Wonderful customer service! The sound went out in our 16 year old tv. I already tried following the manual's recommendation to go into the menu and make sure sound was on. Tried reaching out to Best Buy who wouldn't look at our TV that was past warranty. I found Ableman through yelp. When my TV with six years of service life began to show signs of failure, I thought I was going to have to e-cycle it and buy a new one. To my satisfaction, that was not the case! Many of us want to see the service life of our electronics extended. Especially in the current market of cost saving manufacturing or worse, designed obsolescence. Can't recommend them highly enough. Before bringing my TV in, Rex took several phone calls from me about an issue with my tv. He found the error code (bad LED driver board), and recommended simply getting a replacement board to try and fix it myself. I brought in my VCR to be repaired and he said that it was a common problem and quoted me $175 for a repair price. I decided it was worth it and said OK. While we were talking I noted that my machine had no remote and right away he was able to go online and find where I could purchase one and what the model number was. Talking further he said that maybe it was something else that was wrong with the machine he plugged it in and put in a tape and it worked. But it needed cleaning which he did and I was able to take it home for only $35 charge. Its been almost a month and it's worked great ever since. I'm very happy with the service I received. I bought an LCD TV for $250 on Craigslist for the first time, and was scammed. When I turned on the TV, it had major distortion. Feeling defeated after trying some solutions myself, I decided to go to Yelp to find a repair shop. I saw the positive reviews for Ableman, and gave them a call. I echo the super positive reviews, and it was sooooo worth the drive from Portland to Vancouver! I called ahead and explained my issue, and Rex said to bring it on in. After Rex and Gordon gave me a quick run-down of how the back panel works and where the problem likely would be, I left it there for diagnostics and was told I'd get a call in 2-3 days about what they found. I was expecting bad news. Well, that evening I got a call from them that my TV was ready - it had been a minor cable housing issue that they had fixed in a jiffy. Our second Panasonic Plasma TV stopped turning on this month and I was desperate to get it fixed with 4 kids home during the coronavirus pandemic. Rex took a look at it the same day. Unfortunately the main board needed replacing and given that the 60 inch Panasonic TV was 8 years old, and Panasonic no longer sells in the U.S., the part was not easily accessible with a warranty. We were about ready to dispose of the TV when Rex suggested 'reflowing' the main board with a special high heat machine as a last ditch effort. The soldering machine fixed our TV and for $250 we had it back in working order within a week, saving us the cost of a new TV. My 6 year old LG Plasma suddenly went blank. I had a TV repair place come out, I think it was Wolf's? That cost me $85 for them to tell me it was a y-sus board and it would run me close to $500 to repair it. You can buy a new TV for $500 these days. I put the TV on Craigslist for $100, Abelman said they would give me $50. so I hauled the TV over to them and when I got there they said I might as well have them look at the board and see if they could repair it, not replace it. Long story short, they actually repaired the board for $250 and now I have a new TV again. If you have a problem with your TV see if they can fix it before you spend the money on a new one. I've been coming here for four years to periodically replace the lamps on my rear projection TV. He is always totally fair-dealing regarding the lamp warranty: provided you bring it in and let him install the light into the little light box, the work is good for year. Rex and his team of technicians, are about as good as one can find, when your TV takes a nose dive and stops working. Just make sure you enter this place with and mindset of getting a degree in Television Electronics, with an emphasis in the psychology of why these TV's only last 1-3 years. We took our 1 year old 48" Samsung TV (power supply stop working) to Rex and got it back home in lest than 4 days (results may vary). They charged a service fee (Estimate which goes towards the total cost of the repair) and made no promises about the end result, aa they may have had to order the parts to get the job done. These guys are super friendly, super knowledgeable, and quick to educate a customer, about the customers television. And they listen pretty well too (when you tell them whats wrong with your TV). Just don't go in there trying to tell them what to do, how to fix you TV, and how soon you want it back (Stop, listen, and learn). In addition, there are even some cases where it will be more cost effective to jus go buy a new TV, it just depends on what's wrong with your TV. This is one satisfied customer, with 8 flat screens in our large family, and you can best believe that the other seven will visit Rex and his group, should they decide to take a nose dive as well.
