So I ordered 2 leis back in April for a graduation today (May 18). I get there to pick them up and am told they don't have orchids. Oh but, "They'll be here tomorrow" which does absolutely nothing for the graduation today! They put together a lei (the only one it appeared they had and stuck some blue ribbon in it. They did reimburse me for the cost of the second lei as well as the tip I had left. I'm super frustrated because they had my number and at no time did they call me and say there was a problem. That would've given me more time to find another florist that could MAYBE get something together. Trying to find a florist that can pull off a lei ON THE DAY is near impossible and in a short time frame. This is the first time I've done business with The Flower Cottage, and the last. The flowers were gorgeous. However my husband specifically ordered flowers in colors and a vase that were not red and white for valentines. The flowers were orange,peach, yellow, purple and green shown in a glass vase. His goal was a beautiful every day vase. I received red hearts on white crockery vase. It really distracted from the flowers. I would understand if the flowers were red. It looked odd with the flower colors. I guess they just wanted to get rid of this valentine vase! Ordered a small arrangement for my mom's retirement. I even left a tip. What I ordered vs what I received was misleading. Additionally, the online ordering through their direct site didn't have enough information as to when the arrangement would be ready. I had to call and ask them if it was ready (super annoying). I also design flower arrangements and feel this could have had more flowers and less fillers. (Online it had the words as pictured) even the vase is red and cheap looking. The comment below makes me even more irritated. This seems insensitive and insincere. Offering to do it again was about saving face for your Yelp reputation NOT a genuine apology. You sent me a centerpiece and my sister in law already handed these to my mother. You should have called me and let me know your limitations rather than stealing my money. First time was a hit, second time was a hard miss. They basically gave me a completely different arrangement including the vase and justified it with the substitution policy. I went here because my boyfriend wanted to get flowers to meet my mom, such a gentleman :). I am used to grab and go at Safeway and when I asked my mom where better flowers were, she said nob hill. But luckily my boyfriend insisted on going to a florist, which I have never been for something like this. We walked into the cottage and there were extravagant flower arrangements on the left but they were for someone else. There was a fairly empty fridge but nothing to grab and go although I wasn't thinking of that. A lady, I believe the owner, behind a plexiglass asked if we needed any help and my boyfriend told her what we were looking for. I told her my mom likes pink flowers, I said pink roses, Gerber daisies, then I blanked... but saw a big basket of pink Peonies. My mom and I love those and she said it will be more expensive to include them. So she asked my boyfriend how much he was willing to spend. He told her and said she will make a bouquet within his budget and incorporate pinks and mixed greens. Sounded good to me, she's the expert! She asked if we were okay to wait and we were willing to be patient and walked around the place looking at all the different vases, cards, stuffed animals, and figurines. I like that she said it will be some time and gave us the option to leave and come back. It set my expectations and i know we walked in there last minute and she said they have been busy which is why they didn't have any grab and go bouquets. Someone walked in who ordered a corsage to pick up. She was blown away at how beautiful it was and said her daughter will be so happy because it is exactly what she wanted. We were almost done looking at everything when she called us up and they were ready. They made me so happy, it was beautiful, within our price point, and I know my mom is going to be impressed. My parents were very impressed with the bouquet and meeting the parents went amazingly! Thank you so much Flower Cottage! You are now in our memory and a point of reference for where things are located and where we can find parking at the end of the street.
