There is a private dining room that I presume can be reserved for groups, an open air dining room that looks onto a bar with a large pizza oven down at the end by the kitchen. There is also, separately, a craft beer bar room. All of this is accessible from the main entry point, as well as the main store with gourmet food, a cheese cooler, and of course aisles and aisles of wine. My review is only for the lunch pasta which I enjoyed in the main dining area of the store, but the space does deserve a special mention. If you are into wine, what a great way to try some new ones and pick up your own bottle or two to take home! I had the flat noodle pasta with egg yolk sauce, served with a piece of blackened chicken and crusty end of bread. All of it was somewhere between just OK (the chicken and sauce) and good (the bread and noodles). The chicken was very salty (which I like) but you can't undo seasoning if you like less salt in your diet. The table did not not have salt/pepper shakers, nor were they offered. I thought this dish should come with fresh shaved parmesan and/or fresh cracked pepper, but it did not. I think these would have been welcome improvements. Service was fast and friendly, and the staff seem to have a nice demeanor and tempo. Everything was very clean, and the water was fresh and served in a real glass. Once ordered, my food came out of the kitchen in just a few minutes. There was a surprise 3.5% "operational costs" charge on my bill that was not announced on the menu nor was it a credit card fee since no cash discount was offered. I can only assume it's just a way to tack on a few pennies. Overall, as a non-wine-drinker (at lunch), and based solely on the pasta dish that I tried, I have to say it was OK. The food was good, and once we were able to move outside, the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The live music and outdoor seating made for a really nice evening. Unfortunately, the experience getting there left us a little disappointed. We were seated inside immediately, even though there wasn't anyone sitting outside on the patio and the live musician was essentially playing to an empty space. We asked our server if we could sit outside, and she seemed hesitant about the request, which was frustrating considering how empty the patio was. We came early for dinner, so I completely understand if they were preparing for a rush or had reservations coming in, but that didn't seem to be the case. The biggest surprise, though, came when we got the check. We knew there was a parking fee, but having to pay for a minimum of six hours was unexpected. Then we noticed additional harbor and operating fees on the bill. Those extra charges were incredibly off-putting, especially because they weren't something we were expecting when we decided to eat here. What made it even more confusing was the suggested tip amount being calculated after those additional fees were added. We had no problem tipping our server because the service itself was decent, but being encouraged to tip on top of fees rather than simply on the cost of the meal felt confusing and, honestly, a little misleading. I think this restaurant has a lot going for it. If you're looking for good outdoor seating, live music, and a fun atmosphere, I can understand why people enjoy it. But between the initial attitude we experienced, the unexpected fees, and the way the suggested tip was calculated, the overall experience was enough that we probably wouldn't return. Would I recommend it? If the outdoor atmosphere and live music are what you're after, yes. Just go in knowing about the additional costs so you're not caught off guard like we were.
