What kind of a business owner passes along vendor issues to their customer? This one! I was on a year contract. Contract ended. I attended this morning through ClassPass (signed up on the app, attended class), and I get this crappy email from the owner (see below). She informed me she would charge my credit card for $28.61 (she did!) - my card is on file only because of my previous contract. She sent me an even longer email explaining more or less that ClassPass isn't great to work with. Not my problem. ClassPass told me that the Fitness Lab never told them they wanted to be removed. From Dillon, the owner: Thank you for attending our 6am class this morning. It's always great to have you here. Unfortunately, we are no longer working with ClassPass and I am not sure how you were able to register for a class. I have contacted them and will let them know they need to refund your credits. We have not had sessions available since April. You may want to follow up with Classpass on your end and ask them to refund your credits. You will be charged for your session at our regular drop-in rate. read more

I normally hate sweating, but the workout out I get as a result from the Fitness Lab is well worth it! Every time I come here, the workout is different. My favorite instructor is Rachel, so I've only signed up for the classes she leads. She's friendly, always accommodating to injuries or limitations, and just really sets an encouraging tone for the class! The classes really work on a variety of objectives, so I feel like every muscle gets tested through a combination of strength, conditioning and cardio workouts. The classes are diverse as well, beginner friendly and could be adjusted to be more challenging. I would definite recommend this studio! read more

For the first 30-odd years of my life, I dreaded exercise. I hated gym class in school. I didn't participate in team sports. I was one of those people who'd sign up at gyms, go a few times, and then never go back. I never understood what people meant when they talked about getting endorphins from working out because I never experienced them. I simply have never been a strong or athletic person, and I guess I thought I was ok with that. Until I found The Fitness Lab. I first joined as part of the 21 Day Fitness Challenge. All I wanted then was to get myself in shape for a trip to Australia. But I got so much more. For the first time in my entire life, I wasn't making excuses not to work out, I was actually making excuses TO work out. The trainers know you and are invested in your progress and success. The other members are friendly and encouraging. I don't ever skip class because I know people will actually notice my absence - and that's a huge motivator; just being noticed and remembered. I've built muscles at The Fitness Lab. I've increased my strength at The Fitness Lab. I've lost weight at The Fitness Lab. But most importantly, I've created lifelong friendships, fostered a commitment to my own fitness, and finally found those "endorphins" everyone always raves about, all because of The Fitness Lab. read more

Even though I live in the San Francisco Bay area, I've had the good fortune of attending a handful of workout sessions at The Fitness Lab. My best friend is a member here and because I travel frequently to Seattle on business, she's taken me every chance I've had. Let me tell you, each time, it's kicked my butt (in the best way possible!). It's a very welcoming environment, fun, good energy, clean and all the trainers are knowledgable and friendly. I have a knee issue and they made great recommendations for modifications and checked in with me throughout the workouts. The Fitness Lab offers circuit classes, and small group training for all fitness levels, in a non-intimidating and supportive environment. The classes are diverse and challenging, I'm always surprised how fast an hour goes by, which is often not the case when working out. The coaching available from nutrition and personal training, and the monthly challenges offered help you achieve your fitness goals. I purchased the 21 day trial for $99 and tried to make the most of the 21 days! I thoroughly enjoyed the classes I was able to attend (Body Revolution -- mostly evenings with Megan, one class with Bailey and Met Con, also with Megan) and loved the two personal training sessions with Dillon. I love working out and am okay/decent shape from workouts on my own, but was looking for classes that incorporated mobility, interval training, body weight work, etc., and exercises I might not think to do on my own -- this place had it all! Sometimes I just don't want to think while at the gym and this really allowed me to follow instructions and focus on the exercise at hand and not worry about what to do next. The personal training sessions were by far my favorite and I really wish I could afford 1-2 of these a week! Dillon seemed to really be able to gauge my current fitness level and push me, without going over the top. I've worked with a handful of trainers in the past and this is not an easy task, most of the time I felt like it was a workout I could've done on my own (which is always disappointing when you're looking for something more with a trainer), but this was not the case with Dillon. Also, the classes seemed to be a good mix of folks at a more beginner level and others who have worked out for quite some time. The beauty of these classes is you can really push yourself for your specific fitness level. I really appreciated that. All that said, I do have one suggestion and this is the *only* reason I bumped it back from 5 to 4 stars. I had a difficult time making the classes (so much so that it'd stress me out). The first morning class is 6am and last evening class is 6:30pm. Perhaps I'm the exception, but I have to be at work by 8am (with a 40 min commute) and in order to make the 6:30pm class, I needed to be sure I left the office at 5 on the dot and the 6am finished just a bit late for me to get to work on time. I hope as the gym grows they're able to add an earlier and later class (maybe a 5am, and a 7pm?) Unfortunately, due to my schedule at the moment, I won't be joining for at least a few months, but I hope by the time I'm ready to join, they've extended the hours a bit to accommodate a wider variety of schedules. read more

Dillon and her team offer an accessible and friendly way to jump in and work toward fitness goals. The staff and members are very welcoming and have helped me move through the typical resistance and intimidation that comes up when starting something new. I started with the 21-day challenge, which was a great way to get established in a routine. I came in nursing and injury and got feedback and support through 1:1 and small group training about how to gain strength and work within my limits. I recently completed the 6 week challenge through The Fitness Lab, Seattle. I thought the workouts were challenging and helped build muscle. I unfortunately, encountered some issues with the organization of the program. I felt a bit on edge and discouraged by the owner. She didn't seem to learn my name until about the 4th week which was unwelcoming. I was sent lean-down challenge emails on the wrong weeks/days which made them feel disingenuous and unorganized. Most importantly, obstacles that had been specifically discussed during one-on-one meetings were forgotten and mixed-up with other clients. This was frustrating. It marginalized my efforts especially, since I had been coming into the gym 3+ times/week and had paid $500 for the program. They can be fickle but if instructors take to you, you may have a more positive experience than I did. read more

Went there for class pass for body revolution and due to heavy traffic was five minutes late. For first time users of the gym you always have to fill out paperwork but it's usually a one page waiver that takes 1 min to sign. Rachel told me it was too late to jump in and said I couldn't work out. I've been to over 50 gyms in the Seattle area with class pass and they let you jump in late. They understand that work and traffic can be hard sometimes to start exactly on time. Won't ever go back. Going to write my feedback to class pass as well. read more

Great gym, trainers, clientele, and member perks! Circuit training/cross fit type classes but not as intimidating and totally do-able for the average person like me. You will definitely get a good workout though and you will sweat. Small class sizes allow for more one-on-one help as needed. The staff is great at modifying any exercise to accomodate for injuries. High intensity, fat burning exercises have allowed me to gain a lot of muscle strength and lose weight too! So happy I found this place. read more

a really incredible place to train. I met Dillon( the owner) 3 years ago and I would never go anyplace else . She created a very methodical plan to increase my strength and endurance and then customized it as we went along. Eventually I added the group classes which are built for different levels of fitness and you go as hard as you can as long as you can.....eventually everyone gets stronger together! I have been working out with Dillon and her team for over a year now. I started off with her program "the healthy bride" before my wedding and she was able to change my body in only 1 month. I felt great on my wedding day and look wonderful. I decided to continue working out with Dillon and have now lost 12 pounds and able to keep it off. I enjoy the variety of classes and how she offers different times throughout the day. Her personal training session are always a blast and she even has a 30min lunch hour workout for when I am unable to make it to class in the evening. I started out working with Scott through a recommendation from a great friend. Scott is a different kind of trainer. Different as in good different. I've trained with trainers in Bally's and 24 hour fitness. They don't compare with Scott. He trains people with all types of different goals and age. He know what he's doing and what he's talking about. His goal is to help you get to your goal but still maintain your lifestyle and how you want to live. He wants you to enjoy it and like the whole experience. Of course, there are limitations to things. If you want to lose weight, you can't eat fast food all day, everyday and expect results. He find alternates for you without depriving yourself of what you like. I had a trainer from Bally's that told me I had to eat sandwiches and salads everyday and no sugar for 3 months that I was training him. That worked for the 3 months until I start eating REAL again. I know this will sound cheesy but he's not only a trainer but he's also a friend. He wants to know what interests you and to help you take your interest and implement that. He likes to get everyone involve in monthly activities to just have a good time like hikes and bbqs. It's not just working out in the gym all the time. We even worked out around Greenlake on the weekend! It's always a pleasure working out with Scott. It never felt rigid and it's never the same routine. I saw results within 2 months and never did I feel like I was being deprived. He's definitely an awesome trainer and if you're wanting to get in better shape but want it long term and be healthy, try Scott out! He IS the best! read more

At first, I was intimidated, because Dillon doesn't mess around, but in time I came to learn how fiercely on my side she really is. Now, I LOOOVE the Fitness Lab. I am a mother of 3, and after my last daughter was born just 6 months ago i was in terrible shape. Dillon helped me regain strength & flexibility, and best of all I've lost 20+ pounds. The classes are more like personal training because she really does tailor everything and makes sure you challenging yourself while at the same time works around injuries or other issues. I started training with Mike Seilo about a year ago and man what a great decision. I was looking for someone who understood the science of training vs. just going nuts with weights, etc. He was referred to me by a good friend and from the first meeting I knew the connection was solid. He spent the first session discussing my goals, areas of my body that were injured or posed potential problems, and put together a very detailed weekly training regimen. I work with him every Monday. He's a great guy! Always on time, prepared, and articulate when it comes to what we're working on for the hour. He pushes me as hard as I want to and doesn't let me skimp on reps, etc. He's incredibly professional and by far the best trainer I've worked with. The gym is pretty solid. My only complaint is the sound system is sub par. Definitely needs to be upgraded. Other than that, it's a great gym!! read more

I've been working out with Dillon and the team for almost 2 years now and I love it! The classes are a great way to exercise with a group, and the workout changes every time so I never get bored. I really appreciate the circuit training approach because we're always moving from one exercise to the next and it's a great whole body workout for both cardio and strength. Since I've been going, I've gotten fitter, stronger, and leaner. The trainers are also really good about coming up with modifications in case you've got old injuries or just haven't worked out in a while. It's an extremely supportive environment were everyone is pushed to do their best but you're never judged. I'm really happy I started going and plan to keep going for a long time. read more

I haven't yet used the inside facilities of the Fitness Lab. (They have a new large space in lower Fremont.) However, I have been attending a Fitness Boot Camp with one of their trainers, Scott. He is a good mix of motivating and friendly in the small group setting. I have observed other boot camps that are quite hard core & too "military" like. Scott gets your heart rate up and focuses on different strength training techniques but he doesn't let you take the easy route during the workout. Before I started working with Scott I had the typical gym membership and found I really went 15-20% of the time. Now I get going early in the morning 3 times a week and get a guaranteed good workout. His classes have real people with "real" body types and after talking with several fellow classmates I have heard amazing results (pounds lost, better endurance, overall better health.). Money well spent working with Scott especially if you need a bit of extra motivation. Scott's business is Fit by Focus and he posts the daily workouts on his blog. read more
