I went to the foundry last night which was on a Thursday. This was supposed to be a date night for my husband and I. 1. No one was at the front to get us a table waited for 15 minutes at the front for a person , nothing. 2. My husband insisted that we just sit at the bar, I hesitated because I am almost two years sober. 3. So I felt uncomfortable, my husband noticed a table away from the bar. So we asked to sit there instead. The bartender said that was fine. 4. Then we were looking at the menu, it is nothing like the online menu. 5. So while trying to give this place a chance, the whole staff was yelling right beside quite literally right beside our table, rude to talk about situations out in front where customers are, especially when it involves the police and customers. (Very Unprofessional) 6. Food comes and the burger fell a part into pieces was not a good patty as to why it was falling apart, greasy, too much onions. Ruined the food. We had a 7:15 reservation. Three of our party of 4 arrived at this stunningly gorgeous dining area 10 minutes early, and we were seated right away. Hint - Make sure you take the elevator outside the hotel. You can't get there from the one in the lobby, which we tried at first and failed. Our drink orders were taken within seconds. I asked the waitress to recommend a sweet cocktail, and the quartz radiation did not disappoint. We had the avocado deviled eggs for our appetizer, yummmmmm!!!! You get exactly 4, which was perfect for us. I ordered the crispy pork belly, which was delish. I liked the rice, too, but I wasn't a fan of the potatoes. They don't bring bread before the meal here. My husbands family took us to the Foundry for the first time last night and we had a great time! The atmosphere was upscale and sleek while still being cozy. It was too cold to sit on the rooftop patio so we sat inside. We did go outside to look at the patio and it was super cool! There was a fireplace, tables, and a great view of the Dragons stadium. They also have igloos if you want to rent them for a group. Our waiter, Kenyan, was phenomenal! He was super attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. We were between ordering the Nutty Mushroom pizza or the Loaded Potato pizza. He recommended the Nutty Mushroom and it was delicious! They make all their pizzas in a woodfire oven. We also ordered the ugly toast and some cocktails. All of the food and drinks were delicious! There is parking right in front and on the side streets. I thought there was lots of parking options for it being inside of an AC hotel. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend checking The Foundry out while in Dayton! read more

Everyone had to set their phones on empty glasses with their flashlights on just to see what they were eating. The oversized booths were a pain to get and get out of. They definitely need to rethink this option. Maybe open at both ends instead of open at one end. The Food Got the flank steak and it was tough and cold when it was brought out. Not worth the money paid. Way over priced menu. The live entertainment was not that good either. To loud for conversations to be had. The waitress could not hear us and we could not hear her. Had to yell for her to take out orders. I guess they have to overcharge for the meals in order to compensate for the people not coming back for e revisit. I know we will not be back. Love this rooftop in downtown Dayton. The bar is beautiful. The atmosphere was relaxing. On a pleasant November night there were fire going and an iglooo on the rooftop. We chose to sit at the bar and still had a nice view. For drinks my husband had snd old fashioned and I had a drink with rose snd grapefruit. I thought the rose drink was a little sweet considering it was grapefruit, but both drinks were done nicely. For dinner we started with the charred meatballs which were moist and delicious. We also shared a pizza and a Brussel sprout salad. Very tasty and nicely presented. The bartender was friendly and efficient. He politely explained that our waiter left for the night and we would be getting another waiter. OK, one mix up, I'll let that slide, but the service continued to get worse. We ordered an espresso martini, a Manhattan, and the meatballs for starters and they took forever, probably about another 20-30 to just get our drinks. Granted, it was busy, but no drink should take that long to take. Once we got our drinks, the meatballs took more time to cook even though our waiter said they would be out very shortly. That was when we started to get aggravated. Cocktails were fantastic though, the meatballs were just okay. I've had better. After the first course, we ordered the carnivorous pizza. That pizza came within a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely delicious. The pizza alone earns a few starts on my review. After we were finished dining, we waited some more for our check which took way too long. That was our final strike. I think our full dining experience took over an hour and a half and for the price of this place, I expect better service. Overall, good food but not a pleasant experience due to the service. Pizza came out first. The server and we over heard the manager talking with another couple that the pizza is a separate kitchen from entree kitchen. They don't line up for service. We are most of the pizza and then the avocado deviled eggs came out. A little later the pork belly came out. All in all I think it took about 45 minutes to get the food. Taste: the drinks were delicious and creative. Good job there. I liked the avocado deviled eggs but was missing something. The pizza was okay. The peppers were the star of the pizza but didn't have enough. The chicken was not good. I think it must have been the kind of chicken pieces that you buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. It was bland and not good. I picked it mostly off. The pork belly was definitely not worth the wait. It was bland and tough. They gave us a butter knife to cut it so it was exceptionally hard to cut. The rice was the star of that dish. Overall, I can see the appeal for the bar. The drinks were great. Maybe if there is a next time we will try outside and just order drinks. read more

We finally got the chance to visit the Foundry. Unfortunately they were all booked for the outdoor dining but we however did get to experience the outdoor bar and the bar menu that was available. The ambiance of this location is quite stunning. It over looks the Dragons stadium and a portion of downtown Dayton. The seating areas were comfortable and very modern. It is a perfect location for the summertime cocktail gathering. We ordered several drinks from the bar. We started with Quartz Radiation and Tiki Makai. QUARTZ RADIATION: Skyy Vodka Infusions Strawberry, Leroux Blackberry Brandy, Pineapple Juice. The drink was pretty good but somewhat sweeter than expected. Tiki Makai consisted of Bacardi Dragonberry Rum, Coconut Water, Grenadine, Lime Juice. Pretty fruity and again a little sweeter than expected. Our next drinks were Purple Sky and Hugo Spritz. Purple sky consisted of Empress Gin, Italicus, Grapefruit Fever-Tree Tonic. Hugo Spritz consisted of Elderflower Liqueur, Sparkling Wine, Soda, Mint. . These drinks were refreshing but full of flavors and just the right amount of sweetness. Prices were in the higher range of $14-$15 per a drink but definitely worth the experience. Next, we ordered the Brussel Caesar Salad and the Margherita Pizza. The Margherita Pizza which consisted of heirloom cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, oregano. I am not a big fan of oven cooked pizza it was good but there was not enough cheese or heirloom tomatoes for $14.00. Next, we ordered the brussel sprouts caesar salad. The salad was ok not great. It was not the traditional Caesar Salad one would expect. The Caesar portion of the salad tasted like cabbage vs lettuce greens. Not sure there was even dressing on it as it was dry. It did come with real anchovies which tasted overly fishy and not so fresh. The Brussel sprouts were super undercooked and lacking in flavor. I was expecting this to be combined with a more robust twist on the dressing and execution of the salad. I would not recommend this salad based on flavors and fishy tasting anchovies. The service was great when we first entered the Foundry. They greeted us and informed us they were overbooked but that we could enjoy the outdoor seating area with a reduced menu selection. Unfortunately, when we got up to the bar the staff was not very friend and super in knowledgeable with the drink. It too them over 10 minutes to wait on us even though the bar was not super crowded than another 10 minutes for the drinks to be made. We proceeded to order food and one of bartenders snapped that they do not deliver food to the outskirts of the bar tables and that we would have come back to the bar to get it. Super unprofessional to say the least. Overall rated this place as average compared to other places in Cincy. I would recommend this place for cocktails and outdoor roof top gathering. I would not necessarily recommend this place for dinner based on what we received last night. read more

Of course the manager did not seem to care, did not come to apologize to us, did not comp any food for us, but instead decided to come outside and constantly walk by do random stuff outside to make sure we weren't going to dine and dash. We spent over 100$ for a dinner for 2, i don't know if they expected us to not have enough money to afford this place or something but they did not seem to care about their customers. This left us secluded from others, but it was far from private. Not the best seating, but we didn't complain. The staff was friendly but the food service was ridiculously slow. We ordered the hummus and both had the Chipotle Cherry Salmon which was perfection. We were seated when we arrived, but it took two hours from seated to paying the bill for an appetizer, entrees & dessert. We would love to return, but not on a weekend. The wait between seated to getting a glass of water was at least 10 mins. The wait for everything else was much worse. The venue was very nice though. They had a fun cocktail menu and our server was excellent at recommending drinks and dinner. My friends went with the wood fired pizza which I tried and it was very good! I ordered the 24-hour chicken. It was chicken in a light sauce with peas and carrots and a mushroom risotto. It was superb! The chicken was tender, hot and juicy and the mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly! The only reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because our friends pizzas came out about 15 minutes before my husbands and my meal came out. Our bill was around $90 and I think what they charge for the quality of food is fair, but if you're going to charge that then you should be sure your entire tables food comes out together.
