My family and I contacted Thornton Electronics to repair a refrigerator for my elderly parents (70+). Ryan responded and scheduled a consultation. Upon inspection, he stated that the fridge was not getting cold because the control board was not working and that replacing it would resolve the issue. Ryan provided no timeline for when the part would arrive or be replaced. After three weeks of waiting and several follow-up phone calls, Ryan returned and installed the control board. After paying a hefty sum of over $300 for the consultation, a used part, and labor, Ryan said the refrigerator would take 24 hours to get cold again. When the refrigerator did not get cold after 24 hours, we contacted Ryan again, who stated there must be a problem with the compressor. He told us he would order a new compressor and come install it for an additional $400. We hesitated on spending the additional money, but Ryan assured us that this would fix the problem. Ryan arrived onsite, replaced the compressor for the additional $400, and said the refrigerator would work in 24 hours. Once again, 24 hours passed, and the refrigerator did not work. After spending $700 on repairs--half the cost of a new refrigerator--we still did not have a working appliance.
