I appreciated the honesty when the person who picked up said that they couldn't guarantee it since it really depends on the keyboard problem, but would be happy to take a look and let us know. I dropped off my kiddo's laptop, and they were able to fix it after receiving replacement parts. It's like new, and she is so happy! Everybody was super courteous, professional, and there are also a lot of good restaurants nearby that we were able to try out since we're not usually in this neighborhood. I just got back from my second trip to the Fix Hut. The first time was a couple years ago to get my iPhone battery replaced. It was way out of warranty, being an older model so Apple would have done it. Peter took care of it real quick. This time around I needed my MacBook Pro fixed. Stupidly, I spilled a whole mug of cold brew coffee on my relatively new M1 MBP. It was soaking with coffee. I tried to flip it over as quickly as possible to let it drain out, but the Mac turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I was devastated. A stupid mistake with such an expensive piece of hardware. I wasn't able to get an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar that day, and who knows how long it would take them to look at, let alone, repair my Mac. So, I called up the Fix Hut, and luckily the crew were able to take care of my issue that day. Within just a couple weeks, I'm back to working on my Mac as if nothing happened. Truly amazing work by Travis. The alternative would have been months and potentially hundreds of dollars wasted getting a replacement from Apple. I'd rather that money go to the FH. They asked for my phones passcode when replacing the battery. I made an appointment and expected to wait while it was fixed and then figured we could test the phone after. But the guy said I had to come back later and that he would need the passcode to test it. And I, like an idiot gave it to him. Only after leaving did I realize how bad of an idea that was. He didn't say anything about privacy or give me options. So now I am spending hours changing every password I had stored on my phone, which is a ton. read more

I think it says something that The Fix Hut is earning five stars from me even though they weren't able to fix my phone. For me, it came down to customer service. I was recommended The Fix Hut by the team at Simply Mac when it appeared my phone was beyond their repair abilities, so I dropped by the Alberta location. It took a few days to come to a full diagnosis since they are very busy, but throughout the process Travis was communicative and helpful. I appreciated that he always answered the phone and took time to patiently answer my questions, explaining what was going on each time. He proactively called me with updates and options, too. When it was finally determined that the cost to repair would be greater than purchasing a new phone, I walked away feeling fully informed and comfortable with the decision. I'll definitely be back with any issues I have with future phones, especially to take advantage of their battery pricing. I think we all know that the battery is one of the first things to go on an iPhone, and they offer battery replacement at $50-$75. Travis is very knowledgeable, and friendly, and frankly, I think he may just be a bit of a wizard. He worked some magic on my MacBook, which took a little tumble that caused the retina display to stop working altogether and was able to repair and restore it to excellent condition without breaking the bank. He troubleshot the machine and skillfully repaired it and did it without having to install a new screen so the price came in well under the initial top-end estimate. The work here includes a generous 6-month parts warranty. I have used this warranty once, for an iPhone battery, and it was replaced quickly and without issue. In the past, he has fixed iPhones for me and battery or screen repair is a fair price and usually completed same-day. Fast and did exactly what they said they would do for the price they quoted...iPad is back in business

Some of the keys on my husband's MacBook Pro were sticking/broken. Of course we took it to Apple first, but because of a minor blemish on the corner of the screen, the refused to replace the keyboard (it was a known issue and should have been repaired for free) without also replacing the screen, which they wanted $800 to do. So we called around and none of the Apple-certified shops would do it, but one of the shops recommended the Fix Hut. I called and the guy on the phone was super helpful, and he ordered a new keyboard; installation took one day. Cost was $300 (parts and labor). It worked great for about two weeks, and then the laptop stopped charging. We called the Fix Hut, and he said to bring it back in. We did, and he took it all part to check the connections, and then put it back together. He didn't find the issue, but once it was back together, it charged like normal and has been working great ever since (at least five months ago now). While we don't know if the charging had anything to do with the new keyboard, we both really liked that they were willing to open up the laptop again and make sure it was all correct. So I can not only recommend their initial service but also confirm they stand by their 30 day guarantee. We will certainly be using them again when we have need of their services! read more

When my phone suddenly lost all cell reception, I thought it was a simple software issue. I decided to give the Fix Hut's NW location a call, and after a couple of minutes on the phone, the technician recommended I take it by the Albina location, as he thought it was probably an issue with the logit board, which the technician at the Albina location could diagnose better. I did as instructed, and after a couple days of testing, they came back with the bad news that his initial guess was right. Like most people, I'm not a fan of bad news, especially when it comes to my cell phone. However, I was impressed that they were able to accurately diagnose the issue with a few questions on the phone, and I appreciated the technician's transparency when he broke the news to me. Although he could have made a couple hundred dollars off a logit board replacement, he told me that due to the phone's age, buying a new one would be a better investment. He didn't even charge me for the diagnostic, although he took the phone apart, tried switching out antennas, etc! Not only are the Fix Hut people knowledgeable, but I really appreciated that they put my interests before profit. If I ever have to fix a phone again, they will definitely have my business. I took my iPad Pro in because it wouldn't power on, and the start button was smashed in thanks to a defective case. Stupid me didn't have Apple Care, and the Apple store wanted $700 or more to fix it. The Fix Hut fixed the problem for a reasonable price. A week later, I noticed my iPad made a popping sound on one side, where the glass was lifting up above the metal frame. If I pressed on it, it snapped back down, but it would lift up again. I couldn't get a hold of Fix Hut, so I went to Apple to see if it was an easy fix. They said it had not been seated back into the frame properly when it was repaired and that this was also causing color distortion on the screen--but they wouldn't fix it. That night, I dropped my iPad from a low height, and it landed facedown. The glass cracked on the side that was sticking out above the metal edge. I have called Fix Hut a couple of times now and requested a quote to repair it, and I haven't heard back, so I don't think they are going to do it for a reasonable price. I bought a new iPadPro right after that, anyway--with a 2-year Apple Care plan and a different case. read more

Disappointed with their service and follow up. I took my laptop in because it was running hot. They told me it needed a new battery which cost $250. I brought my laptop home and the new battery doesn't last longer than an hour. I've called twice and left a voicemail message each time, but they haven't returned my call. There is nothing like the panic one feels when they wake up to an iPhone that will not turn on. So I rushed to the Fox Hut and managed to arrive 15 minutes before they opened. Surprise, they were already open. I expected the repair would cost a couple hundred dollars but they suggested cleaning it first, maybe it would work. $35 and 20 minutes later I left with my repaired iPhone. Great customer service. My iPhone X had a mysterious dead screen (no physical or water damage) a few months after getting a free new display through an Apple Replacement Program. I was upfront with the Fix Hut about how I'd probably be taking it back to Apple if it turned out the phone needed a new screen, but the Fix Hut's owner was kind enough to open up the phone and see if there was a simple/inexpensive fix like a loose cable as a first step. (He was also skilled enough at opening and closing it back up that Apple didn't mention anything when I sent it back to them.) In the end, the phone needed a new screen, and I was fortunate that Apple stepped up to replace it for free a second time. But if I have any phone issues in the future, the Fix Hut will be my first stop. read more

Kudos to The Fix Hut for taking care of those of us who are hard on our devices! My first repair here was replacing my dying battery on a Pixel 1 phone. They not only had the proper battery in stock, but had it turned around in about an hour for me. Very crucial because I use my phone constantly in my business. The next repair they did was replacing the screen on my iPad: I think this is actually the third screen I've had to put on the device so there's even a few songs in the case. this is the first time I had Fix Hut do the repair, and they had it completed I think within a day or two. To be honest, I didn't actually get any services done here. But this review is for the customer service. I emailed the owner of this company through yelp a little message and within a very short amount of time, he responded with a quote and some details about coming in early for my phone. I responded back and made an effort to leave work in the middle of the day to come see him. I walked into the little shop and immediately loved the aesthetics of it all. It's just a clean and refreshing atmosphere. Plus, I really like the mural he painted. Anyhow, as soon as I opened the door he came from the back. Super friendly and when I asked if it was Pete, he said yes and we shook hands. I let him know I was the person who messaged him on yelp and found him there. (I had read the other reviews of this place and really loved what the yelp community was saying about his quality of service.) When I showed him my phone, he looked it over but let me know that since I had indicated it was an iPhone 6 and not what it actually was which was an iPhone 6s, that he did not have the part and was unable to fix it. He seemed genuinely bummed out and was sorry that he hadn't known and would have let me know. He informed me that the part was still so pricey that he didn't want to charge folks for it or something like that. Anyhow, he gave me some suggestions about going to the Apple store and just as I was about to leave, gave me another tip about making sure that I set an appointment at the Apple store just to not have to wait around. I love supporting local businesses and based on his reviews, I would have definitely trusted him with my devices. He was extremely helpful and as I was leaving he gave me his card. My trusty iPhone 6s finally took too many drops and the screen cracked. Cursed butterfingers. My hands, not the candy bar. The candy bars are awesome. I knew The Fix Hut when it was Wired iRepair, I think there's a review of that place rolling around here somewhere. Well, new name, same awesome. I got a quote via Yelp, dropped by some weeks later and what the quote said went. $100, about an hour. When I picked my phone up I realized I'd forgotten to ask the tech about cleaning out the Lightning port when dropping it off (those things suck up pocket lint like a pants belly button (no, that didn't make a lot of sense, it's not you, it's the words)).
