to get up to find someone to bring us clean forks. The highlight of the dinner were excellent appetizers. As for the main course my duck breast was overcooked and the accompaniments were bland. My wife's steak was overdone as well. How had I not visited her in the past? I've been to this mall in the former Parson Farm many times. I guess I never ventured down to this end as it's often congested. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I really wanted to sit out back where it was shaded but it looks like after 1 pm you are inside or out in the sun fighting for umbrella space. Inside is nice and I enjoy their music but with that and other diners talking it would have been impossible to talk so I asked and got reseated. Lunch was good we had the chicken sandwiches. Very tasty. The side salad also good. A little wine to go with the meal was perfect. The service was prompt and efficient they attended to our needs but were not intrusive. This place is great for Happy Hour. I like all their food but it's overpriced. I know they probably have crazy overhead but they are missing a lot of business because of the prices. That's why I only go during HH. Also, this is not the restaurants fault but the parking lot there is horrible. Luckily for me I can walk there but I won't when the weather is bad. read more

We had reservations for Mothers Day, table for two was next to hostess station with a curtain barrier that kept blowing over our table when the door opened, we asked for a different table but they said all were reserved.
