Didn't know there was a pub inside the Flatiron building that I pass by all the time! You can choose to sit inside or outside. Server was very friendly and checked on us a few times. The cocktails here are more interesting than what you'd expect from a regular pub. I had the blueberry yuzu mojito. The nachos were mediocre as they stuck to the bottom of the serving dish, but I am not expecting superior food at a pub. I'm so glad i came. Its been years since I've been here. They renovated. It used to be dark and dingy, now it's bright and cheerful! Location: Where Eastern and church Street meets and Eastern splits and becomes front! In the basement of the flatiron building. . Parking: It's all pay parking in the area. They are all tiny spots too. High chance of having your car door dinged! Just take transit or get a ride. Will also save you stress from having to make sure you don't run over pedestrians. Being in such close proximity to St. Lawrence market there are a lot of walkers. Kids and dogs too! Getting inside: It's located into the Flatiron building. In the basement. You have to walk down old warn concrete stairs. It's kinda cool really. Decor: I have to admit, it's pretty nice. They've renovated and wow. It used to be dark now it's bright. Even though it's in the basement they have big windows on the north and south side of the building that lets in lots of light. There are booths and tables and booth-table hybrid seating. Comfy and welcoming. Food: Yum! I got the small nachos with spicy beef and my dining companion got the burger with goat cheese, no buns and fries. I'm so glad I got the small nachos. Man, they were huge. They did them great. The chips stayed crispy and the were covered in a tonne of cheese. The spicy beef was a terrific choice. It added that extra kick that just brought them up to great. The only thing.... The guacamole, salsa, and sour cream were poured over the top. That was no bueno. It actually was really messy, covered the beef and made it a bit hard to eat. It also looked kinda weird and unappetising. The burger. She loved loved it. Said she'd get it again in a heartbeat. It looked and smelled great too. She said the fries were perfect. Staff: Omg loved the staff. All of them were great. Everyone made sure we were taken care of. Came here last night! Was originally planning to head to PJ O'Brien, but they happened to be closed on Sunday so came here instead, which was way better than our original plan! They have a lot of Sun specials! My bf ordered the $5 Moosehead 20oz, $7 Spud & Sauce. Which was a choice of any one of them from the menu! We had the Buffalo Chicken one! I had the Industry special House white $4.50 6oz, possibly the best tasting house white i have ever had! Not to mentioned the cheapest! It was a Niagara Chardonnay & Reisling blend! Along with the stuffed Yorkie $8 which was a Yorkshire Pudding drenched in Guiness gravy with mashed potatoes along with bits & pieces of Roast beef which was sooo delicious! My pal, Liz, and I had supper this evening at the Flatiron. It's in the basement of the historic Gooderham Building. Liz ordered a Coronation Chicken Wrap. She said it was good. I ordered the same thing I had at the Falcon and Firkin in Richmond Hill Sunday evening ... Three Little Yorkies and wings with honey garlic sauce, which were good. Good seating, goot staff, decent food and drinks. Nice location a short walk form Yonge and Wellington. Went there on a Sunday night for drinks and to catch some of the All Star NBA action on Valentine's day night. The offer on Moosehead and a few other lagers from the tap and on a few dishes was pretty good. Mac n' Cheese was decent, it was creamy and cheesy...so can't complain. I would have preferred a little more seasoning, seemed bland. But nothing a few sprinkles couldn't fix. The booths are comfy and the television screens are practically everywhere...so you can't miss any action. The staff checks in on you every now and then, and are courteous and attentive. I had a splendid experience here! I came with a couple of my coworkers to celebrate my birthday. First off, I LOVE the location, in the basement of the iconic flatiron building in T.O., accompanied by a little, well-lit patio running along the side of the building. We sat inside, and although it's in the basement, there is still plenty of natural light thanks to the fact that they have huge, open windows....a cute little dog even tried to enter through one at the bar area haha! There are TV screens everywhere as well, so if you even want to just come in for drinks and watch the game, it's perfect! We sat in a little booth, our server was fantastic, very down to earth and personable (I wish I got his name!).To start, we got drinks- I tried the blueberry lemonade which I thought was great, not watered down and not too overpowering- plus an order of fried pickles. The pickles were amazing, great size, and accompanied with a chipotle mayo, an nice and hot too letting me know that they were freshly made :) For my main, I opted for the Sheppard's pie, figured it'd be a safe choice given that this is an English pub. I was not disappointed, it was served in a little skillet/pan, and had some traditional veggies on the side. There was a little container of gravy to top it with as well. Our server even came with some freshly ground pepper! Bonus Points for sure :D I was very satisfied with the pie, no regrets with my choice. Once we were done with our meals, our server came out with a complimentary sticky toffee pie (an English staple) for dessert, and it had a cute birthday candle in it! That made my night haha! Came here with two of my friends and we waited for 30 mins to get our drinks. We asked for straws twice and when they eventually brought them they were not even wrapped which is very unsanitary. The waitress along with the other staff ignored us when we tried to get their attention multiple times. When the food eventually came it was very underwhelming and not worth the long wait. I've not lived in this city all my life, but I remember when this place wasn't a Firkin pub. It used to be a place called Down Under, which was wicked confusing because there was a bar right across the street owned by the same guy also called Down Under. Many's a frustrated night that I'd be trying to find my friends (in the days before cell phones, mind) telling them that we were supposed to meet in the pointy-building one and not the south-side one. Well, now the pointy-building one is a Firkin pub. Taking its name from the Flatiron building that houses it (Up all night thinking that one up, were you?), it's pretty much the same as any other Firkin pub. Except with this one, you're below street level, looking up at the people walking down Front or Wellington. Novel. The patio is a decent size and admittedly, is a good place to spend a summer afternoon on the dodge from work. Speaking of which, it's got WiFi as well, so you're able to bring the office to the pub if you fancy getting out, watching soccer, whatever keeps you away from your desk. The food's okay but certainly nothing to rush over for. Not bad if you're looking for a pint and a friendly server to put it in front of you. read more

Smoking and non-smoking sections and fairly busy on a Saturday night at 8:00 PM, but it emptied out about 9:30 PM. Friendly and attentive wait staff, as well as cute. Atmosphere is nice. The last time we were in, our server was as attentive as she could be since the place was slammed. Their patio is awesome, and the location and space itself is gorgeous. The salads are all pretty decent and the soups are very nice. I just honestly wouldn't recommend anything else on the menu. The food generally tastes mediocre and cheap. I've been 6 times total, and anytime I've ordered anything but the soups or salad, I've felt very unwell. I don't think the place is unsanitary or anything, but I think they use a very low-grade oil and it upsets my stomach (which is, admittedly, sensitive). So if you have a sensitive belly, or are recovering from illness, you may wish to avoid this pub. I will say the bartender I've seen around a few times, (Hannah?) has always been cool. I came here last night with 5 friends since we were in the area watching Superbowl. I've been here before and it didn't disappoint (I'm a fan of the Firkins, especially the Friar and the Firkin over on John St). This visit was brutal. We came at about 1030, and the attitude of the bartender was absolutely poison. We were one of the only groups in the bar, and every step in the process of getting drinks and paying took forever and came with a snarky face. I've never felt less wanted at an establishment in my life. When the drinks came, we all agreed that we wouldn't be staying for another. The bartenders name was Raj. I came here for my first time with a friend who's a somewhat regular - I'm glad I joined her! This place is adorable. The downstairs is cozy and warm - perfect for a night-in when it's chilly outside. We were hungry, so were ordered one of the specials (gyro with a side for $10). It was delicious! I've got mixed feelings on Firkins. As far as pubs go, they are OK. Mesh pub grub and normal beers. This one always seems to have good service. I'm usually a fan of the more eclectic Mcveights up the street but this place is fine for a pint. read more

This cramped little basement pub is very homey. There are a few smaller rooms angled strangely together but it does work in favour to really seem like a proper Irish pub. The booth seats at the back are great! Small with nice plush red seats, perfect for crowding together with a group of friends and chatting. Inside and outside seating is offered catering for a large number of patrons. The drinks menu includes ales, lagers, wines and spirits. This is accompanied by an extensive food menu that includes sliders, platters, all day breakfasts and staple British mains such as burgers and chips and bangers and mash. They also have happy hour offers on pints of lager. As a trio we shared jugs and pints of the house made ale, along with chips, bread and dips to soak it up. Yes, it's a chain. When pubs can be hit or miss, Firkins are reliable and each a little different. There's always a special and almost always a $5 beer on tap. Service is good, the space is clean, and it's a good choice every time. This one's in the Gooderham Building, with the main seating area in the basement overlooking the sidewalk and a large patio area. It's excellent for people watching. When the patio is packed, there are always seats to be had inside. It's not always all tourists, but there are enough of them that it's more entertaining than the TV above the bar. read more

One of my fav haunts in the city. Food is pretty good and the service is above average. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The funny thing about the place is that the front end is all about Irish (Irish servers, Irishy music, etc.) but take a quick peek in the kitchen and it's all Tamils (from south India) with everyone talking Tamil, and listening to loud Tamil music. This is a really cool pub. It's in the basement of the flatiron building, so you're sort of hidden in this lower space but can still see outside through small windows. The Flatiron & Firkin has that traditional pub feel. Hardwoods and leather seats. It's a great casual place to get some food and drinks. I went with five friends, but we had to break up into a table of 4 and 2 because of limited seating. Most of us ordered wings because of a special the night we went. The food wasn't bad, but the service quickly went downhill. The waiter showed up once or twice at the beginning of the meal, but we had to personally find him by the end. And the larger table received their food 20 minutes after one of my friends and I had received ours. It didn't ruin the experience, but made us all question on whether we should ever give the place a second chance. read more

I spent St. Patrick's Day here after work with 8 friends. We got lucky and grabbed a table. Waitress was quick and really friendly despite it being packed, music was great (typical Celtic music for st. Patrick's day), beer was good and green, and finally the pitchers are always a good deal. The Flatiron and Firkin is one of those places I never went when I lived in Toronto and that I try to get to every time I'm back home. Food wise, it's a chain pub so you're not going to find anything you won't find in any other Firkin pub. The staff is great and now that it's been remodeled it's much brighter than it was. Located in the basements of one of the coolest buildings in the city the pub is a very neat design. The sidewalk level windows behind the bar make for an interesting "people watching from the knee down" experience. It's within walking distance of the ACC and Skydome (yeah I know that's not what it's called anymore but i'm not calling it the other thing) so it's good for a pre-game drink (or nine or ten post game drinks if you're a Leafs fan) without having to go to the more crowded further west down front street. read more

Overall the food is decent, normal pub food lacking some real seasoning. I've had the pulled pork at the beaver and the firkin it was bland and whatever "ju" they added might as well have been water. At this particular firkin I had the mushroom swiss burger, it was pretty decent and quite large. If you get fries upgrade to the waffle spicy fries bcuz they are way better than the normal ones. Also ask for the dill sauce it's great and isn't advertised on the menu except with the pulled pork. I've had the same waitress 2 times here, she seems like a walking zombie or maybe she just really hates her job. The chef that brught out our food was more chipper than she was. The service wasn't necessarily bad just....silent?? Overall a good place to sit out on the patio on a nice day for some greasy pub grub. read more
