Horrible Service! Absolutely cold, they had fire warmers but they kept moving them, we complained and they didn't move us inside. The food was the only good thing about this place. Food was fantastic and highly recommended. Atmosphere was nice and rustic. Service was good however the waitress we had was young and ask us if there was anything else when our meals were delivered which we responded we needed more napkins and grated cheese. She did not bring those until we had to get her attention as she just kept doing things for other tables. We did notice watching her that she was pleasant but very blunt with everyone as if she had attitude but she did apologize. However another customer jumped over to our table with attitude saying we don't treat our local wait staff that way and he was truly an a-hole as he had no idea of what he was talking about and basically ruined our dinner for something he didn't have any business or know what he was talking about. Recommend the location and food but be careful if the locals.... The owner however was extremely pleasant as he apologized 2 times for the issue and we had pleasant conversation with him. read more

The Forest Nook never disappoints! The food is always cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Make sure you make a reservation in advance, because the get extremely busy on weekends. We tried to get take out one Saturday and they were sold out of several of our favorite dishes. We did make a reservation for the next day to eat there and the owner/manager was kind enough to set aside several pizza doughs to make sure that we were able to enjoy some of their amazing Pizza. Everything on the menu is exceptional for the appetizers to the desserts. If you are ever in the area, this is a must stop if you are looking for exceptional food with an outdoor relaxing vibe. read more

Finally made it to the Forest Nook after being recommended by many locals. It did not disappoint. After a long day on the local trails the family was hungry. The food was great! As a bit of a foodie, I can be tough to please. The wings were as good as any you could get in Buffalo. The burger was great. Cooked to perfection. And those fries! Ive been craving those fries! I recommend visiting this charming restaurant located in Cook Forest. There is a little store adjacent to the restaurant which has really cute little homemade gifts and Bigfoot related merchandise. You select the items you want to purchase and then bring to the restaurant. Walking into the café/restaurant, there wasn't a sign "wait here to be seated" etc. or anything like that.. so we caught the attention of a waitress who was friendly and sat us at a table. The forest nook was busy on this Saturday afternoon. The patrons seem to be locals and visitors as well. The menu had something for everyone and our server was quite friendly. My boyfriend ordered the personal pizza which was incredibly fresh. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. My sandwich was also delicious and very filling. There were specialty cocktails available as well as beer on the menu. I really enjoyed the outside décor of The Forest Nook. Well we really wanted to like this restaurant since it seems to be super popular. We were lucky enough to secure a reservation during the gingerbread festival event. Keep in mind this restaurants seating area is in a covered/heated outdoor patio... We showed up on time and were promptly seated. Our server came immediately and took our drink order, but this is when everything slowwwwed down. It took 20 minutes to get drinks. So when our server came back, we immediately put in our food order since we were starving and knew that the food may take a while. It took nearly an hour to get four sandwiches, a burger, and a kids pizza. The server did not check in with us at all so we had no idea how long the food would take... Overall the food was OK, some things were great others were not very good. Burger and cheese balls were great... The fish sandwich and meatball sub not so much. We may return in a pinch, but may not be able to if we didn't have a reservation... read more

The Forest Nook Restaurant is the hidden gem in Cook Forest. If you want to get lost for the day in the forest, hiking, driving or whatever. This is where you want to end your day. The food is fabulous. The staff is wonderful. The prices are outstanding. We go out out of our way at least an hour and a half to 2 hours multiple times per year just to the Nook. If you haven't been there, you should go get lost in the woods in Cook Forest. read more

We were thrilled to learn from Nicole at The Wayside in Lucinda that the Forest Nook was open and that she was specializing in her Italian heritage. We rent a cabin in late October and mid April and the restaurant choices are few. We shared a very generous serving of lasagne and my husband liked it so much that we froze our leftovers and brought them home to Juno Beach. Another COVID19 review. My family and I were staying nearby in Cooks Forest and decided to visit here on a Friday for dinner. Due to the reduced seating we made sure we were here shortly before they opened so we could procure outside seating. We were promptly seated and the waiter was fairly attentive as the restaurant filled up fast. I had the chicken parm with wedding soup. Portions were definitely fair. My wife had roast beef, my oldest son had the stuffed shells, and my youngest had a kids meal. All of us were very happy with our meals. Food had a lot of flavor and certainly was fresh. Outside seating was covered and even eating in July you were still comfortable. Even though the portions were good, we planned for desert. Peanut butter pie was definitely freshly made/not out of a box. My youngest had a brownie sundae which also was a fair size. Overall I would certainly return. Stopped in to check out this roadside cafe serving up beeftastic open faced hot roast beef sandwiches with nice thick cut potato bread and mashed potatoes. The gravy coated everything nicely in a beefy bath and had the right amount of salt. The Pecan Dolphin Salad was good but don't expect fresh Mahi Mahi off the pier Day-boat. Nuff said. A side of homemade potato salad offered traditional, non-sweet mayo/mustard dressing and firm potatoes. Perfect for a pre-hike brunch in Cooks Forest. Their iced tea is killer fresh too! This lil' nook is the cutest. We sat outside under the covered patio. We loved the decor . I had unsweetened tea which I believe they brew there. That's always a plus in my book. I dined on the honey mustard chicken salad sandwich & swapped the fries for a side salad. However, the fries looked so good & fresh cut. Our plates were nicely prepared. I though the honey mustard chicken salad was okay. Next time I'd opt for something else & I'd try a dessert. Desserts are all made on site. As we were finishing up, the Nook started to get very busy. I just had my first experience at The Forest Nook- and what a pleasant surprise it was! Although it was a busy holiday weekend, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. Service was very attentive and friendly and we were told everything on the menu was made from scratch in house. Now- on to the food! The menu has a lot of variety to offer without being overwhelming. The guys ordered a cheese pizza, and I ordered the turkey dinner. Again, despite the busy afternoon, our food came very promptly and was hot and fresh. The pizza looked good- though I didn't have any I can say that the boys enjoyed it. My turkey dinner was just delicious- fresh carved turkey, real mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry relish, fresh stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes and corn! Honestly the best turkey dinner (outside of my mom's Thanksgiving dinner!) I have ever had. There was a nice selection of homemade desserts on the menu, but we were too full to try any. On Forest road heading north from Cook Forest State park is a cool little restaurant in the midst of the Tree's called the Forest Nook. This has got to be one of the best places to grab a bite to eat in the Cook Forest area. The food at the Forest Nook is really good quality, and they also offer beer, and Lattes. On Our visit we had the Reuben Sandwich and Fries as well as a child's Hot dog meal. Both were very good, and made from quality ingredients. They have a great outdoor seating area on a deck as well as a partially covered outdoor area. The service at the Forest Nook is excellent as well. If your Camping in the Cook Forest area or spending the day, and looking for some grub this would be my recommendation for a great place to stop, and enjoy quality food, and a great outdoor seating area to enjoy your meal. I went to the Forest Nook on a Saturday afternoon around 2:00 pm with four others. We waited outside the patio for about 10 minutes before a waitress pointed us to a table. The table had not been cleaned; bits of food and water rings were still on the table. After another ten minutes our waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order. We hadn't received menus yet. She went to get menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. The group ordered three burgers, one Reuben, and a salad. We waited for about 30 minutes. Two of the group had cold fries and the salad didn't have everything ordered. My fries were warm and fried nicely. Two of the burgers had so much mayonnaise that it was dripping off the burgers. Three of us got dessert. I liked the carrot cake. One had bread pudding and another had tollhouse pie, which was a big chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. We all liked the desserts. The servers weren't enforcing mask rules. People were walking around without masks, and at least one server had her mask under her nose. This was my first and last visit to the Forest Nook. read more

My goodness! That cheesecake! Whoo! I've eaten at pretty much every place that serves food from Clarion to Leeper and back. I may love camping and I can certainly rough it with the best, but I do not consider a salad to be iceburg lettuce with 14 pounds of ranch dressing. That's what you usually get in the area, that or hot dogs or whatever. Touristy food. I can really only balance cooking gear and food while on vacation in a hatchback with two dogs to a point.........eventually you gotta eat out, and eventually you want REAL FOOD. We discovered this place a few years ago, and they obviously make everything from scratch! I have NEVER been disappointed with a meal here. Ever! The menu is not as limited as some places in the area and the service is fast and friendly. FABULOUS food! I even got this big turkey dinner platter once, geez, it was pretty much thanksgiving on a plate! In the middle of summer! Their pizza is awesome, their desserts are to die for! We recently had thier baked coconut handmade cheesecake, we weren't half way in when we flagged down the waitress and told her to bring another slice to split! It was just THAT good! If you don't want to service your patrons, get a new job Stopped by for a takeout pizza. Place was packed as it usually is in the weekends. Nice friendly service from the staff. The pizza is decent. Made in a stone oven, good crust, decent sauce. Crust is heavier, thick end crust but thin in the middle. I will def be trying other items on the menu. read more

My aunt used to own this place. She sold, and then the quality got bad supposedly. But 10 years later, the newest owner is doing some new things. I ate there a couple years ago. Now it is less of an Italian place, more all American. Great homemade bread. Everything we had was good. Even serve Pennsylvanian wine. The food here is fantastic! We were a party of four. One ordered meatloaf and it was obvious it was homemade. Even just the Rachel sandwich was really good, with marbled rye bread and fresh ingredients. The service when we were there was terrible; however, our waitress did apologize and explained that the staff, mostly college students, had left to go back to school so they were short-staffed. This is an amazing place. I look forward to coming here every year when I'm at Cook Forest State Park. The Forest Nook has delicious pasta dishes, lots of vegetarian options, and absolutely amazing desserts. I got homemade peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream last time I was here. The waiters & staff are very pleasant and the atmosphere is creative & very warm: there are painted sunflowers on the fence, a fairy/gnome garden, and a pond in the side yard.
