I spent $325.00 on Frames(that can happen) Eyes check outed, I was So excited my wife was excited to get a new script of contacts' I had the worst experience with a employee telling me that I CAN NOT have the line, they draw on lens lower than it's supposed to be! Alright it's on; I told them I always no matter where I get glasses I have the line lowerd' progressive line for reading by 2 numbers. Still with me? Wife gets her contacts and and they are OFF, not near the spec's-1 was so higher and 1 was a 0 ??? So after 2 weeks wearing my glasses I had to take back(not right vision) something is off. Absolute horrible customer service and the manager or whoever she is of the place is extremely rude and unprofessional. I have been a long-term patient of Dr. Hamilton, but do to the ugliness at the front desk and with their manager I will not be going back anymore.. They gave me the wrong prescription but expected me to pay again. They also gave me other exams that my insurance won't pay for. I now I have to pay totally out of pocket because of their negligence. The tech wasn't helpful, so now I'm going to another doctor. My insurance company will be notified. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Hamilton for several years for my annual exam (wear contacts) and always have been satisfied with the service, although I have had to ask twice to get a hard copy prescription. Today went for my exam, as has been their habit last couple of visits have to provide medical insurance as well as vision, sign forms with cost. When I was pulled back the first discussion with the tech was about payment- she explained to me that with my insurance they had 'bundled' my service and I would have a $60 credit to use to purchase from their in-house dispensary. When I questioned this, since I buy my contacts online for half the price, I was told that without the 'bundle' my OOP cost would be $135 instead of billing my insurance. I asked a couple of questions because it felt like I was being coerced to buy from them- after a couple of minutes the tech said 'so you're fine with the $135?' My reply was that I was fine with finding another doctor, got up and walked out. Hamilton was standing in the hall- as I walked by he commented 'that seems like a great solution.' Well, sir, in deference to your pricing practices and your attitude I did not let the door hit me as I left. Especially after reading some of the other reviews here it feels like an insurance scam. read more

Sub-par care. I had to insist for them to give me a hard copy of my contact lens RX. I was told that: "we usually don't do that." This is because they want you to buy the overpriced contacts they offer, even though you can find them at a fraction of the cost online. They do not follow the 2020 FTC Contact Lens Rule, because they do not let you have a copy of your RX. As such, they will be reported to the FTC. They talk about countefeit lenses on the internet, but you can get the same contacts directly from the manufacturer at half the price. If you do not believe me, please look at their BBB reviews. Waste of my time. I'm a first time customer, recently moved to Tallahassee. I booked an appt three weeks ago for a contact lens exam to update my prescription. I told the person who took my call that I didn't have medical insurance at this time but I did have Guardian VSP vision insurance. No problem she said. I gave her my policy info and the appt was set for 8/29/24. When I got there on Thursday I was asked to see my medical insurance card. Told her that I didn't have medical and gave my vision insurance card. My policy info was already filled out on the patient info sheet. She stated that if there were medical issues I would need to pay an additional amount. Told her I just needed a basic exam. She gave me paperwork to sign, one of which was a mandatory rule that I would need medical insurance or pay more if the Dr found any medical issues. I told young girl at counter that I was diagnosed with cataracts by my previous Dr in Atlanta. She stated that I would have to pay the medical exam fees since the vision didn't cover. I told her that I've known for several years that I have cataracts and only needed a lens exam. The person that booked the appt didn't say anything about this policy. I was very clear with them that I only had vision insurance. Then the "office manager"? (She didn't introduce herself) stepped up and said yes I would most likely have to pay additional costs beyond what my vision insurance covered. I asked her how much and she couldn't tell me. It would be "decided by the Dr after the exam". Manager also lied saying she called me on 8/22 to ask discuss my lack of medical insurance. I had zero missed calls or messages at any point from her. I'm very organized and would have called immediately if I heard there was an issue. So I gave all the paperwork back and said I was leaving, then the young girl says I'd have to pay a cancellation fee. That really aggravated me and I guess the manager could tell because she said never mind there would be no charge. I walked out of an appointment I had waited for three weeks. They made zero effort to keep me as a customer. Didn't try to anything to provide how much the additional fees would be. I specifically went to this place because it was recommended on the Guardian VSP website and I will be contacting them about my shady experience. I have no idea if the Dr is any good but the front office staff sucks. . read more

I have been seeing Dr. Hamilton for over 20 years and find him to be an excellent physician. He is thorough, expains things well, and is always up on the latest scientific findings regarding eyes. The eye exams at this facility are extremely detailed and use the best technology. If you want a real eye exam that also checks for underlying health issues that affect eyes, like eye pressures (glaucoma) and macular degeneration, you can feel comfortable coming here. If all you want is a visual acuity exam (how well do I read the chart) and to be fitted for glasses, I suggest you go to one of those cheap eye exam places like they have in shopping malls. read more

You will not be able to find a better eye doctor office than 'The Focal Pointe' Dr. Richard Hamilton and his staff are 5 Stars all the way. It's a great feeling when you go to the doctor and you feel like family. I can't say enough about Dr. Hamilton, he always listens to you to make sure all your questions are answered. His staff is by far the best, they are friendly, helpful and truly just outstanding all the away around. I tell everyone that is looking for an eye doctor to call Dr. Rick and his staff, they will be there to help you out. read more

If you are after precision and efficiency this is not the place for you. Although I understand they are short- staffed they are still impolite, border line rude, not to mention the extremely overpriced frames and lenses. They treat you like you are a bother to them. read more

I went there for a basic contact exam and with my insurance should have been 15.00. When I went to check out was told my bill was 240.00 so I asked why and she said I am being charged for a well exam again asked why and was rudely told that the doctor coded it that way I have some ingrown eyelashes and he deemed that a medical procedure I guess so my bill was 50.00 well exam 40.00 for a eyeglass exam which I didn't ask for and my contact exam was 150.00. I then asked if I could speak to the doctor and was told no. The office manager told me this is not Walmart or Costco., and was threatened to call the sheriffs office if I didn't pay! This is a follow up from my last review posted about The Focal Pointe; after writing my review on Yelp and describing what happen at the office, and after careful consideration of what to do in order to be made whole again. I contacted BBB, I contacted several agencies trying to get my reimbursement from The Focal Pointe. I wrote my certified letter and instead of directing my letter from Dr. Alex Falb, O.D., this time I addressed my concern with the owner of the establishment(practice) Dr. Richard Hamilton, O.D. I reminded him of the one line that matters the most "THE PATIENT always comes first." Not long after sending the letter, I received the amount I requested back from the office of $150.00. I thank Dr. Hamilton for doing the right thing! I will continue my Optometrist's appointments elsewhere per the letter from them, I thank God! read more

First, when I was at the appointment I mentioned to the eye doctor that when I look at white board with black letters that I see double. All he did was look at me then look back at the computer, ignoring me. I didn't know if this was normal or not so I didn't push the issue. I later looked it up and it is something that can be corrected with eye glasses and he did absolutely nothing for it! Secondly, my $10 appointment (because of my vision insurance) turned into $204 because they SAW that one of my nerves is larger than the other. Mind you, the doctor said it is most likely due the fact that I have a severe astigmatism in that eye. They didn't do any actual testing or diagnosing, but they had to charge my medical insurance instead of my vision insurance. Thirdly, that additional testing they say I need, they can't tell me how much it's going to be. What do they expect, me to show up with a blank check? Sorry, I don't have that luxury. When I told the lady at the scheduling counter that I cannot schedule it until I know how much it is, she said "well let us know if you change your mind". Seriously?! And lastly, I had emailed them through their online appointment scheduling site to schedule to get my contact prescription because that took longer than I had anticipated (even though the lady scheduling the first appointment said the amount of time I had would be enough) and to get the cost of this service. They still have not contacted me to schedule and I emailed them on Tuesday. Not that I mind anymore because I'm not ever going back there. read more

I've been coming here since I moved to Tally six years ago and there's a good reason why I haven't gone anywhere else. The staff (all of them) is always welcoming, friendly, they receive you with a smile on their face and are always pleasant to deal with. I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seen and Dr. Hamilton's professionalism is just off the charts; he really wants to help you and he will listen to your concerns and tries to put your mind at ease. No question is ever too stupid for Dr. Hamilton, he REALLY does care about his patients and their health. Trust me, they all work together to clear ANY concern you may have. The most unprofessional, disrespectful, and uninformed receptionists I have ever come across. I spoke with April on the phone who gave me false information about purchasing box of contacts I am previously prescribed from this office and she was not even in the office when I came but another receptionist, Angela was who had no information and gave zero effort into looking into my situation. I spent an hour waiting and the only result was a disrespect answer of no I cannot purchase a box of contacts or receive another written prescription with no explanation on why I could not receive the same prescription besides I needed another appointment. This prescription is less than a year old and it just shows that the office only cares about money and not their patients especially because they cannot even hire competent receptionists. read more

My first and last experience with FP. I made an appointment, left work, arrived on time, then was told I HAD to sign a form giving them permission to bill my major medical insurance company if they found anything medically wrong with my eyes. I explained I had vision insurance and was only interested in getting eyeglasses. The receptionist said their Drs. do a complete medical exam and if they found anything other than that I needed corrective lenses that they would need to bill my medical insurance. I said I would wait and see what they found and then decide if I should sign. I repeated that I only wanted eyeglasses (isn't that what optometrists ODs do? They aren't ophthalmologists MDs). The receptionist said that I had to sign or they would not see me. I told her I guess I made an appointment at the wrong place. I never saw the OD so I can't comment on he/ she, but I can say the practice seems more interested in getting money from insurance companies than in providing good customer service. I would not recommend them. They should have explained their policy to me when I called for the appointment. They wasted my time. read more
