I've been going to the Flying G since I was very young, I live right down the street, and if it weren't for them I wouldn't have any idea how to take care of my own horses. They not only taught me how to get the horses ready and ride them, they taught me how to care for them, and keep them healthy. I also went this last summer camp and had an absolute blast with the kids! On nive days we would sit out underneath the covered eating area, and the staff were always out there watching and talking with the kids. There was always one staff member that would go to a local fast food place to get food for the other staff, so the staff was taken care of, if not then the staff brought their own lunch or bought a ramen from the "snack shack." There was always food left over after the lunch day, and at the end of every day when it was pick up time, they'd have a cooler full of milks and juice that the kids could take home, all free of course from the lunch program. There wasn't a single day we didn't have left over drinks, and there were only maybe about 5 days we didn't have leftover food. The horses are all wonderful, and all well trained. The trail rides were fun, and we all had a good time. The staff did allow the kids a chance to get 'sprinkled' on with the hose after riding in the arena. It was summer and it was hot some days, and we had a water container available, so the kids could fill up their bottles, as well as the staff. We would allow the kids to hold the horses while the staff cooled them off at the end of the day with the water hose. We never ran out of fun things to do, and i think it would be a fun experience for any child or adult. They also have advanced camp for people who have been riding awhile and want to get into the psychology of horses. All the staff know what they're doing, and know so much about the different personalities and types of horses. I would recommend this place for any horse lover! read more

I've known the Gaughan family since I was 7 years old. I've been going out to their ranch since a little after it started. They are very honorable people and very friendly. Very easy to get along with. The staff always gets the job done and put the kids care first. The main building(Trinity Grove) is air-conditioned and well stocked with snacks and drinks. During the summer, food is provided for the kids and, coming from the girl who SERVED the kids food, there are always leftovers. They can always come back for seconds or buy a snack from the cafe. The kids are always given the option to bring their own lunches. The eating area is usually outside on a nice day under a veranda with picnic tables. On overly hot days, the banquet hall is open for the kids. The bathroom is well kept and stocked. The staff is always watching over the children and available for extra care or questions a child may have. The horses are well taken care of and all rides are WELL supervised by experienced staff. The trails provide occasional shade and are beautiful- especially during the summer. If ANYTHING goes wrong on trail, there is a walker on the ground to tend to it. Or a staff member will dismount. Well, where to begin! First off, this place was kinda hard to find, becuase us city boys have to use our GPS, and it did'nt work here..haha, but i was pleased with the lady who stayed on the phone with me untill i got on track. I always get lost, and her patience with me was great!! This is a great ranch to take your kids to, to learn to ride horses and have a fun day! There were alot of horses, of all kinds and sizes. My daughter got to ride Misty. Misty was a lil fiesty, but very well behaved, just like my daughter, so they were a perfect match!! We didnt just ride a horse. We had a full day here, they taught my daughter to saddle and unsaddle a horse, put a girdle on, mount and dismount, a few arena lessons, and then we got to ride the trail! We had a blast, then they taught her how to groom a horse. They had a lil competiton at the end of the day for the best and cleanest grooming. And my daughter won!! The staff were nice, and very patient. The only bad thing was we didnt get the full hour- hour and half on the trail. It was more like 30 mins. But there were alot of kids and they did keep the times even with everyone! I highly recommend this ranch and the price was the best i was able to find in and around the metroplex!! My daughter and her friends have been riding at this ranch for years now- We love it! The staff is so great- knowledgeable and professional-the horses are well trained. and the trails are scenic. It is just a great overall experience-there are bible studies and barn classes- It isn't about "competitive" riding- IT is more of a natural approach to riding and understanding horses-and just having a great time and enjoying! There are also Birthday Parties, overnight camps part of the year, riding clubs, trail riding, and arena lessons. Beginner to Advanced- ages 6-17! The best part- The prices! $35 for a full day of camp and on Saturdays-9-4- Cant beat it! Horseback Riding located just south of Dallas/Fort Worth- We come from Plano every Saturday and it is well worth it! Summer Horseback Riding Camps and Holiday Camps are also great! read more

My granddaughter and I spent the day today at the Flying G Ranch. It was a great day! The staff was very knowledgeable about horses and spent time with each of us (about 10 of us today) instructing and demonstrating currying, brushing, how to approach the horse and gain its trust as well as how to saddle and unsaddle a horse. Our wranglers taught us how to control the horse, steer the animal, and how to keep our horse in line during the trail ride. My granddaughter loved it and wants to return, as do I. It has been almost 40 years since I was last on a horse and while a bit sore, we both agree it was an awesome day. Thanks to Pony, Ducky, Amethyst, Bunny, Rouge, and the rest of the staff. read more

I have been going to this ranch since 2002 and I absolutely love all the staff I have had horses boarded here I have took lessons for many years and I have never had a problem this is the best ranch around no doubt. And they provide a daily devotional with the children who could not be proud of a ranch incorporating Christ into daily activities this ranch is amazing and they have always been family to me for anyone looking for riding lessons, horse boarding, summer camps, etc. this is THE PLACE to bring all kids of any age. :) read more

Really impressed with this place. My daughter hasn't ridden a horse since she was 2 and the horse was so sweet and gentle and made her feel completely comfortable. The trail was peaceful, quiet and almost zen like. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some relaxing family time together. We will be visiting as often as possible. I just had my daughter's birthday party at Flying G. It was great! Everyone had the best time. The staff is caring and the horses are so sweet and gentle.
